Chase
Okay, so I was screwing around with the Teambuilder again because for some reason I've gotten the itch to try and get better at it. I dunno if I made any progress or not, but whatever. Find a way to use Chesnaught offensively in OverUsed Use a Mega people probably forgot existed Try to build for coverage against the voices in my head yelling to just use Pokemon I like HERE WE GO. ----- Chesnaught @ Salac BerryAbility: OvergrowEVs: 12 HP / 244 Atk / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Belly Drum- Substitute- Drain Punch- Seed BombScizor @ LeftoversAbility: TechnicianEVs: 248 HP / 60 Def / 200 SpDImpish Nature- Defog- Roost- Bullet Punch- U-turnRotom-Wash @ LeftoversAbility: LevitateEVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpeBold Nature- Volt Switch- Hydro Pump- Will-O-Wisp- Pain SplitLandorus-Therian @ Soft SandAbility: IntimidateEVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 SpeAdamant Nature- Earthquake- U-turn- Stone Edge- Stealth RockHoundoom @ HoundoominiteAbility: Flash FireEVs: 40 HP / 8 Def / 208 SpA / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Nasty Plot- Fire Blast- Dark Pulse- Will-O-WispLatios @ Life OrbAbility: LevitateEVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Draco Meteor- Psyshock- Surf- Defog 1. Pick a 'mon to build around - Chesnaught - Chesnaught is my favorite Pokemon. I decided to run the really wacky Belly Drum set on Smogon's OU listings for it. Chesnaught was BLESSED in ORAS with great Tutor moves like Drain Punch (which will replace the Sitrus Berry Azumarill usually boasts) and with the help of the Salac Berry and Substitute, Chesnaught reaches max attack power and is able to outspeed things....like....Latios somehowsometimes........weird - but I LIKE IT. 2. Pick a core - FWG - The next thing I wanted to get out of the way was a tight bond between Chesnaught, a Fire type Mega, and a standard OU water type. I decided that 1 - Chesnaught needed a slow turner, and 2 - to use Mega Houndoom as a Special Attack Sweeper/Utility Attacker. Mega Houndoom is an often forgotten Pokemon and isn't very keen due to the Stealth Rocks weakness and Fairies galore in the current meta - but with Nasty Plot it just needs one turn to set up if it gets the opportunity and in games it would sturrgle in it would at least provide more burn support along with Rotom-Wash. This core consists of a physically bulky pair and a good synergy with Mega Houndoom as any Psychic type attacks aimed at Chesnaught will be nulled - and any Water type attacks aimed 'Doom will be soaked up by Chesnaught in return. Rotom manages against Azumarill - leaving the only threat from the Fairy type coming from the Special side of the board... 3. Shore up weakness - Special Fairies - I decided to go with defensive normal Scizor here - although the only really wonky thing about my team is that I have two defoggers. I don't know what I could swap out Defog for between either Scizor or Latios - so there's where you guys can help me. 4. Hazard Control - Landorus-Therian / Latios - I decided to go with Offensive Non-Choice Landorus-T and Latios to take care of my hazards. Between the four OU Pokemon on my team, the goal is to just chip away at the opposing team for the other two to finish the job. Rotom and Landorus-T form a VoltTurn core with each other and could use those moves to bring in Chesnaught or Houndoom after getting off chip damage. Latios runs Surf to deal with opposing Ground and Rock types for Mega Houndoom as well as Fire types for Chesnaught. ----- Chesnaught and Mega Houndoom - Sweepers Rotom-Wash and Scizor - Defensive Walls Latios - Hazard controller and Special Attacker Landorus-Therian - Stealth Rock setter Rotom and Landrous - Volt-Turn companions Houndoom and Rotom - Burn Spreading Have at it.... and watch this to get a kick out of how bad I am at Pokemon. :] http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-264867574
Tomas Elliot
I personally would go 252 HP 252+ Atk (with lefties) on Lando, because this team desperately needs something to switch into Mold Breaker Excadrill, not to mention the fact that, with the spread, Lando will find it easier to counter Talonflame, taking some pressure off Rotom (who already has to deal with the likes of Keldeo). And since you asked for it, Knock Off over Defog on Scizor, that move is just too good NOT to run, and Latios is the superior defogger anyway on the account of forcing lots of switches, thus getting many free turns. And if I REALLY must to get nitpicky, I think you shouldn't run BOTH WoW AND Nasty Plot on Houndoom because there is no chance in hell that the guy can stay alive that long. Replace either with Sucker Punch for a surprise prio move that will finish off faster threats that are worn down. Also I don't really get those 8 Def EVs. Overall, I like this team, Belly Drum Chesnaught is so crazy it could actually work, kudos for attempting it EDIT: after watching the replay, I would like to add to the above that the set I am suggesting for Lando would have been a MUCH safer switch-in against Garchomp, so there's that as well. And that crit with Drain Punch did not matter by the way, sore losers be damned.
