Praise The Sun... and Moon - Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon

Because it's a starter that looks overly feminine, but yeah will still be 87.5% male. I don't mind using it so much competitively, but for a playthrough, I just don't see the appeal for me personally.

I guess we have another meganium, and delphox on our hands. with this thing it will form the holy trinity of girly looking starters. they are even fire, water, and grass respectively. what a coincidence

Meganium and Delphox aren't even that bad. This thing straight up looks like a seal combined with a mermaid.

Apparently there is a rumor going around that there are potentially two final evolutions for each starter and some more alolan forms of gen 1 mons

http://pokejungle.net/2016/08/01/chinese-rumor-leaked-starter-evolutions-confirmed-true/

That would be the wildest shit ever. I'd be down as hell for it.

Rowlet -> Looks cool yeah. I expect it to be a fast mixed attacker similar to Greninja, base stat wise.

Litten -> I'm "meh" about the design, but please for the love of god not fire/fighting.

Popplio.....

Keep that shit away from me.

Same.

I think people are being a bit to hasty saying that the trials will replace gyms. Looking at the trailer I think the trials will be tasks that aren't battling followed by a fight with a Totem Pokemon which I don't think will merit a gym battle. I think that there will still be gyms and the e4 and the champion alongside the trials.

Alolan Exeggutor: Heads or tails? More like heads ON tails.

At first I wasn't sure about these Alolan forms, but I think they've already grown on me. Both the Sandshrew and Vulpix lines look cool, and Exeggutor is the newest meme. I might use Alolan Ninetales on my team.

Gumshoos is literally Donald Trump. Except Donald Trump wouldn't like Gumshoos because its pre-evolution was imported to Alola from elsewhere.

Minior's ability seems kind of like Stance Change, except instead of controlling the transformations it depends on its health. Its design reminds me of the spiky enemies from Kirby.

Oricorio is another Pokemon I want on my team. I love all its forms. If Reborn ever does Gen 7, they should give the Electric cheerleader one to Julia.

*insert "Why aren't the mantises Bug type" comment here*

I'm guessing the trial captains and island kahunas will be the 8 gyms, then the island in the middle will contain the E4 and Champion equivalents.

Z-moves look epic. Someone pointed out the Ginyu Force posing, and there's 5 Ginyu Force members... enough for them to be the E4 and Champ!

I think Ame and the developers have talked about applying Gen 7 to the last chapter, but not throwing them all in the post game and, instead, redistributing them to areas that have a lot of repeats. I could see some cool events being added too, like an Oricorio event where some dancer has you choose which one you want to start of with earlier in the game, and adding the flowers that change them to Route 1 or something which you can't access until much later from the point at which you get them. It would make players think for a hot minute about which type to get, but I suppose it would depend on how strong Oricorio turns out to be.

I do agree that the Pom-pom style one NEEDS to be on Julia's team. Maybe her secondary signature next to Electrode. She could pull off doubles really well by having her Pom-Pom Oricorio use Protect while Electrode uses Explosion.

As for Alola forms, There could be some special tourists from Alola that hang out in the Grand Hall and will trade you Alola form Pokemon for the normal forms.

Wouldn't it be more likely that in Reborn City they are provided through some back alley/black market service ala 7th street? A poacher of exotic pokemon or something like that.

Touché ;)

That puzzle in the factory with Abra, Ditto, and the others have a few repeat Pokemon that can be found elsewhere (Jigglypuff/Vanillite/Roggenrola/Makuhita/Loudred) Loudred and Jigglypuff are pretty central to the puzzle, so maybe changing the early acquired Whismur and Igglybuff with other Pokemon (Say Bounsweet for Igglybuff and Komala for Whismur? Will depend on their strength ultimately) Meanwhile, in the puzzle, swap Vanillite for Alola Vulpix and Roggenrola for Rockruff. We don't have any new Fighting types or Alola forms that are fighting, so seeing who could replace Makuhita will be determined later. Since they're all acquired much later, their strength might not matter as much.

I don't want to get this thread any further off track but the problem with using that group of pokemon is that they were stolen from citizens of the reborn region. It wouldn't really make sense for Alola forms to be mixed up with them.

Anyway in order to contribute to the topic of the thread, Lurantis may turn out to be my favourite grass type pokemon of all time. It's a little disappointing, and more nonsensical, that it isn't bug/grass but at least if I did run it I wouldn't double up on bug with Heracross.

