ah yes, because if there's any way to get on Aurora's good side, it's certainly interfering with a hunt and ruining everything by killing the prey she was stalking.

yeah... this is gonna be real fun, I can just tell.

Heh, let the games begin eh?

hmm....ugg i really should post something but i honestly can't think of anything and i feel if i do it will break the flow of whats been going on i hate that feeling.

Well it seems that Hukuna is still moving things along, but you can go ahead and post if you'd like. The castle is in the middle of celebrations so you can go ahead and mingle with some of the other PC's or even some NPC's.

It's pretty much free roam right now so just go crazy.

Yea you can do whatever for now. Feeeeeel Free. It's going to be a little more obvious when shit is going down that will involve pretty much every PC. ((also, remember you're allowed to make up NPCs etc... just keeping in mind that other people can use them too.)) I'm actually going to probably write up a list of the ones that exist already and slap it somewhere for reference. Probably give a small idea of what they are like and their relations to characters already.

and yea. I'm working on getting into the truly free section of the RP for you guys lol, it's jsut taking me longer than expected. I do apologize for that.

After reading up on this, I find it pretty interesting... I haven't done an RP on Reborn yet, but gotta start somewhere, right? Assuming you're still accepting new characters

I'll leave the rest of this post as a WIP for the character, I guess?

Well I'm not, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT... once I get this out of Castle Dour I think I'm going to open it up again for a short window. I'd still make you're character so I can give it a gander ahead of time though even if I don't end up opening up the sign-ups. ((oh and by the way, events in the world can effect the sort of characters you can make. For instance... once Dour is open... you can play a creature who never was from Dour, or has no idea what it is XD.))

However you guys don't really have to 100% wait on me when your not interacting in a scene I'm also doing ya know... right lol? You can jsut do stuff XD. So what's up? ((I know that Murdoc's waiting on me a bit I do apologize as well as probably Pyon.)) But everyone else should be fine to keep doing their thing.

Also, when I finish up the Castle Section I'm thinking of reopening the RP to usher in a few new players. WHat do you guys think about that?

I mean it'd be highly apt if it was literal. It's a soul effecting attack though ((like it'd kill an Undead being as well.)). It only collapsed Gale's heart because he was so weak already that he just couldn't survive a literal hole being torn into his soul. Okay well, it can harm them physically as well... but that's only becuase the heart is a physical manifestation of the soul... or an anchor for it if you will.

I can't say that's in correct way to think of it, but he didn't leave a hole when he removed his arm from Gale, as his arm phased through him. It's a really weird spell to be honest... hence why it's Azegeor's signature. No one knows how to do it except for him and he probably couldn't teach to to someone. It actually comes from that moment I described in the most recent scene. That scene is the Heartstopper Grasp's origin. It is that feeling of nothingness and utter defeat that birthed it so to speak. So... it's a figurative crushed and a literal crushing of the spirit. ((after all... Signatures come from profound moments of character development... well... perhaps anything after the first.))

((I actually more or less lifted it from Overlord, but even from there... heavily altered it to be a more metaphorical thing than a truly 100% "I'm literally tearing out your heart." thingie XD>))

So Big Announcement, I am reopening Heartless Souls for sign-ups!!! Now, I'm not at the point where the characters will be approved for play yet however, I am at the point where I will be allowing more in. The thing is, I want to be able to read through them all etc... while I'm worrying about getting the story to the stage that they can come in. Now, some changes.

Characters can now be created from locations outside of Castle Dour. They can have origins relating to many many other things. The only thing I ask... is that giant multi-cultural monster towns be left out. The reason being is that Dour is an anomaly within monster culture, as well as the City that once resided around it, Underdark. No other meeting of monster species has really ever turned out as anything less than pretty hostile, and would never remotely have the chance of working. So, characters should if they are from groups come from tribes etc,,, of monsters that are of their same species or very close. ((I could see like a few different types of Beastman getting along in like clan alliances, but nothing too much more removed than that.)) Underdark is a legend because it's the ONLY city of monsters ((or was before it was razed to the ground.)) so other ones simply just don't exist quite like Castle Dour. So, please keep this in mind while writing up characters.

((note, characters such as dopplegnagers/ or werebeasts living amongst humanity and hiding within human, or other Free Races cities is TOTALLY coooooooool.))

Characters once Castle Dour is open no longer must have ties to Dour. HOWEVER!!! Keep in mind a lot outside of Dour is a lot less definied and known. You'll have to do more work with your character narratively as a result. It'd be a much harder workload.

After I start up the second phase of the RP, or, once Castle Dour is open, I will be trying to keep players more active. Please try to be posting at least once a week, and make sure I have an idea of where you are or if you're taking a hiatus for some reason or another. If you don't say anything I will assume you've lost interest and remove your character from play. ((or bunny them long enough to move on the scene with any other players and then remove them.)) You've bene warned now and I will once Stage 2 starts reflect this within the OP.

