Raindrop Valkyrie
"Na, I want you to speak your mind, to feel free to do so. I'm not going to force you to tell me of course, but, if there's something on your mind I want you to feel able to trust me with it." Meredith really did mean that. She wanted those of her unit to feel like they could tell her anything, and confide in her if need be. It was the least she could do for those crazy enough to join up with her and her little band of misfits. "Nothing you say would be silly to me. After all, look who you're talkin' to. A Former Dragao legend, now running a group of misfits against the tyrant she once served." Meredith giggled to herself, her life really was quite absurd when you stopped to look at it. Chevaleresse
"Um, I was thinking, maybe, uh. . . I could never really use a sword, because I always got too nervous and couldn't imagine actually hitting anyone with it in a real battle, but m-maybe you could. . . t-teach me how to fight with a spear? I wouldn't feel so useless if I could protect myself up close. . ." The archer flushed with preemptive embarrassment, not wanting to look at the woman she was asking for help from. Raindrop Valkyrie
"HAHA! So one does recognize the superior weapon! Validated!" Meredith on the ground fist pumped the air above her head in celebration. Show all those sword users... BAH! "*ahem* excuse me got a little excited there. But, of course. Just know that the spear is a weapon of passion! Anyone can wield it but not everyone can wield it, if you catch my drift. But, I'd be happy to Hot Shot. I suppose, in a way the Spear is much like the bow, it pierces, it is the force pushed through a point. However, it's more manual, than a bow. The Bow, does take strength to sue but the bow projects that. I suppose, it makes sense that it'd more translate towards a spear than the sword for you. Besides, swords are for overly fancy blowhards that have too much time to be flashy. The Spear is Practical!" Meredith flexed her arm placing her other hand on her bicep. Not that she could feel it through her armour, it was mostly to complete the pose. "I'm not an easy teacher though, I was taught by the best. And he was no slouch either! You'd be learning from the best of the best! I'm sure you can handle it though." "I'll be honest Hot Shot. I see in you what my mentor saw in me. I can see that fire in you. That spirit. I know seeing you what he felt seeing me now. I understand how old man Gerson felt back all those years. I'd would be honored to teach you the ways of the spear." Stalkerkain
"Ah- ahchoo!!" Rosalvya raised her arm up to cover her sneeze, and then wrapped her arms around her body to keep warm. Perhaps there was someone talking about her in the camp. "Pardon me. Perhaps I am beginning to catch a cold. Could we move our conversation closer to the fire, Serene? I think that would be preferably for the both of us." She made a gesturing motion towards the campfire, where Feri seemed to have finished cooking supper. A pleasant aroma drifted through the air, as one could not help but be drawn towards it. "It seems like Feri has made some delicious stew," she noted. "Have you ever been to Caelum, Serene? It would seem like you would be just at home there."
Chevaleresse
Hoshiko nodded fervently, twintails bobbing. "Thank you. I'll do my best to be a good student. After all, a true hero works hard to become and stay the strongest!" She struck one of her dramatic poses, looking down at the ground with one foot forward and the opposite hand stuck high into the air, fingers splayed out as if she was holding up the sky. It did look rather odd with the bowl of stew cradled in her other arm. She dropped out of it after a moment to ask a question. "So when do we start?" Code: PIRULUK
