Flux
Official Site: http://hr.sao-game.jp/ So I just found out about this game today, and anyone who's seen my status probably knows how excited I am. If you don't already know or can't tell, I'm a huge SAO fan, and Hollow Realization is the fourth Sword Art Online based video game to be released. As of right now, it has a 2016 date for Western releases and will be released on PS4 and PS Vita. Apparently a European trailer said "Fall 2016," but the NA trailer only said 2016. Anyway, It takes place chronologically after Sword Art Online: Lost Song, though you don't really need to play any of the previous games to understand it. The games take a slightly different path than the anime, but there isn't any really overarching story between them as of yet. Hollow Realization takes place in a game called "Sword Art: Origin," which is apparently one of Sword Art Online's early servers. You play as Kirito (I imagine you'll likely be able to change which character you play as in parties, similarly to Lost Song) and work your way through this version of Aincrad. I'm pretty excited for another SAO Aincrad game, as Infinity Moment was only a PSP game, and therefore very limited in what it could do. There's a pretty good article that talks about what we know here: http://gematsu.com/2015/12/sword-art-online-hollow-realization-coming-west-2016 And the official (NA) trailer is here: The gameplay is described as an action RPG, and seems to be sort of a mix between Hollow Fragment's RPG style and Lost Song's action style for those who've played them. A video here shows some of the different skills available in combat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_ELQ-HQbf4 And there's a sample boss battle here: Keep in mind that the game isn't out in Japan yet either, so these are all still in a "beta" state and the game might look and play a bit different when it's released. The world seems pretty big compared to past SAO games. Here's a screenshot of what is called the "Hill/Canyon" area on the official site. As you can tell, it looks pretty big. I'm really hoping that everything we can see here is explorable. The trailer shows some jumping around terrain, so I'd imagine that if you can see it, you can go there. I'm really hoping it's at least semi open world, but we'll see. The environment is pretty nice looking though. Here's another screenshot from the official site, called the "forest" area: Anyway, I'm super excited for this and will most definitely be buying it. Anyone else here who plans to get it? Any thoughts on the game? It appears to be a step up in both gameplay and visuals from past SAO games, and each game has progressively been better than the last in my opinion, so I have high hopes for this.
