"Mysterious Explosion! Pokemon Center Panic!" - Acumula Town Pokecenter - Jack

Jack frowned when he saw the black-clad men, then released Leonidas, and gave the lion cub an order.

"Lara, point-defense by using Bite on whichever enemies get too close to the Audino. Leonidas, Leer at them, and then Tackle or Spark whatever gets past the others."

Leonidas then sped out in front of the Audino, facing the attackers, and glared, sparks popping up around him as he did so. Lara went next to Leonidas, ready to try to fend off any enemies that got past Gomez or Rascal.

Accumula Pokecenter - Mysterious Explosion! Pokemon Center Panic! – Brendan

Brendan didn’t hesitate when he saw the men in black. He immediately released Titan and chose his opponent carefully. Since Jack was covering for the Audino, the amateur decided to back up Jason instead. Both Pokémon seemed to be in trouble, but while Rascal was only fighting one enemy, Gomez had to deal with two.

“Titan, use Rock Blast on the Porygon. Be careful not to hit Gomez!”

The Roggenrola listened carefully to the ongoing battle and as soon as his ally knocked the Porygon away, the normal type was targeted by a barrage of flying rocks.

Accumula Pokecenter - Mysterious Explosion! Pokemon Center Panic! - Mio

Mio darted into the scene and skidded to a halt next to Jason, taking quick stock of the situation.

"Meena, help out Rascal! Scratch that Voltorb!" He called. Meena immediately leaped from his shoulder and sped after the electric-type, claws extended. Meanwhile. Mio released Loam from her pokeball, the mudkip emerging, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, in a shower of bubbles.

"Loam, stay with Titan and use Water Gun on that Whismur." Loam barked an affirmative and headed to the rock-type before charging up her attack and letting loose, sending two shots barreling towards the small normal type.

"Brendan, sorry to bother you, but Loam's gonna need some help if any of those electric types come after her..."

Accumula Pokecenter - Mysterious Explosion! Pokemon Center Panic! - Alecks and Alice

Alecks watched the battle begin carefully, he hadn't been expecting a battle so soon but Apollo seemed excited by all the action. The fire type jumped down from his trainer's shoulder onto the floor and looked at the opponents' pokemon with an intense glare, a small smirk appearing on his face as he eyed the competition. The fire on his backside burning brighter and more fiercely as he prepared for battle.

The twin looked over at his sister, a small smile appearing on his face that matched his pokemon's. "Alice, feel like putting these guys in their place?"

His sister shook her head and sighed, though a small smile appeared on her face as well. "Good to see your as cocky as ever. Well I can't let you fight this battle alone, someone needs to be here for you when you inevitably choke. Come on Raven, let's show them what we got." Alice said as she set the psychic type down on the floor.

Raven looked up at her trainer with doubt, still slightly shaken up over the loud explosion from earlier. Fortunately, Apollo looked back at his new partner and gave a nod of encouragement to the psychic type. When he still saw the worry in her large eyes, he walked back towards her and grabbed her short, stubby hand in his and led her forwards to stand right beside him. Knowing now she could count on Apollo to watch her back, Raven steeled herself and she now looked at their opponents with the same confidence that Apollo was.

"Alice, let's attack some of the pokemon the other thieves sent on the field. We need to keep some of them busy so they don't overwhelm our friends' pokemon." His twin nodded at Alecks' plan and the siblings wasted no more time in getting into the fray. "Apollo, use Flame Wheel on the Magnemite!"

Alice soon followed up with her own command. "Raven, use Confusion on the second Klink so it can't help the Magnemite." The twins' pokemon followed their trainers orders quickly. Apollo released Raven's hand before rushing forward in a wheel of burning flames toward the Magnemite, trying to use his speed and momentum to aim the wheel upward so he can hit the floating piece of metal. Meanwhile, Raven thrust her hands forward as her body began to be outlined in a bright red, her eyes also beginning to glow a matching red. Soon enough, the Klink's body would be outlined in the same red and Raven will be able to forcefully push the electric type into another of the thieves' pokemon with her psychic attack.

Accumula Town- Pokemon Center- Brendan

The little Rock-type’s aim was true and the Rock Blast attack struck Porygon hard three times in a row, sending it crashing into the wall. After taking so many attacks so rapidly all Porygon could do was slide down the wall and slump over, its pixelated form beginning to glitch as it laid still on the ground.

“Gah! Useless!” shouted the snaggletoothed Grunt, reaching for one of the odd Poke Balls. He returned the Porygon, causing it to disappear into the Ball in a flash of light.

