Administrators Amethyst Posted February 9, 2016 Administrators Share Posted February 9, 2016 Where did you get the pokemon sprites from? Obviously you made the Gen 6 in-house, but what about Gen 1-5? Also, why are your sprites in 32-bit color mode instead of 8-bit? It cuts the size in half from what I've seen, with no noticeable difference. uh, gens 1-5 are from the main series. the rips are included with Essentials by default. I just tested again to be sure and I don't see a size difference between saving as 32 or 8. That could be a difference in how GG handles saving files though, idk. Excepting massive tilesets, I do try to keep each file to 255 colors or less though for visual consistency, so I could easily switch them if I wanted. I don't want to, because 32 is easier to edit (especially when alphas get involved). Also, recent versions of GG have had an absolutely heartbreaking glitch where certain graphics bug out when saved in 8-bit and get reduced to black and white + visual noise. That was especially frustrating when I was working Mega sprites, saved, and then found it was ruined and had to redo it. Happened multiple times. Nonetheless I'm not really concerned about it because the entire Graphics folder for the game is only 25 MB. The game bulk comes from music, which I have taken to compressing (although most of the room gained from that was eaten up by animation sound effects, so total file size is at 450 MB right now) --- As an after thought, I wonder if the engine would load 8-bit graphics faster though. If the file size doesn't change, then probably not. But hmm... and lol at the old lady. Must be like one of those stereotypical mean old ladies who make a fuss over anything to keep themselves happy. Though wait, the city seriously fined you guys over that? That's incredibly stupid. they did, and it wasn't the only time. the others were for different things but similarly stupid stuff like "fence too high" or something dumb, i can't remember the details. I can understand if it was causing severe pest issues but it just seems incredibly petty and almost insulting considering that money is earned yet the city thinks freakin grass is worth a $1000 of that as fair punishment. So I said Aya & Noel... Aya just because the dynamic she has with both Cain and Hardy is plain brilliant, and leads to some of the funniest bits in game. Noel just feels sorta cool. He's the reasonable 'normal' one of the group (I mean,as normal as the group gets. No pun intended.), but he still has moments where you know he's just a kid. If anything, I'm sure Ame would want to use original ideas, rather than just copying what another inferior game has already done. If it's basically near the end and a whole bunch of Pokemon come out, do you really want to wait another year for what could take a single month to release? It's very, very doubtful at this point as we don't know what to be expecting since some things might have to be programmed in for new gimmick evolutions. It'd likely fall onto modders to update Reborn as it stands right now. I myself probably won't update it as it took basically 6 months to even get used to Gen VI and how it functioned and I'd just have to go through the same song and dance for Gen VII (though if it's only like 4 Pokemon plus more Megas...we'll see about it). Also i watched some of the sprites making, and .... well .. u are heroes... since this is not some rom hack, but RPG maker, wouldnt it be easier to use the sugimori artwork as a base? I'm fairly certain that will be never. The reason why the stairs have that happen is due to coding pushing the character up and over so in that case you don't even have control.
