Tfw I like the characters in Birthright more, but I want to try the challenge of Conquest...

...Not that I can buy either version right now anyway. I can't afford to spend money on it right now, so I'll have some saving to do before I need to choose. (RIP my funds. To the grave with college tuition)

I just want to give a slight update that quite a lot of people who Pre-ordered the game and have it shipped to their house probably aren't going to get their game until the 24th (well that's what mine says, but it'll probably arrive the 21st and that's from Best Buy). It'd probably just be better to hold off of spoilers for a few days unless you want people to give you dirty looks. Anyways, it looks like the DLC is available in a single map pack which is 17.99 and according to sources, it saves you about 7 dollars buying them all at once.

MAP 10 ON LUNATIC IN BIRTHRIGHT IS EVIL.

NINJAS ARE EVIL.

game is fantastic I have both, but haven't opened conquest yet so I'm doing a lunatic mode run in birthright. Very impressed I'm digging the story. People were shitting on this game for how easy it was supposed to be, but no it's actually pretty difficult honestly or at least on lunatic it is. I spent at least 7 hours on chapter 10 alone tbh. The story is great the characters are great If anything I don't like how fast the Nohr characters shift on you once you made your choice, but I will say fighting against your family after creating those connections pulls at the heart strings pretty well adding to the story. Characters so far are dope and there hasn't been one support that hasn't been adorable. They've taken to using supports to really delve into backstory, of any kind like they don't even hint that saizo's father was killed unless you work through some of the supports. Of course all the characters even the more serious ones have their own little quirks and I'm really enjoying it so far.

So... any of you got the Special Edition bundle?

Me. Luck abuse w/ Basara is going to be fun~

Anyways, going at a nice pace through Birthright (Lunatic / Classic). Its a nice challenge. Its nice to see Archers be valuable again. Favorite Classes: Sword Master, Lance Master, Master Ninja, Onmyoji, Basara, Sniper, and Berserker. This game does feature some awesome (in turn broken) skills though. All in all, the enemies are much more "aware" than they were in Awakening. Enemy Phase is now more of a "Check Your Answer" instead of Vantage + Vengence + Celica's Gale / Aversa's Night spam. Haven't been grinding at all and I'll admit, this game ha made me think quite a bit. I haven't had to reset a crap ton but I know Conquest is where the journey will begin. FYI, Awakening wasn't my first Fire Emblem in case you were wondering. The debuff system is fun to use as well. Lastly, Chapter 10 was indeed a struggle lmao.

Ryoma's and Takumi's personal weapons are still OP as hell.

Online is already broken. Warp will make it even more so.

I <3 lobster

chapter 12+ spoilers birthright

so the game is still amazing on chapter 15 or 16 I can't remember and just recruited the lobster. My favorite supports right now are saizo cause they all are essentially him not taking anyone's shit and it's beautiful. I'm kinda getting over the lunatic curve for now and the scene in chapter 13 with camila gave me some feels. I think my favorite Nohr royalty is Leo and Camila's close behind. Anyone have a favorite scene or support yet?

Saizo x Beruka

...

SERIOUSLY? IT WAS A DECENT SUPORT IN THE JAPANESE VERSION! IT IS NOW ONLY "..." FOR THEIR C-RANK.

Anyways, I still have to do more supports. Elise and Azura have a cute support from what I briefly saw online.

Okay, I'm partway into the Nohr story. My question for those of you far enough ahead is Where do I get money? I had my original starting sum and only two money drops from 2 chapters. And I'm at least 11 or 12 chapters in.

Ain't no time or place to raise the Donnel character either.

You really don't get that much. Just try your best to do anything extra you can do in the Chapters. Xander's son has a Paralouge that will net you a lot of cash, Also, Sniper Mozu is in my Top 5 Units for Conquest.

  • 2 weeks later...

Luckily, one of the recently released DLC is a money map. I got 50k from doing it and it was great for building up support convos.

Garon is such a dick. And so is Hans.

The end of Conquest Ch13 is horrible.

I won't spoil much, but I really wanted to recruit Skarlet

Mmm those Strengh Growths and Modifiers. Wolfssenger is one of my favorite classes in the game (albeit 2 main users). It has such a great mix of DEF, SPD, and STR. Kana is a little bit annoying due to her innate Dragon Weakness but its all good nonetheless. I would run Quioxtic over Hoshidan Unity but the bonuses that it gives to the enemy are too dangerous for me. Perhaps I may try both... Anyways, here are my Revelations Pairings:

Corrin (+STR / -DEF) x Effie!Velouria

Azura x Ryoma

Jakob x Selena

Silas x Peri

Kaze x Mozu

Takumi x Camilla

Saizo x Orochi

Kaden x Setsuna

Hinata x Hinoka

Azama x Oboro

Subaki x Rinkah

Hayato x Sakura

Xander x Charlotte

Leo x Felicia

Benny x Beruka

Keaton x Effie

Arthur x Kagero

Odin x Elise

Laslow x Hana

Niles x Nyx

The kids are still pretty sweet due to their ability to learn just about every skill in the game through My Castle. Also, 3rd Wave of DLC in Japan HOIP

Whens Apotheosis 2.0

Okay, so how does getting skills in battling in their castle work? Most of the time when I beat them, I am unable to get any skills from them at all. Despite having the money. What kind of rules are there for getting these abilities?

This last time I ran into a castle that had mid level, base class characters with 6 abilities each. how is that possible? Almost of all them had Aptitude so I snagged that. But there were also a bunch of those other skills I could have gotten as well.

