Damage

Recommended Posts

Doing a hardcore run of reborn and I chose ground type. I'm currently at Corey who should be a cakewalk but spoiler alert everyone has ice moves because why not. Here's the team.

Marshtomp: Bashful/Damp-Tackle/Rock slide/Water gun/Mud bomb

Krokorok: Docile/Intimidate- Sand tomb/Torment/Crunch/Dig

Nidorino: Bold/Poison point- Focus energy/Double kick/Poison Sting/Horn attack

Trapinch: Mild/Hyper cutter- Crunch/Rock Slide/Dig/Bulldoze

Gabite: Adamant/Rough skin- Dual chop/Sand tomb/ Slash/ Sandstorm

Camerupt: Sassy/Angerpoint- Rock slide/Magnitude/ Lava plume/ Iron head

Gabite can't take any ice moves since they're 4x the rest minus Marshtomp can barely take one with their awful special defenses. Trapinch can usually do a lot of damage but can't take a hit at all. Same for Camerupt who goes down with one water move. This is all magnified by the fact that I have nothing to counter quilfish. I have a phanpy in the computer but I think that song and dance is gonna be the same. Suggestions?

well you can evolve phanpy to donphan. don phan has sturdy which might be useful since you can be 1 hit koed and you can use frail to hit/kill at least 1 person if they hit you to 1 hp.

you can add the all powerful diggersby with huge power to help with sweeping stuff. with facade since it is boosted+stab when you get poisoned by corey's poison mist field. you will have to farm up arcade tokens for facade but it is worth it.

Change the ability of camerupt to solid rock so it takes reduced damage from super effective moves. so it can survive and deal damage.

no idea where is diggersbytho well i think he is at the caves where one of the police office is trapped...umm rhodosomething cave i think and you can find bunnelby at beryl cemetery too. 5% chance of finding only in morning and day for beryl cemetery. For the rhodosomething cave anytime.

Okay my suggestion since Corey is honestly one of the toughest in Hardcore

  • Go over the level cap and evolve Marshtomp to Swampert. It's only one level and it is a massive boost. Then just common candy back down. Use this to take down Qwilfish since it has nothing SE against Swampert and as a Swampert you should be able to OHKO it or bring it to the point where Corey wastes his potions on it
  • Evolve Trapinch to Vibrava. Sacrifice the attack for extra boost in speed which will help it actually kill something before it gets killed.
  • Camerupt is actually pretty good against Corey once Qwilfish is out the way. Amnesia or curse help it immensely. And I prefer anger point. I remember Corey crits a lot which just helps Camerupt sweep with rock slide and magnitude - if you get lucky
  • Of course as mentioned there is Diggersby
  • And then if you got your mystery egg and it asn't ground you could ask someone to mod it to an Excadrill (steel/ ground rekt Corey)

TL:DR Honestly just get Swampert.Qwilfish is the wild card of his team and if you can take that out without nay losses you should be good to go

I think Imma bring Swampert into the mix. I want Drilbur but the police event isn't until after this and with so many mons pulled in I'd like to wait until after so there's some challenge. Also I can't evolve trapinch until 40 since I need him to learn superpower. Same reason Nidorino hasn't evolved.