The only thing that annoys me with the alola forms (or at least for sandslash/ninetales) is that they can't be used in competitive due to evasion clause, which really annoys me as ice/fairy would be really awesome offensively once you take down steel types.

Welp, maybe they'll have a hidden ability that'll fix that.

Also, who would like the Pokemon World Tournament to come back? I think it would be the best time to bring it back since it's the 20th Anniversary after all, but this time they should include the Elite 4 members and maybe the Captains and Kahunas as well.

1. I never thought of Emboar as a wrestler. I always thought of it as a pig demon. Did some further research and people only pointed out that it looks like it is wearing a wrestling singlet. The rest of emboar's design is Chinese and based off of Sun Wukong and his companion Zhu Bajie. He has nothing to do with wrestling outside of the singlet.

2. Meganium and Delphox are metrosexual. The first weird thing I noticed about the supposed Poppilio evo is how feminine it looks and that is odd. Most starters are metrosexual or borderline masculine. You are supposed to see all the starters as male or female. Which in return makes Litten's final evo look off as well since it is so masculine.

3. Hawluchu is based on two things. A southwestern warrior called the Kachina Dancer, who are warrior bird people who come from the realm of the gods. And of course Mexican Wrestling where there is a lot of emphasis on high flying maneuvers. Hawlucha also takes inspiration from the Santo or Face type of wrestler. Where a fighter emphasizes his technique and physical conditioning, that way they can put on a show and make the audience cheer for them.

4. If Litten's final evo is real, then it is obviously based on the Japanese Wrestler/Anime series Tiger Mask. Tiger Mask also inspired several other anime and game characters with the most popular one being King from Tekken. However Litten may not be based on Tiger Mask himself, but his rival, Black Tiger. While Tiger Mask is a Face/Santo wrestler, Black Tiger was a Heel/Rudo wrestler. This type of wrestler emphasizes brute strength and raw power over technique or wowing the crowd. Heel/Rudo wrestlers are also willing to fight dirty to secure their victory. Which makes the Fire/Dark typing make sense. Though I have no clue where you guys get the fire/dark theory from outside of this.

Edit: The Pokemon also seems to have inspiration from American Professional Wrestling rather than Hawlucha's Mexican Style of Wrestling. The only other Pokemon that takes inspiration from American Pro Wrestling is Machamp, whom is also based on Body Builders and the Asura.

5. Poppilio's evo takes obvious inspiration from a mermaid as well as Sirens and Muses. It may also take inspiration from the Inuit Goddess of the sea, Sedna. Who is a young girl with sea lion fingers. I don't really have much else to say about this Pokemon except that Poppilio is a semi masculine Pokemon that emphasizes physical prowess and we are told to believe that it turns into a magestic singer. Idk if I buy that.

Okay, so I know I'm pretty late to the party, but as soon as I woke up yesterday feeling fresh, and then I see the news. Like, HOOOLY shit, there's a lot of news! Now it's time to soak it all in and digest it slowly.

First, the new Alolan forms. This was something I did NOT expect whatsoever, but seeing now that these were actually part of the Chinese leak, I'm not that surprised as I was before. Honestly, I love these new forms because these are basically Nintendo's way of making Delta Pokemon canon to the games, although they're not really called Delta Pokemon. I don't remember how Delta Pokemon work, but from what I can see about the Alolan Pokemon, it seems like these forms are made from adapting to climate changes, which is pretty cool.

alolanexeggutor.png (Or as I say, COCONUT HEAD) = y3LO4H2W_400x400.png

Let's take a look at this bigass Exeggutor for example. This thing is HUGE! LOOK AT THAT COCONUT HEAD'S NECK! Apparently its long neck and tail was what gave it the Dragon type over Psychic, so now there's two Grass/Dragon types, Mega Sceptile and Alolan Exeggutor respectively. HOWEVER, this is also said to be Exeggutor's true form, as the Alolan natives boast. Honestly, I would have to agree with them on that because the older Pokedex data shows that Exeggutor originated from the TROPICS, not Kanto, or Johto, or anywhere else. And where is Alola located? In the TROPICS! Even the old Pokemon TCG foreshadowed the coming of the mighty bigass, Alolan Exeggutor! What's crazier is that they decided to give it a fourth head! On its neck! Honestly though, I think this Alolan form for Exeggutor is very fitting, because it is... well... THE TROPICS (Sounds like a cool rap album spoof of The Chronic, if I do say so myself).

