I would've posted this earlier, to be honest, but after realizing how similar my initial design was in to Stratos in terms of aesthetic, I had to make some major modifications. Do tell me of things I need to fix, for I wasn't in the most cogitatious mood doing it.

Anyways, here goes.

Character Name: Baixue Yan (Baixue having two syllables)

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: By virtue of her namesake, Baixue’s complexion is a pale, albeit fair, white. Her hair takes the unusual mix of light blue, turquoise and lush green, blended together harmoniously, heavily resembling that of an aurora. A fringed braid runs down her left shoulder, down to her relatively bosomy chest. Her eyes are of a luminescent heliotrope that heavily contrasts the rest of her features, her sharp, avian-esque nose particularly standing out. Her attire mostly comprises of a white wool garment with a scarf made of white fox fur, inherited from her family on her sixteenth birthday.

Backstory:

“An avian’s trust is not in the branch beneath her.” – Baixue

Baixue Yan was born the happy child under the guidance and care of her grandmother and mother, who were ancient, respected prophets of their tribes in Aquillo. While her father had passed away a short while after her birth, the tragedy did not stop the widowed mother and grandmother who had lost her son from raising Baixue in a happy life. They were all strong worshippers of the great Coerator Aqui, the seemingly mythical being entertaining the young girl in every story of folklore and history her guardians would shower her with.

Vastly enchanted and inspired by the ancient stories of the Falcon, the adventurous Baixue would wander the lands in search of anything distinct from the white that plagued the lands. As much as the Aqui was foretold with the power to quell the harshest storms that had aggravated the lands, Baixue was one to overcome challenges. The harsh tundra environment did little to ruffle her sleeves or perseverance, a blade of grass firm against the harshest breeze as she set out on her own every cold winter morning, in search to satiate her innocent curiosity and lust for knowledge for what belied out there, the many wonders unnoticed by people. Long had she desired and yearned for a chance to see the world beyond the glacial vicinity of Aquillo; yet mere courage could not assist Baixue in traversing the harsh divide that separated their tribal home from the amazing outside world that she knew awaited her.

It was foretold on one fateful day that the once in a blue moon occurrence of an aurora would appear in the late night, but the harsh conditions of the winter meant that the people of the tribe were forbidden from attempting a witness. The night of said aurora’s appearance had spurred her to sneak out late at night despite earnest warnings from her family not to do so. And it was with the apt saying that curiosity would kill the cat that an accident occurred one day when a careless step that sent her falling down a cliff as she closed in for a closer glimpse of the aurora, her surroundings a blur, and only feeling the force of the imminent fall as she plunged downward --

As she struggled in the air, however, she found herself stopped from the imminent collision, slowly rising above. She knew not who had saved her. She remembered herself floating into the air, a respite amidst suffering, miraculously saving her from that ordeal. With her hands outspread, she had discovered her newfound power, awakened in that unexpected moment of danger. Her eyes sharpened and she could see the faintest traces of stone and scenes curtained by the heavy draping of ice, snow, and wind. Much like the stories and every dream she made of the great avian who had repelled the gusts, she now soared freely amidst that harsh world of cold, frost and frigid misery.

Gifted with such newfound power, the girl stood in a mix of surprise and excitement. Perhaps the great of spirit of the great Aqui had come for her then? The very being that enchanted her bedtime stories since youth?

With new bestowment of the Lumen that granted her ability to pursue her ideals, she returned to her family with her newfound pair of wings. Both joyous and flabbergasted of Baixue's abilities, her family and her tribe rejoiced for this newfound blessing of the great Aqui. As Baixue expressed her fervent desire to travel the world, and sad as everyone was of their beloved child's departure, Baixue was finally given the permission to set out on her own -- of course, Baixue would never abandon her homeland, however, and vowed to return every now and then to share the many magnificent tales she would experience and garner. Her grandmother had given her a first clue to exit the tundra regions that led to the east, where lands devoid of snow and the first magnificent sunrise would await her.

All birds had to leave their nest eventually, and Baixue would be the pride of their tribe as her wings soared high into the horizon that would meet her as she reached her destination.

Personality: A nomadic figure, Baixue is a passionate wanderer who pereginates from place to place to expose herself to the new and idiosyncratic, having spent most of her life under the snowy, stagnant lands of Aquillo. Eager, prideful, and aggressive, she is very self-confident in her abilities and constantly engages in the learning of new things to expand her capabilities and knowledge. Such habits have led her to become a perceptive, resourceful, innovative and intelligent being.

Lumen: Baixue is bestowed upon the gift of flight; however, she cannot fly in an upright position and must maintain her trajectory and balance with her forelimbs outspread. However, she is continuously training to overcome such limitations, currently being able to maintain her flight for a few moments while being able to perform other actions such as martial attacks in mid air, and can easily regain her balance just by spreading her arms. Such an aerodynamic position, in turn, however, grants her superior speed and resistance to heavy air currents, enabling her to soar freely even amongst the harshest blizzard winds that plague Aquillo. Her flight speed is relatively fast and she can fly at relatively powerful heights, though she seeks to improve her limits with every day. Baixue also has enhanced receptive abilities, having vision that is unobscured by obstacles and heavy fog, matching the strength accuracy of the eagles and falcons she so admired, as well as slightly advanced reflexes; she is also capable of carrying a small person behind her during her flight.

Weapon: Due to the nature of her Lumen, Baixue incorporates the use of taloned, sharp steel leggings on her boots. These not only grant her feet a certain degree of protection (though can be mildly difficult to walk in), ease in landing but are also capable of inflicting powerful scratches on opponents and ignite sparks and small fires upon friction with objects such as rock and wood, which she how she keeps warm in the snowy lands when alone.

Yes, this is the first time I'm going to RP a female, because of my personal need and aim to be idiosyncratic and stop using the same elements when making characters.

Also, to people who recognize the name's origins, yes, that is Chinese, Chinese for "Snow Sparrow". Just interpret it as a sort of tribal, unique name, ty

WIP Sheet:

Character Name: Jev'ona Lekoniska

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: In his Human form, he defaults to being roughly two meters tall and having blue eyes, short brown hair, light tan skin, and bushy eyebrows. He also has a small red birthmark on his left arm in the shape of a spiral.

Backstory: (The characters are present in the center continent named Medulla.)

Jev'ona's parents were middle-class people, with his father being a doctor and his mother being a zoologist, and both of them lived in a forest in western Aurora. Even from a young age, he felt a connection with nature, often spending time around a small river that ran through their backyard. This is how he ended up first being encountered by Laiak, the Coerator who would end up giving him Lumen. Their first encounter showed Laiak how much Jev cared for nature, with the then thirteen-year-old boy risking his life and ruining his clothing to rescue a bobcat kitten from where it was stranded in the middle of the river in their backyard. Sure, he might've received a few scratches from the kitten when it initially panicked in the process, but he was successful in relocating the kitten to the other side of the waterway in the process.

A series of several other incidents over the course of the next year gave Laiak a further understanding of the boy, which was positive enough to make the Coerator decide that Jev was worthy of wielding Lumen. So, the otter set a series of events in motion that would give the boy Lumen. Laiak started off by creating two metallic bars and then infusing them with some Lumen, making sure to remember the signature of the lumen used. Then, he strung the bars together with some string, and brought the apparatus he'd made over to the river. Then, he intentionally tangled himself up in it, stuck the bars partway into the ground, and waited, making a fake distress signal once he noticed Jev come out of the house. It was enough to catch the boy's attention, and the guy quickly hurried over to the side of the otter, not suspecting that it was Laiak. In order to make it seem real, Laiak pretended to struggle in an attempt to get out, and Jev did what he would normally do in a situation like this: try to calm down the animal so that he'd have an easier time untangling it from the string. He ended up being successful, even removing the strings from the bar in the process to make his job even easier. However, he was caught off-guard when Laiak didn't run away, but instead pulled the bars up from the ground and placed his front paw on the young man's leg, gifting him with some Lumen that had the signature he'd made sure to remember. The boy felt a small warmth spreading through him for a few seconds, and started to panic a little, but it was then that Laiak took his paw off of the Jev's leg, and placed the two metallic bars in front of the boy, and then walked off into the river, disappearing by quickly swimming downstream. Jev was a little confused at this turn of events, but ended up taking the metal bars home with him, keeping them on his person at all times from that day forwards.

A few months later, Jev was feeling a bit bold, and decided to go climbing one of the cliffs on a nearby mountain. What he didn't expect to do, however, is discover what powers that he'd gained from his encounter with Laiak. He'd successfully gotten to the summit of the mountain, and was descending on one of the cliff-faces, when he lost his grip and started falling. Panicking, he wildly grabbed outwards, and grabbed onto a new handhold. What happened next surprised him, and showed him that he'd unlocked something new. When he looked at his arm, he saw that not only was it about half as thick as it normally was, it was also twice as long. Stunned by this new development, he just hung there for a few seconds processing what had just happened. As he did so, he was struck with an idea: what if he tried something else? To see what happened, the boy closed his eyes and imagined his legs stretching down to the ground. When he opened his eyes again, he saw that his thoughts had indeed translated over to reality, as he was now firmly planted on solid ground, his feet at the base of the cliff. Intrigued, he tried moving a nearby rock with his mind, and was met with utter failure. Rolling his eyes and letting go of the cliff, he imagined himself returning to his normal shape, and was met with himself changing to fit that mental image. However, as he did so, he noticed that the bar on the right side of his hip changed shape in sync with his left arm. Now fully intrigued, he imagined his right arm oscillating between longer and shorter than normal, and saw that the bar on the left side of his hip changed shape in sync with his right arm. Stopping his experimentation, he decided to do further testing and honing of this newfound power at a later point, heading home because it was starting to get dark.

