Forged In Fire: the Power of Real Steel (Steel-type Mono-run)

Recommended Posts

Well for those who have yet to see me on the forums, I'll introduce myself yet again. The name's Darv, and I thought I'd get my foot in the door on this mono-run deal and orate my tales to the community in Reborn, or else where would the fun be in that.

Properly tempered steel shall never rust - Jasmine. Johto Steel leader.

Why I chose the steel type for this run is because most of my favorite Pokemon are Steel types, and many of the hardest Gyms Reborn tend to give Steel types a hard time. So without further ado, I'll lay out my character and personal rules.

My main man:

- The white male protagonist, to be named Barrett (like the sniper rifle). A softly-spoken, almost robotic boy who knows little exterior emotion and precise calculations in the art of Pokemon battling.

My rules:

- If there's a steel type, or evolution-to-be that is available at a certain portion of the game, I HAVE to use it in the Gym or Boss battle. This includes Pokemon that may have appeared in previous Episodes, such as the old Riolu event (I have Episode 10, so don't worry).

- I will only apply exceptions to the rule above, wherein I can swap in only 1 non-Steel member of my team, and it's typing cannot be super-effective against the Gym's type, or the majority of the boss' Pokemon.

- I have to nickname all my permanent Steel members after something related to machines, metal, or similar.

- Starter is Piplup, because it's the only Steel-typing starter available.

So lemme get this thing started, and I'll report back later. Enjoy the tale Reborn.

(I have Episode 10, so don't worry).

We wary about this, because it seems Reborn went through A LOT of changes since EP10 and now going that much back produces some serious visual glitch, or simply crash the game (In my case, I used it for early move relearner and Mamoswine, and to get to it I had to test MOST of the buildings for one that worked and didn't crash my game in EP10.6, the only one that worked was the Department Store, also, the visual glitches, those were everywhere).

Anyway, good luck. Remember that preJulia you will have 3 catches if I don't forget anything (Wormadam-T, Prinplup and Pineco).

If I remember right, one of the first Pokemon you'll be getting will be Wormadam-Trash, so catch a Headbutt slave like Bidoof so you can add another mon to your roster.

Actually, Zigzagoon (in the Opal Bridge) is probably a better choice as a Headbutt slave, as it learns that move earlier than Bidoof.

Other than Wormadam Trash, there should be also Pineco, available in the same place as Burmy (found with Headbutt), before the first gym.

(Just some minor details, in the end)
