the only thing that exists at first sight is lust. that said, as you allude to, i usually don't even get that far without knowing someone first.

• I played 4 and it was okay?? but never really got into it. idk i was probably like 12 at the time, i dont remember much about it.
  • But um, since then I've come to really really dislike zombies so I haven't kept any interest in the series. I'm not even aware of the new direction.

• I can see what you mean, but I don't think it's pessimistic. To me, love is more like an emotional closeness based on trust, openness, respect... that sort of thing. How can you trust someone at first sight? And maybe others can be open with people they first meet, and I envy that sort of person, but I sure can't. So "love at first sight" just doesn't make sense to me at all.
  • Now for the part that is pesimistic. In terms of propinquity, which is a neat concept I'd forgotten, I really don't even trust my own judgment with people anymore. So all of that for me personally is just kind of a null grey zone right now.
• I mean I think we've all had negative relationship experiences. But, it's more like my entire relationship history as a whole has been a mess. Certain people who know me better can attest to the fact that it is one kerfluffle after another. So that hasn't helped.
  • I'm concerned that a lot of people who read this and have been around for a minute are going to jump to conclusions about a certain other person here who it's known I've recently broken up with, and what I'm referring to. However, to be honest, that relationship was probably still the best I've had even given how it ended. Maybe that's fairly telling in itself though.
• Not for a second. I have few regrets when in life, and especially not when it comes to this place.

  • Most of the dialogue is probably just written for the game by me since even if the events are borrowed from the league there is -no- way I'm going to remember the exact phrasing of anything beyond a leader's battle quotes, or their most popular ones. Of course, I will continue to try and write in the characters' voices.

• I don't read as much as I would like, not nearly. In fact it's pretty scarce. But I am a sucker for Victorian literature, be that written in that time period, or about it.
• Obviously. I wish for 11:11 as often as I can too. Can't pass up opportunities like these.
• Higurashi is one of the few shows I really like in which I don't have a clear favorite. But I think if I had to pick one, it would be Takano. I know that is the objectively wrong answer for so many reasons, but I kind of have this thought like, I hope I can be as cool as her when I grow up. Also I really like the way she talks (in Japanese, i haven't heard English). When I get comfortable enough with the language that I can start practicing a natural-sounding accent, I think I'll probably make an effort base it off of her speech.
  • Rika's cool too, don't get me wrong. But in terms of favoritism, Shion, Rena and Hanyuu would all still be above her for me.
• Autumn.
• his? he? terra is definitely a girl in most timelines... anyway.
  • It's not ideal for the tension arc, and she's not the sort of character I would normally write. But it's gotta be based on the league, so, if somewhere had to be lighthearted, the circus seems like the place it would be. If this were written from the ground up, she probably wouldn't exist.
  • I will say I appreciate finally being able to actualize the deal with her being a shady sort of hacker though. That was something I'd had planned since wayyyy back in Season 1, it just never came up. Similar to Cal's hair being naturally blue, in fact.

• I.. hit a parked car when I was learning how to drive... shut up.
• No, but it should probably be illegal for me to drive anything that could hit one.

I think we talk a bit less now, so it's a little more distant? And I've changed a lot so we're probably not as similar as back then.

But the general theme aside from those isn't much different.

However, I will rescind what I said about playing games with people before. As much as I love games, I can no longer accept them as anything that might remotely resemble healthy interpersonal behavior. So, it probably wasn't an ideal practice back then either. I'm inclined to apologize for it, but I won't.

It's also funny to me how I said that you might actually need to do something like that for someone one day, when it turns out you already had even if I was denying it.

• Aha, but there's no point in specifying "vegetarian dishes" for me, as if I eat anything else.
  • French onion soup (though one does have to be careful since it is often made with beef broth)
  • Curry rice (tofu instead of meat)
  • Grilled artichoke
  • French dip (I make it with vegetarian lunch meat and of course a non-meat gravy)
  • Spicy ramen (actual ramen; not the instant stuff, also have to be careful since most dashi includes bonito flakes. miso base is frequently safer than shoyu but i prefer a vegetarian shoyu (which is usually what I make for myself))

• You mean like the fusion generator, or manually making the edits? I played with the generator a little bit and it was kind of silly. I haven't done any manual fusions. It can be neat but it doesn't interest me enough to do much with it.
• Most of them were idea'd (i can't verb right now) and drawn by members. The credit goes to you guys! (or more specifically the shiny spriters listed in the Readme). For the ones I did, it was just a matter of what I thought would be cool, extravagant, pretty, or what I thought fans of that Pokemon would like.