Fast-forward to now, and he's going to the Lightbringer Camp in Medulla to learn how to properly hone his skills in a place that is conducive to his learning of Lumen manipulation, much to his parents' chagrin. Their annoyance is thanks to the negative views of Lightbringers in society.

Personality: He's a highly adaptable fellow, and tries his best to roll with whatever life throws at him. He's optimistic, inquisitive, and semi-naïve, but also highly intelligent at the same time. However, he sometimes jumps to conclusions that can be wrong, and he can get a bit caught up in his emotions at times.

Lumen: Shapeshifting. He can change his body into whatever form he desires, so long as he keeps his mass constant. That means that if he wants to go smaller, he'll have to increase his overall density proportionally, and the opposite is true for going larger. Additionally, he has to be conscious in order to maintain his shape. If knocked out, he'll ooze back into his default human form. He also must keep his eye color the same as his human form if the form he takes on has eyes. (Additionally, if his form doesn't have eyes, then he'll be blind. He figured that one out the hard way...) Those limitations are immutable, as they are an integral part of what his Lumen is. The next parts can only be overcome with lots of training. If whatever form he takes on has genders based on the individual, he's forced into being a male of that species. Furthermore, he's guaranteed to have his birthmark pattern somewhere on him, which is further guaranteed to be in the same location if the general shape of the form he's currently got can be topologically deformed into something humanoid. He can make his clothing change shape with him if he so desires, as a small perk. While he does have a decent supply of Lumen to work with, it's not unlimited, and if he runs out of Lumen to use, he's stuck in the form he's got until he regenerates enough or goes unconscious, whichever comes first. At the moment, he can only mimic carbon-based materials, though this may change with enough training.

Weapon of Choice: He generally prefers to use a pair of metallic batons that are forearm-length for him, no matter what form he takes on thanks to being infused with the same Lumen that he controls. They were a gift to him from the Coerator that gave him his power, and they automatically change size and density along with him when he changes shape.

This should be fine - I'd like to keep an eye on how your shapeshifting works, as unrestricted shapeshifting is incredibly dangerous for health. Apart from that, there's one slight error with the world - and feel free to blame me for this. If I am reading it correctly, your events occur in Aurora; however, Laiak the Otter resides in Medulla due to his love for companionship and interest in human culture. You may want to change the location to Medulla to reflect this. I apologize; I should have outlined where every Coerator is. Laiak is the most logical conclusion to give for your personality, so you are lucky there.

Character Name: Hassar, Ghost of the Steppes

Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: A young man with wide, green eyes and long black hair with soft silver bells tied into it. His skin is a dark tan from so long spent outdoors, and he is wiry but well musceled. He dresses in light leather and fur armor, with tribalist robes over it when not in combat. He also wears a gray-green mottled cloak and a pack in the same colors when riding or when stealth is necessary. All of his clothing appears to be natural and handmade. His horse is chestnut brown, named Swift.

Personality:

Hassar doesn’t talk much. Having grown up in the forests, mountains and plains of southern Aurora, he never really needed to.

He is a strong believer that every natural thing in the world has a conscious - and this includes Lumen. He often feels more at home within nature than with other people. The consciousness of plants and animals interest him so much more, as they don’t have the petty schemes for power and riches that humans do. He connects with them on a spiritual level, and can tell from body language what certain animals want him to know, especially wolves.

A great and avid hunter, he strives for peace between man and nature, and only takes what he needs from his hunts, while also wasting nothing. Due to his time in the forests, he is also a great tracker and can find pretty much anyone if he has seen the tracks before. He regrets to take the lives of animals and plants but knows he must do so to survive, and often says a short ritual under his breath before or after killing. Human lives, he regrets taking far less. He understands plants and their uses, medically as well as practically. He is fiercely loyal to those allied with him, but only if he believes they are worthy of it.

He often spends his days in the woods, away from people with his Pack and meditates there to gather a feeling of closeness with his Lumen.

As such, he is a bit socially awkward and tries to distance himself from the ways of men, believing that they only get close because they want something from him.

Backstory:

A tragic accident left Hassar stranded in the forests of Aurora at the age of seven. He quickly learned that it was either learn how to survive, or resign himself to death. Choosing to survive, he quickly learned how to gather food and water good enough to drink.

After months of living this way, he happened upon a wolf pack tearing into a dead merchant on an old, long forgotten road. Being as silent as he could, he made his way into the merchant's carriage and stole the food within. He ate good that night, and fed the wolves as well, who accepted him as one of their own because he did not fear them. The only thing of worth the merchant had other than food was a set of knives and matching daggers, made of a dark black, glassy substance that he later learned to be obsidian.

One day, a new wolf appeared in the pack. The other wolves seemed to want to kill it, but Hassar held them back. He saw the wolf had a broken leg, and within the month he had it fully recovered as a member of his pack. Little did he know that that wolf was actually Paoi, the Corerator, and for his kindness and loyalty he was granted the power of the forest. His knives would no longer miss, as plants would grow or dissolve to guide their course. He more easily found the herbs needed to heal himself and the pack, even without looking for them. Natural shelters seemed to craft themselves whenever he tired. Noticing these odd things starting to happen, he turned to the wolf, (who he later learned from legends to be Paoi) but (s)he(?) was no longer there. It took years for him to learn how to fully control these abilities, as he did so on his own, and in all that time he searched for the wolf to give thanks. He never found him(her?).

Rumors soon spread of the Ghost of the Steppes who lived in the forests of Aurora, and many came to find him. He let them search, uncaring, as he had no intention of leaving his forest to only serve their selfish ambitions. One even left their horse behind in their fit of rage at going out there for nothing. This was how he met Swift. Swift was a brown chestnut mare, and the Pack had wanted to tear into her as they had to the first merchant so long ago. Hassar could see the sadness in her eyes however, and explained to the Pack the situation and how it could aid them, in his own, roundabout way. Eventually the horse was given a shelter of it’s own and contributed to the Pack by allowing Hassar to keep up with the wolves in full sprint.

Not long after the appearance of Swift, a battle began raging near the forest in which they dwelled, and Hassar left to see why. In his scouting, he was very close to being discovered by a well built man in a blue tunic, and he drew a knife and impaled him through the leg. Upon descending from the tree he was hidden in, he questioned the man (from out of his line of sight) about the battle and soon learned that it was part of the war between humans and monsters over Lumen. Not quite understanding, he observed the battle from up higher, and noticed that the humans were indeed fighting things that he had never seen before. The man explained to him that there was a resistance growing in the south, and if he was to help he must go now.

Having guessed that Lumen was the power that the wolf had granted him, and still in his(her?) debt, he and Swift rode through the forests, south, with the Pack at their heels. He wanted to do this to both protect him(her?) and continue to train his abilities. On his way, he took on the traditions of a plains-people that respected and worshipped wolves by tying a small silver bell, of his own craft, in his hair for each monster that he killed. For every fiftieth, the bells would be removed and replaced with a single golden one. The bells would make no noise unless he wished them to, due to the living nature of the plants within them.

Lumen: Hassar can grow and revert plantlife at will, which allows for a variety of effects, from healing to fighting to protection, and so on, at the price of some of his lumen. Growing life that takes longer amounts of time to reach where he wants them to be expends more lumen, and as such, growing something such as mahogany tree to it’s full height will exhaust him. Most plants tend to connect to his subconscious directly for their first few minutes of existence, and will afflict him with phantom pains when they are harmed, especially through the use of something such as fire.

Weapon of Choice: Obsidian Daggers and Knives used both for close and long range fighting. He can coat them in a variety of natural based poisons, from paralyzing, to killing or just to instill fear in whoever is struck, etc. that he obtains through secretions from various plantlife and animal parts.

Accepted - you know the things you need to change.

Character Name: Haruki Kita

Age: 17

Gender: Male?

Appearance: Notably shorter than average with a fairly slim build. He's rather androgynous in appearance, and his relative fondness for bright and flamboyant clothing only adds to this impression. His hair is a bit under shoulder length, and the color actually varies from day to day based on a small application of his Lumen. His eyes vary similarly, though less often due to requiring more focus to adjust without inadvertently blinding himself temporarily. He claims not to remember the original color of either, and they'll stay modified when he sleeps. (If he was knocked out, they'd revert, though.) Haruki looks younger than he actually is to most people.

Backstory: Haruki was born in Occasus seventeen years ago, to a family in rather unfortunate circumstances. What these exact circumstances were, he does not recall; he remembers little of his parents (or at least claims such) and only refers to them as "terribly boring" or similar when asked - him and his sister Kimiko have lived in an orphanage for most of their lives. A certain fox saw this situation and decided to gift Haruki with Lumen to help him along when he came of age. His misfortune, however, seemed to continue rather than abate after this fact; the signs of his gift were recognized fairly quickly by some less than scrupulous individuals in the city. The place was quite technologically driven; this resulted in a dangerous blend of disrespect and mistrust of Lightgivers and a strong curiosity about how, exactly, the mysterious phenomenon worked.

