[Revoked] New Standard Weekly Protocol

JERICHO EDIT WEEK 3:

This will no longer be valid. Competitors who bring an invalid team will now forfeit the match. We strongly encourage you even if you are an excellent teambuilder or battler to share your team with your nation and have others look over it to make sure it fits the challenge. We apologize for changing things once again, but last week proved to us that this was not a good method. Please refrain from any "I told you so's". You no longer need to submit teams, but if your team you bring to battle is not fitting to the weekly rules, then you will be given the loss.

Many members have voiced concerns to their committee members regarding what happens when someone brings the wrong team to a PokeNations battle. As a committee, we had collectively decided that allowing the match to restart was the best course of action for this occurrence. However, we cannot ignore the fear that people have brought forth, in that starting the battle with an incorrect team could just be a tactic to scout the team they're facing against in order to gain a better advantage.

In order to ensure that this competition is as fair as possible to all participants, the members of the committee have discussed and come up with the following solution:

Every week, each battler must submit a copy of his/her/xyr team as a pastebin link to their Nation's respective committee member, or another committee member if yours is not on. In the event that a wrong team is brought to a battle, the battle will restart immediately and both teams will be carefully checked against the pastebin version, to ensure that nothing has been changed to gain an unfair advantage.

This new policy will go into effect immediately, starting with Week 2 of PokeNations. We hope that this will assuage some of your worries and bring the focus back to having a fun, friendly community competition.

Best of luck to those of you who have yet to battle this week, and good luck to all participants in the upcoming weeks!

Question: when do we have to submit the paste bin of the team to our committee member? because there are some people who might be redoing and changing their team after practicing throughout the week like I did this week.

You must have your team submitted before you face your opponent for the week. As a reminder, you may give the pastebin links to Jericho, myself, Hukuna, FraRPetO, Pyrrhon, or NickCrash.

No it's only an issue should there be a need to restart. People might be changing their team after seeing the opponents team, having intentionally brought an invalid pokemon on their team to force that restart.

Probably because most of the time when rules are broken it's an honest mistake, not an attempt at cheating. Slapping down a loss penalty on someone who wasn't trying to cheat the system, and has taken lengths to prepare for the challenge isn't the way to handle this. They at least deserve a shot in my opinion.

It isn't that hard to read the rules( a good skill to have outside of pokemon as well). I understand that people may make honest mistakes but that should not be a reason to create more of a hassle for the rest of us.

I understand that in other tours that you don't get a second chance, but I'd like to think that this is more for the fun of the users and it would draw away from that fun for so many people if an honest mistake leads to a disqualification. This was the compromise I made.

If a rule is broken, why-not just give the win to the other person? That will teach people to actually read the rules when they make their teams.

Believe me, we tried to get them to do that. This compromise was as far as they'd go. I agree with both of your posts 100%.

Like Mike said, because this is a friendly competition, in addition to the timeless adage "shit happens", we've come up with this compromise as a way to ensure fairness but at the same time keep the light atmosphere that we anticipated this event having.

As far as I'm aware, Season 1 and Season 2 are separate entities so that really isn't relevant.

I'm glad to see this though. There was a lot of confusion with the rules for the first week already and I think this is an excellent solution to prevent a lack of battling integrity. Good job guys.

You've completely and utterly missed the point.

And once again things go overboard...

Let's keep things relevant to the point and try to remain respectful of others. The point of this thread is not to mock, but to discuss the new rule set in place indicated by the original post.

Do you even still play this game enough to know what you're even talking about? lol

Maybe you should take some time to think about what a silly statement that was.

Jericho - I tried. ^^