During the lull in the conversation, she noticed Hoshiko sitting by Meredith, looking glum. The girl was too young to be on the battlefield, in her opinion, but that was the way of the world. The girl seemed to be a believer as well, so seeing her being downtrodden pulled at Serene's heartstrings. Hoshiko looked so... depressed. Like herself, so long ago, before she learned of fire. Her posture reeked of insecurity. Feeling sorry for the girl, Serene casually placed one hand behind her back and wordlessly moved her fingers, such that Rosalyva and Radburn would not notice. She preferred to keep her level of skill hidden for a while, at least from these two. Meredith was the commander and had the right to know, Hoshiko likely wouldn't tell anyone. As she arranged the spell in her mind, she noticed that Hoshiko had cheered up a little. Still, it would have been a bit of a waste to let her work go unused, so she cast the spell anyway. As she kept her eyes level with Radburn's and Rosalyva's, a fireball appeared in the air in front of Meredith and Hoshiko. It hovered in the air for a while, then spread out and formed a sentence with fiery letters that bobbed up and down in front of Hoshiko. "Believe in yourself! ∑ d(≧◡≦)" Turning her attention back to Rosalyva, she responded to the offer. "Aye, certainly. I'm the last person to refuse an offer to get closer to a fire. I can't say I've ever been to Caelum; what's it like?" Edited October 10, 2016 by Code: PIRULUK
Raindrop Valkyrie
"Whenever you want Hot Shot, though I... guess I'd need an extra spear... Well, I'm sure once I put in the order for the equipment I'll get myself a new one and then that'll be sorted. So, whenever we have down time feel free!" She returned the enthusiasm, with a warm smile and holding her hand up with her Index finger and middle finger forming a "V". She'd look forward to it. Though, it'd not be the same as with Gerson, she'd be the mentor this time. It was quite the odd feeling. She couldn't up but feel incredibly ancient. and yet she was nearly half the age of Gerson when he taught her. Somehow that man still had all that intensity despite being in his late 50's to 60's. She didn't know how he was still so full of vitality. Perhaps she'd have a leg up in that regard. All she hoped was that she could be half the mentor he was. At that time the small spell had come and gone. It could only be the work of one person. "Hmmm, so you can do pretty things with that fire of yours too Firecracker. You really are something special." Meredith thought, a smile on her lips even still.
Chevaleresse
Hoshiko nearly gaped at the appearance of the fiery letters. A message from the goddess...?! She looked about wildly for a moment, then spotted Serene a fair distance away. Oh, of course. . . but it could still be an indirect message! She serves the Goddess too, in her own way, so this can only be divine inspiration! In this situation, Hoshiko might have saluted at the fire mage - but Hoshiko wasn't exactly a traditional soldier. So, she gave her own version of one: another dramatic pose, that would have had both hands on her hips if one hadn't still been holding a bowl of stew. She settled back down and shoveled a few mouthfuls into her face as if the stew was in danger of vanishing before her eyes, then asked Meredith another question: "Do you think we could start now?" While she awaited an answer, she continued to attack the stew. ((OOC: No, I don't expect Meredith to say yes, lol))
Stalkerkain
"I have always wandered Dragao, so unfortunately I can't tell you anything about Caelum," she said regretfully. "Though if you're curious about it, Ecquis is from Caelum, and supposedly one of our other mages, Terrin is as well. It supposedly is a wondrous city of merchants and commerce. With a city like that, I'm hoping to find a blacksmith who can fix my sword properly."

Developers Marcello Posted October 10, 2016 Developers Share Posted October 10, 2016 "Hey, Klaren!" Terrin called out, running in an arc so he ended up in front of the monk. "I don't know what's up, but I think you need somoeone to talk to." He firmly told him, he'd already cheered him up once, at this point Klaren's not smiling was far too bizarre to tolerate. Not to mention he was actually rather nice to talk to and Terrin didn't much like seeing nice people like hin or Hoshiko unhappy. The mage had already forgotten, in his rush, that Sven was following him, but he'd no doubt be reminded soon.