He was whisked off to a private facility where said individuals decided to investigate what exactly went on with Lumen and how it worked, with little regard given to things like Haruki's physical and mental state after their experiments concluded. He doesn't really like to talk about what, exactly, happened to him during those years, but the society's bias against Lightgivers didn't do much to alleviate his situation, to put it gently; this time is another thing referred to as "totally lame" or similar. Fortunately, however, he did manage to extricate himself from this situation (something about a "death ray" convincing the experimenters that keeping him around was a bad idea) and happened to run across a recruiter, searching for talented young Lightgivers to train up for greater purposes. . .

Personality: Haruki is actually quite cheery and almost absentminded, prone to wandering physically, mentally, and conversationally. He has a sharp intellect, almost intimidatingly so, though it can be difficult to tell due to his near inability to stay on one topic. He is quite curious and prone to asking questions, and has an excellent memory for the answers to these questions and more; it's getting him to actually apply this that's the difficult part. Haruki doesn't like to sit and ponder dilemmas; he'll tend to just follow his gut, doing what he feels to be right.

Lumen: He possesses an ability some would call light manipulation. The nuance is a bit more narrow than that; he can control the reflectivity and refractivity of anything that's within about an inch or two of him, including parts of his own body. For example, he can take a plain sheet of paper and use it as a perfect mirror, or spend a bit more time focusing on it to do more complex tricks like forming images on a surface or projecting them with a lens.

Weapon of Choice: More of a tool to assist using his power, he carries around a few "lenses" that are just circular pieces of glass. He usually uses his powers to misdirect, harass, or annoy any opponents when it comes to physical combat, but can focus light sources onto a target - a potent ability when outdoor.

Accepted.

Character Name: Rame Nero
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: A lean and hearty girl with a pale complexion, standing approximately 5'6" and 52Kg. An unkempt mop of hair whiter than virgin snow frames her face and extends down to her shoulders. Her eyes are a deep scarlet that seems to glint under certain lighting, her face heart shaped and marked by her straight, roman nose. She can almost always be seen wearing a pitch-black, fur trimmed jacket of hide and leather with dark colored attire.
Backstory: Born and raised in Aquillo. Rame's family had long been hunters and trappers of the tundra, subsisting on whatever they could bring down or forage in the bitter cold, seldom relying on anything other than their own wits and ingenuity to get by. Such was simply the way of things in the harsh and ever present grip of winter- either one learned self-sufficiency, or you perished of any number of otherwise trivial causes. Rame as a result grew up off the land, learning the layout of her home terrain from her parents and older siblings and being taught a vast myriad of survival techniques necessary to get by in the frigid wasteland. One thing she learned above all else though: Fire was king. Fire was life. In the tundra, so utterly devoid of heat and warmth, only the blazing hearth allowed men to eek out what little existence and hunter and gatherer could in that land. The second most important Lesson: Her family and people were all she had, and she ever would have in this place... to keep the songs and customs of their home alive would be to keep the memories of the dead as well.
And so it was that the fondest memories Rame has of home is none other than those times she sat around the fire, joining in folk songs and tales of days long since gone by. She has an especial fondness for music, and given several of her sisters had fashioned and learned traditional instruments themselves, it wasn't long until she asked one of them to help her craft her own, whittling away a strong branch, meticulously working it into functional shape, sparing no attention to detail as she tuned it, modified it and tweaked, carved and engraved the intricate patterns of snowfall, until at long last, her mandolin was complete. And in short time, she had already started to prove herself a prodigy with the thing, coming to know her way around the lute better than the back of her own hand, learning to adapt and play melodies the likes of which had taken her elder sisters years for their respective instruments, in mere months... much to the all the older girl's chagrin.
But their jealousy was not caused by her talent...no, well, at least not, her musical talent. No... what chagrined them was the fact that, whenever Rame played, or sang, the flames always responded in kind, rising and falling with the melody, spinning itself into roaring displays of dancing light and ember, all seemingly without Rame realizing it. Truly, everyone seemed aware of the phenomenon but her, mind only focused on the music she wove in the moment, not the flickering or dancing blaze of the fireplace. Infact, it was only after she had a spat with one of her brothers and nearly burned the boy with the agitated chord she strummed that she began to develop any inkling of what was going on.... the boy was alright enough, the worst of his injuries being slight burns to the hands and some singed hairs, but he never was quite able to put himself at ease around Rame afterwards. But regardless... it was obvious what it was, once she saw it for herself... She'd awakened her Lumen...
and it wasn't long before she started experimenting with the newfound ability...and got into another spat with another one of her siblings, one that made all those that had come before look like idle conversation over supper... years of resent and jealousy finally rising to a feverish pitch, tempers flaring and words flying until finally...the other girl pushed her. and rame pushed back, only to be struck for all she was worth, sprawling on the floor and feeling the taste of iron well in her mouth. and in the one moment...Rame let her anger get the better of her, and did what she swore she never would...the fire leapt, pounced like the savage wolf it was... and before she could even realize the horror of what she had done, take it back... stop it, just do anything to undo her handiwork, it was over, like that... one fleeting instant.
what was left of her sister... was nowhere near as lucky as their brother had been. Not at all.
and Her parents were nowhere near as forgiving about it either... nor was Rame to herself...
Personality: Rame is, quite simply put, the product of her environment and her folk. Pragmatic, stubborn, unflinching...tempered by the blistering cold, steady as the frozen mountains, just like the stock she was cut from. No matter the obstacle, the trial, the tribulation, just as her ancestors before her, she will endeavor and endure, adapt and endure; either whatever stands in her way will break first, or she will... there is no middle ground. To her, fire is a thing of beauty, a thing to respected, and Music one of expression and history. For flame gives life and warmth, flame keeps the winds of winter at bay and thaws the dead before the hearth. It makes raw sustenance edible, killed and purified corruption, spread light and illumination... just as easily as it can death and destruction. She holds almost as great a reverence a for the folktales and customs of her home continent and the Coerator Aqui, never one to suffer disrespect of either one, even in the slightest.
Lumen: Rame's Lumen allows her to create and control combustive force through use of rhythmic patterns and resonance... In other words, she can use music as a means to conjure and manipulate fire. Most often she accomplishes this through either the playing of her Mandolin or vocals, etc, and various aspects of the fire she makes is determined by the properties of the music fueling it, such as the propagation, size, heat, intensity, etc. and affected her emotional state to an extent as well.
Slower paced, less energized and more carefully wrought melodies or songs generally yield smaller, lower intensity flames that while lacking in destructive power compared to those of faster rhythms, are far more capable of being used for minute and complex tasks such as the creation of constructs, branding script into surfaces, light spectacles, etc and burn (pardon the pun) through Lumen at a lesser rate. Likewise, Higher paced, higher energy tunes will yield flames of considerably greater magnitude and intensity, raising with the beat of the song- but these flames will be vastly more difficult to control in any application beyond simply blasting targets or engulfing Rame's surroundings in a roaring inferno of dancing destruction and chaos, and also require greater amounts of her lumen to be exerted. Given the nature of her lumen, there is also a considerably high degree of heat-resistance to her abilities as well, protecting her from both her own fires and those created by any outside sources.
Her control of flames however, is not limited to just those she creates however, as naturally wrought or "mundane" fires are susceptible to it as well, adjusting themselves accordingly to her melodies. That said though, while Rame is technically capable of still calling on her Lumen even when without the ability to play or sing to create some type of music, both her control and the intensity of the resulting flames loses itself in bounds in such situations, as she will either have to simply play the rhythm she needs in her mind, or let her fires be at the mercy of an outside source of music- the former resulting in vastly inferior and dim flames due to the lack of actual audio feedback and tangible sound, while the latter leaves her the ability to direct her flames unhindered, but denies her the ability to do any sort of fine tuning to them to modify their intensity.
Weapon of Choice: Prodigious with a mandolin though she is, an instrument is no suitable armament in the frozen waste. Rame's actual weapon of choice is instead none other than a large, all metal Francisca, forged by her elder brother and engraved with the insignia of her family on one side of the axe head and the sigil of Coerator Aquil on the other as the last birthday gift she ever got. It's master craftsmanship is immediately apparent the moment one picks it up, bearing a sturdy weight and yet still being balanced enough for effective use as both a thrown and melee weapon. The handle is approximately the same length as her arm, following a gentle S like curve to provide better leverage both for strikes and throws, it's length wrapped in fine leather strips died the darkest of cherry reds while the blade shines a bright silver under sunlight. Rame always takes great pains to keep it in pristine condition, almost as much as her Mandolin- often times seen polishing or cleaning the blade whenever she's not busy strumming some tune.

I'd like to ask if you'd be okay with being restricted to manipulating flames of your own creation and small to medium average flames made through natural causes, but not fires made through Lumen-based means? Apart from that, this is perfectly fine, and for future reference your character was most likely blessed by Marius.

Character Name: Damon

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: Damon is 6'0 and thin, but being raised by a blacksmith he has a surprising amount of muscle. He has straight dark hair that falls just atop of his shoulders, and Blue eyes. His eyes were originally brown, but the next time that Damon looked in a mirror after his Lumen awakened they were blue. He has a cut scar on his right brow above his eye and on his right cheek that he sustained during his attack. Blue seemed to be the natural color to wear after his "change in character", so he typically wears a dark blue vest with a design on it. His attire may change a bit the further south he ventures though.

