Cepheus
Ok, so I was away from Monday 18th April until today (25th April), and I have to say, Spain is beautiful country - but I'm a bit torn, in terms of what to think of this 1 week vacation. 1 week isn't necesseralily long, but enough to be relaxing - if the weather and other circumstances are right. Some things went, sadly, a bit wrong - and that's why I'm torn what I should think of this. I'll go into few details for each day, but first my biggest complain: It was off-season - meaning it wasn't really holiday season, which in turn made the Hotels relativeley empty - and with that, there wasn't much happening around the hotel. and worst of all: MOSTLY older people! - I'm talking 50+ years old, yeah the occassional family with their 10 year old kids were there... but really... other than these parents there was no one in between 16-30 years old! (except maybe the younger Hotel Staff) And with this problem, naturally - NO cute/pretty ladies! (don't judge me... I'm a simple, guy, that has been single for too long xD) In response to Red_Chaos reply to my leaving-status (which was: "nooooo! take me with you!"): seeing the conditions there, I really would have loved to - there was a great need for cute and pretty ladies... and Redheads! (yeah - I didn't see a single readhead!) and what else went wrong - let me tell you (warning! WALL OF TEXT): Day 0 - Monday April 18th - Game of "Thrones" Why "Day 0" and Game of "Thrones" - well you'll see... 8:00 - alarm goes off 8:30 - actually getting up 9:00 - getting retting in the bathroom 9:30 - packing my last remaining stuff (mostly hygiene stuff) 9:45 - leaving the house to the bakery that is only 3 minutes away 9:48 - getting breakfast at bakery and getting picked up by my Dad and my brother 9:50 to 11:45 - driving to the airport - ~2 hours of SITTING 11:45 to 13:00 - waiting in the airport for Check in to open... SITTING 13:10 to 14:50 - waiting in the airport for the Plane and boarding... SITTING 15:10 to 17:45 - Inside the Plane flying to destination Airport... SITTING 17:50 to 18:00 - waiting for our luggage and getting on the Hotel-bus 18:00 to 19:00 - Driving in the Hotel-Bus to our Hotel... SITTING 19:00 to 19:10 - Hotel Check in and bringing luggage to our rooms 19:15 to 20:15 - Dinner in the Hotel Dining Hall... of course SITTING 20:20 to 23:30 - Drinking Cocktails at the bar (yay for All Inclusive! - Free Cocktails!) - outside on the terrace and later inside the lobby (with live music by a pianist) - oh yeah SITTING 23:30 to 23:45 - strutting around the Hotels area to see where everything is - then going back to our rooms 23:50 - falling into bed for sleepy-time soooo... nothing much happened - the whole day consisted of sitting in different chairs and eating/drinking... --- Day 1 - Tuesday - 19th April - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? getting up for breakfast at 8am... taking a shower and getting ready etc. and then I looked outside onto my balcony - RAIN! RAIN AND WINDS! yay, a rainstorm on my first day here... anyway getting breakfast, and then to the people who do the tours around the the hotels - so that you see something from the country... We booked a guided tour for the City "Sevillia" for the next day, and the guided "Rock Tour" of Gibraltar for Saturday. The rain subsided after 11am, so we went outside to the small shopping district, which was ~5-10 minute walke from the hotel - nothing really interesting there, just the typical restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, and small clothing shops. We went back to the hotel about an hour later and walked over the beach to our hotel - then it was almost time for lunch already... and it started to rain again. It lasted a long while... so we couldn't really go outside and do vacation stuff. So we went back to our rooms... my brother watched sitcom re-runs on the rooms TV while I had time to read my book, which I've been reading for like 1 1/2 year (but only in waiting rooms at the doctors or car repair shop) and only was halfway thorugh with it... ok it has 667 pages, and every chapter is a completed short story, which makes stops really easy^^ anway... the whole day was rainy and we couldn't do much... --- Day 2 - Wednesday - 20th April - Ouch... my feet... ouch... why doesn't Sevilla have smooth floorings? ouch... As mentioned, we booked a guided tour for Sevillia. We got picked up by the tour bus at 8:00am at the bus-stop near the Hotel - commencing a 2 hour bus trip to the city (with a 20 minute break for bathroom usage) We arrived around 10am at the city and proceeded to walk thorugh it's biggest park (please don't ask for names... I think it was the Park Maria Luisa), and our guide gave a lot of background information about it's history etc. (like all the Orange trees are only DECORATION - because their oranges are bitter...) In one of the fountains were two cute, tiny Ducklings! YAY! DUCKLINGS!!! *quack* *quack* d'aaawwwww... (on of my personal highlights! they were soooo cute) anyway... after the park we arrived at the great Plaza de Espana. DAMN this thing was huge - anyway most of it was historical and I'm not good at remembering