i couldn't find one anywhere, so i decided to make one. <:

they should at least be acknowledged for their work, yeah?

also, here's a list of all of em.

MAIN SERIES

Professor Samuel Oak (KANTO) - human relationships with Pokemon

appears in most generations, is also the first ever NPC to be introduced in the history of Pokemon.

Professor Elm (JOHTO) - Pokemon breeding

the first to discover that Pikachu was an evolved Pokemon .

Professor Birch (HOENN) - habitats and distribution

the amount of Pokemon in Hoenn were much, much, more diverse 3,000 years ago according to Birch.

Professor Rowan (SINNOH) - evolution

it was mentioned that he loves sweets and candy

Professor Aurea Juniper (UNOVA) - origins of Pokemon

previously travelled around the world with her father

Professor Augustine Sycamore (KALOS) - mega evolution

studied under Rowan for some time

Dr. Fuji - apparently has some ties with the creation of Mewtwo.

Blaine - is also mentioned to have been a scientist at some point.

Professor Takao Cozmo - a meteoriticist of Fallarbor, Hoenn (technically not a Pokemon researcher but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Fennel - Juniper's college friend who studies Pokemon dreams in StriatonBW/CasteliaBW2, Unova.

Cedric Juniper - renowed Pokemon researcher. specializes in Pokemon distribution and biology...used to, anyways.

Professor Andrew Park - runs the Poke Transfer Lab in route 13, Unova.

Colress - a curios researcher who studies Pokemon strength.

Bugsy - is mentioned and claimed to be a bug-type researcher.

SIDE & SPIN-OFFs

Prof. Krane of Orre, who specializes in the purification of Shadown Pokemon.

Dr. Kaminko of Orre, who is responsible with the creation of Robo-Pokemon.

Prof. Hastings of Oblivia, Fiore, and Almia, who created the Capture-styler for Rangers.

ANIME

Professor Ivy (Orange Isles) - studies the regional differences between Pokemon.

(there're a LOT more but i've never watched the anime so idk if they're even important..)

Probably Professor Birch, more involvement in the plot as rival's father, which is unprecedented in the franchise(if i didnt miss anything), and his outfit is casual which gives you a very friendly vibe, and also the fact that he and his wife are family friend of player character's family~

Juniper, because she's a girl and her theme always puts a smile on my face.

Rowan and Birch would follow

Sycamore is irresponsible and felt really unbelievable in how he handled Lysandre.

Oak is fine, but I like the designs of the above 4 more. His theme is cool too.

Elm is the most forgettable.

screw Kennel. Dreamworld ftl.

For the non-introductory professors, Colress is by far my favorite. I don't like how he gets off scott free from aiding Plasma though, really pokemon has gotten really weird with this since BW2 where villains are basically getting away with a lot more than they should.

I like Colress a lot actually. When I first heard about him being added to Gen 5 I was super hyped. He ended up having his own battle theme as well which was super cool. I hope Nintendo starts doing more of those soon actually. DOGARS/POKEMON was super neat, as was Colress' battle theme.

yeah, Birch was really goofy. i like him :^)

Prof. Park is basically me 24/7 in terms of personality

and yeah, Colress was respectable. his battle theme has gotta be my favourite out of all the evil bosses. second is Lysandre.

i really hope he makes a reappearance in future games. i wanna hear an update about his "bring out the full potential of a Pokemon" research.

pls GF make it happen

as for my fav researcher, it's Cozmo. because coincidentally, my father gave me a telescope when i was little while he was working overseas before he was...well, divorced, just like Prof. Cozmo. which is weird. and amusing.

I just realized that Birch and Elm are really different.

Elm's always cooped up in his lab doing his work to the point where his child really wishes he could at least eat dinner with him.

unlike Birch who loves to go out to do his field research. he's barely ever in his laboratory. never neglects his kid, too.

but my fav actual Pokemon Professor is Juniper.

she takes N's harsh criticism in Chargestone cave pretty well, and we need more people like her ok. and i love her as a character too, and this dialogue always makes me smile:

">Player<!"

">Player<!!!!"

"HELLO? >PLAYER<!!!"

"Oh! You picked up..."

Of the introductory professors, they all have a very unique expertise and it's hard to pick one, even with Rowan in the bunch (due to having not played a Gen 4 game very much at all) that really stands out, but I guess I will go ahead and say my favorite is Professor Birch, of Hoenn.

Birch, like all of the introductory professors, has a childlike fascination with 'Mons and it comes coupled, as with the other introductory professors again, with a degree of dopey dialogue and behavior. However, as was already pointed out, the Hoenn Prof. has a distinguishable secondary role as your father's friend and thus a friend to your family. There are endearing cutscenes throughout ORAS that indicate Birch's involvement with the story being significantly greater than that of just being the game's 'Dex handler. Furthermore, the father of your primary rival in the Generation III titles just so happens to again - be Prof. Birch - adding to that family dynamic even more by binding the protagonist's family to your rivals. And yet again, in that regard, the most current version of the game delivers in telling that part of the story too.

Birch's topic of study however, is ultimately what makes him separate from the pack along with Cedric Juniper. Distribution of Pokemon, as someone who likes to catch as many as possible, is one of the most important topics to me as a trainer, and for those of you that didn't know...

After beating Wallace in ORAS, you can return to Birch in Littleroot to upgrade to the national Pokedex, with Birch noting the return of some foreign Pokemon to the region folliowing primal Groudon/Kyogre's departure. This allows us as trainers to use Pokemon from later generations against the Elite Four - the first time you face them!

Continuing with the well fleshed out theme - Colress is probably my favorite professor of them all too.