Backstory:

Damon was born and raised in Aquilo by his father who was a blacksmith in a small town that wasn't really big enough to have a name. His father taught him the smithing trade in his youth and planned for him to take over the family business one day. Damon was content with this, but always longed to one day use a sword, and wear the armor that his father made. So naturally he practiced with a sword in his youth, but his father didn't exactly approve, but didn't forbid him from doing so.

When Damon reached 15 his father felt that he was capable enough to go into the city to purchase materials for smithing and bring them back home on his horse. This was a successful setup for over a year and it Gave Damon a chance to get out more, and explore the city. Damon naturally explored the town and browsed other shops while he was out, but the bookstore in particular caught his attention. His parents owned a few books back at home, all of which he had either read a long time ago, or were rather boring. Damon bought quite a few books over his trips into town with the little spare money his parents gave him. One book in particular excited him, which detailed the events that passed when Aqui the Falcon warded off the great blizzard.

Damon was riding home in the afternoon from buying supplies in the city when he was surrounded by a gang of raiders from the coast. Raiders rarely even ventured this far north, but that wasn't really Damon's primary concern. He was forced to dismount and fight, unfortunately most of Damon's practice only worked in theory and he was quickly defeated and toyed with, before finally being left for dead.

But Damon did not plan on dying in some snowdrift in the middle of nowhere. He did his best to staunch his bleeding and tried to trek on through the cold, but even his best efforts weren't enough to get him far. It was far too cold. He was alone, cold, and angry. He crawled, his anger burned inside of him, but even that wouldn't be enough. Darkness soon began to take Damon as the shadows themselves begun to grow longer, and the temperature dropped further.

Damon was defeated and could go no further after the sun had set, so too had his hopes of surviving. But against all odds, he awoke. It was cold, and still dark. "How am I alive?" Was all that he could think, but he didn't question it. He had been given a second chance and he aimed to use it. As it turned out he wasn't that far from home by the time he saw the fires burning in the distance. His home... Damon rushed to the burning buildings as fast as he could, but it was too late. He found the slaughtered bodies of his family, and friends.

By the time an armed party arrived from the city to investigate the destroyed town they found Damon. His clothes were blackened and charred. The men took Damon into the city where he was healed. The lord of the keep didn't know what to do with him. It was horrid that his family was butchered, but Damon was clearly gifted in the process. Damon wanted revenge, but the lord wasn't about to send some kid after a gang of raiders, so instead the Lord decided to have him sent south where he could get ahold of his newfound ability.

Damon wasn't happy to have to head south to Medulla, but he saw the logic in the lord's words. At least the lord had given him a sword that his father had made. It was a longsword with hilt that had some word in another language or something engraved into it. While he was waiting for a ship so go south Damon had the opportunity to train with a master at arms, but ultimately had to leave before finishing his training. While training with sword, Damon also began to discover what his newfound ability could do. Though he was a little disappointed when he caught a training sword on fire, he was excited by that he could do. He found that he could generate a small, blue flame in his hand and even direct a small controlled stream of fire.

The harbor was on a schedule, and Damon had to depart to Medulla. The lord had a word with him about keeping his ability quiet on a large wooden ship made of wood, wood, and more wood...

Personality:

Damon was a rather normal kid growing up, but that all changed after the events that transpired when he was 16. Damon is an intense moralist, and although he sees the world for what it is he tries to make the best of it. He is as stubborn as a rock, but surprisingly open minded when it comes to just about anything reasonable. Damon's lowborn status didn't exactly supply him with much in terms of ground breaking knowledge, but he is a fast learner and adapts quickly.

As one could expect, Damon adapted to his surroundings. Damon grew even quieter when he wasn't consumed by anger. He is smart enough to know that being angry won't accomplish anything so he tries his best to control it. Damon became much more reserved and cynical over the past year.

Lumen:

Fire, what a surprise. How else would Damon have survived without it? The fire that burns inside of him isn't exactly going to let Damon hurl any fireballs at people, any time soon, but he can produce a stream of fire. During Damon's brief time training he noticed that his fire seemed to change in accordance with his emotions. If he was pissed off his fire was larger and less controllable. If he was calm, it was smaller but more controllable.

Damon's lumen also allows him to superheat something in contact with his hands, like his sword blade, or water, anything that he can throw, or another person...

Weapon of Choice: A Longsword that his father made for the Lord of the neighboring city that was gifted to Damon before he was sent off to learn of his new found abilities.

I am worried about the overlap between yours and Rame's Lumen, but considering the differences in place, I'm leaning towards allowing it.

Character Name: Valor Igyllmrn

Age: 18.

Gender: Male.

Appearance: On the taller side at ~1.8 meters with a neat appearance, has a preference for formalwear and white gloves that leans towards the aristocratic side of the fashion spectrum. Has short, black, neatly combed hair with a well-kept fringe and generally sharp features. He rarely opens his eyes, but when he does, they're milky white. He favors black, formal footwear with hard wooden bases that make clopping sounds when they hit the floor. If dressing up for some occasion, he will wear a top hat in addition to his other accoutrements. He has a reserved smile on his face pretty much all the time, despite whatever he might actually be feeling.

Backstory:

Born in Medulla to a rich family, introduced at a young age to high society, Valor should have been in a prime position to become one of those successful heirs who would live off inheritance and spend their days idling around, pursuing varied forms of leisure and entertainment. A dandy, if you will. Unfortunately, his congenital blindness interfered with this process, and he instead became the shame of his family. They could hardly keep his existence a secret from their peers, having proudly paraded his mother's swelling stomach around during the middling stages of her pregnancy. So it was that they raised him and taught him to conduct himself as a member of their class, but they never brought him along to social events to practice his manners. His birthdays were solitary, uncelebrated affairs. When circumstances dictated that he should have to meet someone else, he was given strict instructions to say and do nothing, and to keep his eyes closed and his lips smiling. In this manner, they managed to pass off his blindness as mere meekness, and avoided the ridicule - or worse, pity - of their peers.

Of course, when their second child arrived, a young girl in perfectly good health, they stopped caring about him. They raised her to be the heir instead. They showered her with love and affection, taught her to be a proper lady, showed her off to their friends and colleagues. Her birthdays were racuous affairs, with no expense spared to make her happy. On these occasions, too, Valor was not allowed to leave his room. He had never met his younger sister; his parents kept even his existence a secret from her. No need to involve the future heir in the shame of the previous generation. Valor understood this, and he accepted this. After all, he knew no alternative.

Though he was born blind, years of practice and reliance forced him to learn to use his ears in their place. He could pick out even the slightest sounds, the slightest vibrations, those normally thought inaudible, and used this data to in place of sight data to navigate. His ears and his hearing were far more powerful than a normal person's, yet he grew to love silence. He grew to love the orchestra that existed in silence, the whistling of the air through the window, the slight creaking of the bedframe, the scurrying of insects along the walls. When humans spoke, it was loud and noisy. When nature sang it was soft and calming. He learned to love the silence which he was forced to live in.

It was on his 18th birthday that his parents finally realised his abnormal observational skills were born from something more than his disability, when they entered his room with a cake and were promptly greeted by the following statement:

"Mother, Father. You feel kinder than usual today. It's a nice feeling."

It took a few moments for them to process the meaning of Valor's words, but then they quickly understood the possibility of his possession of Lumen - emotion was hardly something that could be identified through sound alone, especially when neither of them had said anything. From that perspective, his supernatural ability to hear his sister sneezing in he room on the other end of the mansion suddenly made much more sense. Secure in their conviction, they sent him off to learn the proper use of his abilities, justifying it by claiming to be acting in his best interests, while secretly glad to finally find a humane way to escape the burden of a disabled child.

Naturally, through his ability, Valor was aware of their relief and joy, but he went without complaint, doing as his parents asked. That was, after all, the only way of life he knew. Besides, he was an invalid. If his departure would allow his parents and sister to rest at ease, he saw no reason to refuse.

Personality: Quiet and reserved, with a calm and analytical mind. Despite his blindness, or perhaps because of it, he is a very observant individual, taking notice of every minute change in the environment around him, a sense born out of the necessity to use sound and touch as substitutes for sight. This has further developed through his few social interactions into a form of observation that takes note of changes in breathing, temperature, and tone of voice to ascertain the desired response. Socially, he is an amiable and friendly individual, but he will rarely, if ever, elect to proactively start an interaction. Even if someone does manage to start a conversation with him, they will find him to be a bit distant, if accommodating.

Lumen: Valor's Lumen allows him to perceive and process any and all changes in the environment around him. This means he can hear even the tiniest sounds, like the wingbeats of a fly, but it also extends to abstract concepts: he can sense intangible things like significant changes in emotion, or shifts in intention. The flipside is that this ability is always active, and receiving too much data at once can disorient him temporarily as he tries to identify which sources to filter out.

Weapon of Choice: His weapon of choice is a white cane of about the same length as his leg, a parting gift from his parents. It has an L-shaped, intricately carved top, and its shaft tapers downwards to a blunted point near the bottom. In addition to helping him find his way around and contributing to his aristocratic aesthetic, the cane can be used as a weapon for self-defence - made of a metal core surrounded by a wooden exterior, the head of the cane can be used as a bludgeoning tool, while the blunted point can be used to deliver precision blunt force trauma. Additionally, the L-shaped handle bears two concealed buttons - the first causes a sharp blade to emerge along the length of the cane, while the second fires a bullet along a concealed barrel that runs the length of the cane, with the bullets stored in a two-bullet chamber hidden in the cane's head.

