Squad Advice

Hello. This is my current roster, althought at the moment I will level up both Braixen and Espurr to about 25 level before leveling any other pokemons. My question is, would you suggest any good pokemons stat wise to catch and train. I just recently completed first gym, so I'm not very far ahead. I'm not planning to level-up/use Noibat and Panpour, but if they are good options I will do it.

And are there any legendaries in-game, should I worry about them at all yet? Also I would like obviously different types of pokemon types with relatively good stats. There are bunch of new Pokemon so I'm kinda noob, but I've played older versions alot.

Help appreciated, thanks.

Hi !

There are no legendarie available yet, and they won't be before post E4, most probably.

Here are some pieces of advice:

- Forget Noibat for the moment, he is useless until he can evolve.

- You can buy a Shinx with casino coins in the game corner, take some times to earn them but I think it is worth.

- You have 2 psychic pokemon, a fighting type could cover your weakness to dark move, I'll personally go for Pancham.

You have this topic to see availability and locations of pokemon: http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16407&page=1

Kricketune with its Fury Cutter will be useful for the next few fights, including the second gym. You can find a Kricketot in one of the apartments northwest-ish of Peridot's Pokecenter, near the entrance to the Underground Railnet.

It might also be worth it to invest in a Fighting-type like Makuhita, Pancham, or Mankey, which can all be found in the Obsidia Slums. (Trust me, when you'll get to the second gym you'll be thankful for a Fighting-type.) Since it evolves the soonest and gets Belly Drum around that time, Makuhita might be your best bet.

And as Razkar said, you may as well put Noibat on hold for a while -- he won't be evolving for a looooong time and he's essentially dead weight until then.

Oh damn I was so sure Fire starter couldn't be also psychic pokemon at final evolution, haha wow, didn't even notice. :D

Thanks, I think I'll get two new pokemons as Shinx and Makuhita, putting Noibat and Panpour completely away. I got them randomly and just kept them as fail-safe. :)

I should also invest some time to invest these all new pokemons but kinda lazy, I think theres so much work to do and as it seems there are mix of all new generations and I only played till Gen 3, very little 4 so its like latin... but just also got Rattatta for hm moves. :D

Thanks alot! :)

After you beat Florinia, you'll have access to the policeman side quest, which will give you a growlithe. Arcanine puts in work in several fights.

I'd recommend saving and resetting until you get a female, then breed it once to get an egg to trade for the mystery egg.

On Opal Bridge near the Grand Hall there's a pretty obvious event with 2-3 trainers surrounding a Pokemon. I'm guessing this event is where you got Panpour, as he's one of the two Pokemon you can find from there. The other one is very valuable at this stage of the game, Pachirisu. If you didn't get him from the Bridge, he's in one of the homes in the Peridot Ward (sadly I don't recall which one, but you'll want to explore all of them anyway). Save just before you get him and reset your game until you get a Pachirisu with Volt Absorb; this makes him totally immune to Electric type attacks, something you otherwise won't see for a while due to a scarcity of ground types. He also learns the move Nuzzle, a low-damage attack that paralyzes the enemy, which will greatly help out with some fights. He doesn't stay very good for too long, because he doesn't have a lot of great moves or stats, but by the time he starts to slow down you'll have access to a wider variety of Pokemon for your team.

I'd recommend catching a Bidoof around the Grand Hall ((make sure it doesn't have the Moody ability, which activates after each of it's turns)) as well as a Poison Type from one of the Alleyways. And for Fighting Types, I'd say Makuhita. It's bulky, and can take/deal plenty of damage. Also, after a certain point, you can find a Numel in at the Train Station when it's raining.

I MUCH prefer to get a Bidoof WITH Moody, because as unpredictable as it is it can be a major cheese for difficult fights. 6x Evasion means you probably win.

Why getting Bidoof? I would not expand current roster with 4 pokemons, as started previously and maybe taking Budeew by side. Still trying to catch & find Shinx and Makuhita, haven't played alot lately, but gonna start grinding soon. :)

Edit:How rare Makuhita is? Been running in Obsidia ward where Makuhita should spawn for almost an hour

I cannot agree with the Makuhita advice enough. Hariyama puts in the finest of work during the midgame, with the combination of Close Combat, Knock Off, and Fake out(MAKE SURE YOU AREN'T SHEER FORCE OR FAKE OUT IS USELESS). If you can help it, get your Makuhita/Hariyama Thick Fat! So useful. Also, if you ever nab Ducklett(I forget where it is now in Ep 15), Swanna can do some good work if you have an open slot. It's not great, but if you bring it into the late game it's quite strong with Hurricane, and has some good utility in Tailwind and the like. Arcanine is also fantastic, just make sure you get the moves you want before evolving Growlithe.

As for one final point, given that your Espurr is Male, if it doesn't have Own Tempo(the HA tha tturns into Prankster upon evolution), ditch it quickly. Female Meowstic is a powerhouse early-midgame, but without all the useful status moves, Male Meowstic is kind of trash IMO.

Well now I've started over and picked starter as Torchic, final form Blaziken, highest offence stats and fire/fighting which should carry me easily at the start of the game, gonna take as friend here Shinx as I get to Casino, and now taking Espurr as a back-up friend till higher levels to have higher variety to choose from what to catch.

Made new account and new save lol. :P Silly mistakes at start..

Edit: I would add Kricketune here but I think I'm fine without it? Is it any useful later on?

Kricketune will only be good in the early games mate,if you are after bugs ,get a Yanmega.

Torchic is a good choice.

Best of Luck.

Is Budew any good? I've leveled Torchic pretty high and it didn't obey for whole first gym... Espurr is kinda meh, dies alot, but Budew has pretty good moves with Paralyzing and Poisoning I think it would be great help generally and against tough opponents.

Edit: Can you evolve Budew to its final form, first by friendship and then by stone? Final form Roselia

Roserade is agood pokemon and yes, it can be evolved.Try evolving Espurr and catch something else, like a Trubbish or a Gulpin.

Tynamo and Numel are also available.Don't level up Blaziken until you have acess to common candies.

Edit : Always catch every pokemon you encounter and try to have a full team, this will help in gym battles.