ANyway, I'll probably be working on an update for the existing palyers tomorrow in their interacitons with me. any existing players that aren't currently within interactions PLEASE POST something Immediately. I you don't post something between now, and when I have Castle Dour opened I'm going to assume you've lost interest and do as above. Remember, a lot of Heartless Souls is up to YOU to create and I can't really be starting interactions for all of you. Think of me as just another player. You've a lot more free reign in this RP and I'd like you guys to start exercising it. There's a reason I wanted each player to set the scene's for their character's introduction. BECAUSE you need to know how to set scenes and start your own action in this RP. You may ask other players through Ivna to pick up other characters ((hence why I added a character that handles OOC conversations to the game.)) or through pm'ing them to get things sorted.

Anyway, For new players, I hope you will enjoy this RP, and playing along with the rest of us once I get things settled. If you have any questions about character creation please don't hesitate to ask me either here, or via pm. Anyway, Hukuna Sensei, out~

I'll supply a link to my character here. I'm going to use the modified version of Trebuchet that I made from your feedback; I hope that he's more to your liking now.

Just post something telling me if you want to interact and we can get how it plays out/starts in a PM.

Count me in! I´m gonna write my character right away.

Question: are half-human / demi-human characters allowed? I think it would be interesting to see how well would one be accepted among monsters, and humans.

Nope. Heartless is 100% about palyin' Monsters. It's kinda the point. The closest would be Werefolk as they have a human form or a Doppleganger who jsut really likes and prefers a human/demi-human form.

Name: Agura, Age: 163

Race: Phoenix-Hybrid (Primal Spirit)

Racials:

Phoenician Regeneration:

Any damage Phoenixes take from Fire damage heals instead.

Natural Weapons

Agura uses the talons on his feet and hands as slashing weapons.

(Note:)

Agura's power draws from a limited well of fire magic inherent to phoenixes. Resting or absorbing fire restores his fire. As he uses his fire magic, he reaches burnout. If he reaches full burnout, he will die, but can be revived again through fire.

Appearance:

Agura has a human torso and face of a tall, lean man. His forearms and legs are birdlike, each with 4 talons on the foot/hand. His upper forearms and back of his shoulders are covered in bright red-orange feathers. His hair is a matching color that is slicked back and spiky. When using Fire magic, his feathers and hair glow a very bright orange. When approaching burnout, they turn white, and slowly turn to charcoal black at full burnout. His eyes are a bright pale blue, almost lavender. He wears the worn leather vest and pants given to him while imprisoned.

Personality:

Being hated most of his life and being in solitary confinement for so long severely damaged Agura’s psyche. He does his best to control his urge to destroy, but often loses himself whenever a conflict breaks out. He has an extremely short temper and a short-to-nonexistent attention span, but while fighting has complete focus on every move he and his opponent make. Believing he is truly immortal, he is arrogant and quick to underestimate foes, which backfires often. He prefers to go alone, as anyone else would just get in his way (and likely caught in his reckless attacks.) Without ever being truly shown proper ethics and morals, he often has trouble distinguishing right from wrong, and often ends up doing what is most fun or otherwise directly beneficial to himself.

Abilities:

WIP

Background:

Created by a human sorcerer seeking immortality by using the powers of a phoenix, Agura was one result of the man's work. The sorcerer tried to help the young monster-boy live a normal life among other Free-Races, but he couldn’t stop noticing the sideways glances, the mothers holding their children a little closer, the fear in their eyes. He couldn’t bear it.

There were rumors of a city of monsters that was not too far away. The locals spoke with such disdain in their voices about it, but to Agura it was an escape from this cruel world. The sorcerer told him the safest route, and supplied him for the short journey there. The sorcerer was sad to see his “son” go, but he knew it was for the best. And so, he continued his research alone.

Agura arrived at Castle Dour’s massive gates with ease. The guards were friendly enough, and he quickly found a room to stay in. There were monsters of all different shapes and sizes living in harmony… It was perfect!

It was then that the Free Races declared war upon the Monsters. Agura was quick to enlist, willing to do everything to protect his new home. He was taught from several specialized trainers how to hone his fire magics, and even helped him bear through his phoenixian regeneration. From there, he was sent into the front lines.

Agura cut through countless ranks, scorching a path of destruction across the battlefield. Soon after, the Free Races pulled back, making a defensive position around the outskirts of the Castle’s territory. King Solomon ordered the Monsters hold their lines as well, but Agura had better ideas. He led a small band of fellow bloodthirsty comrades to raid nearby Free Race villages, sating their boredom more than anything else. Yet as he killed, he saw the same looks in the eyes of the people he had all those years ago, but now they meant nothing. They deserve this. It wasn’t until the Agura found the sorcerer again did he feel a change. The man, once filled with ambition and determination was now a feeble old man clutching onto life. And through all of the screams, all of the cries and bloodshed, the sorcerer’s disappointment broke Agura’s heart the most. The only one he could truly call “family.”

Several other monsters had joined in on the “fun” over time, including a lieutenant, a massive orc with one eye. He ordered Agura to kill the old man. When Agura refused, he killed the man himself. In utter outrage, Agura turned and killed the lieutenant and several of his men, reducing their bodies to ash. By the times the elite guards had found Agura, he had lost his will to fight, mourning the loss of his father, and surrendered peacefully.

