Mczipo
SO, WHAT'S UP GUYS? BEEN A LONG TIME. I've been debating on whether or not I should post this chapter because my editor was being a butt. Anyway, here it is after months. Hope you enjoy. Chapter 12: Intervention of the Gods Coughing the water from his lungs after the mandatory detour, Zipo gradually got to his feet, making sure he still had all of his supplies on him. Setting out on the only route available, Zipo came face to face with Steven. Unable to look him in the eyes, Zipo stared at the ground as Steven spoke. "Hey Zipo, how's it going?" Steven asked curiously. "What have you been up to?" Staying silent, Zipo quickly glanced upwards locking eyes with Steven before dropping his gaze. "I see, you don't want to tell me." Passing his hands through his hair he spoke again, "I really had high hopes for you, and I still do. Although, I'm not so sure about you anymore. It seems something has happened, and unless you open up to people and cast aside what ever has happened, you won't get anywhere." Stuffing his hands in his pockets he spoke again, "I have to go now Zipo. The next time we meet, I hope you have changed for the better." He released his Skarmory from its Pokeball and flew off to an unknown destination. "Tch, what does he know?" Zipo muttered to himself, scoffing. Proceeding forward, Zipo fought his way through the immense grass the lay before him exiting on the other side covered in grass blades. Emerging alongside him was a newly evolved Reggie, whose round white top glistened and shined in the sun. Elsewhere, two Pokemon were discussing the matter at hand, that matter being Zipo. "Listen, you have to steer him back on the right path. I can bring him here, all you have to do is fix him," said a mysterious voice. "I know, I know. This is partially my fault, I'll fix it, I just had to think of what to say." Clearing its throat, it spoke again. "When are you bringing him here?" "Now, Jirachi, I hope you're prepared." "I hope I am too," Jirachi said. Zipo walked through the doors into the weather institute. Drying himself off from the sudden storm that arrived, he took a look around making a note of his surroundings. To his surprise, there were Aqua grunts patrolling the ground floor, keeping a sharp eye for any intruders. Releasing Reggie forward, the two grunts fell to the ground unconscious after being given a mild shock. Running up the stairs, Zipo crouched behind a wall to see who else was in the building. "Give us the Pokemon and the research and we might not hurt you," an Aqua member said. "No! We won't let you use our research to bring harm to Hoenn!" Cowering in fear, the scientist managed to show a little bravery in the face of his foe. "Do you think it was a request? We will be taking the research and Pokemon whether you like it or not." Running out into the open, Zipo rushed forward to put a stop to this before anyone got hurt. "Stop right there! I won't let you take anything from these scientists." "Who do you think you're dealing with kid? Get out of here before we hurt you," the Aqua Admin said laughing. "I'll show you who you're dealing with," Zipo said angrily. Reaching for Reggie's Pokeball on his belt, Zipo's vision suddenly grew foggy. Staggering backwards he collapsed on the ground blacking out. "See, I knew he was all talk," the admin said laughing. "Throw him with the others. Let's get what we came for and burn this place to the ground." Zipo woke up in a white room, alone. His Pokemon were nowhere to be found, and there was nobody in sight. "Hello!" He called out, only hearing his echo in response. "Is anybody here?" He shouted again. "No need to shout Zipo, I'm right here." Turning around, Zipo came face to face with Jirachi. "Who are you?" Zipo asked the Pokemon. "Seems like you don't remember me. Oh well. My name is Jirachi. Think of my as your guardian angel of a sort." "Jirachi huh? The name sounds familiar but I can't remember where I heard it before," Zipo said, rubbing his temples. "I should probably make this quick, it seems that you were pulled away at an inopportune time," Jirachi said. "Make what quick? Why did you call me here?" Zipo asked. "Well I didn't call you here exactly per se. I had a bit of outside help with that one. Although I did need to talk to you Zipo. The way you are now, the road you're heading down, it won't end well for you." "What are you talking about, I'm perfectly fine." Staring Zipo directly in the eyes, Jirachi spoke again. "You say that with your words, but not with your heart. You put on a brave face, but you're hurting inside. I know you are. I know for a fact, that you're still upset about Mel, although your mind lingers more on a certain girl that you lost." Glaring at Jirachi, Zipo shouted at the Pokemon. "How do you know this, how can you tell? And if you're so high and mighty, and know all of this, then why did Mel die when other peoples' Pokemon simply faint." Sighing, Jirachi floated onto Zipo's shoulder. "For me to explain that, I'm going to have to take you back. Back to your childhood, back before you got sick and before you could commune with Pokemon. Let me show you a memory. Hopefully it can shed some light on the subject at hand." Opening the eye on its stomach, Jirachi changed the scenery around them. He changed it to a house in the middle of the woods, with a young boy staring out of his window at the stars. At the edge of the woods was a Pokemon, Jirachi to be exact, floating aimlessly along the outer edge of the woods. "I wish," the boy said. "I wish that I could talk to Pokemon and understand them." Hearing the wish being spoken, Jirachi turned his head towards