Pokenations 2 Megarun

Drymus

Recommended Posts

With the conclusion of Pokenations 2, I have gained a lot of free time. Thus, I decided to start a new run.

Then I decided to start six instead.

One for each player character.

Each character will be named after one of the six nations (Chosen at random).

That character may only use Pokemon of that nation's type in battle.

Exceptions to the above rule include HM slavery (ONLY if there is nothing that can learn the HM that is of the nation's type) and grinding a mon that evolves into one of the nation's types. Magnezone and Metagross are banned, as Ame has made it clear that they will be axed in Episode 16. Going back to a previous episode is also banned.

I will also rank each nation in terms of difficulty at the end of each boss fight.

Also, nickname suggestions will be accepted from members of a given nation. (Excluding the starter, which will be named after the nation's leader)

Update 0: Starters Get!

Amazon:

WzOo2xz.png

Amazon gets the roll for Male 1.

Now, available starters for Amazon include all grass types, Charmander, and the Fire Fighters.

dXhZGyR.png

Choosing Snivy due to the simple fact that I've never run Snivy before.

Atlantis:

xDng9Kc.png

Atlantis gets Non-Binary 1.

Now, Atlantis has access to every water type. But among them, the one with the most interesting ability is probably...

13KS4DO.png

So Bubble Frog it is.

Avalon:

PPGDMep.png

Non-Binary 2 goes to Avalon.

Now, Avalon can only use one of the starters...

lE98KPw.png

And they can't even use it in battle until it can reach level 36...

D9RfpFu.png

So I picked this guy up to act as the replacement starter.

bVE87OH.png

Gaia:

2ixSne1.png

Gaia, who have been assigned Male 2, can use 2 of the starters.

8Vjr1Yi.png

Of course, only one will be of any use in the first few fights...

Phantom Vulcan:

v1k76uT.pngd3f2oLq.png

I tried, guys...

Anyhow, PV won't be getting anything to deal with Cradily after this, really. That cuts down the options to the Fire Fighters. As we all know, Tepig is obtainable later and Torchick breaks the game. So...

025fBRg.png

Ravenholts:

Lastly on the alphabetized list, we have the Ravenholts.

KtBvhCe.png

Like Gaia, they have access to a whopping 2 starters. Also like Gaia, one is unusable until it evolves fully.

ABiQTXS.png

Now then. The starters are chosen. Next time, we see things actually happen.

Thanks for reading!

Thx for the snub tbh. If memory serves me well I was a Ravenholt leader too for some weeks /salt

Same for Davidpwns too

Hey hey, dont get saltly he cant account for every piece of drama/complication that happened. Besides, did you really want to be named after a bulbasaur? I can see another pokemon fit you perfectly.

  • 2 months later...

So, it turns out that regardless of how good of a game you play, to running through the same chapter six times in a row can be difficult in terms of motivation.

But finally, after 2 months, all six save files have finally cleared Julia.

@Odybid: It should be noted that starters are not necessarily finishers, if you know what I mean.

Nickname Reservations:

Amazon:

HYCR0X: Noivern

Pyrrhon: Pidove

Honchy: Guess.

Ravenholts:

Odybid: Drapion(?)

Altantis:

vVjtZ6a.png

First order of business for Atlantis is to make Xiri less likely to die instantly against Julia.

WoB5z0o.png

Then Atlantis meets another user of bug Pokemon, and acquire a Kricketot,

mzObvR2.png

And a powerhouse is created.

CHGY7Rr.png

Other team members are caught as well, with most being fodder.

sTptQOz.png

Boss Fight #1: Fern

P6OSxrn.png70nJtfj.pngumKruq0.png

Note that the word "fight" is used loosely here.

Boss Fight 2: Aster and Eclipse:

WdUezEb.pngTZlRQCj.png

Again, "fight" is a very loose term. However...

WNQCb49.pngWFZYQuo.png

Now the true fight begins.

q6YlQSB.png

So far, so good...

BJ8EYpe.pngxxKHETV.png

Less good...

v2bktpf.png

And I forgot that Emolga has one stat that isn't terrible.

XCepM2U.png1Hi9tAu.png

Those two go down easily enough afterwards...

EyPz0Ov.png

Which brings us to the ace.

Spinarak gets off two Scary Faces...

ovdduYB.png

Butterfree lands a Poisonpowder...

bhxzQJM.png1DFIIxs.png

And Xiri finishes the fight.

Avalon:

5jEyd2q.pngtZmh1Re.png

Given the boxing of Secc, Avalon has a bit of difficulty in the early game...

