Hello hello, welcome to Pyon makes another RP. Here I'm introducing the concept, and if there is interest I shall make it an actual thing. In the current state of this RP, there is a fairly developed universe but no plot. With interest I shall create and plot and make it into an RP.

Anyways the basic idea is to fill a gap I think is missing here in Reborn. I haven't actually seen a sci-fi RP (although I'm very lazy and don't look at all of the RPs so I might be completely wrong.) As a lover of sci-fi and a giant robots, I want one. I'm an awful host but hey that's never stopped me before so let's go I guess.

The universe is simple. Your characters will be currently working for a mercenary group. You might all be strangers, you might not. Either way, you are sent out together as a squad to investigate new planets in an attempt to discover new minerals and valuable objects. In a mix, your group makes first contact with a new race of aliens. And as you later come to discover, these aliens are the "conquer and destroy" type. A few weeks later, your mercenary group is forced to serve the military in fighting off these strange beings.

Simple right? Cool that's the basic plot. Now let's talk about mechs and combat in general. There will be ground combat and mech combat. Exploration in general will be done on the ground, and you will be armed. In this universe, there are combat suits (basically large exoskeletons like starcraft marines) and more agile smaller versions. Blah blah blah this will all probably be explained better in an OOC.

Mechs is where the "hook" of this RP comes in. Most mechs in other universes are piloted by a single person. Well due to technological limitations and warfare strategies, mechs in this universe are piloted by two.

Mech Piloting in this universe requires a strong bond and trust between both pilots. Mechs have two main parts, each piloted by a different person. The main body is piloted by the main pilot, the GUARDIAN. All mechs have a set of wings on their back. At any time, these wings can detach, and be piloted by the second pilot, the ANGEL. The GUARDIAN/ANGEL system is a strategy that was used in old wars and to save resources. In combat, the GUARDIAN rushes in to face a mech or spaceship head on while the ANGEL goes from the side to find an opening. All ANGELs are armed with basic combat weapons but these are completely inefficient against the heavy armor of mechs. So instead, they can be equipped with "hacking" tools to weaken enemy mechs to make the job easier for their partners. Some are equipped with emergency repair tools, and will fix damaged parts of their GUARDIANs. ANGELs are incredibly flexible machines.

And just like their partners, GUARDIANs are just as flexible. Some are fast, some use melee, some have devastating ranged attacks, some are armored. While military mechs are normally completely average in all regards you are a mercenary. Your mech is personal, it matches your personality and therefore as it's own strengths and weaknesses.

When sign ups come around, there will be two things players will need to do. One they will have to send me a character sheet, which will be completely normal. The other is a "mech" sheet which will have to be done in unison with another player. That's right bitches y'all have to socialize.

Mech sheets will include the statistics of both the GUARDIAN, and the ANGEL and other details such as looks, specialities etc. Characters who own a mech together have known each other previously so that will be referenced in your character sheets as well.

So I'd like to ask you people now. What are your general thoughts? Do you love this idea, hate it, like it, dislike it? Less go.

Alright since there is a fair amount of interest, before I set up an OOC I'll reveal the races for the universe.

While you are working for an independent faction, a group of mercenaries, there is a much larger faction working behind the scenes. This is the Sol Union, usually referred to a simple the Union. This is a diplomatic, technological and economical alliance between the three main organic races of the universe, the Terrans, Michi and Yousei. The fourth playable race, while respected by most individuals is not officially part of the union. While the Nienians are now officially considered a sentient race, they do not have any organized form of government so they cannot officially join the Sol Union. After a long time of being together, these races have discovered that the English language from the planet earth is the easiest language for all of the races to learn and speak. It is the official language of the union. The headquarters

Terrans: Your typical average of the mil humans. Although the word human is now an expansive term to catch all "humanoid" species. Terran is the term used to refer to homo sapiens of earth. Terran history is marked full of war and destruction, and they came close very close to self extinction. The savior came, in irony, through war. In World War 3, the empire of North America conquered the rest of the planet. They did this with the scientific discovery of an infinitely renewable source of energy. These became dubbed the Helios Reactor. By having infinite energy, the North American faction quickly took control over the world. With earth united under one flag, and with their main reason for war, a lack of resources, mostly resolved they set out into the cosmos. Terrans are vastly different from each other, with varying cultures and appearances. However, Terran colonists from outside earth are typically ""American"" with strong Texan accents and culture typical to the old country of the United States of America.

Inventors of the Helios Reactor

Michi: The Michi are a humanoid race, who evolved from felines instead of apes. The Michi in appearance, are normally taller than humans and do not have ears on the side of their heads. Instead, they have feline ears and cat-like eyes. Above their bum, they have two furred tails that help them keep balance. Their range of skin tones are a lot like a human's but their eye and hair colors capture all of the visible spectrum of color. Personality wise they have a tendency to be friendly and outgoing, as well as curious and a little naive.

The Michi homeplanet is a huge tropical forrest, with underground oceans that keep the plants hydrated. Creatures on this planet have two choices to survive: burrow underground to reach water, or climb to the top of the immense trees to catch the rain that falls on the canopy. The Michi's ancestors chose the latter. Naturally the Michi are agile, quick, and balanced climbers. They built their cities on the top of trees and have always had a huge connection to the sky. Always so close to the cosmos, the Michi never thought much of war between themselves. They instead chose to build towards space. They are much younger than Terrans and Yousei, having reached space age much quicker than either of them but around the same time. Their greatest achievement was the warp drive, which they hoped would allow them to reach the closest planet that was most likely to hold life. While their space ships were highly advanced, their resource systems were not. The crew that manned this expedition knew that it would be a one way trip, then they would not have enough fuel to make it back home. Thankfully, this Michi crew traveled to Terra, 40 light years away. The warp drive allowed them to reach it within minutes. Making first contact with the Terrans, it was the first time in the history of both races that they encountered intelligent life outside of earth. They formed a very strong alliance that lasts strong to this day. Terran and Michi bonds are known to be incredibly strong, with marriage between the races being incredibly common. Half-Michi children are also possible, inheriting their Michi parent's cat eyes but remaining completely human otherwise.

