Darvan Korematsu Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Yo Reborn. It's Darv again, and I am gonna try out something interesting in terms of a Reborn run. Although before I do it, I am gonna require a little help from you guys if you're interested in reading a run like this one. The basic premise of this run was to emulate the crew of the Straw Hat Pirates from the anime One Piece. There will be a couple rules before I do this, that I know I will abide by, but there's some things I still need advice on. Buuuutttt..... Basic Rules - My player character will be named Mary, after the Straw Hat's first ship: the Going Merry. This trainer is the vessel that will carry her crew into the New World. - Each Pokemon will be named after one of the Straw Hat crew, and must keep that name. - I must keep my captain (the Pokemon being Luffy) in my party at all times, because a vessel goes astray without its trusty captain. I can bring any other of the five crew members I wish at any time. - No crew member left behind. Once I obtain a Pokemon by the namesake of its character, it stays on my team for good. - As long as I have the captain first, there is no particular order I have to obtain the other crew members. - Each character will be as closely represented by one or more of their anime traits, through Pokemon, whether it be Abilitylock, movelock, or namelock, nature/typelock, and Guidelines for each character will be provided below. - Oh and all Pokemon will be obtained legitimately The Crew This is where I need help. Anyone labeled with a question mark, I cannot deduce a good restriction to impose on them, based on their traits: The Captain - Luffy: The main man, Monkey D. Luffy. He will be determined by a name/species lock. He will be a primate in one way or another. Sadly I am sure y'all know the only monkey Pokemon early in the game. The Swordsman - Zorro: Any Pokemon with blades on its form, and preferably if it could learn Swords Dance, shall emulate Zorro. The Cook - "Black Leg" Sanji: Any Pokemon emulating Sanji must learn at least one kick move, and preferably learn no move that would use the hands. Or otherwise use it rarely. The Sniper - Usopp: This Pokemon must have the Ability of Sniper. The Doctor - Chopper: Any deer Pokemon will fulfill the role of Chopper The Navigator - Nami: The navigator Nami must be a Pokemon whose nature must have an influence on the weather, or otherwise must learn a weather TM. The Archaeologist - Robin?: Robin is the tough one that I can't quite lay a finger on in terms of how to choose a Pokemon to emulate her The Shipwright - Franky: Our sturdy shipwright must have a heavy armor plating and/or cybernetic origins by nature. The Musician - Brooke: The jonty skeleton man Brooke must either be a Ghost type of mischevious nature, or become a maker of music/noise. Well that's all I got for now. If you got any other rules you think I should abide by, or help with the Character Guidelines, feel free to voice an opinion. I would prefer to do this right in the very least. AuthorReborn Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Luffy: Chimchar would be your best bet Zorro: SD users.., well the best are Gallade, Crawdaunt, Excadrill, Absol, and Lucario. Leafeon isn't bad either. Take your pick from there. Sanji: Hitmonlee (that was an easy one) Usopp: Kingdra would be best imo, but Drapion ain't bad either Chopper: Deerling/Sawbuck are awesome (especially in the Sun, see Nami) Nami: Vulpix is really awesome for Chlorophyl Sawbuck, otherwise wait until Politoed becomes availible for Ultimate Kingdra power. Robin: I'll leave that to others. Franky: Metagross would be ideal, although Golurk could also fit this role. Brooke: I'd say Mismagius, but Exploud is another option. Gonna need a good base starter, and you don't get any more diverse than an infernape. Flare blitz, thunder punch, earthquake and close combat? yea, good luck pal. as for Zorro, i would pick either a Gallade or a Bisharp. Blades and all that. For Nami, i would assume a castform, or one of the 3 weather trio legendaries XD. For Chopper, i would go with Sawsbuck. In terms of battling, it isn't half bad. or you know...Xerneas XD. For Franky, is there really any other option other than Aggron? Other than that i would say Tyranitar, but those aren't in game yet....For brooke, i would say either Gengar or Chandelure. Unfortunately Gengar was taken out of the meta....maybe Mismagius? I also agree with author on the kingdra. In terms of both pirate stuffs and sniper, there isn't a much better pick. Darvan Korematsu Posted November 19, 2015 Author Share Posted November 19, 2015 Quite honestly the biggest problem I still have is how to distnguish Robin as a Pokemon. She has a bunch of different distinguishing traits. There is her flower Devil Fruit, destructive/deceptive nature, pseudo esper abilities, and a lot of reading done. I'm not sure what to pick out from all of these. Also I'm gonna change the rule regarding keeping crew members, because most of the suitable Pokemon for the crew in the later game aren't available until about gym 4 or 5. So the team will be adjusted to have crew members who still fit the traits I have already set forth. When a better Pokemon that can replace a crew member comes along, I should replace it. Commander Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 I'm not that into one piece but from the little bit of wiki I read from Robin, Absol wouldn't be that bad of a choice considering it's the disaster Pokemon and everything bad that happened or will happen it is summoned (up until the point you catch it that is). Shad_ Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) Luffy: Infernape/Emboar (well this one is mainly referred to Gear 4th since Luffy becomes a lot bigger after it) Zoro: Gallade is the right choice imho (the best would be Scyther but it's not in the game so nvm) Sanji: I like the idea of Skullgasher about Blaziken, but if you choose Chimchar as starter the only option left are Hitmonlee/Lucario Nami: The right choice is Castform (Nami has weather related powers, just like Castform) Franky: Golurk is the one which resembles Franky the most Usopp: Kingdra without any doubt Chopper: Stantler (dunno if it's avliavable though) or Sawsbuck Robin: Gothitelle, Gothita's event is in a library, so it could be a good idea Brooke: Cofagrigus/Dusknoir (skeletons)? Also, i suggest you to include as characters the captains of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, i leave some possible choices in the spoiler ATTENTION, SPOILERS BELOW Cavendish: Zebstrika (Cavendish has a white horse so maybe this could be an option) or Rapidash maybe? Bartolomeo: You need a screener for this one, and the perfect choice is Meowstic M Sai: Sai hits the enemies with spin-kicks so maybe Hitmontop? Ideo: It's a boxer, so it's definitely Hitmonchan Leo: You need a really small pokemon for this one, Dedenne/Pachirisu? The smallest one is tecnically Flabébé but Florges is definitely big Hajrudin: Aggron or Gigalith, you need big pokemon to emulate him Orlumbus: I have some troubles for this...you need a prideful pokemon which screams a lot, Exploud? Don't forget Law, it's not a captain of the Fleet but why not ? Odybld Posted November 19, 2015 Share Posted November 19, 2015 I throw my body in front of Infernape as Luffy. NO EFFIN WAY. That is literally Son Goku. The only Monkey that matches Luffy is, well, Ambipom. GOD Usopp just has to be Octillery. Kinda weak in comparison to many others, Sniper, it also has Moody which fits Usopp's character, and most importantly and in contrast to Kingdra it learns a shitload of either projectile (Bullet Seed, Rock Blast) or Beam attacks, just like the various things Usopp can fire. Perfect. Btw, you can always have Pokemon put into your save file, so, don't worry about picking only from what's available or whenever it is available Sawsbuck is too much of a plant. Stantler?