Bfroger6
"..." Klaren stopped in his tracks, but didn't raise his head to look at Terrin. He wasn't crying anymore, but he felt distant. Raindrop Valkyrie
"Yes! Lesson 1: A Good Night's sleep. You can't get any good training done if you don't allow your body rest. Sleep is the best way to restore ones inner reserves of PASSION!" Meredith said smiling. while she'd love to get into hands on training right away, She was popped from today. Too many emotions, too much fighting already. It was best to save the sparing for another time. She took a deep breath, breathing in the night atmosphere, it felt, wonderful... refreshing. "So, let's get our rest. We've had a day of battling and traversing. Quite enough for today if you ask me, Hot Shot.~. I might even sleep out under the stars tonight. They are quite beautiful." Chevaleresse
Hoshiko's mouth twisted a bit in disappointment, but she didn't argue. The soldier had a good point, after all. "Alright. I suppose it has been a long day." She settled back and started to finish off the rest of her stew at a more reasonable pace, glancing over at Serene occasionally. This should help. . . right? Sutoratosu
She hadn't really bothered going near the fire or any of the others once they'd gotten back. Simply gone right into her tent; after what all that, she didn't have much of an appetite, and she didn't feel like having to talk to anyone besides ecquis about it...and even that was only because he had been there to witness the entire thing from start to end. Regardless of whether she wanted to talk or not though...it seemed someone was intent on starting conversation anyway... but certainly none of the one's she'd been expecting. "Well... you certainly got a bit of bite to ya, don't you?" Just as her mother's had been, his was but a whisper... but unlike her, Maya still wasn't sure whether she was actually hearing it or it was just in her head. "What do you want?" She sighed, not even bothering to stop polishing the ivory wood of her staff to look up. She knew by now what she would see if she did, why waste the energy even trying? "You seem to have a penchant of showing up unannounced, specter. If I'm spiralling into madness, just go on and tell me so we can get it over with. There's no point toying with me anymore." "Madness? Madness? Who said anything about madness. I'm as real as that stave in your hand...or..." Something pulled itself forward from within her robes. Before she could stop whatever force acted on it, the Sin tome was ripped from it's place and sent hurtling clear across the space, hitting the tent wall with an audible thud of leather meeting leather before falling open on the dirt ground. It had been more than enough to get her to look up... and yet again, just like the first time... there he was. Standing directly over the old book, even picking it up and hefting it closed in his hand. "So...think I'm still just a figment of your imagination? It takes a bit out of me to become visible and...move stuff like this-" Without him making a single move, the volume tossed up into the air and came back down to sit perfectly in is hand before sitting itself upright and beginning to spin on it's axis like a top "So, it's a lot easier to just talk to you without actually manifesting myself... still working on that though-anyways, you impressed me with how you dealt with that weirdo, haven't seen you that mad since...well... eh, nevermind. You ended up doing my job for me, little bastard won't cross you again I bet..." "You say that as if I should be proud of myself for what happened out there." "Oh what, don't give me that crap Maya. One way or another, the fool had a harsh run in with reality one way or another. Even when I was stuck just watching over you from the shadows, I saw how he acted... most annoying person I've ever laid eyes on. All you did here was accomplish the inevitable, if he hadn't heard it from you, he would've heard it on the end of an enemy lance out on the battlefield..." Heh, and Probably courtesy of my own meddling at that...but it's not quite time for her to know. She...might not take it well right now. Definitely not. "You idiot, that's not what I'm talking about. It's what I did to him that I'm worried about, how I used this staff against him, was so absolute in my assumption that my deed was just, like I was part of the damn church. Maybe you don't have issue with what I did, but can you can speak for Donalto? What about Papa?" It was only then though, that she thought back and caught something...off "Wait, hold on. What did you mean by 'watching over me from the shadows'?" "Huh? Oh...uh, nothing, nothing at all... just making sure you stay safe, no need to concern yourself with it," Damn, I need to be a bit more careful...I don't find the right time and way to tell her, and goddess knows what she'll do to the tome in reaction. "but fine... if you're so worried about what that old man and pops would think, what are you gonna do about this then? I mean, they'd want you to fix it... and I already saw you say you were gonna do it. But do you even know where to begin trying to get through to that Loon, I mean, c'mon sis, the idiot couldn't even catch the idea that you were with that Wyvern to scare him shitless. He's denser than a blacksmith's anvil, and about as