Reborn Game Night!

If you're going for Quiplash, then Drawful wouldn't be a very bad suggestion either :>

It's made by the same company and it's a similar style of game as Quiplash is, you just draw things and people have to guess which answer is the correct one out of the answers thought of by the players before the game starts!

I'm not entirely sure how many people can play this game at once, but i think you can have at least 4 players, so there's that, hee

Godot and I played Drawful at a friend's house and I forgot all about it. I think there's actually a bundle or something that includes those two and some others. Pretty sure it's in a You Don't Know Jack thing. Our friend had them for her ps4.

Oh, cool! I'll check into that, Mael, thanks so much!

Also, as always, thanks to everyone that participated in Game Night and the first Skype call we've ever had. There were a lot of people, some connectivity problems, but it all worked out. Below is the link to highlights from the game. At some point, I will update the ORIGINAL POST with the date and time of the next Game Night!

Drawful is in the "Jackbox Party Pack".

Quiplash isn't in the party pack iirc, because it was released after the party pack.

Oh. Another game by the same company we could play is Fibbage(also in the Party Pack). The game asks everyone questions and everyone has to come up with a lie, then try to pick the correct answer. If you get the correct answer, you get points, if you pick someone else's lie then they get the points instead(and if you pick a lie added by the game, you just lose points). You can also "like" a lie if you think it's funny.

Of course, both Fibbage and Drawful suffer from the same issue as Quiplash, which is needing to stream the host's screen somehow.

Actually, about Quiplash. I'm in the audience for a Quiplash stream right now, and it seems they changed the website so that it shows the question on your "controller" now.

I'm not sure if it's the same for the players, but I think Quiplash game night could be very possible now.

So, I swear that I have not forgotten about these things. The next few weeks are kinda hectic, but I swear I'll host a Game Night again soon! In the meantime, I've just discovered that Oxy (DeoxysDroid, the Games bot) is capable of playing Jeopardy! Still working out exactly how it works, but the game has been added to the list in the Games room intro~

It's alright. Real life just gets in the way of fun. I wouldn't blame you if you couldn't host a few game nights because you were busy.

"Jeopardy!" sounds interesting... though I likely know nothing about any of the things Oxy would ask about. I'd probably make the contestants on SNL's "Celebrity Jeopardy!" look like geniuses by comparison.

I had a passing thought the other day about a couple games that could work well in channel environments if a reasonable way to keep score can be established.

One is Never Have I Ever. We probably all know what this is. Handling everyone's points could be a challenge here.

The other would be creating an adaptation based off of a party game called Curses. In the original game players take turns answering a prompt that asks a question, or tells them to describe what they'd do under certain circumstances ("You're a doctor telling a patient they're terminally ill..."). After completing their prompt, the player then chooses another player to give a Curse Card to, and play continues on with the next person's turn.

The Curse cards are the crux of it. Each one has a requirement-- or 'curse' that the player has to act under from then on. The IRL game has curses like 'you must now always play air guitar while you talk'. Online curses could involve typing quirks, or other verifiable things you can think of.

If a player fails to abide by their curse (or if they have two incompatible curses (for instance, they have to play air guitar, but they also cant move their arms down) then the curse they dont follow is dropped. They're free from it, but they also take a Point. Once a player hits three points, they are out, and lose the game.

One pitfall is we'd need to find a way to make sure curses aren't made to be incompatible in order to guarantee a player takes a point. This might involve creating a list of pre-established online-able curses and using an RNG to select one. There might be some other pitfalls too, but it's an idea for exploration.

That's pretty interesting, Ame. Never Have I Ever could potentially work using the buzzer system on Oxy, though I would need to see if multiple buzzers at once registers with him. As for Curse, some folks and I could brainstorm possible curses and ways to ensure that they all work together...

Thank you so much for the ideas!

Well, due to a weird turn of events that allowed me to be free on a Sunday for once (and by that I mean me getting sick), I'd like to thank everyone for coming out to the quickly improvised Game Night and Skype call! We played 2 rounds of CAH and a round of BGO~

http://imgur.com/a/cl6Sr is the album of all the references to the community that were made during CAH today!

I swear I'll actually try to host this a little more regularly