((Whew that took a while. Let me know if anything needs changing, especially for the weapon; I don't know if guns are invented yet in your verse))

(((I honestly can't believe I'm submitting a male character)))

Accepted. The versatility of your weapon was touchy, but considering your primarily utility based Lumen, it evens out.

welp i decided to have some fun so here we go

Character Name: Can Stanton

Age: 17

Gender: male

Appearance: Stands about 5'11" and is around 130 pounds relatively skinny for his age and height. he has messy light brown hair and blue eyes. He normally where's dark colored cloths usually jeans and a t-shirt with a worn out jacket on top. Most of his cloths are slightly baggy.

Backstory: Can was born in Aurora to a happy family and lived a simple happy life or at least it would seem so on the surface. Can was born the youngest of three children and was the runt of the family for many years. He was made fun of and picked on by his older siblings admittedly not any worst for siblings it wasn't until he started school that things took a bad turn. Being short and quiet and prone to crying over things made him a target of bullying. that went on for years no matter what he did. be it getting angry which just made the other kids more likely to pick on him to even telling his teachers who never did anything and usually blamed him for the cause of it.

Things got better as he got older he was no longer the runt of the family and stood well above his siblings though his brother still picked on him, but he could deal with it because it was done it jest for the most part. School got better after he decided to just deal with it and not react to the kids in there attempts to cause something. Well at least for the most part. there was this on kid who just started picking on Can for no reason. A year went by with Can doing he best to ignore the kid until one day.

On that day Can and the rest of his class where playing a game out side well just acting like a goof Can got to close the kid and got pushed down by him. Normally this wouldn't have been a problem but take years worth of repressed emotion and his usually attitude down Can stood up and punch the kid not hard or the first he ever punched someone but this was different. Once he made contact with the kid there was a resounding crack on impact as the kid fell down to the ground rolling in pain, and Can's skin was as hard as stone.

Stuff after that was a burr as the kid was taken away for medical care and can was expled for school for nearly killing the kid. and so that bring us to now as Can is on his way to a new place to learn to use his Lumen.

Personality: do to having been made fun or picked on of for most of his life. Can stopped showing heavy emotion to others in hopes of stopping it causing him to come off as indifferent or uncaring to people, but those who have spent time around him notice the little bits he does show that its still there.Like a deep breath or maybe the making of a fist to show that if people aren't careful something might come out that they wouldn't like.

Lumen: Stoneskin.

in the simplest of explanations Can's Lumen hardens his skin to match that of granite. Giving him very high defenses capabilities though he is quite slow moving when using it and it can be bypasses by very powerful attacks. it will eventually end after sometime or if he takes a large amount of damage.

Weapon of Choice: good ole fisticuffs

Accepted.

Baixue also has enhanced receptive abilities, having vision that is unobscured by obstacles and heavy fog, matching the strength accuracy of the eagles and falcons she so admired, as well as slightly advanced reflexes.

Accepted. I have an idea for something that could involve your character; I'll PM you.

EDIT: As promised, here's a location guide for the Coerators. I didn't actually expect you all to incorporate exactly whom blessed you and such in there, and it's good that you did, as it helps me tremendously. More on that some other time.

Alba the Polar Bear, Paoi the Wolf and Marius the Orca "live" in Aquilo.

Taia the Lynx, Paria the Bat and Kitus the Deer live in Aurora.

Li the Dragon lives in Auster; alone. Maia usually resides there, but Maia left to recover. Maia is NOT the one who blessed you, as she's still recovering in Medulla.

In Occasus, we have Orochi the Snake and Nahta the Fox.

In Medulla, there's Aqui the Falcon and Laiak the Otter.

Oh, good. Without impediment.

Also, forgive me for being a bit presumptuous by saying this, and you might already have planned to do so already, but seeing the first accepted character put in the OP personally feels a bit unorganized to me. I trust the extra post is to be used for character sheets?

This should be fine - I'd like to keep an eye on how your shapeshifting works, as unrestricted shapeshifting is incredibly dangerous for health. Apart from that, there's one slight error with the world - and feel free to blame me for this. If I am reading it correctly, your events occur in Aurora; however, Laiak the Otter resides in Medulla due to his love for companionship and interest in human culture. You may want to change the location to Medulla to reflect this. I apologize; I should have outlined where every Coerator is. Laiak is the most logical conclusion to give for your personality, so you are lucky there.

I based my decision to have Laiak be the Coerator and have him do that based on how the vast majority of Otters in real life tend to be intelligent, playful, and fun-loving.

In any case, I've changed the location from West Aurora to East Medulla.

Laiak being the Coerator is correct; it does fit. It was just an error geographically that was my fault; not yours. You had no way of knowing.

The 2nd's post usage is probably going to be used for character sheets. It was about 3AM my time when I did that so I wasn't thinking clearly, haha!

PLEASE DON'T ASK ME HOW I SOMEHOW MISSED THESE LOL

Yeah who needs reservations anyways.

Character Name: Felis Argontyle
Age: 18
Gender: Testosterone > Estrogen
Appearance: Stands at six feet tall with a lean build. His facial expression is often in the form of a scowl, tending to scare away people at first glance. He has volumous black hair that goes past his shoulders and stops just above the armpit. He will
tie his hair back if he deems it is getting in the way of his face, or when engaged in fighting. Wears a dress shirt tucked into his jeans, with leather harnesses hugging his shoulders.
Backstory: Being born in Medulla's higher class, Felis was expected to assimilate with the norms and expectations of society. However, Felis was always a problem child, often picking fights with the other children. No matter how much disciplinary action was taken to curb Felis' attitude, nothing seems to break his indomitable spirit. Mannerism seemed like a waste of time to him, the arts a pursuit in futility, and interpersonal relation a masquerade. It was no wonder that he gained the animosity of those around him. His peers attempted to bully him at first, but his aggressive nature taught them otherwise. No matter how badly the odds were stacked against him, Felis had never lost a fight. Eventually, he was alienated from his peers, with many of them trying to avoid him entirely.
For a boy born into the high class, this was an embarrassment. How could his parents present themselves when their son was nothing more than a common-class hooligan?
Ultimately, his parents decided for the best to send him away; far, far away from public view. Under the premise of bolstering Felis' education, he was told that he would be taken in by his distant uncle who lived in Aurora. In reality, he knew his parents were just using that as a flimsy excuse to be rid of his presence. This didn't even come as a surprise to him, as he was already well aware of what others thought of him. His uncle was said to be some sort of druid who lived out in the forests, and was disliked for his "crude" lifestyle. It was rather shocking, when his uncle came to pick him up. A towering, muscular, and shirtless man wearing a bear's skin on his head showed up on their doorstep, saying not a single word. The Argontyles were rendered speechless. Felis was taken back to Aurora with his uncle, where they lived a life in the forest.
At first, Felis was utterly shocked. His uncle did not own a single possession, unlike his family, who lavished in material wealth. There was no high class meals prepared for him, no modern conveniences to make his life easier. All he felt was anger. Anger for his parents who neglected him, anger for the circumstances he found himself in. In a bout of anger, he lashed out on his uncle, only to find that he was sorely outmatched. In fact, he couldn't land a single strike against him. No matter how long, or how hard he tried, he couldn't win. And for the first time in his life, he had learnt humility. He learnt to survive with his uncle in the wild, spending many years philosophizing, and fighting with his uncle. It was only until recently, that he learned that his uncle was a Lightgiver, and that he himself had unlocked Lumen already at a young age. Unknowingly, his uncle had been teaching him how to use his Lumen.
A day came, when his uncle had nothing left to teach him. His uncle was nothing special as a Lightgiver. With directions, he guided Felis to seek out a camp of Lightgivers, so that he may further learn to control his powers. Gathering all his belongings he had at the beginning of his training, he thanked his uncle for the first time, and set out for the location he was told.
Personality: Felis is a straightforward person, letting his emotions rule his actions. If there is something on his mind, he will speak it without regard for the other person's feelings. He tends to solve his problems through his own strength, often resorting to violence. When Felis becomes angry, he will rampage for a while until he calms down. Despite being aggressive, he tries to reign in his anger every now and then, to little success.
Lumen: Felis has an abundant amount of Lumen, often being out of his control. As a result of his uncle's guidance, he is able to channel some of his Lumen to enhance his physical capabilities. His main application of his Lumen is to enhance his raw physical power, as well as convert it into stamina. Other enhancements include speed, pain resistance, and accuracy, though he isn't very good at the other ones. At the moment, he isn't skilled enough to enhance more than two qualities at once. These enhancements are temporary, and drain his Lumen at an increasing rate. His Lumen responds to his emotional state of mind, allowing him to utilize his Lumen more efficiently.
Weapon of Choice: Greatsword

Accepted!

Enjoooooooooooooooooy~ ((sorry I went a bit hamtastic.))

