Vespia and her moon, Sasha.

A world that has seen a lot of strife and pain and happiness and love over it's lifetime.

The planet has been a witness to many, many things

49 years ago the world began to see something new.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to Deiville!

Deiville is my new RP, centred around the nation filled with superheroes and villains alike. The namesake country, Deiville, is an Island on the world of Vespia, kudos if you get the reference, that serves as a haven for the mysterious new race known as the Altered who appeared 43 years ago. You are all people born and raised in this city, for better or for worse, and you each make do with your lives here.

However, recently there have been reports of Altered men and women undergoing horrific mutations, either dying on the spot in a gruesome spectacle of gore or transforming into rampaging monstrosities hell bent on tearing the island city apart. This isn't just the talk of the town either. Eyes from across the world are watching the situation unfold. If no one gets to the bottom of these mysterious mutations then the nation of Deiville may find themselves dealing with more than just internal threats.

If you join this RP then you'll find yourself relying on your wit, ingenuity and of course your own peculiar powers, the birthright of the Altered, to maneuver through a web of lies and intrigue half a decade old.

Or you could try to pummel the answers out of every faction leader there is. Who knows? You'll have to try it to find out.

World information [Read most of it]

Vespia and its people

The world of Vespia is very similar to earth technologically speaking, so yes weaponry such as firearms and vehicles will feature as well as other modern inventions such as tablets and smartphones. Vespia differs in geography and history, although for this RP the world history may as well not exist. The main things to remember is that Deiville is wedged between two world superpowers. The Oslonians, a former military nation that controls the north-western part of Vespia, and the Theocracy of Jadin (pronounced Jay-din) who control the south-eastern section whilst spreading their own religion of Jadis that extols virtues such as patience, love and charity. Deiville lies in between the two in the Sasheen ocean. Both nations have been in a state of turmoil as opposing views to each nations traditional values have arisen, the power of better communication allowing different opinions to spread and hold more sway over the two nations.

Most of Deiville's residents once lived in one of these two nations as every Altered was sent to Deiville for their own good, to prevent any prejudice due to them essentially being a different race with the appearance of the Altered's abilities.

Right now there are a total of 4 generations living in Deiville. The first generation of Alts are the first to show powers, the second are those born of Altered parents. 3rd generation are those born with at least one 2nd gen parent. Naturally 4th gen is then an Altered person with one 3rd gen parent, though there aren't many of these because, well, people need time to grow up and then get into a romance to then have a child.

1st gen powers are the standard generic stuff and here isn't much variety. Super-attributes, telekinesis, elemental affinity etc. As you go down the generations the powers become more varied and generally weirder. These powers typically manifest during puberty, the exception being the widespread revelation of powers in the 1st gen Alts.

Altered are also colloquially referred to as Alts.

Geography of Deiville

The island of Deiville itself is essentially one huge city, any resources are either imported or artificially created using the current technology. No farms or countryside in sight.

The city is split into 4 districts. Commerce to the north, Entertainment to the south, Development to the west and Residential to the east. The centre of the city is where all the politics and law enforcement officials work.

Commerce is where all goods are imported/exported as well as where people go if they need to travel, though all Altered can only leave on a temporary basis. If they try to flee, they are hunted and put on trial. The docks here are the only part of the island coastline not blocked off by the 30 meter tall walls that ring the island.

Entertainment is where the media resides. News stations, movie production, games development and such goes on here to make sure the general populace is either informed or occupied. The further away from the centre you get, the shadier the organisations become. The outskirts have more porn directors than news anchors by a significant margin, to put it simply.

Development is where food is grown and the Altered go for regular testing. Naturally there is a lot unknown about the Altered even now and so this research is a big priority. This district also has the least amount of crime as everyone wants to know the truth and no one wants to disturb those who find it. Also the artificial farms are kept under tight watch all throughout this district.

Finally Residential is just that, a place for everyone to live. Important thing to note, you don't have to live here but it costs a lot to live in another district.

Going from the centre of Deiville outwards, the standard of living decreases. The outskirts are rife with gangs, thugs and general threats to your wellbeing. Buildings get more run down and in general it sucks.

Factions and Important figures in the public eye

First, you got the current government. Under the strict supervision of President Anthony Farside and his VP Jessica Duthorne there is a tenuous balance attained in the city. Slowly progress is being made in establishing good relations with the outside world and crime is being stopped throughout Deiville, though that particular change really is very slow.