SbiAVH7.pngut3OnJW.png

But Espurr is able to break through the first roadblock eventually, letting the team grow.

Fortunately, the weather happened to be stormy, and the team was able to expand further.

CkplwoE.png

Disregard the trade fodder for now, his stay is temporary...

Missed the battle transition, but Boss Fight 1:

xPexk6M.pngqhBBMSz.png

l23A0II.png

Easy enough. Next up, Fodder fulfills his destiny:

jLtjwlC.png

Boss Fight 2:

cSsOjLV.pngYoZiBAj.png

Again, easy enough. Now, let's move on to Julia:

aWq29KU.pngERsbaVh.png

Alright, let's see how this team-

8tjr5on.png

...

Dammit...

5xn4Ohj.png

Attempt 2?

Fd6Qd1J.pngWWCcrKg.pngccHQxFY.png8VN11Zy.png6MsVvqS.png4jIZuY7.png

Alright, back to where we were before...

cmRuxaW.png

That attack did less than I had hoped...

q1IIoWe.pngTVJP7Mg.png

And with two strokes of luck, Avalon wins the day.

Gaia:

Gaia has a decent variety of options, including the only Pokemon that can break Julia's field...

aWsVNSS.png

Which can be taken away by an unlucky round of RNG.

Z2wHLrS.png

This is the team that's used for the time being...

oYJUVM4.png

Boss Fight 1:

npWXDsd.png

Easy enough.

Uy3OHKq.png

Igglybuff event complete...

62YFMv2.png

Could be worse. Perish song is nice to have as well.

Boss Fight 2:

1GwaVbX.pngFS2r3lQ.png

Fern is utterly useless while Dark Desire destroys the delinquents.

e2bszNp.png6ZFBs97.png

Boss Fight 3:

NAsBN70.pngFaioH97.pngZN3IVRl.png

It's significantly easier to win when you can deal Super Effective damage, I find.

VUCunOI.pngUk21qU8.png

Get rid of the one Pokemon that can't be OHKO'd...

d6ak5wV.png

Resume...

bvyWbgr.png

Aaaaaaaaand...

2Cg1aQf.png

Done.

I apologize for the double post, but it wouldn't let me post all the images I needed to. If anyone can tell me how to merge these posts, that would be appreciated...

Phantom Vulcan:

PLroMuS.png

There's a good side and a bad side to the weather...

The good side:

ItWyTCW.png

Reignited doesn't need to solo the first part of the game.

m5OaPP5.png

The bad side is that Phantom Vulcan only has fire Pokemon, and it's raining.

MqD24Ey.png9oy2eUm.pngNuBbMtR.pngUkhbyoX.png

But even in the rain, the two fire monkeys can take down the grass specialist.

7xgZZHa.png

Given the limited team members, Phantom Vulcan will likely have a little bit more trouble with this fight...

0tASWGh.png

Let's try and remove one variable from the equation for a while...

ouAC5ua.png

FERN YOU IDIOT!

SLyTB2h.png

Fortunately, all there is left to do is clean up...

u101ZDu.png

Game. Now, one last fight before a few new members can be recruited.

T1Fttbn.png5Ve5Mno.png

And we desperately need new members...

MfFoCcf.png

Dammit...

FGLKs5s.pngemEHyyd.pngi4bcDMt.png

Alright...

UsKSdIU.png

Use Pansear as heal fodder and hope for the best?

u8kf4MV.pngct55yTG.png

Yes!

The Ravenholts:

U1JQYpI.png

The Ravenholts also have a fair number of potential recruits. A small force is built up in no time.

emHApA9.png

Boss Fight 1:

ewllLSz.png

Given Fern's lineup, I decide to set 2 layers of Toxic Spikes for Snivy.

tBg7UQy.pngQxluzw6.png

Which works out quite nicely.

2uEGMe7.png

Poocheyna gets off two Sand Attacks...

NmsLHd8.png

And Trubbish cleans up.

Second Boss Fight:

sp5tWBx.png

Kaito drops two servings of Leech Seed...

tysz11A.png

Fern is generally useless aside from being fodder...

aeoPfv1.pngbSE8yBw.png

And everything gets cleaned up in the end.

piGuSlg.pngO4H9MmK.png

Third Boss Fight!

Dq4TyST.png

Toxic Spikes set...

iznL8zE.pngDdh8EF0.png

Emolga successfully baited and removed...

y25CpYg.pngA3x6oNn.png

2z5GtVb.png

Bite does much more than I was expecting, which is nice.