Character Name: Johann Stern

Age: 18

Gender: Brooooooooo!!! ~~((male.))~~

Appearance: Johann is rather muscly for his young age. This is further cemented by the fact he stands at a decently towering 6'4. He has short but wild brown hair that is spikey in front but lays flat towards the back (("Hehe, it's all party up front, business in the back!!! That makes sense right?" Johann... shush dude I got this covered.)) Johann prefers wearing green tank tops or other short sleeved garments. He tends to wear blue jeans. He wears a large leather belt with a buckle that has the words ~Kick Ass~ scrawled across the front in big red letters. He wears thigh brown leather boots. And lastly, he wears a green and yellow striped scarf near always.

Backstory: A son of a fugitive family from Auster, Johann and the Sterns always had it a bit rough in making something from themselves. They once had seemingly everything. Now... nothing, or almost nothing. Their father had sacrificed himself to save some of their money instead of his own life. Johann never really cared for the old geezer. He had been pretty absent for most his life, and his last sacrifice while for his family... in the end still involved money. Something he couldn't let go of. Johann, his grandfather, his mother, his godfather and his sister fled to Medulla, after escaping their ravaged homeland. With the momeny they had managed to retrieve, they set up in a small middle class suburb, however, the momeny wouldn't last long and they all knew it. His Mother and godfather spent all their time working, leaving his grandfather, Joey and him to take care of his younger sister. It was in this care he found out about his power. His sister had left the house... teens and their rebellious streaks... amiright? He was so worried he spent half the night running around town at the speed of sound. He blazed a path behind him, scaring the bejeebus out of quite a few passersby. The hot head throw a fireball at one of his sisters friends out of rage... He didn't die... but he was badly burned and would never quite recover. Ever since that day... Johann was always running. He couldn't live with what he had done. He had to leave that town behind.

Personality: Hot-headed, overly cocky and totally compensating for something, Johann's personality is that of a red hot flame. It burns wicked hot on the outside and does a good job of puttin' on that cool guy routine. However, deep down under all that, he's a coward. He'd rather ran away from a problem then solve it if it proves too much. His flight instinct, muuuuuch stronger than that fight instinct when the going gets tough. However, having a large sense of self-preservation... it makes him unexpectedly clever.

Lumen: Fire... speed... and more FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIYAH!!! Johann has the power to manipulate flames in two different ways. Firstly, is rather run of the mill. Fireballs, what more you want...? This mode is almost defenseless up close other than Johann's remarkable physique though that will hardly help in a magic battle.((especially do to his rather... interesting weapon choice)) Johann calls this mode, Crimson Firecracker. However Johann can also go into Super Scarlet Overdrive. By using some of his powers in Crimson Firecracker((propulsion to gain initial speed however they don't maintain for long... reason is below.)), or just gaining a lot of momentum, he can gain speed. He runs faster and faster until he suddenly lights ablaze and leaves fire in his wake. He becomes juggernaut of flames and it imbues his physicality with the power of raw fire. He tends to have an acrobatic fighting style, rolling off the enemy from a hit to maintain his pace. In the transition to Super Scarlet Overdrive however... Johann can't use his flames until they reignite. The air resistance while gaining speed cuts his abilities from functioning. Further, he needs the room to build up speed.

Weapon of Choice: Johann uses a pair of Iron Clackers. yes... clackers. Johann in Crimson Firecracker mode can use these to manipulate fire in a more controlled manner and also use them for slightly ranged combat as well. However... they take a lot of space and seriously threaten his own allies safety if they fight near him... then again... preeeeetty much all of his abilities do so... what's new?

Normally this would be fine... but we do already have 2 other fire based Lumen users. I DO, however, remember you stating something about ideas involving lightning or electricity? I'll mull it over with you when you get the time.

I'd like to ask if you'd be okay with being restricted to manipulating flames of your own creation and small to medium average flames made through natural causes, but not fires made through Lumen-based means? Apart from that, this is perfectly fine, and for future reference your character was most likely blessed by Marius.

It was never my intent to have her be able to control flames conjured and controlled by other Lumen users (cause yeah, that does begin to border on broken, hence why I restricted the "Other" types of fire she can wield besides her own to mundane ones), so I've got no real issues with that... and only small to medium for mundane fires at that is fair enough I suppose... I'll edit it into the sheet

Yeah, I just don't want it to be a case of 'fire is never an issue if you got your friendly pal Rame' and such. Apart from that, it's perfect!

I'll just put this down as a placeholder while I'm working on this....

Character Name: Rafael Lorean
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Rather young guy of about 5'9'' with black hair that reaches down to his neck and dark brown eyes. He has fair skin and while not exactly muscular, he's not super skinny either. Rafael usually wears a white shirt with a brown fur jacket over it and tends to prefer long shorts, after all they are comfy and east to wear~ with a pouch for his knives attached to it. He usually wears a pair of brown boots that his mother gave him.
Backstory: Born in a small town in Aurora, he was brought up in a small, cosy household consisting of him, his older brother, his mother and his father. His father hunted for a living in the nearby forests and had tried to teach Rafael's brother on how to do it, though the elder sibling never really showed much interest in it, though Rafael was quite interested in it, more so because he loved being out in the forest and exploring than the hunting part.
Intent on teaching Rafael it in hopes of having someone continue the family's history of being hunters. Having not shown much proficiency with other weapons such as Bows or Spears, the patriarch had ended teaching Rafael how to use throwing knives, the only weapon he was decent at using.
One day, when Rafael was nearing 15, his father took him out into the forest, wanting to test him. He instructed him to hunt down a boar on his own before nightfall before leaving the teen alone. Rafael proceeded to spend the day trying to find one, being largely unsuccessful, however. Soon, the sun started falling and the teen had no choice but to start returning home, disappointed in having found nothing.
Nearing the entrance of the forest, he was nothing short of surprised to spot a single boar out in the open, it wasn't exactly large like his father preferred, but it'd have to do. Having not been noticed by the swine, Rafael crept up on it from behind one of the many large pine trees before finally throwing one of his throwing knives at the boar. It barely missed it's leg and surprised the animal who let out a shriek before starting to run off. Rafael started sprinting as fast as he could, following the boar as it ran through the sprawling forest.
Eventually, the boar realised that he wouldn't stop chasing after him and so performed a u-turn as Rafael threw his last knife at it. It ran right into him and sent him sprawling across the ground though not stabbing him with it's tusks before turning around and getting ready to charge at him again. Rafael scrambled towards one of the knifes stuck in the forest floor in an attempt to defend himself from the swine. As if by chance, the knife started floating towards his outstretched hand, and he grabbed it, deciding not to questioning how exactly it happened and threw it straight at the boar now charging towards him. It struck the animal right between it's eyes, killing it instantly as it fell down onto the ground.
Wide eyed, Rafael looked at his hand in disbelief, seeing a small cut from the edge of the blade that had levitated into his hand, though it wasn't big. He knew of only one thing that this could be, a Lumen. His Lumen. Rafael turned around to one of the other knives around the area, trying to perform the same thing he did when the boar was charging towards him and sure enough, the knife floated towards him, though it fell to the ground in front of him when he stopped focusing on it. Picking it and a few other of the knives up and putting it in his pouch, Rafael walked over to the boar and started carrying it towards the exit of the forest where his father was waiting. By the time he arrived, the sun had already gone down.
The man was quite surprised to see him, as he said he was about to go into the forest to look for him. He was even more surprised when Rafael told him he had awakened his Lumen, something that the man was sceptical about at first but when he saw Rafael being able to control the knife he'd thrown as an example, his father excitedly told him to practice it more and more. His mother and brother seemed to share the same sentiment.
Over the next year, Rafael started messing with it more and more while hunting in the forest, though he used it from time to time in his house too. Eventually, he felt like he had hit a roadblock, as he didn't seem to be getting better at using it and that he was stagnating. Wanting to see how far he could actually go with it, Rafael decided to leave his small hometown, in pursuit of bettering himself as much as he could.
Personality: Rafael is a lively guy, though he prefers being in forests or caves and exploring them to being around people most of the time. The thought of exploring the unknown appeals to him, it's one of the reasons why he decided to venture out of his hometown and go learn more of what he could do with his Lumen. He loves being in control of things and while not completely obsessed with it, things that he can't see coming take him by surprise and he often finds himself able to do little in those kind of situations.
Lumen: Magnetism. Rafael's Lumen allows him to magnetise and control metal objects, such as his throwing knives, though he usually only uses it on smaller objects due to his admittedly average at best Lumen levels and controlling it becomes harder the larger the object is. For example, he can use it quite easily on smaller objects such as knives or nails but he won't be moving large metal beams like they're sticks any time soon. He can't focus on multiple objects at the same time very easily, only being able to control 3 smaller objects at the same time while barely being able to focus on a single larger one, it's why he prefers to use knives for the most part. The object needs to be within radius of 15 feet of Rafael, for him to be able to control it using the minimal Lumen needed, any farther and he exerts a lot more of it and it becomes harder to control. Eventually, he'll be able to delve into the versatile other options Magnetism offers.
Weapon of Choice: 4 throwing knives, of about 8-9 inches each and each has a single word engraved upon them. "Steadfast."

haha, yes i did make a posting mistake as for where i meant to put this.

Character Name: Osiric Lehvon(Like Osiris, o-sigh-rik)

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: 6 feet tall, broad shouldered, slightly dark complection, deep forest green eyes with a mess of brown-blonde hair on his head. He has an average build, not skinny but in no means the most athletic build.

