Shelly's Pokemon

So I'm working on a story about Pokemon Reborn and I wanted to know more about Shelly's Pokemon when she teams up with the player to chase after Blake.

Besides Heather the Yanmega, and Bugsy the Volbeat I saw Cain the Scolipede and Noel the Vivillon. Does anyone know the rest of her Pokemon at this point? I didn't get to see the others since she never ran out of Pokemon with me.

I'm planning on naming her Masquerain, Illumise, Wormadam, and Anorith (Later Armaldo) to give her consistency, as well as give her two new bug Pokemon for my two main characters.

I kinda wish we knew who the reserve leader for the bug type was, cause I could use their name as one of Shelly's nicknames. I'm assuming she knows who they are.

Tbh, I can't really recommend it as it is kind of important why only two Pokemon are nicknamed during her gym battle. It pretty much shows her shyness in that she only has one friend and later down the line you kind of see what Anna was telling her as she started opening up to a few people like Cain, Anna, and Noel. It's very similar to why Cal uses a Medicham.

But yeah, nicknames for leader Pokemon I believe for the most part are the ones leaders used for the actual league. Luna's Pokemon are all nicknamed after Alice in Wonderland characters while Terra...is just Terra. I'm not sure about Shelly, but she was replaced with Bennett in later seasons and he was the last bug leader.

I'm pretty sure the Illumise is left nameless because it would be named after the player character except for the fact that it would be horrendously complicated to code a custom name.

But yeah, you might want to use that one to represent one of yours.

I mean, I guess you could, but outside of the game's mechanics, I feel like changing the name of your Pokemon would be like suddenly changing the name of your Dog. Besides, I'm going for her naming all of her Pokemon after the people she knows, which would mean that she has already named her Illumise if that were the case.

In that dog analogy, the dog's name would just be "Dog." Perhaps "German Shepherd" or "Border Collie." Changing a pet's name from its species (or breed) to something unique isn't unusual at all.

She has the Illumise before she meets you though so it couldn't be named after your character... unless she can see the future.

Well, in-game, only Bugsy and Heather are already nicknamed by the time you meet Shelly.

She doesn't believe that she has any friends besides Heather at that point, after all. The other Pokémon in her team only gain their nicknames later in the game, after Shelly gets caught up in the affairs at the orphanage and befriends the other characters.

Naming Illumise after the player character would, as Sheep pointed out, have been difficult to pull off, but it'd be a believable decision on her part.

If you're writing a setting where Shelly is introduced before meeting the orphans & company, it would be more believable if she nicknamed her Pokémon as time goes on, rather than having them all named from the start.

If your story has her meet all the other characters before the protagonist/whoever, then it might make sense for Illumise to be named after someone else.