Standing in direct opposition to the President is the rebel group Carter's Abominations. They are a group of Alts that claim the government is corrupt and seek revolution through violence, waging war on the police forces that try to approach the outskirts and threatening the balance that Farside has forged. The group isn't very vocal about their ideals and all Altered have been warned to keep their distance if they see a man wrapped in black leather clothing with a matching helmet.

So, reading the world info should set you up with all the bits and bobs you need to make a decent character. Now for sign-ups!

Sign-up Sheet

Name: Bonus points if you make a subtle superhero reference

Age: Between the ages of 12 and 43

Gender: You can be whoever you wanna be, Billy.

Generation: You can be a second or third generation Altered. Don't sweat it too much, just know that older characters are going to be gen 2 whilst younger characters are gen 3.

Power: You get One power. I stress that, One. Think carefully before deciding this because this is your biggest distinguishing trait from anyone else and will remain that way throughout the whole RP. The major things that are unavailable are the very generic stuff and reality breaking powers. If you can easily think of one superhuman who has this power, change it.

Note: You can pick an exploitable power all you want, I encourage it, but a younger character won't have the experience to take advantage of this fully. It'd be better if you didn't use your powers full capability for a while, to show some nice character development and keep a few aces up your sleeve. You will need them because characters with the standard superpower gimmicks do exist in the form of the gen 1 Altered.

Sub-powers: General passive abilities you'd need to make your power work. Your character controls bugs? Well they'd need an internal radar that informs them where usable bugs are. Work with fire? (No, this is not a go-ahead to make a pyrokinetic) Well you'd probably need a resistance to heat. So on and so forth.

Character summary: Just summarise who your character is, where they came from, what their motivation is to investigate the mutations etc. Focus on the motivation. If you want to go for more detail, talk about their personal values a little. Are they a real By-the-book kinda guy? Or a bit of an unruly rebel girl? You tell me.

Appearance: Again, dead quick summary on what they look like. No need to be super detailed, not like their appearance is going to be a big focal point. Height, hair colour, eye colour, that stuff.

Extra: Thngs like your PCs current occupation, family or anything else you can think of.

Example sign-up sheet.

Name: Jimmy Hopkins

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Generation: 3rd

Power: Being a dick. <-- Quick summary of the power Jimmy is not constrained by social circumstances and can be a dick for an indefinite amount of time <--Identifying circumstances of the powers usage. However, if his opponent is witty enough or bears particular personality traits, such as being incredibly patient, then his power can be rendered largely ineffective<-- Identifying limitations.

Sub-Powers: Jimmy is more observant than the average individual to supplement his ability to pick at possible psychological weaknesses.

Character Summary: Jimmy is an unpleasant individual that most people avoid. He resents many people he used to know when living in the outskirts and when he heard about the mutations in the news he decided to seek out what caused it with the hopes he could inflict that on those other people. He has no moral compunctions about how he gets to the bottom of the mystery.

In specific he hates his parents, devout Jadists who maintain the religion of the Theocracy even in Deiville. He couldn't stand how they always expected him to be kind and loving. So now he wants to do the opposite.

Appearance: Small, Five foot three inches tall with short black hair that is riddled with dandruff. He has beady black eyes and a permanent scowl on his face that puts his yellowing teeth on display.

Ok, I think that is all you need to get started. If there are any questions about any missing details you think you could use or you're just confused about, feel free to ask. I'll only be accepting 8 people at max so that I can keep track of everyone. I'm honestly sorry about that, considering the surprising amount of interest shown in this, but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew with this one.

Submissions close this friday and I'll announce who is in on the coming monday, all things going well.

Name: Richard Albert Goddard

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Generation: Gen 2

Power: "Staying Power" - Basically, whenever Richard does something that physically applies force, he can focus on that action to continue to apply that force. This is displayed via "astral projections" of a lime-green color that are semi-opaque and take the shape of the object applying the force and the force applied. Examples include using himself to boost up to a higher place by first doing the action of boosting something up, focusing on it, and then using his own projection to get the boost he needs. The drawback to this is that this ability expends energy at a fraction of the energy initially used to start, but continuously so long as he maintains the force. Thus, the overall strain on his body can get fatiguing if he has too many projections at once. As for the actions of movement, the projections loop at the same speed that they were initially executed in so long as Richard maintains them.

Sub-powers: As for sub-powers, Richard has slightly more resilient body towards fatigue since his own power conditions his body for it's use. Secondly, Richard has a heightened sense of focus, meaning he can focus on what's immediately apparent to him as well as his maintenance on his projections.