“Klink, use Vice Grip on that brat’s lizard!” the Grunt commanded. The Klink shook itself from its reverie after crashing into the wall because it missed Gomez, then flew at the lizard with vicious intent.

Accumula Town- Pokemon Center- Mio

Meena darted quickly after the Voltorb, her superior Speed allowing her to take aim with a solid Scratch attack. However, the electrical aura generated by the Voltorb’s Spark attack took its toll and damaged the raggedy Meowth.

Loam’s Water Gun went directly for the Whismur. The second Grunt clearly was no slouch, though. She chuckled and waved her hand in front of her, a lock of orange hair sticking out of her balaclava in front of a pair of gleeful brown eyes. “Whismur, vaporize that pathetic spitball! Use Shock Wave!”

The Whismur closed its eye-holes and grimaced before opening its mouth, screaming a small, horizontal line of electricity. The attack homed in on the Water Gun and collided with it, causing the Water-type attack to be vaporized into a cloud of steam. The Grunt laughed again, mocking Mio. “We’ll see how cute that little mudfish is when it’s char-grilled! Whismur, use Howl!” The little pink blob beat its chest, letting out a surprisingly loud roar of challenge in the Mudkip’s direction.

Accumula Town- Pokemon Center- Jason

The Trainer smiled as his friends arrived on the scene in time to help him out. First, Brendan and Titan were able to take pressure off of Gomez by taking out Porygon. Then, Rascal got saved by Meena. Now it was time to return the favor.

“Rascal, take advantage of the situation! Double Slap on that Voltorb one more time!” Jason ordered. Rascal bounded toward the Voltorb from behind. With the first hit, he hit the stunned Voltorb back a foot, then dashed after it, following it up with a second slap with its tail. With the third he flipped the disoriented Electric-type up in the air. He then jumped in the air and did a somersault, slapping the Voltorb down to the ground with his fourth slap. As Rascal fell he adjusted himself once more, bringing the last slap across and launching the Voltorb back across the room at the Grunt.

The Voltorb fainted as it skidded along the ground, rolling to a halt at the Grunt’s feet. He looked angrily up at Jason as he returned his second Pokemon, fuming.

Despite Rascal’s success, Gomez did not fare so well. He was caught before landing by the Klink as it flew toward him separately, then crushed his body between the two small gears. They released him, allowing the Grass-type the fall to the ground. He got up groggily, looking to Jason for orders.

The snaggletoothed Grunt was all over the situation and tried to claim the upper hand, smirking. “Finish that runt! Use Vice Grip again!”

Jason was ready, though. “Gomez, Absorb! Stop that thing in its tracks!” In reply, Gomez shot creepers upward toward the Klink, catching the gears in their straight-line attack and holding them in place. Hopefully, someone would be able to help him soon.

Accumula Town- Pokemon Center- Audino

The Audino grimaced, its wounds from fighting off the Grunt on its own clearly beginning to take their toll. But what kind of Nurse would she be if she stood idly by and allowed these Amateur Trainers to defend the Pokemon Center without her help? No, she wouldn’t allow that. Not in her place of work. Not in her home. The Audino began glowing with a rainbow aura, beginning a cheerleader dance not unlike Rascal’s and enveloping Apollo in rainbow-hued flames as he whirled toward Magnemite.

Accumula Town- Pokemon Center- Alecks & Alice

The Magnemite and its Trainer tried to defend themselves with a Thunder Shock. However, it was too late. The Helping Hand boosted Flame Wheel cleanly knocked out the Magnemite.

The Klink was knocked back a few feet by the Confusion attack. Its Trainer, the third and unremarkable Grunt, grunted. He then grunted something unintelligible through his mask. Apparently, he was understood, as his Klink and Voltorb sped toward the Audino and Jack’s Pokemon.

Accumula Town- Jack

The Grunt’s Voltorb used Spark, rolling toward Leonidas and colliding with his Spark attack, creating a blinding flash of light and a small dust cloud. When it cleared, both Pokemon were still fit to fight.

His Klink, however, used Gear Grind. As Lara bit down on the first gear, the second came in behind it, catching Lara between them. After colliding once the gears separated and did so again, dropping Lara to the floor after the attack.

Accumula Pokecenter - Interior - Mio

Meena winced as she took damage from her target's electric aura, but she'd succeeded in helping out Rascal. She spared a second to give her fellow normal-type a nod of acknowledgement before looking to her trainer for orders.

Mio was taken aback by the hostility of both his opponent and her Pokemon. He also hadn't expected the Whismur to use Shock Wave; Loam obviously wasn't going to be able to handle this on her own. But both Lara and Gomez needed help too...