thick skulled as one too...I think you're wasting your time. Make up for it elsewhere if you feel bad, but let this sleeping dog lie. He was pathetic before all this, and he's even more pathetic now. Don't waste your energy trying to turn gold out of sewage." "...Do you remember when we would find younger kids on the streets?" "Yeah, but-" "You remember which one of us always insisted we do what we can to help them, even though we barely had enough for ourselves?" "Yeah...me. But what the hell does this have to do with that little degenerate? Hell, you couldn't even tell his age, and he looks like a man to me, walking around at that height..." "Perhaps to you... but after all this, he...doesn't seem that much different from a naive child to me. I thought he was just a deranged degenerate too not that long ago, but...after I saw him groveling like that, without me really exerting that much force compared to what I could've. I don't think he actually means or really thinks about half the things he says and does, and everything I've seen from him before adds up with it..." "So...that's it then? Really? Well..." He sighed, tossing the tome back into her lap, probably a bit harder than he meant to...given her slight flinch at the impact "Goddess damnit, fine. Guess I can't convince you to just move on with your life and leave this can of worms alone then... look, I don't know who's right about this, but if you're so convinced he's just the mind of a naive child trapped in that body, then stop regarding him like you would a grown man. It doesn't make any damn sense with your own theory. Treat him like the child you think he really is instead; I may have been the one who always insisted we help those kids, but you always ended up going the mile to make sure they were at least a bit happier than when we found them. Besides, you've already seen what happens when you talk to him like a grown man. you try and try, and then you get frustrated, start showing what you can really do with that staff, and now here you are, beating yourself over something that quite frankly, I still think you shouldn't fret over. It'll be better for both of you if you stop and rethink how to go about this." "I...huh... You do have a point. I've only ever tried approaching the problem the same basic way, and it's only amounted to the same outcome; frustration and anger. Perhaps you're right... thank you." "Don't thank me." He said flatly, already beginning to fade as he crossed his arms... the look on his face far from satisfactory "I still think messing with this fucker is a bad idea and that you'll only cause yourself more grief and suffering trying... but damn it, even though I hate the idea of letting you do it, I can't exactly stop you from doing it either... so I might as well just try and point out a way to spare you some of that suffering. Damn am I tired... didn't expect it to go on this long..." "Wait, Freyl!" She reached out, before stopping herslef mid stride. As if her hold would be enough to keep him there any longer. "How are you doing this? I...I saw you die with my own eyes, why are you still here? What about everyone else?" "I stick.... because... refused to leave." He answered, even as his voice faltered, She could feel his very presence beginning to wane, "A promise...to keep. couldn't...leave...yet...Don't worry about it. I'm here... because I damn well chose to be." And like that... he was gone with the wind yet again.
Developers Marcello Posted October 11, 2016 Developers Share Posted October 11, 2016 "Hey, we're gonna sit down, maybe get some stew. You can talk if you wanna, and if not, I'll talk at you for a bit I guess." Terrin shrugged before finding the most comfortable looking spot nearby to sit. "Come on, join me... friend." He added with a smile before patting the spot next to him. It was then he noticed Sven once more, but he just smiled. "Big red wants you to cheer up too." "Friend..." Klaren kept looking away from Terrin. He didn't sit down. "I am your friend, but you aren't mine...nobody here really is... Like I have a father, but my father doesn't have a son anymore..." "What sort of a guy would call you friend if he wasn't your friend?" Terrin asked, before shaking his head and sighing. "If you don't mind me being a little longwinded, how about I tell you what I think of you, hmm? You gotta sit down though, I insist." "..."Klaren sat by Terrin quietly, face dug into his knees as he held his legs together. "When I first met you..." Terrin paused, trying to consider how gently he should phrase this. He decided honesty was best before continuing. "I didn't like you much at all. I'd never gotten along with monks and nuns at the best of times, and I thought you were like my youngest brother, who is... Not a great man." Terrin just sighed, wringing his hands a little. "Remember I mentioned I used to know someone obsessed with death and all that? That would be Lindl. I judged you quickly after seeing a few interactions, and decided there was no hope we could ever get along and so I tried to avoid you." After a brief pause, Terrin looked up at the monk with a smile. "I was wrong. Lindl is a bad man, but you? You're so very far from that. I think, and I say this honestly, that you're a good man, Klaren. A very good man indeed." "..!" Finally, Klaren