alolanvulpix.png and alolanninetales.png

Now let's take a look at THESE MAJESTIC BEAUTIFUL KITSUNES. I'm really liking Alolan Vulpix and Alolan Ninetales in general because they actually fit well with Ninetales' mythical background. Seriously, WHERE THE HELL WERE THESE TWO IN POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON 1?! If Ninetales can curse people if they ever pull its tails, then Alolan Ninetales would DESTROY them if they ever pulled ITS tails. Even Alolan Vulpix looks different compared to its regular counterpart rather than just color. Its eyes, its fur style, etc. And these forms changed all because Vulpix and Ninetales migrated to the snowy mountains for whatever reason. Unfortunately, their Ice/Fairy typing makes them very weak to Steel, but if Alolan Ninetales is anything like its counterpart, then I'm sure it can hold its own ground. I think having Fairy as its second type is very fitting for it too because Ninetales is based on the kitsune, which are indeed mythical creatures. Maybe in Sun and Moon, they'll actually give the regular Ninetales Fire/Fairy type like they should have in X and Y, but who knows? I also think that if Nintendo ever made a Pokemon Hyper Mystery Dungeon game or something like that, they should bring back Ninetales but as an Alolan Ninetales, to show that 'awakened' self.

alolansandshrew.png and alolansandslash.png

Now let's take a look at Alolan Sandshrew and Alolan Sandslash. THESE boys aren't playing around, AND they mean business. How they moved from a scorching desert to a cold, harsh mountain and survived is beyond me, but if the Vulpix line can do it, so can they. Compared to their counterparts, Alolan Sandshrew and Alolan Sandslash are slower, but a lot more defensive. However, their Ice/Steel typing makes them very weak to Fire and Fighting types. This means that Blaziken, Infernape, AND Emboar would all curb-stomp them back to the desert they came from. No questions asked.

Now let's take a look at the new Pokemon themselves, shall we?

gumshoos.png

Since Trump has officially become the Republican candidate, it seems like his pet YUNGOOS also got a royal upgrade, and it looks a lot more badass than YUNGOOS. Smarter than its pre-evolution, Gumshoos actually stalks its prey for a few days, learning its exact route. When its prey slips up, THAT'S when it strikes. Trump could learn a thing or two from it. However, as similar as it looks to the Donald, Gumshoos is actually based on detectives, which are sometimes known as "gum shoe." Its politician suit-like torso also resembles a detective's coat, notably trenchcoats. Its hair, despite it resembling Trump's toupee, also resembles a hat that detectives commonly wear. Gumshoos are wise and often have their hands behind their backs because they are thinking. I don't know how small its hands are, but if they were small, we'd probably understand. It is a weasel, after all. Speaking of weasels, one could also see its origins from a mafia perspective. To me, I can also kinda see it resembling a mafia boss or a don (Don Weaso, anybody?) The hair, its regal kind of look, and the way it plans out its moves, etc (Because of this, I'm actually naming mine Don Trump).

mudbray.png

Mudbray, the Donkey Pokemon. A nice pre-evolution for the Draft Horse Mudsdale. The fact that it can lift 50 pounds is pretty impressive, and is fitting for the pre-evolution of something that can wipe out a car with just a single kick. I don't have too much to say about this one, other than the fact that I will be naming it Donkey now.

minior.png

Minior, the Meteor Pokemon. For once, we actually have a space Pokemon that is NOT a Psychic type, but rather a Rock/Flying type. Now honestly, when I first heard that it was Rock/Flying, I thought it was just going to be another fossilized bird (Did not look at the picture whatsoever when I heard about the type). However, when I saw it, I thought "Oh, maybe this could be a good Pokemon for Team Meteor!" Anyways, Minior's ability is kinda like Stance Change, except for the fact that it's irreversible until you revive it. I don't know if it brings its shield back up once you heal it, but seeing the different cores makes me wonder what each core does. Plus, if they all have the same exterior, then it will be pretty hard to get all of the cores. I wouldn't be surprised if we found these in crater-like areas, even if some were Pokemon-made (I'm looking at you, Mudsdale!)