Character summary: Richard is the product of two Altered parents who applied a lot of their time towards using their abilities to defend the people of Deiville. Acting as part of the justice system, they sought to make Deiville a safe land from the actions of the unjust, continuing to do the work of Jadis despite their banishment for being Altered. Richard grew up rather well off, spending his childhood in the family villa practicing painting and being homeschooled in advanced subjects. Around the time his abilities had begun to develop, Richard was scared of his power and his inability to understand or control it, always crying for help from his parents to sooth his worries. Around the time he was 15, his life drastically changed when his father transformed into a monstrosity and rampaged through their villa. Distraught and paralyzed with fear, Richard watched as his changed father and mother fought each other, tearing apart their home piece by piece. Desperate to stop them, Richard placed the force of his right arm in the way of his mother in a bid to protect her, which bought her time are the cost of Richard's veins bursting in his arm due to the sheer power he was trying to stop. His screams of pain managed to give the creature that was his father pause just long enough for his mother to deal a finishing blow at the cost of her own life. In a near catatonic state, Richard barely recognized his mother's last words as the police arrived to control the situation. This event would lead Richard to become fearful and hateful of the Altered "gift", devoting his life towards serving justice to the changed ones or those Altered who acted unjustly. He must discover the truth behind the curse of the Altered in order to bring salvation to the afflicted people of Deiville and save them from his parents fate. Determined and predatory, Richard will stop at nothing to achieve what he sets his mind to.

Appearance: 6'4" and 201 lbs, Richard cuts an imposing figure that has been trained and conditioned through his ability and his work. His frame is further accentuated by his defined muscles and rigid posture, maintaining peak fitness and athleticism. Richard has light blonde hair cut in a Caesar style with a darker set of sideburns which end perfectly squared mid-ear and a dark, well defined goatee. His square jaw and shape visage accentuate his predatory, piercing green eyes and his permanently stern expression. Somewhat pale due to his amount of time indoors, Richard's most defining feature on his skin is a large, spreading scar from his right shoulder down to his wrist that follows the path of his veins. As for clothing, Richard tends to wear boots, trousers, sleeveless turtlenecks, blouses, and undershirts.

Extra: Has very little feeling in his right arm and lacks some motor functions with it due to nerve damage. Was placed in a boarding school with his parents inheritance and has since been alone aside from his job. This job, being that of a bodyguard and general heavy for the Development district. Overall, he acts as a contracted government safety officer.

Phew, all done! I look forward to the events that are soon to transpire, haha.

Not sure whether I want to bring back my old Brailen's Gifted character or come up with a new one. Might submit both sheets, tbh, and make you pick.

EDIT: Three WIP sheets. I'm still deciding, though comments on which one looks the most interesting would help me do so.

EDIT 2: Picked one.

Name: Lugh Callaghan

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Generation: 3

Power: The power to create and control "gaps" to some unknown location. Looking inside them reveals what looks to be an endless starfield. He can pass through these gaps to move from place to place (teleporting with them, basically, though he can be followed rather than instantly vanishing as it takes a moment for a gap to close and he has to physically move through the gap.) They can also be used as physical barriers and moved at about walking speed in any direction. A gap can be opened in midair or fitted to a physical barrier of some variety, in which case it will fit itself to it. The edges and back of a gap are somewhat repulsive to all solid objects, so telefragging doesn't really happen. (Though, if an object was smashed against one hard enough, I suppose it would break.)

Sub-powers: A very good memory for locations and an excellent spatial sense.

Character summary: A smart kid who's recently become somewhat of a delinquent, in a sense. Ever since he acquired his powers three years ago, he's been a bit less interested in going to school and keeping his grades up, though he's not quite failing. The mutations are of interest to him for a few reasons - including his awareness that he could very well fall victim to something similar - but what prompted his investigation was the same incident in which he realized his power. A frequent tormentor of his in school (his small size seemed to invite this sort of thing) cornered him, before the older boy's body started to warp and contort itself into unnatural shapes. Unable to think of nothing but how badly he wanted to get away, he backed into the wall behind him - and continued, passing through a strange space and his foot landing on the carpet of his bedroom rather than colliding with the wall of the school building. After this occurred, he tried to make it back to the school via the bus system, only to discover that it had been closed for the rest of the week. Nobody was allowed inside, except the police.

It didn't take him long to try and duplicate the effect that had possibly saved his life and realize that he'd come into his powers. His curiosity overwhelmed his good sense, so he started trying to find all the information he could about the Altered and the horrible things that had been happening to them - at the expense of his time in school and the deep concern of his parents.

