POke Shodown team

Teambuilding has always been kinda difficult for me, so I'll probably be no help. But you should know what type of team you'd like to do (Balanced/Stall/Bulky Offense/Hyper Offense) and in what tier.

There's a Victory Road Directory with Guides to Balanced, Stall, and Hyper Offense play styles (as well as VGC), for your information, so I'd recommend looking at that first.

You can always just look at the Smogon RMT section and copy paste one, though!

It appears you went straight to the deep then.

First you need to check some articles and teambuilding videos on YouTube that describe what the goal of each team is.

http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/battling-101-basics-a-new-youtube-webseries.3525783/

The link above goes to smogon's battling 101. I check some of their articles from time to time, even if I think I can teambuild quite efficiently.

Now that the new gen will emerge, you will have the chance to start new along with all of us, but first, check what's going on right now.

The game does not change drastically.

As Chubb said, check the articles posted here or on smogon, to get a better view of what you might not understand.

Then make sure you know the meta and the pokemon in it. Prediction is 50% of teambuilding.

If all that is not enough, try sparring. Battling is the best way to see what you do wrong. Don't be disheartened when you fail. We all do. It's normal.

Learn from your mistakes and try to become better by taking risks. It's not like you lose money or your house, or your life.

If all that is not enough, try contacting one of the people around here who have been playing for some time and are actually good at this.

You may even check the RMT section, take a peek at what's already there, and when you feel ready to post a team you need help with, we will be more than happy to help, and rate in full detail.

Sparring is the best way imo, this way you get to know most of the mons and some possible good sets that you could use

I'd give some more advices, but i suck at both battling and teambuilding, so it's better if i don't say anything lol