He generally wears more or less whatever he has, however whatever he is wearing he always has a lot of small bags with him, whether they be around his belt, in his coat, etc. For the same reason he is also usually seen with a bandolier that has most of his bags on it. He also has a small pouch with a little red poppy growing in a small pot usually visible as well.

Backstory: He grew up on the western side of Aurora, in a large valley town with his parents. His parents worked mostly in town, with his father being a courier and his mother running an herbs shop(think flower store but with a LOT more plants). Due to her business, his mother had quite a large garden at their home, and one of Osiric’s favorite things to do when he was younger was to play in this garden; running through the bushes and climbing the trees and whatnot. His favorite time to be in the garden was during the spring, when most of their plants were at their largest and blooming. This was when his mother would go around and harvest the seeds of those plants. When he turned ten his mother told him that he could help her with the gathering the seeds, which really excited him (they were baby plants that he could help keep safe!!); however after he had gathered a bunch of poppy seeds (they have their uses!) he told his mother that he was so excited to be helping her and that he couldn’t wait to see them grow! As he picked some of the seeds up, they suddenly began growing in his hands(!!!), which was how he discovered his Lumen.

After that his life kind of went the same way that it had been going, but he did start to help his mother more with her business(mainly helping to grow the plants faster or a bit bigger), which helped him to discover and practice more with his Lumen.

Eventually he decided that he want to go to study more of how to use his Lumen, which is exactly what he is doing(his parents fully support him, cause they love their Ossy). He is also hoping that by doing so he will be able to come back and help his mother even more(before he left he made her garden extra huge because he wouldn’t be there to make the plants grow quicker anymore).

Personality: Osiric’s personality is mostly kind and nurturing, he is usually kind to most people he encounters, doesn’t usually get mad or hate people (unless you hurt something that he likes, whether that be a person or intentionally hurting his plants, then he might try to hurt you, it depends). As said, he is protective of things that he cares about, but that doesn’t always mean that he will do something if one of those said things is hurt in some way, he is a bit of a softie and doesn’t really like to really hurt people unless he REALLY has to which is probably going to happen a lot with this(although he may or may not have grown poison ivy next to people who were mean to him before). His Lumen lets him help other people pretty easily too, which a lot of the time ends up being getting them food, which he is happy with doing usually.

Lumen: Flora Control, he is able to quickly grow and control nearby flora, but only if said flora comes from a seed/is something that he has grown already (so he isn’t able to control or grow plants that have nothing to do with him, he wouldn’t be able to do anything to plants that were already there, unless he grew them OR they are bearing seeds [like fruit]). This also means that he is not able to control any kind of fungus, such as mushrooms or mold. His plants are also not that different from the run of the mill versions of those plants either, however he can push one trait more heavily, a “forced trait” if you will (ex: a sunflower, he could make the petals larger than normal, but keep the rest the same, or thicker bark on a tree), however, doing so in excess will drain his Lumen faster (such as making the previously said petals 6 feet long) and will either slow down or halt the movement and growth of any of his other plants depending on how much Lumen he has left. General control and growth of the plants does not take much Lumen and is able to be done pretty subconsciously, with his plants doing what he wants without him having to think too much about doing so(unless he is creating a plant with a forced trait or having the plant do something other than just grow/bend) but as stated before; if too much is used his plants essentially turn into regular plants (unless of course they have a forced trait, which they will retain, but will still just be there). A similar thing also happens if he were to be knocked unconscious, in that the plants would halt any growth and begin to convert back to a seed, which depends on the size of the plant (the larger the plant the faster it converts). If he were to leave one of his plants alone for too long (two weeks or so) without any connection to his Lumen, it would become a “wild” plant, and he would be unable to control it.

Weapon of Choice: Although he doesn’t consider it a weapon, he carries a short (4 foot) wooden pole with him, which he usually uses as a base to grow plants on.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I do think your Lumen is too similar to Hassar's. However! If you can find some way to put a unique spin on it, you can still retain that theme of flora control. Maybe making certain plants has different effects, or you can do something with them. Rame's and Damon's are like this - both revolve around this theme of fire (in your case, flora control) but have a unique spin on it. Johann also had a take on the fire theme, but three felt... way too overkill. First come, first served and 2 at most.

can i ask how you missed my misplaced one, woops.

I was... very sleepy? I had just woke up. I dunno.

Character Name: Aria Lunacanta

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Appearance: Aria has long brown hair and a side-ponytail. She wears a pair of large circular glasses and has fairly white skin. She has a relatively large chest and generally wears a tan-brown longcoat over a blazer and mini-skirt and black stockings. Aside from her chest, she is relatively slim.

Backstory: Aria was born to a family of scholars in Medulla. Her family consisted of her mother, father, and younger brother. As such, she generally lived a fairly normal life, well as normal a life as one would be able to live in Medulla. Her parents were generally strict with her but she was far from a slouch in school. She generally ranked at the top of her classes and was generally well-respected. Naturally, her sense of self-confidence grew over the roof to the point where some people may have found it annoying. At the very least, her younger brother who was not as naturally inclined as her found her talk of hierarchies to be quite a drag.

However, when she was 15, Aria found out that her brother, who had not been as set in life as she was, was the became a leader of a gang of thugs in the not so safe parts of her city. At first she chose to ignore this as the struggles of those who were less fortunate than her never really played a factor in her life. However, things became difficult to ignore as a well-made harassment campaign began to work to isolate her. She eventually came to find that her circle of friends began to abandon her and found the source to be her brother.

As she came to confront him, however, she realized that she had fallen into a trap. Her less fortunate brother used the entirety of his gang to corner and attack her. However, she came to awaken her Lumen which she promptly used to specifically beat her brother into submission before escaping. However, it seemed beating her problems into submission did not have any staying pattern as her isolation continued.

As such, she graduated early at the age of 16 so that she could leave the nest and learn how to manipulate and understand her Lumen better while learning more about the world. She was a scholar to the bitter end.

Personality: Aria is super prideful. Her upbringing and her intelligence seemed to instill a sense of superiority in herself at a very young age, much to the dismay of people around her. She tends to be quite outgoing and a bit of a risk-taker. Despite that, she does have a fair bit of vulnerability as she has started to question the worth of her pride ever since the incident with her brother.

Lumen: Aria’s Lumen allows her to intensify and weaken gravity over a maximum radius of five meters. She can change gravity by a factor of three at most and the change wears off after ten minutes after which she must cool down for anywhere up to twenty minutes depending on how close to her maximum she went. She can also choose to include or exclude herself from the effects of her Lumen. However, she does not necessarily have to be the centroid of her gravity manipulation. She can focus her gravity manipulation into an area of the same maximum so long as the centroid was within five meters of her. However, as the distance between her and the centroid increases, so too does her cool down time.

Weapon of Choice: Her weapon of choice happens to be a simple combat knife.

Aria’s weapon of choice is a mix between a staff one meter long and a mace. It consists of a white staff portion and a detachable translucent, aqua colored head that is reminiscent of a large diamond. The head can be detached and is connected to the rest of the staff by a chain. The chain itself can extend for .5 meters before it loses its slack completely.

Lumen: Precedence Alteration—Aria’s Lumen allows her to change the hierarchy of objects. In other words, she can take any two objects and switch the precedence of one over the other. She does this by muttering “Precedence Shift”. If Object A is made higher precedence than Object B, then a variety of effects can happen. A would not be able to damage B. Meanwhile, B can do things varying from tearing A apart like paper or even going through A as if it did not exist. At current, there are three main limitations. The first is that she can only shift precedence of objects she can see. The second is that she cannot shift the precedence of human bodies other than her own. Lastly, she can only have one set of objects with shifted precedence at a time. If she attempts to shift another set of precedences, the previous shift will fade away.

Weapon of Choice: Her weapon of choice happens to be a simple combat knife.

Always wanted to try to use this ability in an RP setting.

I think this Lumen is a bit... too powerful. Not even Sylva's Lumen could really stand up to this; and at the end of the day, you are just a beginner lore wise. I'm inclined to ask you to revise it? For this to even be remotely balanced in the context of the roleplay, it'd have to be severely limited (and I'm talking like... once per fight levels of limited).

Yeah. I was worried about that. It was worth the try, though.

Alright. I need to think over the options.

Back to the drawing board for that~

An ability for someone super prideful...mmmm...

I don't know if this is right but hopefully, i'll finish my submission later.

Character Name: Roy, The Windslicer

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Appearance: Roy stands 5'7 tall, has a pale skin tone and has a medium built frame body and has green narrow eyes giving him the expression of being annoyed. His long jet-black hair is tied into a ponytail knot and has single oversized side bangs that stick out at the right side of his forehead. Roy's attire consist of a rugged white fur coat with a hood and wears dark purple pants and thick snow boots.

Backstory:

Roy is a stubborn lower-class boy who lives in a small camp somewhere in the unforgiving tundra of Aquilo. He spends most his time hunting with his two older brothers in the wide plain of ice, scavenging for food and clothing they could find in this frozen wasteland. He tends to reluctantly tag along with them just because his father told him it is for his own good. Of course, his brothers do the heavy work while his only job is only to carry the load and their hunting equipment, watching them from the distance. Roy disapproved of how things work and believe he is ready to go on his own and is ready to face the harsh terrain of Aquilo, alongside with his trusty katana.