Appearance: Dark haired with somewhat pale skin. He's a bit short for his age, with a rounded (but not fat) face. His eyes are a bright blue. He usually wears plain jeans and a t-shirt, with a jacket that he wears on his shoulders like a cape. He has one of his gaps laid against the interior of the jacket much of the time, which can be somewhat unsettling to look at.

Extra: He makes a certain amount of money from participating in voluntary testing in Development. His parents are fairly poor, so most of the time they're too busy working to really control him.

Name: Sasha Nevaro
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Generation: 2nd
Power:
"Phantasmal Pocket"

Sasha exudes a constant, Incorporeal Spatial field around her body. When activated, this Spatial Field allows Sasha to shift all, or parts of, her corporeal form into a personal pocket of subspace, while still leaving the incorporeal field behind to occupy the physical space her body once did, as a "Proxy form" of sorts. This, in turn, allows her to occupy physical space with an incorporeal form, thus rendering her intangible for a period of time; able to pass through space and matter without disrupting or damaging them unless she actually chooses to allow contact to be established.
She can maintain her intangibility for as long as she can keep herself focused on keeping her Corporeal Form in the Pocket Space, however the difficulty of doing so becomes greater and greater with the more time that consecutively passes. Currently, Sasha can maintain it in a single go for an average of seven consecutive minutes before the stress becomes too great to sustain it. She can extend her field onto solid matter she has contact with and render them intangible as well, however the effect ends the moment said contact is broken.
Given the nature and functioning of the ability, however, other individuals with power over Spatial Manipulation can potentially still touch her while intangible by attempting to force their way into her Pocket Space, or by trying to forcefully tear her corporeal form out of it; in such situations though, it would honestly come down to a contest of raw skill, power, and force of will than anything else.
Subpowers:
Sasha has a far higher mental capacity for extended concentration and far greater ability for multitasking than the average person, given that her ability requires she be able to simultaneously split her focus between multiple fronts at once, (such as maintaining her intangibility, keeping observant on her surroundings and the situation at hand, moving through space, etc.). She is also fully capable of sensing and keeping track of anything present within her pocket of subspace and sensing matter within the vicinity of her Spatial Field.
Summary:

Abandoned in the slums of the city outskirts as a child. Neither remembered her parents, age, date of birth, or even her own name, only the harsh lessons and ways of the streets she had little choice but to observe and learn if she wished to survive in her environment. It is unknown for exactly how long the girl spent surviving on her own, but eventually she was found by a Detective investigating a string of potentially related homicides in the area... John C. Coldman.
Against the staunch protests made by his then partner, Coldman refused to simply leave the child in her current environment. Using his threat of his superior rank to shut the man up, he took the girl with them when they returned to the precinct. It was there that, after hearing the thoughts and input of several of his colleagues, Coldman ultimately decided to take the child in to prevent the girl potentially becoming just another lost and forgotten case within the system; to actually give the girl the chance that she had probably been denied from even before the day she was born. They estimated the child's age as best they could, settled her birthday for the day she'd been found, even gave her an actual name while they were working on the papers: Sasha, after the fascination she had whenever she saw the moon in the night sky. From that day, Coldman raised her as his own. Fed her, clothed her, put her through school, watched her grow up. The man was the closest thing to an actual parent the kid had ever known.

Eventually, Sasha decided to follow in the footsteps of the man who'd raised her. She worked hard, studied, endured the training, passed the exams; graduated from the academy top of her class. She became an Officer of the law, was assigned to the same Precinct as Coldman, infact. And she didn't stop there either. She kept up the hard work, gave the job her all. By age 23, she had made detective. Saying the coldman wasn't proud that day... well, it would've been a blatant lie.
A few years passed by. Things were looking well. Sasha did her job, and she did it well. She was even engaged; Fellow upstart Detective Kim Salazan... about time he finally popped the question, she had thought. Hell, they'd only known each other since their days in the academy after all, had been seeing ever since they were first starting out as patrolmen in the precinct...

But Things change as time passes by. And People change too....

literally. Into things that aren't quite people in the end.

It was back when the outbreak first began. Kim was out on assignment to one of the city slums, him and his partner out there to serve an arrest warrant for a suspect in an armed robbery that had left the shop owner dead and the place destroyed... and they found him. Indeed they did...
But he wasn't human for long afterwards. Kim protected bystanders and bought enough time for his Partner to radio in and summon backup. It was the swarm of responding officers and SWAT who gunned down the beast before it could carry it's rampage any further afterwards... they had won, that day. But Kim had paid for that victory dearly... The irony of it all, just about a month or two from their wedding date, and he gets so badly wounded on the job, fighting some abomination that literally came out of nowhere...

the entire precinct felt the ripples left by his injury in the line of duty... but none felt it harder than Sasha. The doctors had said he wouldn't survive through the night. When he managed to last three, they said that it was unlikely he'd ever wake up from the Coma.

