it did. Back then, we were able to get to like 2000 something. I'm probably forgetting something else but yeah, there wasn't much resets going on at all back then which made checkpoints too good.

Yeah, checkpoints are sort of counterproductive. They worked well on the pokedex one because there were intervals of about 150 or so that they needed to complete, 6 times. Here, it would be like intervals of 10, 10 times, leaving mods with only one chance a checkpoint to send them back.