• Someone asked something like that before and goodness it's hard to remember.... Oh. No, I know what.
  • At the start of the gator wars, there was a cache problem on the site which resulted in some members' pages being shown by our host to other users instead of the actual page. So like, someone would view a topic as themselves, and then everyone else after that that viewed that topic would see it as if they were logged in as the user that first viewed the page.
  • It took us a while to first figure this out, and certain users got stuck in popular pages. I was around when it started and people were reporting it, and telling me how they were turning into other users and nothing was working right and blahblah
  • anyway there was one point where I legitimately had to ask the server, "okay can anyone else become tacos by clicking on their fezzdog?" (of course everyone could). It doesn't sound like much in retrospect but I found it pretty hillarious among the confusion, not to mention the rest of the silly mess that ensued from that incident before the site started going down outright.
• Drama keeps it interesting. ^~^ Besides, if there wasn't so much drama, we wouldn't have much of a game now, would we?
• Nope.
  • Though if I seem less active than I used to be it's for a few reasons:
    • I don't have to force activity in order to keep the site alive at all
    • I have always preferred (being a part of) small communities rather than large ones. If I did not own this community, I probably would have moved on by now. Fortunately, I do own this place, and I have no intention of ever leaving it behind. Anyway, it's less cozy for me in a large place like this. Still worth.
    • I don't spend as much time here because I have to budget my time better than I chose to in the past.
• I don't like that word tbh, "pastime". It makes it feel like the point is to kill time rather than to enjoy whatever one is doing.
  • Anyway, making games. duh. Though I can only do that for so long before I sort of exhaust my energy for it, I still enjoy that best in-the-moment.
• Dangan Ronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. I started it when it came out but just finished it last week after not speaking to the game for almost a year because of some rather gross stuff in it.

• I really want to like Phoenix Wright. It's a neat concept. I've tried to like it several times. But the series just never manages to keep my interest.
  • especially after playing the similar-but-objectively-superior Dangan Ronpa main series games.
• The ending of the series (not counting the OVA) was a little ??????? but okay. Episode 13 was sort of repulsive. Despite those things I really love it and Yuno is one of my favorite characters in anything ever.
• I played a little of a very early version, and I played a little more of it when I wasn't able to use my hands, so I was controlling the game via voice input... made for an iffy experience on both accounts. Having not given it a proper run through I don't wish to comment on it, however the differences apparent between the two versions I saw were quite impressive growth.
• The world is just based off of the map I drew. The story and characters are just based off the league. That doesn't leave a whole lot left. Though I will say the many of the puzzles are probably heavily inspired by Golden Sun, which I consider the holy grail of RPG puzzles.

• A number of years ago I had an encounter with a rain spirit during a fierce storm. Though others will probably be skeptical of it, I could hear and feel her sorrow, and it affected me greatly. I wanted to reach back out to her, so I began talking to the rain and for a time, considered that spirit my best friend. So, rain became something that was very relaxing for me. I still always open my windows or step outside to say hi. Anyway, after a while because of that and because of the similarity to my name, I just started going by it. It fit.
  • As a side note, this is not dissimilar to a story Amaria used to tell about her experience with an ocean spirit that saved her from drowning. In the game, this spirit was replaced with her Lapras, Deliverance. However as far as the real Amaria was concerned, our mutual experiences with these spirits were something that lead us become closer friends.
• I will not forgive you for before. There is nothing to forgive. You did nothing wrong, and my salt is at the fact that an accidental similarity like that exists, not at you for pointing it out (lord knows you're far from the only one anyway.) • sure no problem dude. and i'd ask him if there was anyone he'd want me to pass on a message to.

No. A brainless human would have to be something that is genetically engineered based on the human blueprint. Here is the first problem with that model: Human growth as we know it depends at almost all stages upon hormones regulated by the brain. Therefore, no brain = no growth. A machine could perhaps be built to produce and supply hormones in equal measure, and it's true that it's unlikely a machine is going to feel anything. However, being that it's then acting as a substitute for a human brain, we start to get into a sort of Ship of Theseus problem.

How many, or what parts of a human can you mechanize before they are no longer a human?

I'd rather not go down that road personally. I think even a brainless human is still very different from a plant. Unlike my grandmother I do not believe plants have feelings nor so much as the potential for self-awareness. On the other hand, a human with no brain still has very much the same spirit as a human with one even if it happens to lack the sensory or processing components.