Electing to ignore the enemy trainer's threat, Mio called out to his pokemon. "Meena, Fake Out on the Klink attacking Lara! Loam... Water Gun on the one Gomez is holding!"

Meena rushed to Lara's side, although she barely disguised her distaste for the dog. With an eye roll that clearly said she just couldn't believe the dark type had been caught, she clapped her paws together in front of the eye on one of the Klink's gears.

Loam pivoted to face Gomez and fired off two shots of water at the Klink the grass type had entangled in creepers. Meanwhile, Mio kept one eye on the Whismur, ready for the fat little normal-type to try something. He couldn't help but wish that his Mudkip was slightly more mud than fish; then that shock wave wouldn't be dangerous at all.

Acumula Town Pokecenter - Jack

Jack cringed when the Gear Grind hit Lara. Thankfully, she managed to get up. However, Jack quickly gave Lara a command, and noticed meena coming in quickly.

"Lara, use Bite to lob that Klink at Loam's Attacker while it's stunned by Meena!"

The Poochyena nodded, and then waited for Meena to hit the gearpair and stun it so that she could safely bite and then throw it at the Voltorb that had attacked Loam. She'd ignore the the Normal Type's disgust for the moment because it wasn't her business what other Pokemon thought of her, just that she could fight to the best of her ability.

Jack then gave an order to Leonidas.

"Leonidas, Tackle that Voltorb!"

The Electric Type was a bit confused at his orders, but followed them anyways, merely speeding towards the Voltorb, aiming to make a head-on collision.

Accumula Pokecenter - Mysterious Explosion! Pokemon Center Panic! – Brendan

The battle went surprisingly well when the first opponents went down. Or maybe it only felt that way because Boss Hog managed to slap all of them around on his own. Brendan sighted in relief and the tension in his shoulders slightly died down.

“Good job Titan,” he complemented his Roggenrola while studying the battlefield. Most opponents were already engaged with his allies which meant he couldn’t use rock blast without serious risks. And then there were Loam and Mio who were trusting Titan enough to keep any electric types away. But for now those weren’t the main threats. Magnemite and the first Voltorb were already down and the second one was too close to Leonidas. Titan would never make it in time with his speed.

“Alecks, can you help out Jack? I’ll keep that Whismur occupied.” Brendan quickly glanced at his traveling partner and for the first time really saw the girl next to him. He had no idea what her name was but the two seemed to make a good combo. If they could help Jack and protect the Audino, they could create a number advantage. All Brendan and Titan had to do was stall the attack-boosting Whismur.

“Titan, use rock blast again on the Whismur.” The tension in Brendan’s shoulders immediately skyrocketed when he studied the Whismur’s trainer. She had handled Loam with ease before so there was no telling what she could do against Titan. Hopefully this wasn’t a second Watchog battle all over again.

Acumula Pokemon Center- "The fury of a thousand splendid suns"

In the incessant din of combat, no one noticed as the stench of burning ozone or crackle of heavy static began to resonate throughout the air... not until the thunder- cloaked body of the giant, roaring electivire came charging through the gaping whole in the side wall like a line backer, it's sight instantly turning on the young trainers as it skidded to a stop. With a grunt and snap of it's tails, all hell broke loose as the miniature storm around it's body imploded outwards, golden streams of electricity filling the air with their hiss and pop as they snaked across the room faster than any of them could blink or react and hit square on with each and every last one of their partners on the feild, sending Gomez, Rascal, Apollo, Raven, Lara, Leonidas, Loam, Meena and even the mighty champion headbutter Titan himself slamming hard into the back wall behind them with the force of the fearsome blast. All of them sat there motionless, KOed cold as they slid down the surgical white facade.

The grunts stood gawking at the ape's sudden arrival... if he was here, that could only mean that boss wasn't far behind... ahhh shiiiiiit.

"Excellent, Caesar," A deeply authoritative, electronized voice called from the same hole the ape had charged through as slick, black boots rang out on broken concrete. Unlike his grunts, the man who strode inside now wore a full length long coat darker than night, obscuring most of his other attire aside from the ornately decorated, gold accented, black helm he wore that looked like it's design had been lifted straight out of a high end Sci-fi film, his blood red visor burning with the light of a thousand suns as his invisible yet somehow still menacing gaze pierced through each and every last human being standing in that room. For now though, his gaze settled on the grunts.

"At least one monkey out of you bunch of incompetent, shit flinging baboons can do their fucking job properly! You imbeciles had one job, one simple, straight forward job! and what do I find, you're in here struggling to hold off a bunch of god damn brats who look like their barely fresh out of high school!? Pathetic, for the love of Arceus, and here I was thinking that the Phantoms would be too much for this job, that I'd be wasting their talents on such a mundane task. But no... apparently not, because you all can't even fucking rob a defenseless pokemon center and subdue the couple of snot-nosed runts who try to stop you without me intervening!!" With most of his tirade over, a morphed, heavy sigh came from his voice respirator as he shook his head in frustration "God damn it all...why am I stuck with such mediocrity as you lot?"

