Ok, this is something new-ish that I've decided I wanted to expand upon. in the past few months there were attempts at making Drop in RPs, make a character and hop in when you wish. Seems simple, nice and casual.

That got me thinking about experimenting with the RP format beyond what is normally done around here, though I imagine this is done in other forums.

This is going to be an RP with No OOC, no Interest Check, no briefing on the world or start of the plot outside of the absolute necessities for making Characters. You may only interact with the RP through the IC and you may not ask questions or communicate as I am doing to you now, in brackets or spoilers set aside from your IC post.

Granted there may be some questions that NEED answering that I may not elaborate on within my posts, so PM me if you wish, though don't expect an answer. Especially if the question is not about a misunderstanding or some such.

So, are you feeling up to the challenge?

Your consciousness floats amidst a dark ocean of errant thoughts and sub-conscious musings. It's strange, it feels as though you are dreaming with perfect clarity but without anything to focus on. You drift within your mind, without purpose or desire. You can't feel your body, none of the senses you have been accustomed to having for most of your life.

The passage of time is muddled, you have no way to tell how long you stay like this. You feel the conscious clarity start to fade, the normal dreams preparing to resume, when just ahead of you, you perceive a mirror. Then you notice a room begin to form around you and your mind begins to react to a barrage of information from your renewed senses.

"Ah, a new visitor." greeted a faint, raspy echo of a female voice. "I wonder what they see?"

"You wonder that every time Eve. To be frank, I wish you would stop wondering that. This is the fifty second time you have opened with that and it starts to get boring." A male voice, just as distant and raspy as the first, griped.

"Oh pish posh Adam, they hardly care. Neither should you." retorted the female voice. "Look, they're already looking around now, more curious about where they are than our mumblings"

"I think that's the seventh time we've had that conversation..."

"Of how many?"

"I recall we hit the 7 digit mark a while ago"

"Ah how time flies!"

The voices continued to chat back and forth, seemingly unconcerned with you now.

First, make sure you have a firm idea of a characters personality and general theme. Make sure you've got a good idea as to who your character is, without worry for backstory for now. If you're struggling pick an archetype of a character and run with it. Anti-hero badass? Lovable mook? Adorable child? Devilish rogue? Whatever. It can be anyone, age, gender or lack of, race. All that matters is that they are a person you could feasibly find in the world today. Stay above the age of 3.

Next. Describe the room as it would appear to your character. Log cabin, jail cell, classroom, whatever. It has to reflect something of your character and who they are. Running with the examples from before, the adorable child might find themselves in a part of their childhood home, where their most precious memories were made. Anti-hero badass may find themselves in a room where a significant event happened to put them on the path to being that Anti-hero.

Finally, approach the mirror and describe what the character sees. I leave that to you.

It was a library. At its center was a lone figure standing in front of a mirror. Surrounding that area were three circular rings of wooden tables, each with gaps for people to move though. There was a high ceiling that left both floors of the library visible from where the figure stood. At a few feet behind the ultimate row of tables, a large number of filled bookshelves were arranged such that they expanded radially outward from the circle at regular intervals. The floor above, with an open center and a balcony fence that was touched by bookshelves arranged identically to the shelves on the floor below.

The figure looked towards a nearby table and saw a diary with a name engraved into a metal plate on top of it.

Maekawa Mie.

The name written in kanji in Japanese order lay there on that blue diary.

The figure could only assume that was her name. She was about to open the diary sitting on the table but as soon as she put her hand to the cover of the diary, she pulled it away. Even if it was hers, she still felt a bit embarrassed to look into it. So, she turned back to the mirror to get a closer look at her appearance.

If one could put a few words to the image in the mirror, it would be stereotypical bookworm. She had jet black eyes and hair to match. Her hair extended down to where her T5 vertebra was positioned. She wore black-rimmed glasses which matched her hair and eye color. She was wearing what looked like a winter uniform for a high school composed of a white shirt with a ribbon tied around the collar and a pleated knee-length skirt. Tied around her waist was a navy blue cardigan which was likely part of the uniform. The last notable feature was the red scarf which was resting on the back of her neck and extending in front of her body.

Mie continued to stare silently into the mirror as she let the time pass ever so slowly yet consistently.