9Q85G9j.png

Mightyena deals a decent amount of damage to Electrode on the way out...

K6uFsyY.png

And although Leech Seed + Toxic isn't as powerful as it was back in Red...

zgRY86x.png

It's enough to finish the fight.

Amazon:

lVTQqA7.png

Contrary is so great in the early game...

BvtE6Zj.png

First Boss Fight:

Jr1t8cs.png

Predictable...

oiamBTB.pngZyWko7a.png

Bazaro is much smarter than Fern's Snivy.

hcobte5.png

And Woobat and Bazaro take out Budew together.

Boss Fight 2:

To my shame, many of the images to my own nation's battle were lost.

IkprQm2.png

But we won, so that should count for something...

2ELizAW.pngZmVhF3a.png

Last Julia fight...

iWEmu2N.png

Not a bad start...

WJgF7mp.png0lHLQvb.png

Actually, that's a pretty good start...

IJdrwb1.pngsSo3Mw8.png

Voltorbs down...

FMvz8cl.png

Blitzle down, at the cost of more paralyzation.

CyqLPup.pngkRiINNm.png

So, let's try this to ease the pressure...

GOIg7Gp.png

And Butterfree bought enough time to heal Bazaro.

oCzjH5r.png

That's the last of it, folks! Thanks for the read!

  • 2 weeks later...

@TheDW66: A solid choice. With Psybeam, Signal Beam, Nasty Plot, and Tri-Attack in its learnset, the Porygon line has the potential to see quite a bit of use.

Amazon:

HYCR0X: Noivern

Pyrrhon: Pidove

Honchy: Guess.

Gaia:

The DW: Porygon

Ravenholts:

Odybid: Drapion(?)

I suppose I forgot to list the difficulty rankings of the last episode. All playthroughs were relatively easy through the first rival battles and the factory gauntlet, so this ranking will be based off of the Julia fight.

6. Gaia Nation: Being the only team with access to a decent super effective move can do wonders for the difficulty curve, I find.

5. The Ravenholts: Between Toxic Spikes putting a timer on Julia's ace and an early fully-evolved Pokemon in Mighteyena to tear through the others, the battle went fairly smoothly.

4. Atlantis Nation: Kricketune tore through most of Julia's nicely, and not much was left for the rest of the team to pick off afterwards, despite the observed type disadvantage.

3. Amazon Nation: With some good RNG against Emolga and satisfactory matchups all around, Amazon was able to squeeze out a win on the first attempt.

2. Kingdom of Avalon: Barely winning on the second try due to good RNG, Kingdom of Avalon was the second hardest matchup against Julia.

1. Phantom Vulcan: No matter how you look at it, only being able to bring two Pokemon is bound to make things a bit more difficult...

Avalon:

At any rate, after the first badge is awarded, Victoria tells us about some bad gardening in Obsidia, then promptly blocks the path to do anything about it.

RVEhg2s.png

sA4sgEi.pngM1QKAMC.png8iAR37T.png

Aside from some evasion shenanigans by Ralts, the fight goes relatively smoothly.

fnEfIDl.png

Avalon gets lucky on their egg RNG, obtaining a Drowzee with Nasty Plot.

Next up is the Pokegang fight!

0kQZ16p.png

Simple Charge Beam is a powerful weapon...

dG4kvz9.png

But it's also a double-edged sword.

Nhk1Yoj.png

In the end, Woobat is the only one on the team left standing. (After a switch to reset accuracy.)

BoXTmso.png

Next, the fight with Cain...

NiJUGqO.png

Well... Let's just say that a team of Electrics and Psychics has a slight advantage over a team of Poisons and a Water.

1wiypV4.png

The power of friendship is astounding.

R5W21Bl.png

And so, we meet the 3-for-one villain.

EQQD8bL.png

Shimmer gives Swoobat some free turns to set up...

tRhja6b.png

And everything works out.

zlL2Mww.png

Avalon gambles away enough time to buy a Shinx...

0i7qqxt.png

And post-Fern, the team looks like this.

Now, Blitzle should be able to push through Ferroseed with Flame Charge. Swoobat has type advantage against everything else except-

6MOv3YP.png

Cradily...

Okay, new plan...

NnE94XB.png

Nice doggies...

And with one surviving Pokemon...

ox5drrp.png

Now, there's a one in three chance we get a bad move, a one in three chance we get a good move, and a one in three chance we get a great move.

I'll let you figure out what I mean.

8mLuodo.png

Round 2:

CntzkoN.png

Luxio effectively takes out Florinia's lead, removing her potions in the process. Swoobat cleans up.