News of his treachery had reached the castle’s walls, which had since been sealed shut as the Free Races advanced inwards. Agura was viewed as a murderer by the Monsters, and awaited trial. But, as the Monsters had their attentions focused on the War at hand, they had him locked away in a cooler room in the deepest levels of an extra-planar dungeon known as The Exile. Agura was eventually forgotten by the end of the war, and waited frozen in that room for over 100 years.

News of the Castle's reopening has reached the ears of the The Exile, and some aren't so happy with this decision...

Name: Orbulon
Race: Rainbow Devil [slime].

A magically mutated breed of Slimes, only appears in murky sewers. They're gluttonous slimes that prey on everything in the sewers. Life and trash are both the same to their eyes - Food. The more they eat, the bigger and stronger they become. They'd occupy entire sewer systems and kill other Rainbow Devils there to maintain control. Humans, however, co-existed with them due to their ability to clean up entire sewers and by extension, preventing the sewers
from clogging.

Biology

Rainbow Devils are born through either rare magical mutations or other Rainbow Devils' leftover slime. Upon birth, they would start eating as much as possible. When they are small, they would consume sewage and small animals. When they are big, they would prey on other slimes and creatures. They increase in size whenever they eat, and the accumulative effort results in their giant bodies. The mixture of their body liquids allow them to take a more humanoid shape, albeit rotund, without falling apart easily. Under sunlight, their body casts off a vibrant rainbow gleam, which is how they got their name.

They have a pair of red eyes, but they don't see much use with the weak lighting of the sewers. They instead feel their surroundings with their bodies. They would spit out small pieces of themselves to detect food nearby.

They lack a conventional mouth, because they don't require one. They synthesize their voice through their cells, but they don't use all of their cells together while speaking, just a small part to act as a temporary "mouth".

They're practically ageless due to their simple cellular build allowing infinite regeneration. However, some Rainbow Devils choose to end their lives by compressing their body into a small orb. It glows with rainbow under sunlight, and flashes wondrously. Such product can only be obtained through willing suicides, making them extremely rare and sought after by collectors and the rich.

To reproduce, they simply fill a piece of their bodies with energy and fling it away. They would make sure to leave it in another sewer system to avoid killing their own kin.

Abilities, Strength and Weaknesses

Rainbow Devils in their humanoid form bear brute strength that allows them to fling a piece of their body up to 100 meters away. They can easily split their body into pieces, big and small, allowing quick escapes in dire situations. Their magical origin allows them to use water magic as well. Experienced Rainbow Devils can even manipulate their own bodies into makeshift body parts of other creatures, and simulating their attacks through magic. Their humanoid form allows them to wield heavy weapon as well, but they can only move as fast as a human adult in such form.

They share the same strengths and weaknesses as your common slime, otherwise.

Interactions with Humans and Monsters

Although they lack sexual organs and defining gender traits, they prefer being referred to as "He" due to the form they've chosen.

They contribute to humans a lot in the dark due to their abilities to clean up the sewers with ease, preventing any sort of clog from happening. In return, the humans seal off entrances to the sewers to prevent hunters from killing them. Despite this, they're not at all welcomed in towns, even when taking a humanoid form. Mostly due to their slimy appearance. They also avoid leaving the sewers due to how easy a target they are under sunlight, and a plenty amount of hunters that would scrape a jar of their slime to sell for good bucks.

While they would eat any monster in sight in their own sewers, they refrain themselves from eating monsters elsewhere, unless they're extremely famished. They would only eat monsters in their own turfs.

Side Profession

In their early days, Rainbow Devils only strive for survival and control, but as they grow, they become curious of the world outside. They would read books thrown away by humans, and lurk around the exit of the waterway. Many Rainbow Devils take on Alchemy and Magic as their side profession.

Age: 152
Appearance: Orbulon's a Rainbow Devil that has taken the form of a big and rotund man, about 2 meters tall and 1 meter wide. He has a pair of red eyes, but no mouth. His body consists of turquoise-colored liquid, a mixture of sludge and water.
Personality: Orbulon's a laid-back monster, never keen on arguing with others and would back down immediately from arguments, even if he is in fact correct. He dislikes humans due to his origins, and would eat hunters attacking him alive. But he avoids challenging humans to keep himself focused on his objective.

Background: Orbulon was a Green Slime before he became a Rainbow Devil. A mage's spell exploded upon him, blasting him into pieces. He survived the blast and his remains instinctively burrowed down, and eventually arrived at a waterway of a nearby village. There, he grew by eating waste, and when he became stronger, he ate monsters and unfortunate humans. He read books and maps thrown away by humans, and became curious of the outside world. One location on the map intrigued him the most - Castle Dour. He ventured through the sewers he was familiar with, and leaked out of its exit in the outskirts. He climbed over mountains and swam through streams. At last, the castle's at sight...and its gate is opening.
