SevenDeadlySins
HeartGold, a remake of one of the most addicting games in the Pokemon series. Every Friday, I'll post a rundown of that weeks events either up to the first Champion battle or the end of May, because I'm leaving for basic training in June (whichever comes first). I'll be posting my current team (sans HM slaves), time played, Leader battles (possible logs on some of the close ones), and any encounters with shiny/ rare Pokemon. Gender: Male Name: Llloyd (congratulations, you know SevenDeadlySins real name!) Starter: Totodile aka Poseidon. The reason I chose Totodile is because of Arcanine. I generally start my Johto games with Cyndaquil, but Arcanine with Flash Fire is the entire reason I went with HG. Current team: Croconaw Lv. 21: Ice Fang, Leer, Water Gun, Bite. Togepi Lv. 1: Charm, Growl, Extrasensory Week's events: Started playing at 2:00 this afternoon, so only 3.25 hours of play. However, on my way to get the egg from Mr. Pokemon, I was able to level Poseidon up to 14 and destroy my rival with a combination of leer and rage, I would have used scratch, but the rival's Chikorita kept using growl, rage let me increase my damage every time he attacked. After that, I leveled up Poseidon some more. Once he got to Lv 19 I headed up Sprout Tower, growing to Lv 20 in the process. Following this, I challenged Faulkner and his his 2 trainer, resulting in a sweep. Upon receiving the egg from Elm's aide, I decided to head back and catch the Pokemon on the previous routes, while waiting on it to hatch. I captured all but Spearow, battling the ones that I already had, one of them was even nice enough to infect Poseidon with Pokerus, who then affected the rest of the Pokemon that I had with it (random fact, eggs also get affected). I deposited all but Poseidon an the egg, and kept walking around to gt it to hatch. Finally it did, resulting in a male Togepi with a Rash nature, hustle, and growl, charm, and extrasensory. The Rash nature I could have lived with, since it raises Sp. Atk, but hustle killed me so I decided to box him. I decided to end the day with Togepi's hatching, and since I'm boxing him, I now need a good flyer. Any ideas for a complete team to go with Arcanine and Croconaw? Feel free to add suggestions. My team is your team. If I decide to use your suggestion, I'll name them after you.
Eternal Edge
Aipom/Ambipom. Great Pokemon overall imo, STAB Normal. Double Hit is freaking amazing. I use him on my run and love him.
anethia
Crobat is not bad either :3. Just takes a while to train. /)
Aero
If I'm not mistaken (haven't played HGSS in forever), you can get Machop. Assuming you can trade, you can get Machop to become a Machamp rather quickly, and it's powerful moves will certainly help you. Not to mention it has quite decent bulk (now I'm sounding like a competitive pokemon player lol), even as a Machop, which will definitely help you against Whitney. Maelstrom
Grab your free evee from bill and based on its stats, try out an eveelution. The one I had was well suited to be the umbreon it is today.
SevenDeadlySins
Edge: Ambipom is great, I've used him competitively with great results, he'll wreck everyone in game. great suggestion Shirinui: Crobat isn't that hard to get, I usually get golbat to evolve at Lv. 26, so I'll probably use him Areo: I plan on trading for the machop in Goldenrod, even if its just for the macho brace. If it has a good nature, I'll use him. I can't trade him to evolve, because I sold my extra DS and SS to pay off a traffic ticket Maelstrom: I'll do that, I'll post its nature and let everyone decide what to evolve it into. Administrators Amethyst Posted March 11, 2012 Administrators Share Posted March 11, 2012 If I recall correctly, you can't get Ambipom in HGSS until post- E4. Until then, it'll just fail to evolve.
Eternal Edge
You'd be wrong, didn't you see how I said I'm using one? >>
Maelstrom
I wish they hadn't make it take forever for meowth to learn payday. I used to roll around and payday things to death with my amulet coin meowth.
SevenDeadlySins
When I first played Ruby, I pretty much trained my only torchic and had 5 zigzagoons with pickup. I've never had as many nuggets as I did in that run.
Maelstrom
Lol, I've been meaning to raise a pokemon that has Pick-up. Can't it pick up rare tm's in addition to gold nuggets and stuff?
Administrators Amethyst Posted March 12, 2012 Administrators Share Posted March 12, 2012 Yeah. At like level.... 70+. >.>
SevenDeadlySins
from level 51-70 it can pick up rest 1% of the time. from 70 to 90 you can pick up focus punch 1% of the time, and 90 to 100 you can pick up earthquake 1% of the time. other than that the rarest thing you can pick up are evo stones. Maelstrom
I think I still need to beat Red on my HGSS. I've done just about everything but beat red and the e4 for a second time and my team is definitely too low for Red just yet.
Aero
Pick-up is actually pretty good, especially in early-game. however its just +50 escape ropes mostly. xd
Maelstrom
Turn those 50 escape ropes into any level of Repel and we'd have ourselves a real winner.
Godot
at level 100 zigzag can pick up Masterballs

SevenDeadlySins
Turn those 50 escape ropes into any level of Repel and we'd have ourselves a real winner. Sell 50 escape ropes, buy repel
Maelstrom
Hmm... there is wisdom to those words. I'd have to notice that I'd accumulated that many. I really need a new converter so I can charge up and play my 3DS.
SevenDeadlySins
Alright, I haven't gotten to play much this week, so I've only just beat Bugsy. I have caught a Zubat, but I haven't started training him, since I'm waiting on the macho brace in order to EV train it. Currently searching for a Growlithe. More next week (It's spring break, so no midterms to study for).