She surprised people though... rather than taking time off, take a break to cope with it, collect herself a bit... Sasha instead did what she had always been good at. Throw herself into her work. No break, didn't even accept the counseling offered when the rest of the precinct received the prognosis. Case after case, that was all. That was everything. She was adamant she be assigned to anything new that came up. Day and night, didn't matter anymore. Only the work... she didn't even visit Kim after those initial few times, after the doctors had pretty much pronounced him dead already.

She had to know why. How. Why Kim was reduced to lying in a bed and relying on a machine to keep him alive... for what reason, what utterly fucked up course of logical events, could've possibly caused an Alt to morph into some... some god awful monster and start tearing apart anything in front of it.
Her colleagues started getting more and more concerned as time went on. With each day, she was more getting more and more haggard, the bags under her eyes more and more noticeable... Some of them thought that Kim's death might well be pushing her over the edge, closer and closer towards a complete mental breakdown. Others were just worried she'd end up burning her body out at the rate she was going. Some people felt certain both were almost certain to happen.
Regardless, it didn't matter. Everyone could see it. Everyone in the precinct noticed it. There was nothing she could do when the head of the precinct called her into his office and forced her to take a paid leave of absence... a "Respite", as he had called it. She was told to go home. Told to talk to someone, visit Kim, try to come to terms with things. When she protested, tried to say she was fine... he answered her opposition by telling her to stop trying to bury herself in her work. To stop running, stop hiding. That alone was enough to shut her up almost immediately.

She had little choice. It was an order. She went home... slept, ate. And then... then she went to visit Kim. Even though seeing him like that, hooked up to those damn machines, barely able to breath on his own. Broken, weak... barely even there anymore. Nothing like he should've been...nothing like he once was... But she went. And she saw him.

And she hated the entire experience. Just like she knew she would. How unfair it all was, how utterly fucking random the circumstances had been, how out of left field, but mostly just how fucking unfair the whole thing was. Cops were injured everyday, cops died every day, it came with the territory. She had accepted that years ago when she'd taken the oath. He had too. But they were injured and killed fighting crime. Chasing fugitives, stopping robberies, catching killers before they can strike again, taking down drug dealers before they can do any more harm to the community... Cops were supposed to only have to worry about crime. And they had enough to deal with just from that... Especially when the entire population was hopped up on some form of super juice or another.

But...monsters? Fucking Monsters?

Everything about it... she couldn't take it. She needed fucking answers. And If she couldn't find them with the authority of the Precinct; with the department...

Then she'd go out and get them alone.

Appearance:

A Moorish-skinned woman, standing at an underwhelming 4"10, barely reaching a little over 5" in heels. Has an agile and athletic physique and notably toned muscles and body. Cascades of dark brown curls drape her shoulders, framing a diamond shaped face with an upturned nose and brilliant, unsettling silver eyes that seem to almost shine like the sun-kissed slivers of a shattered mirror under certain lighting. Numerous, long faded scars are visible on her back and numerous other parts of her body, some of which she acquired on the streets, others she has no recollection when or where she got them.
Extra:
Her growth was stunted as a child due to malnutrition, resulting in her short stature as an adult.

WIP Sheet here, move along.

It's done now.

Name: Doctor Simon "Hornet" Vespin

Age: 30

Gender: Male

Generation: 2nd

Main Power: Doc Hornet's power is that of size manipulation. Doc Hornet can alter the sizes of the Atoms of the things altered without changing their other physical properties or their chemical properties. It works on himself, others, and objects, and anything changed retains any other properties at any size. However, for people and things other than himself, the effects wear off if he doesn't focus on keeping the changes maintained. Additionally, the more extreme the size change, the faster it reverts back to normal size. There's also a limit to how small he can shrink something or how big he can upsize something.

Sub-Powers: None are needed, since the atoms are shrunken or expanded in their entirety, preventing any changes in their other physical properties or their chemical properties.