the house and headed over. "You there, boy. Do you really wish that?" Jirachi asked. Astounded for a minute by the talking Pokemon before him, the boy nodded. "Yes, I wish that I could understand Pokemon." "Well kid, just letting you know; every wish has an equal justification, so things may happen to you. Things that you might find unfair or downright cruel. Do you still want your wish to happen?" "Yes, more than anything." They boy said with a glimmer in his eye. "Very well then. Let's make your wish a reality." Closing his eyes, Jirachi focused opening the eye on his stomach. The eye on his stomach released a light forwards, piercing Zipo's skull. As the light died down, Jirachi opened his eyes once more. "Looks like my work is done here, kid. I hope you enjoy your new gift." With that, the memory blurred as time raced forwards. "So... what's happening to me... Is all because of me?" Zipo stated. "Exactly. It's all a consequence of the wish. When you were sick as a child, it was because of the wish. You talking to your father's Pokemon was because of the wish. Eventually, when your Pokemon died, it was all because of the wish." "What about Flannery, then, huh?" Zipo demanded, his voice cracking as it grew louder. Tiny tracks of tears could be seen on his face. "Was that because of the wish too?" "Fate plays an odd game. Whether it was by chance or consequence, I do not know. Destiny, Zipo, is a fickle bitch." The Wish Pokemon flew off Zipo's shoulder and floated in front of the young man's face. "I hope this cleared some things up for you, Zipo. I really do." Zipo just stared back. "You can send me back now." "Alright, let's hope you get back in time," Jirachi said sending him back. Sighing, he said under his breath, "And let's hope your emotions don't run rampant anymore." Slowly opening his eyes, Zipo regained his vision. He could hear the crackling of fire all around him and the crashing of the ceiling collapsing. Getting to his feet, he ran down the stairs and out of the building before it caved in on itself. Coughing smoke out of his lungs, he brushed himself off and looked around. The surrounding area seemed almost peaceful compared to the burning building behind him. Amongst the scenery were scientists tending their wounds. Off in the distance, a small group of blue characters could be seen walking away, Team Aqua had gotten something they wanted. Strolling into Fortree city, Zipo's demeanor hadn't changed. He was upset over the fact that he wasn't able to protect the weather institute and wanted to get this Gym battle over with quickly. Although, when he attempted to enter the gym, he was stopped by an invisible force. Looking around to see what could possibly be stopping him, he saw an odd device semi-hidden in the trees. It seemed to be a lens of some sort with a note attached to it. Dear Zipo, I know that you were headed this way so I thought I could help you out with this. Use the lens to see what is blocking your way. Hope this helps. ~Steven Stone. Putting the lens to his eye, Zipo could see a strange chameleon looking Pokemon that could blend into its surroundings. Growling at it, Zipo spooked the Pokemon causing it to flee into the trees. "So challenger, you dare step into the gym of Winona?" Said a female voice from the sky. Looking up, Zipo saw a woman on the back of an Altaria. "I don't want to waste any time so let's get this over with." Stepping off of her Pokemon, she sent out a Swablu to begin the match. Zipo led with Reggie for the type advantage. Charging up electricity, Reggie unleashed it against the Swablu before it could blink sending it spiraling to the ground. Returning it to its ball, Winona sent forward the Altaria she was riding earlier. Attempting to use the same strategy, Reggie unleashed bolts of lighting against the bird, thinking it would finish it quickly. The Altaria just flew in the air taking the hits while concentrating. The air seemed to warp around it as it concentrated, giving off a faint aura of power. Suddenly it struck the ground, shaking the internal structure of the gym causing rubble to fall from the ceiling. Not reacting quick enough Reggie was buried under the rubble. "No... Impossible," Zipo said muttering to himself. "This can't happen again!" He shouted throwing out Poseidon. Poseidon looked over at the sparking pile of rubble before glaring back at the Altaria before him. Letting loose an immense roar, he swung his tail at the Altaria knocking it to the ground unconscious. Sending out her third Pokemon, it was a Tropius whose grass attacks barely affected Posidon. Swinging his tail down again he knocked out the Pokemon. Sighing, Winona sent out her last Pokemon, a Pelipper. From the rubble erupted an immense wall of Electricity which brought the Pelipper down quickly destroying the Gym floor in the surrounding area. Glancing over to where the electricity shot from, was Reggie standing tall with scratches all over his circular form. With a grin Zipo said, "Reggie, boy do you know how to finish a battle. Just don't scare me like that again alright?" "Sure thing Zipo, us Electrodes are tougher than we look. Besides, sometimes you just have to go for style points," Reggie said with a chuckle. "You there, Zipo. Take this badge and leave," Winona said throwing the badge over. Catching the badge in his hand, he held it up to the light causing it to shine. "No problem there, I'll leave right away," he said turning away. Under her breath, Winona said, "I can't forgive anybody for murder, especially murdering another Gym Leader. Mark my words Zipo the other leaders might see it fit to make you pay."