McHNLSQ.png

Blitzle goes in to do his one job...

OesnCU2.png

And falls just short of the mark. Swoobat cleans once more.

1aHZreV.png

And then Cacnea gets cheeky with 2 crits on a 5-hit Pin Missile.

3Fi81xB.png

Twice.

Manectric cleans, then deals decent damage to Breloom with its elemental Fang...

dS0EUwl.png

Gets seeded in the process.

eEFmSKS.png

Florinia switches...

bdChXhT.png

This Spoink is used as heal fodder...

QkG234R.png

And Breloom is finished off. Both sides are now down to the last 'mon.

JIQuQ1P.png

This could be a bit of a-

COEK5Db.png

...

Ah...

ZrCiPsp.png0NZ8bcp.png

And once more, Avalon wins on their second attempt thanks to the blessings of the RNG!

Gaia:

Upon hearing about the plant crisis, Gaia immediately rushes over to ensure the most important building remains intact.

ZwouBO1.png

Relieved, they grab some cotton candy whose relevance to the run may or may not depend entirely on the contents of a certain egg...

dwZYmzC.png

and push past a very concerned Victoria to investigate the source of the disturbance.

iZtO7jN.png

They encounter a foolish Pokegang.

FUnhHjH.png

There were no survivors.

I20nnRR.png

Against Cain...

omPvsLp.pngCQKMNwj.png00aWaTs.pngkWKOTlx.png

There were fewer survivors.

Q8bkmd1.png

Finally, the Gaians came face to face with the abomination causing the disaster...

pIARKPY.png

It took all of three turns to subdue the beast.

dH5A97h.png

After the culprit ran off, the Gaians prepared for the upcoming gym fight.

RherDTp.png

The surprise adoption of a stray Litleo nearly ended in failure...

4RqChBp.png

But after defeating a giant mechanical thing on the ninth try the cub decided to join them.

vy1KraU.png72IiUBJ.png

After defeating Fern's cronies, the team was ready to fight!

GTdv3av.png

Fearow allowed exactly one layer of Spikes to be placed before removing Maractus.

fmKL29k.png

Breloom failed to do anything remarkable.

SvdfSYy.png

As did Ferroseed.

h2MY5wO.png

As did Cacnea.

p1kX7w0.png

Cottonee made the mistake of poisoning a Guts Raticate...

lmli1VD.png

And the noble Dark Desire fought off Florinia's Cradily.

jzrzjWY.pngGJoNIaC.png

With minor assistance.

Phantom Vulcan

WDnxysO.png

Now, I'll be honest here...

It was sunny while I was doing Phantom Vulcan's playthrough.

So I thought I would just see how far I could get with the "set everything on fire" strategy.

5IxgP36.pngKO7Cnkf.png

For these two, it went fairly well...

5OhJ7ft.png

But sometimes you need to let the fists do the talking.

xVD0mjd.png

Against the Pokegang, the "click Mach Punch" strategy was employed with relative success. (with switching to reset Intimidate drops)

OVZWjzB.png

Next was Cain. The plan was "Magnitude everything."

U8eQRLz.png

Then Grimer got cheeky.

ENJYpx6.png

Fortunately, fire is always an option.

CvVClrY.png

Oshawott wasted its only chance by using Focus Energy before getting 2HKO'd by Mach Punch...

HOf1GEq.png

Magnitude did its thing eventually...

pnQ8myk.png

But Flame Burst proved itself to be much more reliable.

COuCnZT.png

And then a Litleo was saved by causing a minor cave-in.

AcVsi8F.png

And so began the true test of the "set that thing on fire" strategy.

mbvjLxK.png

Numel did a bunch of damage.

MTXoWuO.png

And Reignited took all the credit.

azi0gop.png

One last fire type was picked up...

yGG8Jbi.pngNcPrVVM.png

And "Operation Set Everything On Fire and Punch the Cradily" was set into motion.

zJ6LnfO.png

One layer of Spikes was set.

IBHIEcr.pngSLGxcsA.png

Breloom provided some resistance...

WFkzExk.png

But eventually fell as well.

Yoksy0y.png

Ferroseed exhibited its highly flammable properties...

2iRBtBJ.png

Whereas Cacnea used evasive tactics, eventually falling to Slugma.

vsQAPeA.png

Who also removed Cottonee.

CVeUnfl.png

And lastly...

G5Wzf8M.png

The behemoth did fall.

vYeWL8L.pngcaMEg4d.png

Second portion of Episode 2 to come soon due to image limits.
