Help me build a team around Blastoise

Well that doesn't really tell me jack. But I'll help out nonetheless. Blastoise, for starters, is a Pokemon that functions way better as a support Pokemon. Although that pool is terrible, so what you can work with is a special set. And it works WAY better with Rain and HA Rain Dish.

Sample set:

Blastoise: abilty - Rain Dish

- Hydro Pump

- Flash Cannon

- Rain Dance

- Protect

What goes good with Blastoise is anything that can soak up it's weaknesses and maybe benefit from it. Also anything that can set Rain is excellent. Seeing as Politoed isn't available normally, try any Prankster with the Rain Dance TM.

Example support:

Manectric: ability - Lightning Rod

-Charge Beam

-Discharge

-Flamethrower

-Thunder Wave

Meowstic (Male): ability - Prankster

-Rain Dance

-Light Screen

-Reflect

-Psychic

Honestly this is for Reborn. I can't help finish the team, but there's half of your core right there. Any other 3 Pokemon to fill in typing gaps will do the trick.

Blastoise could do well on a rain team. Flying types can do well under rain, especially those that learn Hurricane by level up. Noivern, Swanna, and Vivillion are some examples available in Reborn.

Steel types like rain with fire moves being nerfed. Reborn doesn't have a many good steel types currently, but Magnezone is solid and as is Bronzong, which can learn Rain Dance as well.

Pokemon with abilities that benefit under rain like Swift Swim and Dry Skin can also work. There are a lot of Swift Swimmers out there, one of the best being Kingdra. Armaldo and Beartic are non-water types with Swift Swim that can provide solid coverage. Jynx and Toxicroak both have Dry Skin and can provide good coverage for a rain team as well.

Interesting, I didn't knew Blastoise could learn Aura Sphere. I't's a very versatile Poke, you can't go wrong with it. Once you have like 6-7 badges do another thread posting your current team and I can help you from there; but again very versatile Poke.

Ok thank you all, somehow I hadnt thought about doing a rain team but it sounds pretty fun.

Also I hear that rain dance isn't effective against charlotte anymore, is that true?

I'm pretty sure that's not true. If you use Rain Dance while Ninetales' Drought is still in play, the field changes into the Rainbow Field, making the fight a lot easier since fire-type attacks aren't powered up in the Rainbow Field. Also, using Rain Dance without Ninetales' Drought in play still helps. In any battle, rain decreases the power of fire-type attacks.

Ok thanks, by the way can I find blastoisite anywhere in this game?

The Blastoisite is unobtainable. Even if it were obtainable, you wouldn't be able to use it, as the Mega Ring has not been implemented.

Ah, so mega evolutions aren't even in the game yet? I see. Not particularly bothered by it.

Meowstic (Male): ability - Prankster

-Rain Dance

-Light Screen

-Reflect

-Psychic

I looked it up and apparently meowstic doesn't learn rain dance naturally. Do I receive a TM for it at some point in the game?

You get the Rain Dance TM between the 8th and 9th Badges.

There's a lot you can do, honestly. Physically offensive Pokemon that provide defensive synergy against Grass and Electric types particularly stand out, such as Darmanitan against Grass types or Druddigon against both, as can more specially bulky Pokemon that resist the two typings, such as Dragalge and Venusaur, despite being special Attackers.

Rain support, as mentioned a few times in this thread, is also beneficial in increasing damage output. The only flaw is that it disallows you to effectively use Fire types as effective synergy against Grass types, although Pokemon that abuse Hurricane, while rare, are also effective in Rain.

So I'm at the third gym right now, haven't even tried taking on the leader yet. My party so far is pretty silly.

I have a few other pokemon close to lv 30, I just spend an hour or two training whatever I think is gonna come in handy. My only consistent pokemon are wartotle, mightyena, meowstic (accidentally made it forget light screen -_-) and kricketune. I'm trying to build up a steelix but I'm not sure how to even get that. Does onix evolve naturally in reborn or do I need a stone or something? I think it'd be really useful in this gym since I assume it's a poison type gym.

Let's see, what else.. I also have an emolga with motor drive but haven't been able to pick up lotad yet AS IT NEVER FREAKIN RAINS in my game. I don't think the emolga is going to be very useful here.

so yeah, I haven't even began to build a strategy yet seeing as I dont own anything with rain dance yet.

I also have a shiny vivillion which is like.. wow. Very cool looking poke. Not sure if I should use it though. Here's everything I caught so far.

Onix evolves by using a Link Stone while it's holding a Metal Coat. Metal Coats are occasionally held by wild Magnemite.
