Buttulon
Alright, I'm reviving this thread as I need some more advice. This time I'm at Aya. My team has significantly improved, but Aya is just sweeping me under the rug. (Yeah, I know theres a thread for gym leader help but... it seems so inactive. I posted there last time too and this just got answers faster). So heres what I've got now: Murkrow: Level 42 No item Super Luck Careful nature -Wing Attack -Feint Attack -Assurance -Brave Bird Magneton: Level 43 No item Sturdy Rash nature -Spark -Flash Cannon -Metal Sound -Discharge Golem: Level 46 (can common candy down) No item Sturdy Relaxed nature -Rock Blast -Rock Smash (Lack of an HM slave) -Earthquake -Stealth Rock Cofagrigus: Level 43 No item Mummy Bashful nature -Shadow Ball -Will-o-Wisp -Ominous Wind -Power Split Lilligant: Level 43 Big Root Leaf Guard Docile nature -Stun Spore -Energy Ball -Synthesis -Giga Drain Infernape: Level 43 No item Blaze Mild nature -Cut -Mach Punch -Flame Wheel -Close Combat So, I plan to put Quiver Dance on my Lilligant when I get access to a move tutor/relearner, and I need to evolve my Murkrow as well. But other than that, I'm really not too sure what to do with it. Thoughts anyone? Edited April 27, 2016 by Buttulon
Ironbound
Needs more Magnezone! Fortunately, your can get magnemite right away at Shade's gym, and it evolves immediately into Magneton, which is good its own right. Find one or breed one with a modest nature and good IVs, and it'll learn it's best moves, Discharge and Flash Cannon, on its own later. For now, you can give it Charge Beam and it'll probably have Mirror Shot and Tri Attack soon enough. You can also make good use of Thunder Wave and Magnet Rise, both of which it learns naturally. It hits very hard with Analytic, too. Magneton is better in every way than Fortress. You may also want to consider getting a Murkrow if the second bit of the Aqua/Magma story is concluded; Honchkrow I'd much better than Noctowl. Make sure you try to get an Adamant or Jolly one. It always in the defeated gang's hideout at night on windy days, and with dinner luck you can find one with Brave Bird as an egg move. Make sure to level up the Murkrow until it learns Sucker Punch first, though, before you evolve it.
YinYang9705
Honchkrow can actually learn Suckerpunch via move relearner, not that helps at this moment in time but that is an option. As for team improvements for Shade i'd recommend either Houndoom or Sharpedo (the rewards for the gang side quest). Buttulon
@Viridescent Yeah, I was thinking about picking up a Swagnemite to replace Forretress. Only reason I have Forretress is because I wanted a steel type to use against Corey. And I'll definitely keep an eye out for a Murkrow. Do you know where I can get a Dusk stone at this point? @YinYang9705 Yeah, I do have that Carvahna lying around I could grind up. Though its gonna be a while before he gets a worthwhile water move. Cyanna Cyril
Switch Golem's ability to Sturdy. You might not realize it, but this will save you countless struggles in the future. Trust me on that. Another thing to note is your pokemon do not have a very strong offensive capability. Outside of Golem and Infernape (and maybe Granbull), there's not too much raw power. Most pokemon on your team are either tanky or bulky. One final thing to point out is movesets. There's very little coverage in terms of super effectiveness. Most of the moves are normal or fighting, and neither of these will help you defeat shade. Basically, I'd recommend just more diversity, possibly adding an electric or flying or psychic pokemon (there are plenty of these around if you look hard enough ;3 )
Buttulon
@Cyanna Cyril Yeah, I actually forgot I have Ability Capsules lying around so I'll change my Golem's ability. And I do plan to replace Granbull as soon as I find something worthwhile.
laggless01
Please catch a Bold/Relaxed Yamask, that thing is going to save you in a future fight (plus it's incredible). Will-O-Wisp, Power Split and Curse combined can take down one incredibly strong physical attacker if it threatens you one-for-one, but for more overworld usage there are some better moves (always keep Will-o, though).Prankster Murkrow with Perish Song can be handy at times, too.You should look for some more offensive capabilities, though. Options are Roserade (moveset hard to get right, but powerful if so...very early Budew event), Mamoswine (you can catch Swinub in the icy cave at the gym), Sucker Punch Honchcrow (+Moxie, really hurts), Diggersby (Bunnelby wild at cemetary), Manectric (Elektrike event at 1st gym)...and I might have missed some others. Yeah, I did catch a Yamask, though I didn't look at the nature. I considered Cofagrigus for my team, and it might still make it onto my team once I'm done training this Murkrow and a Magneton. Thanks for the tips.
RainbowHugs
Get rid of Luminion and also Fortress, at least for now, if available get a Lilligant or Quagsire, if you do, your set
Buttulon
Get rid of Luminion and also Fortress, at least for now, if available get a Lilligant or Quagsire, if you do, your set I don't think I can get a Quagsire yet, but I do have a Petilil. However, I don't believe I have access to a Sun Stone yet, unless I've missed one somewhere.EDIT: Still looking for recommendations/thoughts!