No one answered, no one dared answer, because they didn't even have the time to formulate a response before his attention was on the Snot Nosed runts at the opposite end of the room. "And you!" He roared "you think this funny, don't you? That this is a little game your playing, interfering in affairs you have no inking of. Well... luckily for you, as annoying as you are, you're still just mere children, so I'll give a chance to repent for your ignorant sin this day. From this day until your last day, stay out of the way of me and my men and our allies, or so help me Arceus, Bird jesus and all his fucking apostles, the next time we meet I will crush you all into the barren and scorched earth with the fury of a thousand splendid suns. Death... will be a complete afterthought by the time we are done with you. This is your first and last warning. Do not cross us again, children. We are the harbingers of the Luminous Dawn. We do not forgive, we do not forget."

With a sharp turn and a whirl of his long coat, he walked back towards the hole he came from, hailing his grunts with a standard military gesture in the same motion. "Move out, you morons! We're done here, the quota has been met this day! Your asses and those capsules had best be in that van before I get there, or you'll feel the same fury I just prescribed to them!"

No one dared question. No one dared linger or argue, all of them hauled ass out of that room as fast as they could, practically tripping over their own sacks of stolen goods as they scrambled through the hole. True to his threat, they already had the ignition started and the balls in transit into the back by the time he was at the makeshift opening, giving one last, piercing pass of the visor at the trainers. "We do not forgive. We do not forget. Neither should you. Do not forget this day; We among the Initiative are foes you do not want nor are prepared to have hounding your backs. Ever you see our faces again, simply turn and walk the other direction. You'll enjoy far happier and fuller lives that way."

And with that, he and his electric ape were gone. The van doors slammed from outside, the motor revved once, and the sound of screeching rubber filled the air as they peeled off into the city, gone like phantoms.

Accumula Pokecenter - Interior - Mio

Mio rushed to return Meena and Loam to their Pokeballs as the strange newcomer ranted and raved. He shook, partly from anger, partly from fear as he clutched his encapsulated partners to his chest and watched the helmeted bastard yell.

As the black-clad group sped off, leaving behind nothing but the scent of burning rubber and a scene of destruction, Mio finally found the presence of mind to stand.

"Luminous Dawn? Initiative? That sounds... ominous." He muttered, scrubbing away his tears. He shook his head like a dog shaking off water and looked around at his group.

"Um... is everyone okay? What about the Audino?"

Accumula Town- Pokemon Center

The Trainer got up slowly, shaking the tweeting little Pidgeys out of his head before looking around. The Electivire's attack had left dark scoring all over the walls and destroyed any and all electronic equipment in the room, leaving the couple of unplugged Healing Machines and Rejuvenation Chambers that had been in storage smoldering and smoking. All of the Amateur group's Pokemon save for Mio's as well as the Nurse's Audino were sprawled on the floor, having been knocked out by the powerful AoE attack launched by the Electric ape. He thought back to everything that he'd heard the man say as he'd lay prone on the floor, hoping that the mysterious man who'd vastly outclassed any of them would just leave. Jason didn't know what to feel. He was nervous, for sure. He hadn't stopped shaking since the man left. More than anything else, though, he was afraid. Afraid of losing like that again and afraid of dying. He reached out to the wall, supporting himself as he looked up at Mio's question.

"I think I'm alright. Can't speak for anyone else, though," he said, pushing off the wall and making his way slowly toward Rascal and Gomez. The room spun as he walked and he put his hand to his head, closing his eyes briefly. Take it easy, Jason,he told himself. He knelt near his Pokemon, shaking his head. "I'm sorry I let this happen, guys," he said softly, his eyes glistening. "I'm sorry that I wasn't strong enough to protect you. But I promise I'll get stronger. And I promise I'll help you get stronger too." Jason looked up at Mio, pain written across his face.

"He was so strong, Mio. You saw him." Jason looked at his Pokemon, lost in thought for a moment. "We have to be stronger. We have to train harder," he said in a low voice. Despite his decreased volume, his tone became more resolute. He then looked up at Mio. "I promise I'm going to train as hard as I can. We're not going to lose again! Not to someone like him!" Jason vowed solemnly. He then reached to his belt and returned Rascal and Gomez in a flash of light.