----------

Also, how did you organize your castle?

At first, I set things up to be a defensive dick.

I set up golems all along the front of the base by where invaders' main force spawns. But in front of them I put ally statues to make units spend attacks breaking at least one to get through to them in order to retaliate.

Slightly behind the golems I set up the magic turret and set one of my magic uses to spawn close by. Oh, and I set up the one block of pillars you get on the space where the mage would have to stand to operate the turret.

The map, in general, I chose is the one with lots of water in it and small bridges to cross from one quarter section to the next, creating funnels and controlling where most units could move. I purposely placed buildings in the way so that they would have to be destroyed in order to allow access. And even then, blocking the other end of the bridge is another statue to break to get across.

So yeah, it was a really bad idea to try charging the front when the main force spawns and it was easier for foes to try to advance by skirting the edges of the map and reaching the top corners first. Even if there were still some buildings placed in the way to slow units down.

------

But now I'm being nice and making my castle easy to beat. Why? I want more bp from visitors. It's easy enough to vp by going to places and getting visitors in general or having visitors use buildings.

I also arranged things so that they make more sense while making the castle easy enough to beat.

1. The Dusk Dragon statue is placed up at the front where it's easy to take out first turn. I didn't want to demolish it, even if I have more than enough DVP to remake it several times over

2. One map corner has the hot springs and Lilith's Temple... the privacy and tranquility of which are guarded by all 3 golems at my disposal and Lilith herself.

3. My arena is located next to the jail. For a reason. =P

4. The mess hall is located next to the barracks/living quarters.

5. Rod shop, armory, and resources are conveniently located in the middle. Other stuff is off to the side and the last corner. Statues are dislplayed around and in front of the throne.

6. Castle is deliberately manned by unarmed units. These include units recruited from other places that had a bunch of skills that wasn't allowed to inherit from some reason. And Moszu with her Aptitude ability. I want to see if you guys can inherit any of these skills when you win.

-- So yeah, let me know what abilities and from which units you guys are able to get.--

And for you Europeans that don't have the game available yet, here are some things you should know before you start tearing into it when it becomes available to you.

1. It costs you resources to make accessories. If you give someone an accessory when you visit their castle, YOU DON'T LOSE THAT ACCESSORY. The player simply gets a copy of something you already have. Took me a while to learn this. So be nice and give an accessory to everyone, every time.

2. Also important, giving a person an accessory doesn't take you out of their castle. Most buildings and things you can 'use' in another castle will send you back to your own once you've used them.

3. Wanna buy a seal from another player's shop (especially since we're gonna be ahead of you and have more inventory to buy)? You can only buy one, even if they have infinite in stock. Then you're booted out.

4. You only have two different resources- one mineral and one food in nature. To get more and of different kinds, you have to connect to the internet and visit other people's castles. So do that often. Even if you don't do anything else in other people's castles. The better accessories take quite a few resources.

5. You don't gain EXP or weapon mastery in DLC maps/battles. Unless it is specifically the Exp DLC map. However, you can grind them to build up support convos.

6. DLC battles WILL still use up items like vulneraries and staffs/rods, so be careful. Unless you get the gold dlc map. Then you won't care.

7. Castle Battles will restore items like vulneraries and staves to their previous state once the battle is done. No exp or mastery gained, but support can be built up and you can recruit an enemy unit or inherit one of their skills.

8. Visiting castles gets you VP, visiting points. Collect enough and you'll get nice items as rewards in your inbox. Which is great for early on when even the gold or exp dlc will overwhelm your team and you will have very limited funds. It will also give you Dragon Vein points, which you need to build and upgrade things in your castle. Which you will want. You also get points when other people visit your castle.

9. Battling other people in your castle or theirs gets you battle points. They also accumulate to give you rewards (and they're generally better than the VP rewards in my opinion). You also get points if someone visits your castle and chooses to battle your defenders.

10. Defenders are populated in your castle automatically be default, but that can be switched off. Why? So you can purposely make your castle more prone to be invaded- see the section above this one. You have to go to the auto-place defenders option under castle options to turn this off, then you go to Place Defenders to set who and where you want your units to be.

11. Accessories- they give slight boosts in castle battles. But the also change the way a character looks in ALL battles, so if you want to make your assassin sniper look more badass, you might want to put the cross eye patch on xem, etc.

AMIIBOS

1. The first time you scan one, they show up in the castle and you talk to them. They will give you an item and disappear.

2. You can't get the amiibo to visit again until you've done another battle. That CAN be a story battle, or more likely you will want to do a castle battle, or dlc battle (there is one absolutely free dlc map you can get)

3. The second time you scan it in, they will talk again and give you another item. But this is important. There is a top and bottom answer for this question, just as there was for the first time. If you answer both questions with the top answer, you will get the same item twice. If you do one top and one bottom, you will get different items. I suggest you remember which one you chose the first time and choose the other one the next time.

4. On the third scan, you talk to them and they will challenge you to a battle. They then appear on the map and you can fight them to gain them on their team.

5. You can't do anything else with the amiibo until you defeat their hero battle mission. Or so I'm guessing. They will show up and tell you they're still there in that mission waiting to battle. The battles are tough and I haven't tried to defeat one in a while. If they allow you to get items or do something different or just have you battle them again after winning... well, I'll let you know once I find out for myself.

----

All that being said here are my resources and some of the accessories I've got that are either neat or are normally costly but give you bigger bonuses.

So if you have need of these, you know which castle to visit.

If you want me to visit your castle and give you a particular accessory, let me know.