anything of it. we returned to our bus, who drove us a bit further into the city (for about 5 minutes) the we got of near the Hotel Alfonso (Seviallas big 5 star hotel) - from where we proceeded to the great Cathedral - there we got a 2 hours of free time to look around, get something to eat and shopping. and in the middle of these two hours, wfter we finished eating - Rain... a huge Rain Storm for like 30 minutes... damn! at this point we've been already walking a lot... and like my title suggests, the walkways were not the smoothest... my feet began to hurt... back to the Cathedral to meet up again and then have the Tour thorugh the Cathedral and Santa Cruz - In the Cathedral again a lot of talking about history and a bit of religion - and something about Christopher Columbus remains that are there in the Cathedral. After all that we got 20 minutes of roaming around the cathedral for Photos OR climbing the bell tower... 70 meters in height. a Ramp that leads all the way up through... I think it 40-something levels. (the actual tower is over 100m) Of course we decided to climb the Tower... I'm not the most athletic person ever... but I would have loved to have stairs instead of the ramps... diagonal walking is... I stop here... anway we got up, took a few nice skyline photos, and went back down... and it began to rain again while we were up there. Feet status hurting. On the way to Santa Cruz the old Jewish District - sooo... I mentioned the walkways weren't the smoothest... Santa Cruz turned it up! Almost every walkway was made with Stones embedded in cement... they were sticking out and stuff! I could feel EVERY! DAMN! STONE! EVERY! DAMN! BUMP! in the walkway... it hurt - a lot! After Santa Cruz - back to the bus and back to the hotel in a 2 hours drive - yay get my feet some rest! Back at the Hotel we had Dinner and let the rest of day pass by with free drinks at the Bar and the Karaoke-Night event (No, I did not sing anything... - but I would have If I could have chosen my own song - and not from that list xD) --- Day 3 - Thursday 21st April - You have betrayed me, my Sun! Finally good weather - after two rainy days - it was still clouded and not as warm as we hoped but it was enough. Sooo after breakfast we went to relax at the pool - and went doing Archery with the Entertainment team member Jibby (a funny, tall, dude from Senegal). Sadly the bow wasn't that great, but hey, it's a hotel you can't expect them to have sport-composite bows or something... so most of the time the arrows didn't have so much power... anways, after Lunch we went back to the pool to relax - I fell asleep for one hour while lying on my stomach, with my face turned left... yeah... not a great idea... after a few round in the pool (which was freeeeeeeeeeezingly cold) it was almost time for Dinner already, so we went back to our rooms to get ready. and then, after a quick shower I looked into the mirror and saw... Batman's TWO-FACE! - no wait it was me... with half my face sunburned! and not only my face, the down side of my arms, and my entire back, and the back of my legs!!! (well... my brother was a Lobster - why not Zoidberg? V°m°V - red everywhere) yeah - with the not so warm temperatures we totally forgot to put on sunscreen... we are idiots... however we didn't feel anything and we proceed to let the rest of the day go by as always - Dinner and then Free Drinks! --- Day 4 - Friday 22nd April - Hellfire and a Flamenco with burning passion! I think you can all guess what I mean with "Hellfire" - anyway - yeah... the Sunburn was bad, REALLY Bad! Every movement I made hurt like a burning hell. no... not only every movement... EVERYTHING! I could bareley walk or go up the stairs due to my burned legs... sitting hurt... leaning back in a chair would put my back on fire... a cold breeze would give me goosebumbs... which in turn would tighten up my skin... which in turn would burn with the intensity of a thousand suns! Because of that there wasn't much to do, but moving as least as possible... oh and Air-Rifle Shooting with Jibby! (I got second with a few lucky shots that grazed the high numbers^^) I tried to swim in the pool too cool down a bit (again it was freeeeezing cold) when I wanted to get out my brother wanted to 'help me out' becuase of the pain of moving... as as soon as I grabbed his hand I remembered that Lion King is his favorite Disney movie and I felt like an idiot (again)... he just held my hand and smiled... and I just said "Oh come on... not now... ... ... just do it already!" - "LONG LIVE THE KING!" - and of course he threw right back into the pool... just like the old days... but this time I had a bad sunburn on my back that hit the freezing water... *ouch* and *brrrrrrrrr*! not much after that because moving hurt... we had Dinner and got a nice spot to view the upcoming Flamenco Show - by a professional Flamenco Team from the Area! (and of course Free Drinks!) Holy Damn! I mean I've seen Flamenco in TV in movies and such... but this live show... just wow! The guy at the guitar - I can't believe that his fingers didn't start bleeding after the first ten minutes... The singing Lady had such a