officialarimakishou
Otherwise known as Arima Kishou Finally Finishes A Playthrough INTRODUCTION: Alrighty... I'm gonna be honest. I've been playing Pokemon Reborn off and on since about episode 13, when I started watching Shofu's Youtuve playthrough and got really invested in the story, and a whole bunch of the cool effects and abilities and such that Ame had placed inside of the game! I thought it was fascinating and, like the idiot I was, I downloaded the game thinking, with my mediocre skill set and sensitive nature about losing, I might be able to progress to the end of the current episode at the time. I was... So wrong. It's been about a year? Going on two since I first played. I've started monotypes and nuzlockes and all sorts of other types of runs and I've never completed an episode from top to bottom. Not once. I've seen it all vicariously, but I haven't experienced it all. And that should end today. I'm officialarimakishou, and my goal is to finish a Pokemon Reborn Run from beginning to end. This isn't... Totally a Nuzlocke, since I can't do those well at all. However, it will have a rule or two: 1: The full team must have names that at least reference Arima Kishou's Quinque's. 2: Only the first pokemon encountered may be caught per route + 1 event pokemon per area. [credit to DemICE for this idea!] 3: Progress must be made on a weekly basis. Pretty simple, not that hard. But I've messed up before. TEAM: Turtwig : Ixa : LVL 10 Shell Armor : Absorb / Tackle / Withdraw Espurr : Third : LVL 8 Keen Eye : Scratch / Covet / Leer Whimsur : Fukuro : LVL 5 Soundproof : Echoed Voice : Pound : Growl STARTING OUT Currently, I'm barely anywhere. This is just the beginning of the game, mostly exploring the area around the first Gym in an attempt to find myself some Pokes I can use to crush Fern! DemICE
ya know if you dont wanna nuzlocke, i can think of a better way. right now your rule is : no limitations on catching pokemon, but they can still die. (and then you might go and catch another pokemon of the same species and re-train it) how about this : catch only the first pokemon you find in an area (+1 event pokemon) but there is no death ? Timber Dragon
Yeah, a Nuzlocke might seem a bit much if you haven't even completed a full game yet. I like DemICE's second suggestion about catching only the first Pokemon in an area (and one event mon), but without the death penalty. Because honestly, it's the death penalty that really gets to me. My mons die a lot in Reborn. Like, a lot. Like, I can get through Reborn just fine but it's not unusual to win a major battle with, like, half my team fainted. I'm not the best example of a good Reborn player.

However, that's why you post stuff in the forums! So that people can help you out (and also give you sweet sweet attention. and keep you on track with your updating schedule.) Speaking of Updates First Fight With Fern Normally I wouldn’t exactly cover this, since its Fern and he’s not only a bastard in general but typically pretty easy in the first fight, but man did I under estimate him and my pokemon during this fight. His Lotad lead got demolished. It came in and used absorb on Fukuro, who has been living up to his name sake by rapidly gaining power and generally proving to be alarmingly good at murdering other pokemon. His Soundblock keeps coming in handy against pokemon attempting to lower my pokemon’s stats so I’m probably gonna keep that ability at least until Julia’s battle is done. I will never have to fear the power of Sonic Boom due to the evil that is the Owl. However, I did not want to chance a death with this beautiful creature, so I switched once the Snivy came in into a newer pokemon, a Wingull I’d just caught. Mistake. His Snivy managed to one hit kill it, so thats a Wingull boxed forever (I just wanted something that could fly…) and thus teach me a lesson about always going back to the Poke Center after I catch anything. It then nearly managed to kill Ixa, probably feeling confident after wrecking one of my pokemon. Ixa decided she wasn’t having it, however, and tackled Snivy into oblivion in the nick of time. From there, the Budew was pretty easy. A couple of Third’s Confusions and it wilted into the ground. And I’ve definitely learned about what I need to be doing to keep this team alive, that’s for sure…. Temple of Annoying aka