Pocky
not a problem any more my man!So this month's OMoTM is Nature Swap! Basically, it swaps 2 stats with each other depending on whatever nature you pick, and the nature that is boosted stays, and vice versa. If it still confuses you, find more information in the universal smogon thread for it:http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/nature-swap-omotm-august-suspecting-chansey.3577739/This thread will serve as discussion for this meta game, and interesting sets you've come up with, of course. I'll start: Scizor @ Choice Specs Ability: Technician EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD Modest Nature IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpD - Vacuum Wave - Hidden Power [steel] - Silver Wind - Ominous WindWith this metagame, it actually makes special scizor an unexpected but viable choice. Vacuum Wave lets it outspeed Cloyster, one of the scariest shell-smashers in the game, and deal with other fast threats, all while having the technician and high special stats to back it up. Hidden power steel unfortunately has to be used to benefit from stab technician. Silver wind for stab and ominious wind for filler, though you can put anything there tbhShuckle @ Custap Berry Ability: Sturdy EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD Lonely Nature - Earthquake - Knock Off - Rock Blast - Bug Bite Here's something they might not expect. While people might see shuckle as a suicide lead, this little dude can also run this set. With a whopping 614 atk when maxed, nearly nothing will survive this dude. The custap also lets him take one more dude with him before he goes down. Rock blast over rock slide due to how sturdy users can all run suicide leads in this metagame now. I've never written any of this shit so im running out of things to say helpRegigigas @ Leftovers Ability: Slow Start EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - [Filler] - Nature Power - Earth Power - ThunderboltSo here's a cool one. Basically, no one runs terrain moves, and the battle is technically on no terrain, so regigigas gets to use nature power which equals tri attack everytime! Slow start only affects the attack and speed of regigigas, so it gets to use all of its massive 160 base sp atk. Earth power and thunderbolt are coverage moves obviously. You can put any move in filler honestly. Thunder wave could be great for crippling pokemon before striking them down with your massive damage. Substitute could also be useful. Really up to you sorry im really bad at typing these descriptions, so i hope you're getting my point im trying to get across! anyway, thanks! InnocentSerenity
Some sets I came up with. Need a bit of work, but I personally really want to see if I can make it work. Slaking @ Leftovers Ability: Truant EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD Calm Nature - Rest - Return- Toxic - Sleep Talk I saw Slaking's 160 Attack and thought "Hey, what if I put that into its defensive stats instead?" With this, Slaking has 150 Base HP, 100 Base Defense, and 160 Base Special Defense. I felt with stats as high as those, maybe it can find use as a wall. Worth mentioning, since Rest + Sleep Talk + Traunt might be confusing, this is how the turns would go. Turn 1: Rest, Turn 2: Truant activates, Turn 3: Sleep Talk, Turn 4: Wakes up, and can act, I believe. Ninjask @ Focus Sash Ability: Speed Boost EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Brave Nature - X-Scissor - Aerial Ace - Night Slash - Protect Ninjask has 160 Speed, which is nice, but kind of doesn't really give it much need for Speed Boost, I feel. So, I decided to switch its Attack and Speed, giving it 160 Attack and 90 Speed. Otherwise, the set is a pretty normal one, nothing too interesting. IntSys
Carracosta @ Lum Berry Ability: Sturdy EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Hasty Nature - Waterfall - Shell Smash - Aqua Jet - Rock Slide / Knock Off / Earthquake Do you like Shell Smash? Do you hate Cloyster? If the answers are YES, then this Carracosta is for you! Hasty gives Carracosta a monstrous 133 base speed. Although it loses its Defense in return, that's pointless with Sturdy active.Sturdy allows Carracosta to always get Shell Smash started. Waterfall is your main STAB move, and is preferred over Aqua Tail to avoid getting a stray miss ending your sweep. Aqua Jet is required to beat out priority moves (Especially Sucker Punch) and sometimes 1v1 scenarios with Sturdy leads. The last slot depends on what else you want to check, really. It's also required for Carracosta to not get walled by Water-types or Water Absorb Pokemon. Rock Slide is a secondary STAB that is, although unreliable, comes with a lot of neutral coverage. Knock Off can be used to achieve similar effects as Rock Slide. While weaker power-wise overall, it can remove items and hit Psychic tanks hard. Earthquake can be used to check Steel-types instead. Linoone @ Sitrus Berry Ability: Pickup EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Brave Nature - Extreme Speed - Belly Drum - Shadow Claw - Seed Bomb The mighty E-Killer Linoone, with a solid 100 Attack stat to work with Belly Drum! Speed is sacrificed due to the lower demand of it. The set is quite self-explanatory, really. Use it to clean up the late game when Steel tanks and Unaware Clefable are gone. Garchomp-Mega (M) @ Garchompite Ability: Sand Force EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Earthquake - Dragon Claw - Swords Dance - Fire Fang Because who doesn't want M-Garchomp with 120 base speed right? Ojama Yellow
Feather of Doom (Honchkrow) (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Moxie EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Sucker Punch - Superpower - Pursuit - Brave Bird this guy. this fucking guy. on paper he probably doesnt sound all that terrifying, but in this tier way too many things sacrifice their defensive stats to gain speed. something a moxie honchkrow really likes. decided to strengthen his speed stat so that he can outspeed some things, and its not like special attack was useful anyway. sucker punch is a no-brainer and hits like a goddamn truck. superpower because pokemon like ferro and chansey/blissey still exist. pursuit can be a surprise move and net a kill, and let that kill be exactly what feather of doom needs to sweep. brave bird...is brave bird, yeah. Pocky
Cacturne gets a lot more fun to play with in Nature Swap. It now doesn't have to worry about its defenses because it's a fast cactus now. Cacturne @ Choice Band Ability: Water Absorb EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Foul Play - Seed Bomb - Sucker Punch - Drain PunchIn a metagame of speed, cacturne might seem slow, but he actually fares well in this furious fight. Water Absorb allows easy switch ins on water types. Foul Play is to punish people who decided to swap their defense with their attack, and for just normal stab, while sucker punch is to outspeed those threatening fast foes. Seed bomb is for STAB and b i g d a m a g e. Finally, drain punch is what i like, but you can replace it with anything you like.Cacturne @ Life Orb/Leftovers Ability: Water Absorb EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Substitute - Focus Punch - Seed Bomb - Sucker Punch/Foul Play I actually met this set while laddering, and it can be rather effective due to Cacturne's newfound speed. Life Orb for more damage, but leftovers if you want to play more on the safe side. Sub-punch explains itself due to your good speed, and Seed Bomb for stab. You can choose sucker punch if you want priority, or foul play for more damage. You can also run a version with more bulk, swapping your sp. atk with your def or sp def to be able to take a hit in order to set up and get a focus punch in. Cacturne @ Focus Sash Ability: Water Absorb EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Nasty Plot - Dark Pulse - Energy Ball/Giga Drain - Hidden Power (Anything you really want, honestly. I'm bad at deciding on hidden powers)I haven't tested this set yet, unfortunately, but it seems pretty cool. Since Cacturne has 115 sp atk too, why not utilize that too? Focus Sash is to survive and set up your nasty plot. Dark Pulse and Energy ball for that sweet sweet stab. Though, if you want to play on the safe side, you can take giga drain and get some health back. Hidden power is honestly up to you. Hidden Power Ice can hit things like Mega-Garchomp, and Hidden Power Fighting can hit the Regis. Really what your team needs. i think im getting better at typing these things. thanks for reading! remember, these are example sets! do whatever you please if you want to adjust any of these.
