"Too little too late huh... So these folks really are that serious, well if they weren't they wouldn't have traveled this far." The man thought to himself crossing his arms.

"So whether this talk is a success or a failure where do you plan on heading next? I assume you'll be heading off Yukihana for their support as well to increase your odds of victory."

"Yes, I suppose in all likelihood, that would be our next destination. Besides, if something goes wrong here, Yukihana will definitely be our only hope left, period. But... if everything runs smoothly, it'll simply be the last, long overdue nail in Roswell's coffin."

"but that also begs the question- what of you, Mercer? Are you thinking of coming with us? You're certainly asking quite a lot of questions...questions which I must be honest, I would not be answering, were it not for the help you gave us earlier. Not that I still think you're an agent of the king or anything at this point, but one can never be too careful when it comes to accounting for loose ends these days, you know?"

"Well I would be lying if I said the thought hadn't crossed my mind more than once. A lot of people in Caellim, myself included, have suffered because of his actions. Honestly, I would love for his neck to meet with the blade of my axe but I also value my life and don't want to be throwing it away. So I thought I might as well ask a couple of questions before I finalize my decision."

qkSSoK6.png

"And about that loose end thing, don't worry about that. I sooner take my own life than give anything to that scum of a King."

"Oh? Well then," she smiled, though there was just... a hint of something beneath it, a certain approval...like someone watching an unrepentant villain get their just deserts "I suppose that makes you, and all the rest of us too. So, just what have you decided then, Mercer? Are you going to tag along, help end this petty madness? If things go well in the meeting, I highly doubt funding will be an issue, and coupled with the fact you've already proven yourself a man of at least some character, I doubt Meredith would have much justification to turn down your help, if you offered it."

"Yea, I've decided to I want to join your group whether or not the peace talk goes well. I've been waiting for long time to give Roswell a piece of my mind and your group gives me the perfect opportunity to do so. Besides, it's not like I have anything better to do staying cooped in this desert. So what do ya say, think you can spare some room for another fighter in your ranks? If you need proof of my combat capabilities I'll spar with anyone in your ranks." The man spoke with confidently. He had very little reason to not join. Not only would he be able to get a bit of vengeance, he'll also be able help atone for his past sins.

Hoshiko was quiet for a time, considering what Terrin had said. "Why did you stand up for him, then? Studying the dark arts, and not showing any care for anyone around him . . . Terrin, that sounds like a villain from the stories my dad would tell me when i was small. What did you think would happen?"

"Put simply? I didn't know how bad he would turn out. He was a troubled kid, acting out against those around him, but then, so was I. I thought he just needed what I didn't really have growing up - a friend. We all realised, in due time, that he was committed to a dark path that I couldn't stop." Terrin explained, before smiling at Hoshiko. "We're almost at the Senator's house, now."

As Terrin and Hoshiko come closer to their destination, people seem to be going in the opposite direction running away from the senator's house. They see the house, a large manor two stories high and build with a rather large space from other buildings. However from every window, chimney and door large pillar of black smoke gushed out escaping the house. The main door burst open, and a familiar face came out coughing his lungs out.

"That was, the wrong approach for sure... Perhaps I recited the wrong verse? No, no no it must have been the humidity. This blasted heat will always mess up my every attempt at mastering the magical arts, if the spirits can't come together and unite how will I ever-" You have a feeling that if you do not interrupt him, he will be rambling to himself for ages.

"Ah yes I probably should have warned you he's a bit of an... eccentric genius." Terrin whispered to Hoshiko, before approaching the rambling man. "Senator! Of all the times I've seen you trash your manor, this is the first time you've done it with fire." The mage said loudly enough for the senator to hear over his own muttering.

The senator looked in Terrin's direction and rubbed his eyes just to make sure his eyes didn't deceive him. "By blazes, is that? Terrin?" He ran up to him, and spread his arms around Terrin mustering all the strength to show his love for the mage in a warm hug. "Terrin my boy, it's been a while! Too long! Come, come! Let me show you my latest experiment, you see I was getting annoyed at how long it takes to boil water to make tea. So I had the brilliant idea to use fire magic, however fire spirits alone are far too dangerous so I thought I could calm them down and focus their energy with other types of spirits. It seems that in this heat and humidity the fire spirits are still far too strong and overpower other magics, which created the explosion you see here." He waved his hand in the direction of his smoking manor. "On the other hand I'm sure the kettle is at the perfect temperature, would you like some tea?"

"It has indeed been too long, Senator." Terrin nodded wholeheartedly in agreement. "I'd love to see your experiment- and some tea would be appreciated. I hope you don't mind if my friend joins us, though?" He asked, gesturing to Hoshiko to bring the Senator's attention to the archer.

"I see. Did you find out anything interesting," Ecquis asked, deciding to find out about those individuals this way. He figured confronting her in a more hostile manner would be more likely to cause problems down the line.

"Didn' find out much, jus' makin' sure they know I'm in town." She smirked, equal parts innocent and mischievous. "Lesson one of survivin' people can' hur' you if they are too scared to figh'. Warnin' them you are dangerous is a good place to star'."

Senator_Deth.png

"Oh... OH! Lucky man, lucky man!"  He elbowed Terrin lightly, teasing him. "Of course your girlfriend... I mean your friend girl is more than welcome in my house! Any girlfriend... I mean friend girl of Terrin's is a friend of mine! Please enter!" He leads them inside the manor, which is still very much smoking and fuming. He enters the kitchen which is in the worst state of all, but in the middle of one of the counters is a kettle, with perfectly boiling water. He pours it in a tea set, putting it on a tray and bringing it to the living room. It's clear that it was messy and scattered with books and papers before, and now with this explosion it looks even worse! He opens all the windows, and then sits on a couch gesturing his guests to do the same. "So what brings you two to Caelum? Terrin are you here to uhm... Tie the knot so to speak? Oh and where are my manners, what's your name lass?"