reluctantly raised his head to face Terrin. So that was what the mage meant last time... Still though..."But if what I'm doing isn't bad...how come nobody- I mean...almost nobody likes me? Ever..." Sven, in an attempt to console the sad monk, went over to Klaren and laid besides him. The wyvern had yet to interact with the monk, but he still didn't want to see a sad face. "You're very different." He admitted. "It's one of the reasons I was wary of you at first. Perhaps other people haven't realised what a nice person you are, like I have. And hey, Big Red here seems to agree with me, don't you?" Terrin laughed a little as he glanced at Sven. "Lindl has his own wyvern, just like Big Red. I mean, his is bigger and meaner and redder but... Nowhere near as handsome and gallant looking." Terrin decided to add, knowing the wyvern seemed to like compliments. "Plus Lindl's is slightly less... alive. But I suppose that's neither here nor there, I feel like I've gone off on a tangent." The mage murmured, before regaining his focus. "Do you wanna tell me what happened? Or should I just carry on telling you how great you are?" He joked. Klaren noticed the wyvern only as it laid beside him. He glanced at it in confusion, holding back an urge to flash a smile as his hand proceeded to gently run across its back scales."B-b-but I always try to be friendly-!" Klaren suddenly burst. Not angrily, but he certainly did raise his voice for a moment, only to lower it again in the end. "I-I mean...I'm sorry... I just wanna be friends with everyone...but people always just see me and they think I'm bad...you...too... I'm a rotten apple that rolled too far from the tree... Mis- Mayanna got angry at me... She said some things...and I agreed with them...but it still made me sad..." "I'm sure she just snapped and regretted saying what she did." Terrin frowned a bit. If he had to, he had no problem having some harsh words with Maya, Klaren was the general exception to his dislike of clergy, so far. "Y'know, it does make me sad to see my friends sad." He added, with an exaggerated pout. "Even if she regretted saying it...it doesn't make it any less true..." Klaren recalled the way Mayanna had tried to help him pick the journal up, but he didn't want her help... Honestly, he still would have probably pushed her away at that moment even if he'd been calmer...after what happened...because he didn't want to ever be a bother and her words were how she really felt... Peoply always told the truth when they were angry... But Klaren never got angry. Maybe he was the biggest liar of them all...The monk kept gliding his hand across the wyvern's back. It itched, however. His wrist. And the cuts upon it. They were aching to be reopened so that he let his doubts just flow out... "I-it'll make me sad if you get sad..." "Well I don't wanna be sad, and I certainly don't want you to be sad either." Terrin sighed, before perking up a little. "Even if what she said is true, y'know, I think she just hasn't yet realised how nice you are. Even if me and Big Red are the ones that know that now, everyone will in due time." He folded his arms as he said this, watching Klaren gently pet the wyvern, hoping he could at least partly put the monk's mind at ease. "I-I'll think about it, then-" Klaren said, with a bit more resolution in his voice now. Terrin's words gave him some sense of firmness, even if it was bare and ethereal. Now he needed some time alone to think things through. Reach some conclusions on his own. About what to do and how to act from now on. And i-if his friendship with Terring was truly real, then maybe...maybe it meant the opposite of what he thought after the event with Mayanna. Maybe it meant anyone could like him, if Terrin could, and Terrin seemed to have some sort of grudge about something, even if he was only barely letting anyone in on it...So Klaren stood up, giving the wyvern one last pat before bowing down to Terrin silently and turning away towards his tent. Terrin sighed. He wasn't sure if it had worked, but he had just been honest with Klaren, and hoped he had made him feel better. He glanced over at Sven. "Hey Big Red, how 'bout we find Ecquis for you?" He asked, before getting up and beginning to look around. Having gone back to the camp, Ecquis noticed that Sven still hadn't come back. He figured that he didn't go very far, but he still needed to go look. Though it only took a few glances around to find Sven around with Terrin. "Oh, so this is where Sven ran off to. I trust the two of you managed things ok?" Ecquis asked, slightly surprised to see Terrin with Sven, but still glad to see the red wyvern. "Sven?" Terrin asked, before realising. "Oh, right, you mean Big Red over here." He laughed a little bit. "Yeah, he's a friendly thing. Especially if you compliment him." The mage smirked, before scratching under the wyvern's chin once more. "Sven was one of the friendlier of the group really. Ziona and Cynthia on the other hand, they aren't as friendly with others," Ecquis remarked, noting how those two tended to avoid other people if possible. "Still, you seem to be quite comfortable around wyverns. Were you around any during your life at any point?" Ecquis asked, knowing that most of the people who first see a wyvern in Dragao are usually