strong voice (well it was spanish so I didn't understand a thing) and she was fast... like a spanish rapper... for flamenco dances... The two Dancers were great and so passionate... I just can't describe it it was sooo good. --- Day 5 - Saturday 23rd April - "Now arriving at 'Watchpoint: Gibraltar'" ... yes, this is a Overwatch reference... I love that game^^ getting up early for breakfast and catch the tour-bus at 7:30am - another 2 hour drive to the destination, this time Great Britain! ... well... part of Great Britain! we had the "Rock Tour" booked - so we got a small bus and a local tour guide that drove us up the Rock and tells us everything about it. There were Monkeys! - The Monkeys were cool! - I jokingly asked him if one of them was named "Winston" - in reference to Overwatch - but he just said that they don't have individual names for the monkeys. however, those monkeys are mischivious - they might steal your stuff so be careful! - and they got Dealer in Gibraltar-City where they get up to 10 Bananas for a good piece device - like Cameras or Smartphones... ... at least that's what he told us with a laugh... We had a really nice view from there - at one point you can see mountains at the horiizon, where one of the is still ins Spain, while the other is already in Africa! Gibraltar has a huge cave system, and the biggest cave has been a bit modified by humans hands, and now serves a concert hall! a Concert Hall... in a cave... in a mountain! That is just pure awesomeness! anyway the tour was only like an hour and then we had 3 hours of free-time to roam Gibraltar city. We ate original british Fish an Chips! (and fooled our friends at home with messages like "hahahaha! I lied! I was in Britain all along! behold the fish and chips!") The sun was getting stronger and we, with our sunburns still hurting with every move, seeked shelter in a small shopping, where we had a look around. There was a small pet-shop! In the windows were cute little puppies and Kittens!!! d'aaaaaaaawwwwwww!!!! Also - due to the Queens 90th birthday they had a really small military parade walking up and down the main street (like 10 people in WW1 uniforms marching up and down with a 'war drummer') regarding the shops there... one Watch and accessory shop after another with the occasional liquor and electronics store. at 15:30 we drove back to the hotel in our bus. just a straight 2 hour drive... time to read my book again (which at this point I was almost done with...) back at 18:30 - we went to our rooms to get ready for Dinner... After Dinner we sat down as usual for free drinks and live music - this time Jazz (although it started a bit later) before the music Jibby, the entertainer-guy came to us and asked where we've been, and so on - he and my Dad somehow got talking about the situation in Germany... he sat down with us and they talked for like 45 minutes about Germany and foreign politics... I'm not going into detail here but it is always funny listening to my dad talking about politics! anways... Free Drinks, Live Music - the usual and bedtime --- Day 6 - Sunday 24th April - "Dawn of the Last Day - 24 hours remain" Oh god... Sunday was boring... it felt like Sunday at home... sadly... the weather was nice, and it was actually warm this time... but our sunburn was just recovering and getting out there getting burned again wasn't the best idea... So we mostly stayed inside... having free drinks... but me and my dad went to hotel Spa for an hour of massage - my brother, although a totaly 'body snob' (athlete - eating healthy and stuff) was like "Hell no! look at my sunburn! they touch me and it'll hurt like hell!" - well it was his loss... I barely had any sunburn-pain during it and it was really nice. This day was the most uneventful... we were on our rooms... me and my brother were watching old-school 90's TV-series like McGyver and Knight Rider! and we already packed our things... and then it was late and for Dinner there was Lobster! (right... I never mentioned that great self-service buffet...mmmmmhhh... the food *drool*) I was like... well in all my 27years I never had Lobster... time to try this expensive, snob-food! I tried it and was surprised... it tasted like... like... NOTHING! - well... ok... a bit 'fishy' but that's it... WHY IS THIS STUFF SO EXPENSIVE - when it tastes like nothing? why would people put on so much money on the table for something that tastes like nothing? - after that I grabbed me some fresh grilled pork - oh my god that was good! So tender and succulent *drool* and with that the last evening of free drinks and live music began... --- Day 7 - Monday 25th / today - Tell the world I'm comming home... Getting up on 5:45 - getting ready - checking the weather in Germany - it's cold... better get our sweatshirts out... 6:00 early breakfast - 6:30 bus to the airport... and... yeah, waiting..., checking in, waiting, boarding the plane, waiting... ... landing... getting luggage... get to the car... driving home... and... yeah... I'm back... Result: a nice sunburned back-side, not much swimming, a lot of free drinks, and I finally completed my book Edited April 25, 2016 by Cepheus