Character Summary: The eldest son of two from an Altered Scientist and an Altered Policewoman, Simon was in the spotlight of his parents until his younger brother was born. This happened when he was roughly 14, at which point he felt pretty small in the world. Surprisingly enough, this triggered his powers, and he shrunk to how small he felt, which was small enough to be hard to notice. He and the rest of his family panicked a little at this, but his mom had very keen eyes and eventually found him an hour or two later. When she found him, the two tried focusing on returning to normal size, and much to their surprise and joy, he did so merely by thinking about it. From then on, his father had him help out in the lab, and the two were excellent at building prototypes of Miniaturized Technology. However, his Mother was eventually killed while trying to contain an Altered that had gone Mutant, as was his Father when debris from the rampage fell on top of him. Now alone, he works as a scientist, trying to make the most of his gift. He hasn't discovered the full extent of his powers yet, despite having gone into his Thirties and having regularly exercised his Powers in his Lab. After all, he's never needed to make himself larger before. His motivation for investigating the Mutations is to find out how to stop it from occurring again, having had a bad experience with it when he was younger.

Appearance: Depending on what size he's taken on, his height can range from half a millimeter tall to a kilometer tall. however, in his default mode, he's 2.1 meters tall, and weighs 86 kilograms. He has short and straight auburn hair, narrow brown eyes, and a tan skin coloration. His face is square in shape, and he has a hooked nose. He wears a long white lab coat on top of what is usually blue jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt.

Extra: It's easier for him to make things shrink to smaller-than-normal sizes than for him to make things grow larger than they usually are. It's part of the reason why he hasn't figured out that he can expand things to larger than they normally are, including himself. The other part is that he's never needed to use the other part of his power. He's currently working as a Scientist, and is working on the forefront of Miniaturization of Technology.

Name: Billie Gavin-Modesty

Age: 12.5

Gender: Female

Generation: Gen 3

Power: Jellyware;

ability to compose free energy into a form of green gellatinous substance, then give it a task and a purpose, before leaving it to do its thing, like a golem. The one with this power is capable of forming this jelly apparently out of thin air. It can take various forms, whichever one desires, and can be used to perform many-a-tasks, ranging from those menial to some more impactful, like forming into a serpentinous dragon to let you ride it on its back. However, the larger the construct, the more energy the user needs to invest to actually form the free energy into the desired form, but once it's held in place, the construct is completely self-sustainable, and will last until its energy reserves are depleted. More complicated tasks, naturally waste larger amounts of energy. Generally, it's easier to create constructs you've already created before. Also, more than one construct can be created at once.

Sub-powers: None, she's normal.

Character summary: Billie is and had always been poor. As a child, her parents died under mysterious circumstances and she was taken in by her aunt. However, she had also passed away only a year earlier, from some disease and Billie was left alone at the expense of the city, which they gladly declined providing her, as she was nobody important, and she was sent to an equally poor orphanage in the outskirts, where nobody really came to adopt children, as who would want to go do that in the slums when they could do it in a more well-off part of the city. Those rare times that people actually came for some children, it was mostly those weirdoes who delude themselves by thinking they can make a difference and then go and adopt a poor child just to make themselves feel better.

Ever since her aunt fell sick, Billie has had to provide for herself, as well as her. Naturally, she was too young to have a serious job, so she had to resort to pickpocketing. The mild, meek, and also kind Billie now found herself pickpocketing for a living and, worst of all, she became good at it and even started to enjoy it a little, making pranks with her victims using her developing powers to grab their wallets or rummage through their pockets. So, yes, she was perfectly capable of surviving in that particular orphanage. However, a surprise came around when, one morning, she found herself getting woken up and told that someone was there to pick her up. Already fully integrated into the life over there, she felt more surprised than overjoyed, and even worried, as who knew who'd have come to adopt her. What if they were also poor, or were weird? Her doubts would soon be dispersed, though, as, when she walked out the door, she found herself facing a female dressed nice enough that she was immediately certain she wasn't from the slums. And she was correct, as the woman who had adopted her introduced herself as Blaise Garvin, a young reporter who was looking into the evergrowingly concrning incidents involving the mutations. She had apparently heard about Billie, whose parents' deaths were mysterious and probably intertwined with the matter, so she came to adopt her. Billie immediately thought to herself that this lady was just gonna take advantage of her by questioning her or something, even more so when she saw the way the lady nonschalantly mentioned this truth, like some sort of conversation starter. However, that proved not to be true, as Billie's next few months turned out to be the best months in her entire life. This lady really liked her, even if her intial motives seemed suspicious. Sure, there were a couple of questions she asked her here and there, like if she knew what her parents did or to confirm their personalities (neither which she knew, as she was only 3 when they were found dead) but nothing much, and she got to live in her nice apartment in the entertainment district. Apparently, miss Gavin made a nice sum of money out of her report work. The young Billie came to adore her for her ability and drive.

