Zen
Technically not a traditional wrecking ball, but it does serve its purpose in slowing down the opposition The idea developed from Terra's old triple Pledge team, but this one's arguably a tad more practical since it doesn't require two combined moves for the speed reduction. This was made for doubles, but in triples with serperior at the centre, it could possibly be considerably damaging. --- Torterra (M) @ Yache Berry Trait: Shell Armor EVs: 116 Atk / 136 Def / 255 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Rock Slide - Seed Bomb - Bulldoze - Sunny Day --- Serperior (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Contrary EVs: 36 Def / 255 SAtk / 36 SDef / 180 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Leaf Storm - Giga Drain - Hidden Power [Fire] - Taunt --- Sceptile (M) @ Rock Gem Trait: Unburden EVs: 255 Atk / 136 Def / 116 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Leaf Blade - Rock Slide - Bulldoze - Crunch --- Tropius (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 52 Def / 255 SAtk / 28 SDef / 172 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Air Slash - SolarBeam - Hidden Power [ice] - Sunny Day --- Venusaur (M) @ Black Sludge Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 116 Def / 255 SAtk / 136 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - SolarBeam - Sludge Bomb - Hidden Power [Fire] - Bulldoze --- Jumpluff (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 76 Def / 255 SAtk / 176 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Giga Drain - Worry Seed - Sleep Powder - Sunny Day --- So, what is the concept of this team? Basically, it works to slow down the opponents by using Bulldoze to lower their speed. Serperior's Contrary raises its speed every time Bulldoze hits it, and a Life Orb backing Giga Drain ensures that it can regenerate HP one it has raised its SAtk with Leaf Storm. The other parts of the team are all grass/flying types, so Bulldoze won't affect them. Jumpluff/tropius/torterra have Sunny Day as a backup plan, since tropius and venusaur have Chlorophyll (in the event of enemies with Levitate, or flying targets). One thing to note is that the team is basically divided into pairs, so you might have to redesign things a little if you wanted to use it differently (torterra/sceptile/venusaur for Bulldoze, serperior/tropius/jumpluff to benefit from it). Zen
But I wouldn't slap on 255 EVs since you could put those extra 3 EVs to good use in another stat. That Fire/Ice/Flying weakness bites like a bitch. Hmm, I'm not too sure how the maths works out for them, but so far all of them have a balance of defence and offence. Speed's not so much of an issue due to the Bulldozing, or the Chlorophyll. However, the weaknesses you pointed out are indeed there - am mentally reworking the movesets and EV's to see how they'd compensate for that. Currently, sceptile seems to be the fastest on his own, with a speed of 610 once Unburden kicks in. Also, if the pairs are seperated, the team won't be able to function properly right? So for example, if you slip up and send out the wrong Pokemon, and I kill that off, that'll ruin one pair? Oh, I tried to avoid that. Which is why torterra has Sunny Day, and so on - even those that should be Bulldozing have the ability to jump-start the Chlorophyll if need be, stuff like that. However, to an extent, you are still right; the type coverage between the pairs isn't the best it could be, so I'm still going to experiment with this mix. Zen
Same concept in the water monotype. --- Concretion (Cloyster) (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Skill Link EVs: 236 Atk / 16 Def / 255 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Icicle Spear - Rock Blast - Shell Smash --- Epiphora (Politoed) (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Drizzle EVs: 176 Def / 255 SAtk / 76 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Surf - Ice Beam - Perish Song - Protect --- KP (Seismitoad) (M) @ Rindo Berry Trait: Swift Swim EVs: 56 Def / 232 SAtk / 56 SDef / 164 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Bulldoze - Scald - Earth Power - Sludge Bomb --- Cataract (Gyarados) (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Moxie EVs: 112 Atk / 140 Def / 255 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Waterfall - Ice Fang - Earthquake - Dragon Dance --- VKH (Quagsire) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Unaware EVs: 200 Atk / 116 Def / 192 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Waterfall - Bulldoze - Recover - Rain Dance --- Mucormycosis (Ludicolo) (M) @ Lum Berry Trait: Swift Swim EVs: 96 Def / 212 SAtk / 200 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Surf - Giga Drain - Ice Beam - Leech Seed --- Similar, but possibly more annoying to deal with since politoed has Drizzle, as opposed to the manual Sun in the grass version. Quagsire's there to negate electricity somewhat, as well as to be capable of Bulldozing even while a pimped gyarados uses Earthquake. Unaware allows the darling to survive a pimped, Moxied attack, after all. Swift Swim coupled with Bulldoze is also a decent means of countering Speed Boost, come to think of it. Zen
However if you subtract Quagsire and Gyarados from the equation, you're bunkered down. But why does Ludicolo have Leech Seed, if it already has Giga Drain? Is it for multiple recovery? Umm, what do you mean by 'bunkered down'? Never heard that phrase before. Ludicolo's Leech Seed is for double recovery, yes. And also in case I run into shedinja, somehow. I tend to use Leech Seed, and then switch out the Seeder, though - lets something else get healed. Zen
Bunkered down, it's my own term, generally refers to stuck, or holding out. Fair enough - although really, any decent pokemon with Bulldoze could fit the mold. Stuff like gastrodon, carracosta, empoleon, etc. are all viable
Zen
Alas, that's also what kills them occasionally - the detonators fail to trigger XD Hmm, come to think of it, Bulldoze could be adapted to a wide range of types for doubles/triples. I'm thinking ground/rock/steel/fighting, possibly - fighting/steel would rely less on weather, though, and more on pure power.