The Factory Learning how to keep the team alive came in handy in here. None of the Grunts posed any threat, and I managed to get everyone of my pokemon through it, despite Fern’s Budew deciding to bite the bucket once, which I thought was hilarious. Aster and Eclipse on the other hand made excellent use of the Field and then excellent use of team synergy, while Fern tried to sabotage me at every turn by just generally excisting. Still, a well placed Light Screen at the beginning of the match from Third, a Screech or two from the resident killer owl, and a tackle from Ixa managed to steal the win from them, although… That was close…. edit: Oh right! The Team! Turtwig : IXA : LVL 16 Shell Armor : Female Absorb / Tackle / Withdraw / Razor Leaf Espurr : Third : LVL 15 Keen Eye : Male Scratch / Covet / Light Screen / Confusion Whimsur : Fukuro : LVL 17 Soundproof : Male Echoed Voice / Pound / Howl / Screech P.S. @ Timber : You are definitely not the only one... I've managed to never complete this game ever due to how bad I am and then how sad I get when I lose more then four times in a row! (Although, from what I've seen of your runs, you seem to be a real competent player, and also a really fun person in general so! I personally don't think you suck lol) Edited August 10, 2016 by officialarimakishou

PokeFailure
PsyTwo will grant u 1 event pokemon for the low low price of you can't catch any legendaries in sun and moon.
officialarimakishou
That deal seems good! Too good. You wouldn't happen to look anything like this in real life?
officialarimakishou
Update Not much really happened because my team (surprisingly) managed to get a lot more done once I added some more players. But! Julia Oddly boring. Her Sonic Booms freaked me out, but for the most part, Cursed Ixa was able to kill everything she encountered. And if not her, then Fukuro was able to Echo Voice it down to death. It took a little maneuvering but wasn’t half as bad as I remembered, praise Arceus. Roadblock Encounter #1 Block attempt? Failed. Mostly because the little Espurr got Psybeam so... It was pretty simple to just be able to ruin everything she threw out, even the Ralts (I want a Ralts so bad...) officialarimakishou
UPDATE GRASSDEATH Let me preface this fight by saying that I really need to send some serious thanks and props to both Timber and Demi. both of them suggested switching my rules up from PokeDeath allowed to something less intense and I honestly have to say thank Arceus for that. From the get go, the Tangrowth was capable of one shooting numerous pokemon on my team. Starting off by sending out my little angry Fukuro, I thought maybe hitting it with a couple Screeches would help me knock it out with a 2+ Cursed Ixa. That was a flat out lie. First off, it merc’d my Loudred before he could get off more then one Screech, and then proceeded to set up on my Ixa as they Cursed and used Acid Spray, which I forgot about completely. As it continued to absolutely decimate my party, I realized the only thing I could hope for was just… Confusion with a Psybeam from my Espurr. I had to undertake that battle at least 4 times, which is what encouraged me to go back and grab a Numel after all of that. My fight with Four Eyes No Soul went easy after grabbing that Numel. I’m so happy I grabbed her! FLORINIA For this battle, I tried to come as prepared as possible. She’s aways been capable of crushing me underneath her boot, so it’s important for me to like… No totally disappoint myself and just flat out die first try. She starts out with Maractus, and I start out with Aus, my Numel, who just Lava Plumes right through that thing. I convince her to waste all of her super potions with it too, which just makes me fall in love with it even more then I had originally planned. I am now a Numel Stan, I will defend those numb little camels until I die. Her Breloom scared the ever loving shit out of me, but I was certain Third was going to be able to one shot it. I was completely correct. A Fake Out + Psybeam combination left that thing a pulpy mass on the floor. Numel Lava Plume’d her Ferroseed into bits of spiky charcoal, and from there, I left everything up to 2+Cursed Ixa, who cleaned house after that point. I am incredibly glad that it happened like this, because the next battle was going to make myself want to gouge my own eyes out.