Odybld
Unaware Clefable won't be inclined to care much about this team. You have three Fairy weaknesses and Scizor lacks both investment and SD. I suggest getting rid of both WoW and NP for Sucker Punch (to deal with scarfed revengekillers) and Sludge Wave (to do some damage to Fairies as well). Let's face it, Karen's favourite hellhound is weak to two different prio moves with all OU users resisting SP (Azu, Crawd, Breloom and Conk) and between rocks, taking an attack to set up, scarfs and priority, it will be taken out quickly. Still, Unaware Clefable is a thing, so how about swaping Defog for Spin and Latios with either Starmie (lets you keep your rocks up to scout Clefable, isn't weak to Fairies, great coverage options and speed) or Mold Breaker Excadrill (kills Clefable and other fairies, kills a lot of things, lets you keep your rocks up, has a less than exciting speed tier) or offensive Tentacruel (keeps the rocks, fishes for Scald burns, hits Fairies with Sludge Wave, hates Psyshock and EQ so redirect these attacks to Houndoom, Rotom or Chesnaught respectively) I like the BD set. It will do quite some work. Edit: whoooopsie daisy! Houndoom takes neutral damage from Fairies. I totally forgot about Fire resisting Fairy. Still, don't mess around and add some juice against them. I stand by my suggestions. Edited August 30, 2015 by Odybld
Synchronoise
Sup! M-Doom's a very interesting choice for a mega. With the immense speed creeps we've been facing since ORAS was implemented, Doom sits in a comfortable speed tier that outspeeds a great majority of common threats, from M-Meta to M-Bro One thing I've noticed about the team off-hand is that you're running two defoggers, which even in teams with multiple S-Rock weaknesses is a little too excessive. Because of this, I recommend running either Bulky SD Scizor > Defog Scizor, or running TrickSpecs Latios > Defog Latios Besides that, I'd also recommend running Smack Down > Stone Edge if you're planning on running Soft Sand Lando. Most checks to Lando depend on their immunity to ground moves, and smack down snatches you momentum on these mons With regards to Chesnaught, Bulletproof is a much better option over Overgrow, even on BD sets, since the Bulletproof lets you more reliably set up on stuff like M-Venu, who you end up losing to if you get rid of Bulletproof With regards to the team as a whole, there are quite a few issues that you need to look into. Your team has no reliable answer to stall, particularly M-Eye based stall. Something you can do to alleviate this is to either run Stallbreaker Gliscor/TG+RD Manaphy Similarly, the team also has issues with HO teams, and it desperately wants speed control. You could probably choose to run Prankster+T-wave Thudurus/Klefki to help slow down the opponent. Alternatively, running Thunder Wave > Pain Split on Rotom-W or switching Soft Sand Lando-T > Scarf Lando-T With regards to individual threats, M-Alt and X-Char are two mons that most of your team have trouble dealing with. Nobody appreciates switching into these two, with Sciz fearing Fire Blast from M-Alt, while Rotom-W lacks the recovery to consistently check X-Char, letting him wear you down easily. In a similar vein, trappers like Zone and Goth hamper your team immensely, since you're heavily dependant on Scizor as a blanket check to most mons. Fat stuff like M-Hera, as well as stuff like Hoopa-U and Kyu-B also place an incredible amount of pressure on your team, so you might want to find multiple ways to deal with them Good balance teams are honestly very difficult to build right now. If you need a space in the team to compress more roles, Latios atm is relatively redundant