Yousei: The Yousei race is an interesting one. They are by far the oldest race in the union. Much like pangea on Terra, the home planet of the Yousei had originally one huge continent that was split into two. The race developed from a type of "deer" herbivore, becoming bipedal and sentient. The Northern continent was exposed to less sunlight and had less predators. The Yousei of the north usually have lighter tones of skin, and short horns sticking out of the top of their heads. They have a very high tendency to albinism with red eyes and white hair being the "ideal beauty" to the northern Yousei. They tend to be shorter and scrawnier than their counterparts. The nothern Yousei have dubbed themselves the "Snow Yousei". The Yousei that live in the Southern continent have a much harder time at life. Their continent is exposed to the sun for a lot longer than the Northern have of the planet, and so their skin tends to be darker and in a lot of cases red. In the southern continent, a lot of dangerous predators exist so the southern Yousei developed large horns to defend themselves. Male's horns tend to look a lot like antlers, with outstretching branches. Females tend to have spear-like horns. They normally have black hair but usually light eye colors, with blue being the most common color. These Yousei have dubbed themselves the "Flame Yousei". Even with all these differences, both races of Yousei have pointed ears like the fantasy elves of Terran culture. All of them are herbivores, their diet consisting of leaves or a delicious fruit called "Issucan". Issucans are hard shelled fruit with incredibly nutritious juice inside. For this purpose, Yousei have large canine teeth which they use to bite into these fruit. They are able to drink through these fangs, directly into their digestive system. Both of these traits have lead Terrans to call the species "vampires" or "elves". Personality wise, they tend to be stuck up and full of themselves. Yousei truly believe themselves the greatest in the universe. It's completely unheard of for Snow Yousei and Flame Yousei to mate, so all blood lines tend to be pure. It's also unheard of for Yousei to mate with humans or Michi, any hybrids being shunned by Yousei society.

Each race of Yousei developed separated from the other, ignorant to the fact that there were other intelligent beings on their planet. Come the industrial age, a war started between the two races. This war lasted a full millennia until a truce was finally called. By putting together all of their resources they very quickly advanced into the space age. As part of their treaty, they forced Snow and Flame Yousei to work together as partners in every line of work. Every plane was piloted by a Snow and Flame Yousei, every tank, every form of transport, every line of job. Always worked by two. Eventually they made contact with Terrans in a small colony in a not too far off solar system. The Yousei attacked full force. Declaring war, the Terran and Michi banded together to fight against the Yousei in retaliation to the destruction of the colony. At first the Yousei seemed to have the technological upper hand, using combat units piloted by two people seemed effective against all of the Terran Union's weapons. However, Terran and Michi scientists banded together to create the current GUARDIAN/ANGEL system by combining Yousei ideology. By placing Terran mechs in combination with Michi space combat airplanes, they created a machine that could fight back against the Yousei. This was the turning point in the war, and soon after the Yousei surrendered. A treaty was signed in a space station built in the orbit of the Terran star, Sol. It was named the Sol Treaty, which bound the three races Terran, Michi and Yousei together. It's been 300 years since the end of the war, but tensions are still high. Yousei have adapted well enough into the Union. They have taken a huge liking to Neo Christianity, with over 90% of the current Yousei population being active believers. They have gone so far as to believe themselves to be the angels spoken in old scriptures, and renaming their home planet to "Heaven".

Nienians: The last race, and the hardest to describe. Nieanians refers to any robotic being coming from the planet Nienia. It was discovered 182 years before the start of this RP. Explorers found Ninenia to be a world filled with debris and remnants of an ancient civilization. They thought the planet empty and made a home for themselves. They very quickly discovered that the planet was still the home of this ancient civilization's servants. Nienians come in all shapes and sizes, each one able to take on any appearance as they are made out of metal. Since making contact with humanoids, Nienians reconstruct themselves to look human. The Nienians are in essence a very powerful AI that is capable of emotion and thought. Very recently the Nienians have been recognized an official species, the first mechanical species ever. Nienians mostly wish to help the humanoids. They consider themselves a species, but do not wish to create a society or government. They have a natural tendency to help. Nienians also cannot reproduce; there is a fixed number of Nienians. They can fix themselves but once one is shut down or loses it's body, it is gone forever. Many Nienians fearing death chose to be AI for ships. The most powerful warships are operated by a Nienian AI. They trade their mobility and freedom, for immortality. However, a lot of Nienians do not find this to be proper life, and continue to inhabit their humanoid bodies living their lives as regular humans. Or, however close to that they can achieve.

So that's a huge load of text I have there. I'll probably clean all of that up for the actual OOC but there you go. A huge load of text about the playable races.

Hmm... Would it be possible to play as the AI for a ship when playing as a Nienian?

Nope. While I described Nienians as a "catch all term" for a lot of different shapes and sizes of robots, playable Nienians are strictly humanoid shaped and all PCs will be pilots. So the mercenary ship will have it's own AI.