more terrified than anything else. Terrin sighed. "Wish I could say you were wrong but... My little brother had a wyvern." He paused a bit, but shrugged. "If you can call that beast Mortis a wyvern. Bigger than Sven, a bloody crimson colour, vicious and brutal beast." Terrin folded his arms, before adding the crucial detail. "Oh, and dead. Very dead." "Dead you say? If I may ask, what happened?" Ecquis decided to ask. He had no way of knowing if he would tell him, seeing as how this was the first conversation the two had, but there was no harm in trying . "Me and Lindl found a rider and his wyvern- I didn't recognise the armour -in a field, full of arrows one day. Next thing I know, the following day, Lindl had a wyvern. It wasn't until I noticed the scars, the maggots, and the fact that all the arrows were still there, that I realised it was the same beast."Terrin looked down at the floor, just sighing. "Oh...necromancy eh? I'll be honest, I haven't seen much of it, but I have heard some things about it, though most of that information was just tidbits I heard from various merchants back in Caelum," Ecquis remarked. He wasn't sure what sort of person used necromancy on wyverns, but Terrin's brother either was someone who knew necromancy himself or knew people who were capable of it. "No clue how he did it. He'd always been interested in dark magic, but I never knew he was THAT good. He'd always been more handy with an axe..."Terrin shook his head and shrugged once more. "Goddess knows where he is now. About a week after he 'acquired' Mortis, he stole one of my father's axes and just flew away. Wherever he is, I doubt he's doing anything... Moral. Scariest kid you've ever met, I tell you. Just wish I could have gotten through to him." "He sounds like the kind of guy my brother would like. Maybe those two ran into each other at some point. I wouldn't know, I haven't spoken to my actual family in almost a decade," Ecquis said, with what seemed like a hint of sadness in his voice. "At least going to Caelum I'll be able to see Clara again. She's the closest thing to an older sister I've had, and part of the reason I ended up doing well in Caelum," Ecquis remarked, hopeful to see her again once they arrive at their destination. "I mean, I suppose at least Lindl didn't actively despise me like he did my other siblings but..." Terrin shrugged. "I take it your brother is hardly the nicest egg in the nest either?" He asked, before smiling at Ecquis latter comment. "I'm certainly hoping I get to see old man Deth, or my mother. But in the same vein, there are a few siblings I'd rather avoid once back in Caelum." He admitted. "I can't say I won't mind meeting any of the people I knew in Caelum really. Clara was always around for me when I needed it. Though if we are able to go around enough, perhaps I can thank Aisha for everything she did for me. We didn't talk too much, but she did help me get some equipment before I left and she always payed well for my services whenever needed, so I feel that thanking her for that now wouldn't be so bad," Ecquis said fondly, recalling Aisha and his meetings with her. "Did you say...?" Terrin narrowed his eyes for a bit, and then shrugged. "Huh. Small world. Although I shouldn't be surprised, you no doubt worked with SOME big merchants, would make sense she was one of them." Terrin remarked, amused by the coincidence. "Hmm? Do you know Aisha as well by any chance?" Ecquis asked, somewhat interested in his relation to her. "I'd sure hope I know her. I'd be a terrible son otherwise." Terrin remarked with a smirk. "Well then, it really is a small world," Ecquis remarked, rather amused that Aisha was the mother of Terrin. "Still, it's sort of strange for me to consider that I've worked with the mother of one of the people here, especially someone who may be around my age," Ecquis commented. "Your age?" Terrin asked with raised eyebrows. "Unless you've got a pretty severe case of babyface, I just assumed I had a few years on you." He admitted. "You probably do, but maybe not as many as you think. Though, my family does have a tendency to look much younger than they actually are so there is that. Then again, my idea of around my age is probably a bit skewed considering my company up until now. Before I came here, most of the people I was in contact with were at least a decade or two older than me, so a few years isn't something I see as much of an age gap personally," Ecquis remarked. Up until he had joined this unit, he had never interacted with people who were particularly close to his age. "I suppose you're right. Well, if we see my mother in Caelum, I'm sure she'll be glad to see the two of us fighting under the same banner, eh?" He asked with a chuckle, Terrin was used to being around his siblings, which was such a wide array of ages, that it didn't much bother him either way. Everyone in the Children was competent and wanted to fight the good fight, which was what mattered to him. "Especially for a good cause like this one." "I suppose so. Anyways, now that Sven is back I think I'll get some rest myself. Today has been...quite a long day for me," Ecquis said, recalling all of today's events. "I'll be seeing you later then," Ecquis remarked before taking Sven and going back to where the other wyverns were.