formantis.png and lurantis.png

For once, we actually have mantis Pokemon, Fomantis and Lurantis.... except for the fact that they're not Bug-types. From a glance, it seems like they'll be crappy Pokemon (Especially with an ability like Leaf Guard), but with a move like Solar Blade? Maybe these might be physical attackers, so having Leaf Guard makes quite a bit of sense now. They are nocturnal, which is pretty interesting. Maybe these might end up as version exclusives with a Sun counterpart? These might actually be the Petill and Lilligant of Sun and Moon, because it says that Lurantis is the most gorgeous Grass-type of all. I mean, Lilligant is pretty too, so that might not be entirely true. The Fomantis line might actually be the physical, nocturnal counterpart of the Petill line because of their striking similarities. Plus, they're both Grass-types.

oricorio.pngoricorio3.pngoricorio2.pngoricorio4.png

Oricorio, the Dancing Pokemon. If this Pokemon ever existed back in the old days, both Miror B and Tierno would have one by now. What's surprising is that this Pokemon was actually part of the Chinese leak, making the leak even more credited. What the leak said was that this bird had different forms on each island. What did we get? A bird that has different forms on each island. Oricorio's ability Dancer copies a Pokemon's dancing move, such as Swords Dance, Dragon Dance, Quiver Dance, etc. Depending on its stats, this would make Oricorio a pretty dangerous Pokemon to dance with. This would make it even MORE dangerous if it can actually use the move it was originally going to use after it copies the other Pokemon's dance move. Despite its looks, this Pokemon could actually be pretty good competitively, if it has good stats. In addition, it changes forms by consuming nectar. How this is described could mean different things. We could get something like Flebebe, or something new and get a nectar item or something that actually changes its form.

Now let's look at the new features, such as Island Challenge. This basically replaces the means of Gym Leaders, and kinda confirms MORE of the Chinese leak, ESPECIALLY since Mallow (Who is especially cool in my book because she's named after Mallow from Super Mario RPG, holy shit!) looks EXACTLY like one of the people shown in Panthster's leaked concept art. From what I heard, there are also going to be more than four Island Leaders. Not so sure about the Hukuna's though, since Hala is the only one revealed. But wait! If Gym Leaders are gone, then that means... HMs are also possibly gone. Especially with Poke Ride...

That's right, Poke Ride. Poke Ride was introduced in X and Y, but now it seems like it's taken another level, as we can call upon Pokemon anytime we want. And we don't even catch them. It would be nice to use our own Pokemon though.... But at least riding on a Charizard makes me happy. Maybe Nintendo's paid attention to Cal riding on his Charizard, hmmmm? Maybe Nintendo's paid attention to riding Tauros, HMMMM? Still, this is pretty cool.

Finally, we have Z-moves, which are probably the some of the most badass-looking moves out there. Seriously, Gigavolt Havoc? Bloom Doom? Inferno Overdrive? Hydro Vortex? Plus, we're gonna be getting them for every type, so they'll probably look as badass as these do! It's crazy how we're getting them so early in the game, but at the same time, they act like how the gems did in Black and White to a certain degree. Instead of being just items that are consumed, they make powerful moves that are used only once per battle. I don't remember if it uses up the Z-Crystal completely afterward, but I'm guessing that we'll keep them like how we keep Mega Stones. There's also the note of it having to learn a move of its type. For example, if a Pikachu wanted to learn Bloom Doom for whatever reason, it would have to know Grass Knot. Knowing how there's Cosplay Pikachu, Pikachu might actually be able to learn more Z-Moves thanks to its costumes and their special moves.... making Pikachu more overrated.

I might expand more on the Chinese leak, but that will be for another time. For now though, I think it's pretty clear that the leak is more true than false now that we have information that further connects to it.

For everyone who doesn't know, the next S and M news is coming Friday August 12th.

It was announced in the same paragraph as the news was that the next chunk of news is coming Friday the 12th.

I'm excited but is it just me or are they releasing things way too fast this generation?

HOOOOLD UP. In the Chinese leak, it showed Ash and Pikachu with Mallow, right? And people are speculating that Ash's journey ends in XYZ, right? Well if THESE LEAKS are real.... Then it may not be the end for Ash, unfortunately... Maybe if he DOES win the Kalos League, he STILL goes on a journey to Alola anyways. Who knows?