The archer struck a pose with one fist thrust up into the air, crouched with her feet spread out somewhat. "I am Hoshiko the Righteous, Chosen Hero of the Fiery Goddess, sent to deliver justice to the evil!" After a moment, it seemed that the rest of what the man had said finally clicked in her head; she showed an emotion that one might have thought the hunter was incapable of. Namely, embarrassment; she turned a shade of pink that was a lovely complement to the shade of her hair. "Er, um, no, we're part of a larger group visiting Caelum on business. No, uh, tying."

"I suppose, but make sure you know what you're getting into at all times. It wouldn't do for you to suddenly get caught by an organized group. Or angry merchants. I'd say the latter is more dangerous around these parts if I had to choose," Ecquis says, thinking back on a few incidents he saw back when he still lived in Caelum.

"You can slow down a bit, I'm not the one you need to convince- Meredith is," the priestess chuckled "She's been a bit... annoyed with how many people we've ended up with, considering even before you showed up, we had taken on 2 others since we left. Which is understable, given It does drive up expenses and all, especially considering we set out with only so much coin. But... like I said, if things go well and we gain Caelum's support, I doubt future funds will be any issue. And if you're as skilled with that axe as you seem passionate to join this fight, who knows, you may manage to convince her yet. You should probably wait though, before you go trying. I doubt she would want to be disturbed right now."

"I-I see. Excuse me for my rashness." Well that was more than a little embarrassing. Maybe he's been wanting this more than he knew. I suppose he'll just have to wait. Storming into a women's bathhouse probably isn't the smartest idea.

qkSSoK6.png

"Yea... disrupting her now would not be wise and I suppose the best time to ask would be after the meeting if funding is the issue." He paused for a moment. Meredith was the one soaked in blood when he first met up with the group. It might be tough trying to talk to her after that first impression. Let's just hope it'll go better then he expects.  "I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. Unless you have questions for me I think I'll be off, I wouldn't want to bother you any longer than I have."

"Oh a larger group? So you take after your mother Terrin? I can't say I blame you, the married life in Caelum is very attractive. And you have chosen a beautiful main wife, yes indeed!" He pours some tea on to three cups, and takes a sip out of one of them. "But well if you aren't getting married to your larger group of wives and husbands what are you here for? Did you come to hear about my wonderful discoveries?"

VG1qXbt.png

"Ya know, I never left Nohr lands, just wen' from city ta city and merchan's are all the same. So are criminals, dey are all scared and whimps." She hesitated to say the next part biting her lip for a second. "Thank you for worrying abou' me...  Ya don' need to, I've taken care of myself for a long long time, bu' it's still nice I guess."

Terrin was clearly trying very hard to hold back his laughter- This meeting was going about as well as he expected. And he couldn't help but be amused by his friend's embarassment.
"While I'm glad you think she would make a lovely main wife, this beautiful woman and myself are in fact here on matters of a more... political nature." Terrin said, before taking a deep breath, trying to compose himself. Not that he did a very good job of it, clearly still very much on the verge of hysterics. "We have a meeting tomorrow, a rather important one. And we felt you would be able to give us advice on how best to deal with it. Of course, we would also love to hear about your discoveries!" The mage said cheerfully, before turning to his blushing companion. "Right, Hoshiko?"

"Having someone around to take care of you is a nice thing to have. I've been all throughout the continent myself. Dragao, Caelum, and even Yukihana. Most of that time was mostly me alone, but I had a few people around to help me out when I needed it. They probably had no real reason to continue assisting me after our initial meeting, but they decided to do so anyways, and I'm truly thankful for it. I don't doubt your ability to take care of yourself, but I also hope you don't mind getting a little help from us at times. I'm sure it may be as useful to you as it was to me," he tells her, thinking on his own journeys.

"I will say though, some of the merchants here can be quite aggressive when it comes to defending their goods, so do be careful."

"Alright well, who are you meeting with? Traditions can be complicated here in Caelum, as you know, and it's not always clear cut exactly what you should do."

VG1qXbt.png

"Eeeeh? So ya traveled? Any funny stories?" Cherry asked enthusiastically, completely brushing off Ecquis' kind comment too.

"Well, I have traveled around quite a bit due to...various circumstances. As for funny stories..." Ecquis pauses, thinking for a bit about what she may be interested in. "I don't know how many are funny persay, but I have a few stories. I suppose I'll let you pick which place the story comes from. Would you prefer a story from my time in Yukihana, or would you prefer one from my time here in Caelum?"

Hoshiko did not seem to be particularly capable of delivering a response at the moment, despite the way her mouth opened and closed several times. Unless you counted the strangled-sounding noise as one, or the fact that her face had evidently seen the shade of pink it had been earlier, grown disgusted, and begun to emulate the bright red of her shirt instead.

Terrin glanced at his companion and smiled a bit; who knew Hoshiko was even capable of such surprise and embarassment. He turned back to the senator with the same smile, regardless. "Yes, that complexity can be quite something, and the two of us- and our group as a whole -would certainly rather this meeting went well. It's, uh..." Terrin sighed a bit as the gravity of the whole situation began to hit him while he explained it. "We have an audience with Ignis, Sol, & Lua."