Pyon Pyon Kyuu!~
[Chapter 2 Clear!] Chapter 3: Politics and Thieves 16th of First Heat Travel Map: The party eventually packed up their belongings and moved on. The two merchants, Anna and Ian tagged along adamant on reaching the Caelum themselves. Against their wishes though, they avoided Rune City. "Saffron, honey. If we passed by the city Ian and I could restock our wares. We'd have higher quality wares." "I'm sorry Anna, but no. The last time I passed here, we sought protection from the Nohr family. They refused us, and only by honor did they let us go. They made it clear they would side with King Roswell, and that Keagan, Feri and I would be arrested on sight if the King commanded it." And so they stayed far away from the city. The bright side was that by sticking away from the city they avoided the mountains and made a much faster time. Even so it still took them a week and more to get through the land bridge. On one day, the party scout Dash came back with news. "There are check points on all points I can see. There's a wall of soldiers to either side, I think this is the safest place to cross." With some quick thinking, Saffron decided on a plan. "Ian and Anna will go first with their wagon. We'll do our best to pass off as guards." The party did as such with Anna, Ian and Dash going forward as the merchant family. "Halt!" A soldier ordered. "Oh hello! We're just a merchant train passing through." Anna leaned forward at the soldier, acting calm and like her usual self. "A merchant train?" The soldier eyed the party, counting heads. "Awful lot of you, I'll have to check with the boss to see if you are all clear to go." The soldier turned around and called out the the other soldiers. Quickly, a mob of other soldiers was gathering. "No really it's fine, we'll just be on our way." "Quiet down wench you'll speak when the boss is here." Anna gathered her hands into fists. "Wench huh?" She returned back to the cart digging through her items. "Anna, whatever you are doing it doesn't sound good please do not-" "YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO PISS A PRETTY LADY OFF NOW DON'T YOU!?" What Anna was searching for was a club. A club that quickly found itself smashing against the soldier's head. The soldier died, and his fellow soldiers quickly reacted surrounding the cart. Saffron sighed heavily. "I guess passing by won't be an options; all that is left is to fight." WIN CONDITION: Defeat the Boss LOSS CONDITION: All player units die. Zetaark
"Looks like we get to fight our way through. Lovely," Ecquis remarked, seeing the display that Anna had put on. Really though, calling any woman a wench is bound to end badly no matter what. Regardless, Ecquis decided to move out, riding his black wyvern, Ziona. "Time to get a move on," Ecquis says before flying towards the enemy. Stalkerkain
Rosalvya had been on edge, as they neared the check point. She didn't think it would be possible for them not to recognize Saffron. But before her concern could be addressed, the silence was broken by Anna cracking the soldier's skull. It took a second for this to register, before Rosalvya was rendered speechless. "Maybe one day we'll solve things without fighting. Just look to the positives for now, Rosalvya, The positives...." she thought to herself, as she could hear Saffron's audible sigh. "You sure know how to make an entrance, Anna." she said with an uneasy smile. No use in regretting it now. Code: PIRULUK
Serene grimaced as Anna crushed the soldier's skull with a satisfying crack. The poor man. She sighed as she stretched, working out the kinks in her shoulders. It was a bit of a pain, but she supposed they had no choice but to fight here. She had since changed her clothing, wearing a strange mix of a dress and armor - her body was mostly clothed in a dress with a half-skirt that covered her left leg, over a pair of red leggings. Her chest and left shoulder was encased in plate armor, while her right arm donned a sleeve that was the same colour as her eyes. It was the armor she had used in the army, that she had previously kept in her satchel because it got in the way of her fun in the burning building. Feeling invigorated now that she was back in her combat attire, she grinned. She had refrained from fighting in her usual style previously, since she wanted to see how the rest of the band did, but this time, she could go all out. "Aight, let's heat things up!" Sutoratosu