Months passed, and Billie turned 12 and a half, on that cruel night that Gavin was late from work. She never came home, and Billie later found out that Gavin was murdered while investigating. Another mysterious, unsolvable death... It crushed Billie, but it also gave her a new purpose. She escaped before they could put her in an orphanage again, her dress drenched in tears as her green blobs hovered around her in the sun, just waiting to protect her if someone were to try and grab her. She was sure it wasn't the mutated Alts which had killed her foster mother... It wasn't... She just knew it! And she was gonna find out who it was. Broken and left alone for the third time, Billie decided to cling onto the only thing that still mattered in her life, the one thing that had caused all of this... A desperate search, and a maniacal one as well, but that was beyond her comprehension at the time... and still remains so.

Appearance: 1.21 m, 30 kg, a skinny little girl with messy, dark brown bob-cut hair cutely curling itself up around the edges of her face, which would surely look even more cute than it already does if she were well-fed. An upturned little nose stands above her slightly agape, constantly awing mouth and atop of her rosy cheeks, riddled with freckles which counter the surface of her pale skin, almost looking detached from it. Her eyes are a crystal aquamarine, blinking away as all light seems to reflect with equal grace and beauty against their inner workings. She's generally dressed in rags over a simple, white dress, adorned with old-fashioned designs you'd picture on laces trimming your grandma's wooden table.

Extra: There are several forms she usually molds her goo into, most of which are elongated and serpentine. She always keeps one in her bag, just in case, but also as a trusty companion.

@Murdoc, in terms of just how useful the powers are at first glance, Solace seems to be the most flexible, if you're smart you can apply it in a variety of ways throughout the story. The other two, teleporting, my main issue with the second profile was the whole moving forwards and backwards through time shortly. I don't want anyone messing around with time shenanigans at all for simplicity's sake, considering how hard it is to relay the passage of time in between different people posting. Time is off limits, space is not though. Of course it still seems like a fancy way of saying teleporting, rather than being a unique power in and of itself. It's also not really applicable in combat without explicit training for such a thing. Like, it'd take an intuitive knowledge of positioning in a fight to take advantage of it so unless you specify some justification for your char having that, it'll be meh. On the flip side Solace can just take a beating and wobbuffet that shit right back at the enemy.

@Strat, PM me with details about Coldman. I'm not sure if you want to try the same thing you did last time and even then it's a different dynamic between your PC and Coldman than before so we'll need to talk a bit about it first.

The idea with the second character is that she wouldn't have much experience using the power at all, much less fighting using it. Also, the time bit was more a few seconds forward or backward, not big leaps unless something really unusual was happening - much like how the teleportation would only be a few feet, not jumping across the city or somesuch. Still, if you don't want any messing with time at all, I can scrap or rework the power.

I understood what you were trying with the power but you gotta think how other people are meant to respond to it, you know? It gives you a Mulligan for what is realistically a good chunk of a fight and invalidates the post before it by going backwards a few seconds in a fight. It's still a strong power without that but if you can think of a different spin on teleportation I'd be much happier.

I don't really intend to have another situation like we did for Elemus this time around. Coldman is more supposed to be just someone sticking to the background- given that he was already kinda getting up in age when he found and took in Sasha and has retired by the current time of the story. Pretty much a character who doesn't really have any barring on the conflict of the story outside the potential influence he would logically have on certain actions made by Sasha, whether directly or indirectly.

But yeah, I'll PM you with all the details about him once I finish Sasha's sheet.

EDIT: The sheet is done. and the PM is sent.

I'm just going to bump this a little, I was expecting more people to actually submit a sheet. Was I being a bit presumptuous setting a deadline? Probably. Shall I extend that in case anyone forgot about this? Yes, yes I think I will for now.

Well... I mostly have 0 idea how to write a power... since it seems it has to be abstract and I'm not sure how I can make that interesting... ((that and I was trying to get Heartless Souls stuff done when this came out so I was too busy to write a sheet. XD Guilty.))

Abstract, not particularly. It's literally an ability or a trait for your character to use in the story. It can be anything from burning words into things to having launchable eyeball grenades. Or to shoot emoticons from your nipples. Who knows? whatever you want, so long as it isn't bog standard stuff like super speed, strength etc.

