Reveal hidden contents I would assume it can only poison pokemon based on type, and not on ability, so things like immunity snorlax don't become utterly useless because of this pokemon. Magic bounce I would bet also bounces back the poison, which in this case would be very interesting since salandit itself could get poisoned by its own bounced toxic. Its typing leaves it very weak to a faster excadrill or, well, any ground type, so as long as it has at least base 100 speed it could be seen in UU or who knows maybe OU. I mean, being able to poison things like amoonguss or ferrothorn is incredibly valuable, it puts a pressure on them that very few pokemon can. By its design I think it will be very fragile, so it needs to be very fast to Toxic or Will-o-Wisp something. OR it will get more bulky with the evolutions. All the new abilities (NO, ofc I'm not counting Lunaala's and Solgaleo's) are really cool and bring innovation to the new metagame. They also give unique characteristics to the pokemon, like Comatose shows Komala's sleepy personality etc. All the new exotic pokemon seems to have given the opportunity to Gamefreak to create and give us even more unique typing that we wanted all these years! So far it seems so promising that I've got high hopes fot the new gen. Starting with ones I don't like....Bruxish and Drampa look......bizarre. The new abilities are neat...but I'm not digging the combination of sharp incisors and....glamor. Drampa's design doesn't match it's ability to me...if it's going to be a grandpa dragon, and it's ability is Beserk..it should look Beserk... You can be 100% sure more mega evolutions will be introduced, but since we're just learning about the new pokemon of the region, they are not the main focus. Besides, they need to keep this information hidden for the announcements just before the game release to maximize hype (and sales). It's nice to introduce new abilities, but I'm worried they will overdo it, and generally weak stuff will be forced to never make use of their unique characteristics out of fear of breaking their corresponding tiers. I realized I haven't given my thoughts on these mons in this thread either, so here's where I think they'll stand in the competitive scene as of what we know about them right now. Legendaries not included... yet. Reveal hidden contents Starters: Rowlet likely won't be too great. If it's trying to be bulky, it'll need its hidden ability to be something like thick fat so it can actually live an ice shard from Weavile/Sneasel. If it's going to be offensive, it's going to need something really good like Gale Wings or really anything that could give it sweeping potential, but as it stands right now, with a typing of grass/flying, it's going to be UU at best and NU at worst imo. Litten looks extremely average. Fast, likely to hit decently hard. It'll probably get will-o-wisp too. I'm saying it's going to be much like delphox and it's gonna go RU/UU. Popplio is one i'm not too sure about. On one hand, the seal pokemon have all been bulky so far and all of them have been pretty bad too. People say it might end up water/fairy, but I just call that grass/poison, grass/steel and Water/poison or steel bait. With all these bulky grass types running around in every tier, Popplio better be pretty good if it wants to stand a chance of getting into any high tiers. Rockruff: Average dog mon. Rock isn't a good stand alone type tbh. It's going to end up NU imo. Komala: Oh yeaaaaaa. This thing has a pretty freaking good ability. If it's got an evolution, it's gonna range anywhere from RU to OU with an ability like the one it has, especially if it ends up hella bulky with shit like slack off. Hell, even curse-rest could be viable for it provided it gets curse. Good mon, looking forward to seeing it competitively. Vikavolt: Levitate is an okay ability for it, but it looks like just another average bug. It doesn't even look as fast as galvantula and it doesn't seem like it will get any hazards so I'm gonna call it at RU. Also apparently it can learn zap cannon, but i can't tell if it's trying to be a special attacker, physical attacker or mixed with the way it is. I see potential in this thing, but more likely than not, it's gonna fall flat. Pikipek: After how great Talonflame was, i can only see it setting this bird up for failure. Being a woodpecker, it's going to be fast, but not too strong, kinda like talonflame tbh. Except this thing lacks gale wings and fire moves. Skill link is nice, but what does the bird even get out of Bullet Seed, Rock Blast and Icicle Spear and Tail Slap (2 of which is probably won't get)? I'd say NU tbh. Cutiefly: lmao Yungoos: Stakeout is a pretty darn good ability. I can't see this thing beating too many bulky steel types though. And if its stats are garbage, it won't be able to make use of such a wonderful ability. Not to mention it gets revenge killed by most fighting types super easily it seems. I'll say NU at worst, UU at best (Assuming it evolves of course). Drampa: As much as I want to like this thing, I can't. Dragon/Normal is just a bad typing, the two of which don't even cover for each other and it doesn't look all too fast. Berserk is a nice ability, but it doesn't seem it will do much if Drampa just dies to Chomp, Dragalge, Conk, or any fairy. Please at least have some speed so you can be useful. BL3 at worst, BL2 at best. Togedemaru: If this thing gets hazards, it might just break the trend of all shitty pikachu clones sticking to PU. jk. This thing is BL4 at best. Bruxish: I'm really hoping this isn't another shitty luvdisc. I actually really like its ability, but the fact of the matter is that this thing is just another fish, and standard fish have pretty much never been good, see: Qwilfish, Luvdisc, Lumineon, Basculin. NU at worst, BL2 at best. Salandit: Quote from the official site, "Salandit is not a very powerful Pokémon." "Salandit is not a very powerful Pokémon." RU at best tbh. Corrosion is a nice ability, but it won't be too useful if the thing snaps like a twig. I will admit, it does have some potential, and an evolution could easily bring it to OU, but as it stands, it's going to be paper thin and will likely die to any super effective move in one hit and any neutral move in 2. Again, these aren't final. As more info comes out, this post will be edited with my thoughts on the new pokemon revealed and evolutions if there are any for the ones detailed above. It has a support role with Intimidate and Hazards, so even if it cannot provide much offensively, it can be placed in a team. Not only because wrestling (eeeew, imo...), but implicit fire/fighting, no justification for humanoid-ness in the line's progression whatsoever and horrid wrestling-esque belt of fire thing. If litten really does end like that it will be the first and most likely only disappointment reaction I'll have towards the pokemon franchise for this gen. However, I don't really believe these, as cool as that siren popplio thing looks to me. I had seen these same supposed leaks in know your meme (in the pokemon image gallery) last month and the pics are still there, were never taken down and I suspect they won't. Plus, I have a hard time believing there are no gyms. I find it too risky a move, and GF are generally cowards in innovation within their storytelling.
