saltwater
Hi there as you can probably guess from the title I was wandering which gen breeding mechanics does reborn use? I've been basing my builds of 6th gen but if it does in fact use 5th gen then I can exeriment more with my egg moves. Thanks in advance.
Kurotsune
Reborn uses all mechanics of the latest generation to be released.
saltwater
That's a shame, I have seen some old posts on the forum that indicate it used to be possible so do you have any idea when reborn switched from 5th to 6th gen mechanics? I'll just go back to that episode and breed the move over that way.
Fumble
Yea, if you download E12 or lower (which you can look at the breeding guide or other threads for), breeding will utilize gen 5 mechanics.
Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch Posted February 14, 2016 Global Mods Share Posted February 14, 2016 I had no idea breeding mechanics even changed. I thought they've been the same since Gen 2.
Kurotsune
Regardless when you can do it, it'd be appreciated if you played the game following it's rules instead of trying to cheat through them; Regardless, if you search enough, you'll find the episodes yourself. saltwater
Thank you for the replies guys and I already have episode 12 on my computer so I'll give it a go. Btw I wouldn't consider utilizing old game mechanics to get an archeops with earthquake to be cheating, if I wanted to cheat I would just download rpg maker and gen the pokemon in that way, you know similar to what you did to get a dragon dance tyranitar. Ironbound
That's certainly up to you, but Idk if cheating ought to be mentioned here. Going back to a previous episode to get things like Energy Ball Chandelier is considered a gray area, methinks.

Those are just trainer cards for the site; they don't necessarily reflect in-game teams.
saltwater
Apoligies, I didn't mean to be so pugnacious in my response I just took offense to the accusation of cheating but I can see I may of overreacted. I humbly tip my non existant hat to you all.
Commander
Those are just trainer cards for the site; they don't necessarily reflect in-game teams. Tbh, most people, like myself, put their competitive teams on there or joke teams (cough Bibs cough). As for episode hopping, it's frowned upon as you can screw up your save. If you want to risk it, go ahead, but I never really felt the need to breed as learning the field effects is far more valuable than any single move (aka strategy > power). Luna
Well as chubb said E12 and below has gen 5 mechanics. but E9 and E10 has no gen 6 pokemon so if you wanna breed gen 6 mons with gen 5 breeding mechanics the best episode to do so is in E12. Oh and if you wanna breed 6 perfect iv on a pokemon the easiest episode to do so is E14 since in E14 there was a bug where power items and destiny knot stack. Yeah episode jumping is risky and might cause problems. the best place to episode jump is in a pokemon center as the pokemon center hardly changes. Kurotsune
you know similar to what you did to get a dragon dance tyranitar. I'd assume someone with a "Developer" member title would be exempt from such accusations, alas, I'd be wrong. As previously mentioned, no, that's not an in-game team. It's something I set up nearly a year ago, then disabled signatures, and completely forgot to ever remove. So thanks for that. What I'm saying is that in my personal opinion, regressing to previous episodes is cheating. It disregards all effort we've put into balancing and updating the game to the latest version and discards those changes in favor of getting stronger pokémon who the latter episodes were probably not balanced towards. It can also break your game, and something of a silent agreement between the development/support teams is that games that used previous episodes or cheats are not assisted. Individual opinion may vary and some may be willing to offer support, but my (and most of ours) general opinion is that while you're free to do it, you're effectively giving up your warranty. Does that mean you shouldn't do it? No. By all means, go for it. If that's how you have fun with the game, you're welcome to do it. My intention is not really to regulate how you play. I am, however, entitled to my opinion - And believe that you should be made aware of the full implications of what the action entails. As a more personal suggestion, I'd counsel taking care with your responses. That type of backlash can quickly cause commentary to devolve into bickering, and that's really just going to cause you headaches more than anyone. And all that said, the question of whether reborn uses gen V or VI mechanics has been answered. It may be best to close the thread before it devolves (further) into a discussion on the moralities of cheating. I realize I am just as at fault for that, but my advice stands. CMV
I would say E12 breeding just about puts us more casual players on equal footing with the in-game trainers (mostly gym leaders, but sometimes even random trainers) who always seem to have every single TM, Move Tutor and competitive item accessible to them. saltwater
I've already apoligised for being too eager to quarrel so there was really no need to clarify your position, this was my attempt at defusing the situation before it escalted as I too feared a slanging match but I really do not appreciate the tone of your comments. Although they may appear civil they are laced with passive aggressive threats; basically don't annoy you else in future you'll refuse to help me, which i must say is a tremendous attitude to have. Being a game developer, admin, owner or whatever does not mean you automatically demand my respect or that you have any authority over me, respect is earned. I understand that your position is unlikely to be threatened in comparison to mine and you are correct that I probably would come out worse than you but if you think that will make me bend and cower like a meak little puppy you are mistaken.