If you're still short on submissions, I could probably write one up. This sounds interesting enough, and it reminds me of my old RP in some ways. Though I'd probably need an extension on that deadline if I were to do so.

I always think the bottom of a post is more memorable but I suppose that's fair enough

and the line is just about the same size as any other line, so sayeth the font size. Don't hurt its pride like that :c

It's for me because I usually skim the post... it depends. I'm not going to see a singular line that's all on it's own when compared to you know... a large amount of text or a way to have it stick out a lot more. ((perhaps it being even just Bold would've helped since bold says "Hey!!! Reader person! This is important make sure you read!!!))

I'm just strange maybe. i tend to know more of the stuff towards the top because to me, the more important stuff is towards the top rather than the bottom.

Anyway, point is oops? I missed the fact there was a deadline and me being busy kinda pushed it off not knowing. I'd sadly need some time to put something together for this since I can;t exactly asspull a character sheet out of my ass. ((well I probably could... it jsut wouldn't be up to my own quality of standards.))

Name: Null ((True Name, unknown.))

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Generation: 3rd

Power: "Nullcramancy" self named, the ability to control and manipulate the forces of... nothingness. It is a power that works by destroying preconceptions or eliminating rules within the universe as one knows them. For example, one could delete the rules of Gravity from working on them, or another target. One could attack by creating something of nothing. After all, something probably existed there, or memories of the user can be used to create something from nothingness. The user could say delete the distance between him and another person, or delete parts of their memory ((which is very hard on mass scale but can be reasonably done to a single target.)). The complexity of the deletion or event is how much power the user must use to achieve it. After all, making someone forget a single event is easy, but say making them forget their entirety is a lot harder. Also if one for example wanted to delete a person from existence it wouldn't be that simple. As they'd have to destroy not only all of their memories but the ones from others of them and every single thing they did in the world must also be undone. As a result it's pretty much impossible to do something of that magnitude. ((Null isn't a god, therefore she wouldn't have the energy required to do a complete erasure of someone)). Improper usage of this power or... trying to do something one doesn't have the power to can result in loss of pieces of themselves, conceptual or physical.

Sub-powers: Deletion, or the ability to remove things from being true. Negative Energy((Void)) Manipulation, the "magic" of Nullcramancy is fueled by negative forces or the forces that do exist but... do exist. As a result they are pretty much one in the same. Construct Creation. Can create something of nothing ((literal, or figurative.))

Character summary: Null has no known origin as a result of she herself having deleted the memories from her own mind ((whether purposefully or accidentally is unknown.)) therefore she is mostly shrouded in mystery. If those that knew her from her past life saw her... they might not even recognize her anyway. What is known is that Null is a ruthless mercenary and assassin for hire. She doesn't really do it for the money or physical objects though. She mainly does it... for the chance to show the world her art. The Art of nothing. She considers herself firstly an artist, and faaar below that a killer. After all... he doesn't kill them, she just puts them in a state of nothingness. They just no longer exist. No blood or murder is involved. She doesn't really have any particular ties to any sides and will go with whoever pays the most or... lets her do things her way.

Appearance: She stand at about 5'8" with a rather typical athletic build. Nothing overly stands out about her natural appearance however, The rest of her features are cloaked in a dark royal purple cloak of much too elaborate design. She wears an ivory mask in the shape of a smiling face. Her garb is complete with a large matching tophat of the same colour as the rest of his get up. Her raven black hair spills out over her shoulders in a rather haphazard fashion. She wields a Black Revolver by the name of "Void" that can fire what she calls "blanks"... or lapses in reality. It doesn't look like a normal revolver as parts of it seem to phase in and out of existence randomly. Looking at it is a strange experience and almost mesmerizing in a way.

Extra: She did have a life before the beginning of Null, and those people may recognize her but due to the erasure of her own memories in places she won't really remember them. Or at least not completely. This experience could however... reverse the process if it's it's powerful enough. ((perhaps regaining her proper "humanity" in the process.))

Sidenotes are that no... this power will never allow just a 1 hit kill on someone. it's literally impossible as there's no way that much power is obtainable to a mortal. Same goes with things that are like... way to impossible. Duration and magnitude of the power really go to how possible it is to manipulate in that way.

Anyways, I kept it pretty brief because Null is kinda a character I'd rather flesh out moreso in play than a background. She's sorta nebulous... almost more of a Force of Nature than a person ((or at least could easily go that way.)). Hopefully you don't mind the more... sparse sheet though. Null is just.... hard to explain in a character sheet fashion XD. Hopefully I did well enough that it's not like "wow this is bleeeh."