Suddenly, the dramatic moment was interrupted by the blaring of sirens. Police officers flooded in through the main entrance and the hole in the wall, quickly cordoning off the area with yellow tape that said: "POLICE LINE: DO NOT CROSS." A group of six people entered shortly after, two people in front seeming to be engaged in a shouting match. The group consisted of three men wearing blue windbreakers with yellow printing on the front that said "FIB." One of them, who was sporting a thick red mustache, a balded head, was in front conversing with the fourth member of the group. This was a woman in the regular blue of the local police, two Captain's bars adorning her collar as she spoke excitably to the FIB Agent. This woman was middle-aged with salt-and pepper hair tied in a tight ponytail behind her head.

The last two seemed quieter than the others. One was a smaller man sporting glasses and wearing a blue windbreaker that said "FORENSICS" on the back. The other looked and carried himself vastly differently from the others. He was over six feet tall and well built. He had a strong chin and short, salt-and-pepper hair that was cut close to his head. He wore a long brown trenchcoat open over what appeared to be a regular white collared shirt and black tie. He wore black suspenders connected to black pants. Upon closer inspection, his black shoes were actually some kind of Running Shoes. As the others stopped walking and continued shouting at one another, probably over which of the two forces had proven more incompetent today, he continued into the room.

As he looked at the scoring on the walls, he reached into his pocket and procured a cigar. He bit off the end and spit it on the floor, sticking the big brown roll of tobacco into his mouth. The man casually reached back into his pocket and grabbed a lighter, flipping it open and holding it to the end. He puffed on the cigar, several clouds of smoke coming off of it and out of his mouth as the end flared. Satisfied that it was lit, he stowed the lighter and breathed out. The smell of the sweetly bitter plant quickly pervaded through the room.

Jason made a face, then looked away from the trenchcoat-clad men. The next group into the room were EMTs who ran directly to the teenagers, helping up those who had not already stood. They quickly ushered the group of Trainers back into the main area of the Pokemon Center after allowing them to return their Pokemon. They were led to a seating area near the front door that the police had repurposed into an area for witnesses and those involved to recover from the shock and hopefully provide them whatever information they could. A regular policewoman sat with them, doing her best to keep up a smile.

She was in her mid-twenties with deep green hair and a friendly face. "Don't worry, everyone. The FIB are here. They're going to take over this case and make sure it gets solved." She then looked sadly at the ground, a lot on her mind. "A lot of Pokemon got stolen today. Hopefully we can find them and return them to their Trainers. Would you all mind answering a few questions for me?" she asked. The group, of course, agreed, and were quickly debriefed by the policewoman and the Captain, who came out to help. They finished in about a half hour. However, they were asked to stay. Officer Jenny, as they'd found out her name was (it was her last name, actually- the Jennys were famous worldwide for their broad-reaching influence and participation in law enforcement agencies), told her that there was someone who needed to speak to them about the incident, but not about the stolen Pokemon.

About ten minutes later, the same brown-coated man that Jason had seen earlier strode quickly out from the back of the Pokemon Center, across the main reception area, and out the door. As he exited he held the door for a young woman. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at her, the recognition clear. "Good to see you, Marcella," he said in a deep, commanding voice.

"Same to you, Looker" the woman responded with a simple nod as she passed, barely even glancing at the man before her eyes settled on the scene before her, dark twin pools of storm blue scanning the remains of the battle like they'd done it a thousand times over before. Even from here, barely through the door of the reception center, she could catch a few scattered glimpses of the scored walls and wrecked equipment as officers and agents alike flittered back and forth out of the back room. "Yup... definitely looks like his handiwork..." she sighed.

The Marowak at her side though had eyes only for the young trainers, the dark, otherworldly cloth he wore wrapped about his shoulders and trailing down his body to his feet not unlike the cloth wrapped around his partners own neck, complimenting her silver-accented black coat and trousers and contrasted only by her snow white shirt and the faded Imperial Red of her short cut hair. The ground type's gaze seemed to resonate equal parts aloof swagger and honed strength as the two drew closer, something deeply foreboding in those scarlet eyes.

"So, you all are the ones I was told about on the way over here...hmm, I see." She began. It was hard to tell in those abysmal pits but from the sound of her voice she was disappointed with what she saw. "well, my name is Marcella, and I have a few questions for you about what happened here. That man who was leading this robbery, was he wearing a visored helm, a black long coat? Maybe in the company of a trigger-happy Electivire?" the Marowak snarled at the mere mention of the electric type, instinctively reaching for something beneath his makeshift cloak. She disregarded it and kept on however.

"Anything you can tell us about the crime would certainly be appreciated... I have reason to believe that psychopath might be none other than my brother."
