Is saving the police officer before you destroy the Pulse machine necessary?

For the extra ending? I feel like it's kinda dumb because how was I supposed to know you were to do it before? The chief should've at least said something like "Also, it's be pretty cool if you saved all the police officers before saving both wards so we can help you" or something like that.

It's not known yet if it will affect anything past E15, but you do need to save all the officers if you want to get extra content about Corey.

You'll learn that

Hope I didn't forget anything. I myself didn't get this part because I thought it wouldn't matter if I saved the officers first or got to the PULSE :c

Sirius is so cruel ;-;. He not only killed Corey's wife, but also burnt down Belrose Mansion (and killed Charlotte/Laura/Saphira's parents).

You gotta give that to him, he fights for the Meteors with a burning passion~

...Jokes aside though, Sirius is easily the most terrifying Meteor IMO (Lin aside because we haven't actually seen her do much yet, but she seems awful).

Sure, a certain other has proven themselves capable of killing, too, but Sirius seems more... ruthless?

Not to mention, he is basically Lin's pet dog. The other Admins certainly don't seem as enthusiastic about her.

At least in E. 14 (the last I played from the beginning), it goes like this. You reach Taka, ZEL and a masked Corey, who are guarding the PULSE Tangrowth, and they plan on ganging up on you, but Heather arrives, and keeps the guy who turns out to be her dad busy while you have a double battle with the other two. Once you win, he tries to run, but, if you saved all the cops, he gets caught and unmasked, making his daughter run away, and break a seemingly very strained relationship. He escapes, and you and the cops have to chase him to his gym, by the time you get there, he released a gas to make the cops attack you, and you have to solve the puzzle with the tubes, and he will go to the arena, say a rather chilly line, and fight you on a Corrosive Mist field (prepare accordingly). After you win, he will go to the bridge, explain you his backstory before jumping to his death.

The events don't change much on the overall story, but you get extra scenes, and m¿learn more of the guy before everything ends.

well to be honest, the police officer before you enter the ward tells you they have a group of guys missing. so it would be natural if your a good person to go check out the police station.

Basically this. It's a case of:

You don't have to, but if you did, that'd be great~

Still, you can always play the game again and find the officers before the PULSE on another run so it's whatever

I did but I figured it'd be easier if I did it after the pulse machine because in the first ward one was trapped by a plant sticking out from the ground

an act so heinous it earned him a spot on the "Moral Event Horizon" list on Tvtropes's YMMV Page for Pokemon Reborn.

...which is exactly why I wouldn't mind Sirius being killed at the end of the story. If Saphira found out who burnt their house in the past, I don't think she will be too pleased.

I don't really like Saphira either, but I guess with how much I like the Meteors, and her killing them off like they're vermin, that's just to be expected.

I'm very interested to see the reactions of the sisters to learning the truth.

I feel dumb because I didn't even realize that guy Heather fought was Corey until a while after I learned about the split, even though they both have Crobat and a negative attitude. I thought it was just some random admin who never showed up again.

I think even if you don't see that particular part of the story, you pretty much get it confirmed after Corey dies 'cause 2 meteors show up on the roof saying something about "agent Beryl's death confirmed" or so

Yeah, idk how I didn't connect the dots. I might've assumed Corey was an enemy of theirs who they were spying on.

Well, I didn't get the split where you reveal Corey's evil on my first playthrough; I kind of just assumed that the game implied that for you.