You had one job, Anna, one goddess damned job... and you screw it all up by completely flying off the handle and murdering a man over one little remark... She took just a few moments to steady herself as the plan already fell to absolute shit all around her... and she wasn't doing a very good job of it, truth be told. Just their damn luck, no matter how iffy it was, there had been a chance to avoid clashing steel here...and like that, it was gone "well, no avoiding it now," She muttered. "it's all just more work for me the end. But no, I appreciate it...no, really I mean it...no, no, it's not like healing idiots who get bitten in the rear with their own actions isn't the exact opposite of how I want to spend my time..." Moves to C4 and mutters some shit about certain overactive, red-headed merchants ruining things...
Developers Marcello Posted October 12, 2016 Developers Share Posted October 12, 2016 "You may just be the second scariest merchant I've ever met..." Terrin just sighed, shaking has head as Anna's wrath unfolded around him. He'd never seen his mother outright kill anyone for giving offence but she had bankrupted a number for that reason. No point crying over spilt milk, though, they were in combat now. And he supposed if nothing else, this was a unit of soldiers that couldn't chase after them later.MOVE to D4 and ATTACK Mercenary
Bfroger6
"..." There wasn't really much for Klaren to do here. Being around everyone now brought him only discomfort. Beneath his sleeves, now dirtied, a bandage was wrapped around his arms rather messily and crudely. What? He'd never really had to do it himself... and without any healing, he had to cover it up somehow. Not that he really managed...as not only was the bandage messy, it was also crusted with a red tinge from the inside. Moving to A7. Equipping Blessed Iron. Raindrop Valkyrie
Meredith patted Anna on the shoulder as she ran by. "You really drive a hard bargain hun~ He got what was coming to him." she whispered the part after so that the rest of the group couldn't really hear her. "And even if the rest of the group doesn't approve I do between you and me. Woman's gotta command respect.~ Gotta bash a few skulls in sometimes show 'em who's in charge." Either way, Meredith was moving into position to intercept more threats that would probably arrange themselves. She would take on the eastern front of foes. Surveying them it was best for her and Saffron to cover this flank while the others moved to defend the other. Luckily, they had already started doing so. She would have Dash, and Saffron support them. She smiled at the two mages performing well "Good job Firecracker! You're really blazin' ahead. Oh. You too Thunder Blunder!!! Spirits must feel bad for missing all this time!" She couldn't really think of anything more clever in the moment so she just went with the first thing she thought of. "Alright, Saffron, Dash! I'm going to move forward to defend our eastern flank. I would appreciate your support. Saffron stay with me as much as possible. We can use our lances together to gain an advantage. Dash, you're fast! Use that speed to aid us as best you can! If you gotta fight try and fight those big fellas with the axes! They're slow and dumb for picking the worst weapon! Certainly no where near as good at wielding them as our Hard Bargain over there.~ So give 'em a good wallopin' for me ya hear!?!?" Move to G3 ((translations on the NPC orders, I want Saffron to stay within support range of Meredith and Dash to stick close as well. This way giving me two of 3 units I need to not have my damage gimped with me most of the time hopefully.))
