[CW/ 1-off Reflection] Never Forget Us

Alright, so, the tags say it all. I'm broke and need scholarship money. One scholarship I found today was the "Shout it out loud" which requires applicants to submit a short reflection (no more than 250 words) on what they would shout to all the world to hear if they had the chance.

This is pretty much what I wrote and submitted, though the submission was a bit shortened to reach the max req due to the full thing being 310 words total...

So yeah, went better than I thought it would, for me writing a piece of nonfiction... which really is not my strong suit since I heavily shun that shit in favor of the power and control writing fiction grants you.

regardless though, enough of my shitty intro. Take a read of what I came up with if you like:

If I had but one thing to shout to the world, one thing to scream from the heavens, to be proclaimed from the highest peaks and be heard in the deepest of valleys... It would be to never forget about us. To never forget Hummanity. To never forget where we began. To never forget the things we've done and the sights we've seen; to never forget the obstacles we've faced, the trials we've suffered through, or the bliss our triumphs have brought us.

I would only ask they never forget the gods we worshiped, the demons we feared. Or the cities we built. Or the wars we fought or the monuments we erected. I ask only that they do not forget the knoweldge we attained, the mysteries we pursued, or the feats we accomplished.

To never those we have loved and those we have hated. Those we have lost. To never forget those we have fought, fought for, and who fought for us.

Never forget the cruelty we've shown, or the kindness we've known.

Never forget the monsters we were.

And never forget the angels we tried to be.

Never forget how we crossed your seas, how we flew through your skies and how we molded your mountains. Never forget how we discovered the warmth of the fire. Never forget how we learned to melt metal. Never forget how we held lightning captive and used it to light up the nights. Never forget we walked upon your moon, and how we split attoms like hairs.

Never forget the music we made. Never forget the games we played. Never forget the art we crafted. Never forget the philosophies we drafted.

I would only ask... that the world never forget about us, or the marks we left. Because someday, whether near of far, they wil be all that persists...
