Tacos
Ok so I finished True Pacifist and am going on to do the Genocide Run, and I'm trying my best to kill everyone in the Ruins, but it seems as if I'm no longer getting any encounters. I fucked up killing the froggit that toriel chases away from you because I wasn't paying attention and my hit on it didn't kill it. Is this what's holding me back from killing everything in the Ruins?
Aishi
btw, i don't know if anyone has asked this before but top 3 of favourite undertale characters? mine's like this: 1. mettaton / sans (its a tie) 2. undyne 3. papyrus 1. Alphys (I see a lot of myself in her) 2. Flowey (IDK DON'T JUDGE ME) 3. Sans (I'm sorry Papy ;~; )
Juniper
My top 3 are: Flowey Chara Alphys ... I don't know.. Also, @Tacos, After each encounter in Genocide when you kill the enemy that shows up, the next encounter will take longer and longer. I was worried at first, but you just have to keep walking around to find it. You'll have to do this once in RUINS, once in Waterfall, Once for the forest too and then again in Hotlands (Core counts as hotlands) If you check the save pints after starting genocide, it will say "X Left" X being the number of enemies you have left to kill in the area. Certain bosses like Muffet and Mtt count towards this, but just to be safe, I recommend killing the designated amount of enemies in an area before continuing. For the forest part, I actually didn't kill everything, went and fought papyrus on non-genoide (As in, it wasn't a one hit kill, I actually had to fight him) Then went back and killed them. This still works, my genocide run was still succesful, but the people were all still in snowdin and I fought papyrus the regular way, so it kind of took away from the effect tbh. That's why I recommend killing everything first, the fact that you're still on genocide will alter dialogue and things. Have fun ^^
biboo195
1. Sans (He's the coolest guy around) 2. Undyne (That cooking lesson though) 3. Flowey (He's a very interesting character) Edited December 27, 2015 by biboo195
Another Felix
Do you fight Sans if you gain any exp throughout the game, or only if you kill everything?
Combat
@Tacos If you get the messages "But nobody came." when battling, it means you've already completed Genocide for that specific area. Also, this is just personal discretion but, after fighting Sans, DON'T enter the throne room. That'll basically be the nail in your coffin. But if you want to see the Genocide Ending, feel free. Also, I wish you luck! c: I for one second this statement. As for favorite characters, I think I like Jerry Papyrus the most. Is quirky personality coupled by his vast amount of quotable quotes just makes me smile. Sans takes close second, because skeleton puns. Mettaton and Undyne tie for third place, as Undyne has a really interesting backstory/personality while Mettaton has legs.
Alchemia Chan
My top three favorites would be: 1. Sans 2. Undyne 3. Mettaton/Alphys Tori and Papyrus are just beneath the four.

I fucked up killing the froggit that toriel chases away from you because I wasn't paying attention and my hit on it didn't kill it. Is this what's holding me back from killing everything in the Ruins? What Shia said. Here's a step-by-step guide if you're still unsure. 1. After waking up in the Ruins, progress with the game as usual until you reach the room with a Save Point in the leaves. This area allows the player to have random encounters with monsters. 2. Stay in this room and walk around to grind random encounters. Whenever you trigger a random encounter, kill all monsters. As you continue to grind, the random encounter rate will gradually drop until you're only getting around one encounter every minute. 3. Continue grinding encounters in this area until you get the encounter below: By getting this encounter, you have initiated the Genocide route. and about the throne room thing, basically, there's a jumpscare sorta thing that might happen. and what's more, after said jumpscare, your screen'll turn black and you can't reset, start the game, anything. You'll have to wait for 10 minutes. Keep this in mind if you decide to go in. haaave fuuun~ Do you fight Sans if you gain any exp throughout the game, or only if you kill everything? Sans' boss fight occurs only if you kill everything, aka initiate the genocide run. If you gain EXP. you're still in a neutral run.

Vandaeron
What Shia said. Here's a step-by-step guide if you're still unsure. 1. If you gain EXP. you're still in a neutral run. One tip for Genociding I've come up with: Every time you get an encounter, exit and re-enter the room. Encounter rates are actually fixed, and then that step counter is modified by how many enemies you've killed in the area. The reason for reloading each encounter is that the encounter rate is defined such that, in a pacifist playthrough, you'll always encounter an enemy in the time it takes you to traverse the room, but you'll only get more if you dilly-dally. I think some rooms are designed to give you 2 encounters in a normal trip through, but you get the idea. It'll still take more steps to reach the first encounter in a room, but the time necessary is much, much lower than the time between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, etc. Presumably this fixed encounter rate business was originally designed to avoid typical RPG frustrations of being frequently distracted from navigation. This is also why, in the vast majority of cases, encounters never occur in rooms with puzzles or some other event which requires focus. Veterans Zumi Posted December 28, 2015 Veterans Share Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) ...just realized something i think flowey is supposed to be white with yellow petals? lol I believe that's artwork from the Kickstarter, so it's pretty old actually! I think it was from like... 2014??? So I think a lot of things for designs weren't finalized at that point. Flowey probably ended up having yellow petals with a white flower heart after all, instead of white petals and a yellow heart. Juniper
Tips for Undyne- Get some healing items and, Just keep doing it over and over. You'll learn the patterns for the arrows from practice. You just need fast reflexes. It'll be the same with Sans really. You'll get it eventually. It took me hours the first time. I know, this is super helpful x.x Edited December 29, 2015 by Juuzou