Being defiant that he is, Roy sneaks in the middle of the night and went down hunting on his own, trying to prove himself worthy to his father that he can take care of himself and is just as good as his brothers. Roy went searching for meat in the wide terrain and goes to the breeding grounds of where the animals are. He manages to kill a deer by surprise and just as he was about to go home to bring the meat. A small pack of arctic wolves shows up right in front his path. Roy immediately draws his sword and tries to defend himself.

The wind howls as he stands there om his highest guard, anticipating the wolves to pounces, He twirls his sword in a fluid motion and noticed something different about it, like somehow it got lighter than usual. The rabid dog pounce as Roy swings wildly. just before the wolf makes contact a feet away from him, a violent gale struck the beast as it sends plummeting towards the snow field ground. Roy accidentally unlocks his Lumen due to sheer terror and was confused on what just happened, he didn't make contact with the wolf yet somehow he manages to fend it off with his swing.

He tries it again and releases a windy shockwave while the wolves stay on their feet and tries to maintain their balance from the strong draft the boy is producing with his sword. Lucky for Roy, he didn't have to exhaust himself from doing this over and over again as his brothers arrive at the scene to scare the wolves away with torches. They rush in to check on their brother and saw what just happened, Roy's reaction was the just same and even said that he doesn't need his their help. Roy receives a slap from his worried sick father as soon as they got home and at the same time hugs his youngest troublesome son.

His father decided it is best to send Roy somewhere where he can develop his new found gift, someone to mentor him, keeping him at bay which Roy grudgingly agrees to.

Personality: Even tho his intentions are in the right place, Roy tends to solve them by the means of his stubbornness. Roy has anger issues. He is defiant and utterly impulsive and likes to prove that he can handle things on his own. Roy is somewhat anti-social and has a hard time getting along with others or showing his emotions. As such he constantly behaves in a confrontational manner to all people, even those who are attempting to be kind towards him.

Lumen: Wind manipulation: Enchant blade

Roy has the gift to generate a wind vortex by continuously twirling his sword making it a propeller of some sort to control the air flow within the vicinity. While whirling his blade, Roy has the choice to either pull nearby objects towards him like a vacuum or push back incoming threats by the sheer force of this gale.

Both effects depend on how strong the wind he's generating and how much force he's exerting. Roy has difficulty in moving objects with large density, while the lesser ones are a breeze to him. (no pun intended) If he forces this ability too much, the pressure of the wind might shatter the object he's spinning as the whirlwind he created will instantly disperse.

Roy can also release a small shockwave of razor wind by doing a 90 degrees slash of his sword, that can knock back or cut objects within the line. Objects that have higher wind resistance cannot easily be blown away by this gale. Roy needs to charge this ability before using it again.

Weapon of Choice: Katana, made for slicing and dicing

Weapon of Choice: Her weapon of choice happens to be a simple combat knife.

Not as in everyone's ready; as in we have enough people who have applied or WILL apply to start this roleplay off neatly and any more will mess with the plot, and make this a lot harder than it needs to be. Eighteen people is incredible, so thank you all so much for your support and interest in this!

Ez donezo.

Edit: Fixed a bit of a contradiction I found.

haha, yes i did make a posting mistake as for where i meant to put this.

Character Name: Osiric Lehvon(Like Osiris, o-sigh-rik)

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: 6 feet tall, broad shouldered, deep forest green eyes with a mess of brown-blonde hair on his head.

Lumen: Floral Energy Control, he can manipulate and control the energy within plants. He can also use it to imbue more energy into plants, which enables them to grow quickly and larger than usual, although he only has limited control over the way they grow (about as much control as the sun does for normal plants, so essentially he can only control the direction in which they grow). It is also possible for him to drain the energy from nearby plants to help to recharge his Lumen at an increased rate, but at the cost of killing the plant, which makes him unable to exert any of his will onto that plant because there isn’t any energy left for him to control. Draining the energy from plants also allows him to heal himself faster, however he has only ever done it to heal minor injuries, as any serious injuries would most likely kill off all flora around him.

Weapon of Choice: Although he doesn’t consider it a weapon, he carries a short (4 foot) wooden pole with him, which he usually uses as a base to grow plants on.

All accepted. If there's any I missed or that hasn't been added, please message me on Showdown.

My sheet for my character.

Character Name: Karen Marcus

Age: 17

Gender: Non-binary

Appearance:

Usually wears xyr long blonde hair down to xyr waist, rarely tying it in anyway, though that’s mainly because xe rarely has reason to. Rather pale skin tone from lack of time spent in the sun. Born with a blue set of pupils.

Wears a set of prescription glasses for xyr near-sighted eyes. The glasses have a black frame with rectangular lens. Usually has them on at all times, barring a few specific situations where wearing them would be annoying, such as sleeping or showering. Around xyr neck is a light blue heart-shaped pendant over their clothes, a gift from a friend.

Xe tends to wear layers, since xe can easily shed them whenever necessary. Xe usually wears a dark brown cropped jacket over xyr sleeveless light grey blouse. On her wrists are light black wristbands. Xe likes to wear long black formal jeans with brown loafers.

Tied to xyr belt is a small pouch that could fit in their palm. The pouch is a Lumen-enchanted Bag able to hold an infinite amount of a single type of item, such as holding 100 and more iron ingots, 100 and more gold coins, or 100 and more battleships, but keeps a size a bit smaller than the first copy of the item. What’s inside Karen’s? Lots of decently-sized rocks.

Xe can usually be seen with a rather sizeable book, cover about 12 inches tall and 10 inches wide, with pages about 11.5 inches tall and 9.5 inches wide. The silver front cover has a brown border, with an image of a simple golden star, around 8 inches in diameter. The book is a journal for Karen to write about xyr dreams, doubling as a compendium for Karen’s Nightmares.

Personality: An intelligent child with a large academic knowledge. Despite years of academic excellence, Karen lost an appreciation for hard work, becoming lax in xyr life, especially with the ability to command Nightmares to do xyr work. Xe loves to find time to sleep, preferring to hide xemself away, rather than talk to others.

If one were to talk to them, Karen can be off-putting. Distrustful and rude, xe sends people away with xyr words. Despite this, xe does enjoy the company of xyr own Nightmares, Alison being on of xyr closest companions. Sadly, xyr Nightmares aren’t exactly the best at conflicting with xem, since most of their personalities comes from xyr mind.

Backstory:

A young girl from Medulla, trained in some of the best schools in the land. Before their rather lethargic personality, they were a studious, hardworking girl that loved having friends with them at all time. When they were granted their abilities in Lumen at the age of 14, they were excited to learn how to use them. However, upon their first time activating REMquiem, an accident occurred. Days, weeks, months, years passed. They awoke in a hospital bed, learning that REMquiem was too powerful at the time, and was faced with a 2-year long sleep.

In that time, their friends had moved on, thinking that Karen would never wake up again. When they saw their again, they rarely spoke to them, as if Karen was a stranger. Karen didn’t want to accept this, and found respite in their dreams, where they can create a world they prefer. Sadly, this came with more focus on their sleeping than their studying, and rarely did they ever end up staying awake during their lessons.

Lumen (Nightmare Summoner):

Karen’s Lumen allows xem to summon Nightmares, creatures made from their dreams that serve their will to fight for them. While they can be active at any time, Karen is able to put themself into a comatose state, coined “REMquiem” by them, allowing their Nightmares to grow stronger. In this state, they can take over the mind of a Nightmare, and use their body as their own.

They are able to tie their consciousness to them, allowing them to share their experiences, as well as their memories. Theoretically, through use of this power, they are able to quickly learn to fight as if an expert, however they lack the muscle memory, which to be able make good use of the knowledge. While extremely useful in speeding up training and learning new experiences, their usual use of this is just to let their sleep in class while their Nightmares do all the learning for xem…

Recurring Nightmares: While Karen’s Nightmares can be anything, Karen does have a few Nightmares that tend to appear more often than other. These tend to be the ones they have formed a bond with the most.

Renka: Renka cannot think for themself. This is because Renka’s job is to house Karen’s consciousness while they are in REMquiem, allowing them to communicate with allies as they sleep. They are identical to Karen in appearance, except for having taking a purple color to xyr hair. Karen’s usual use of this Nightmare is just to let their sleep in class while Renka does all the learning…

Being Karen’s secondary body, her combat abilities are just as good as xyrs. While not usually equipped with xyr own weapon, upon summoning xe takes Karen’s slingshot, and uses it as xyr own. While not under REMquiem, Karen is able to instead simply give commands through mental links, but due to the difficulty in doing so, as well as no real reason to do so, Karen usually just sticks to leaving Renka dormant in her mind when not in REMquiem.

Eric: One of Karen’s more beloved Nightmares, Eric the Spider, specifically a black widow. While Karen is awake, Eric can be seen on their body, usually on their shoulder or on top of their head. Relatively harmless, though, unless Karen wants to put some poison in you for whatever reason. However, while Karen is in REMquiem, Eric can grow in size, big enough to carry the sleeping Karen to keep their safe while their other Nightmares battle. Sadly, Karen uses him for carrying xem around every now and then.

Alison: The last of Karen’s closest Nightmares. Alison is one of Karen’s most autonomous Nightmares, having a personality all of his own. Don’t let his autonomy fool you, his entire being was crafted by Karen’s mind, from his appearance to his personality. A kindhearted butler with a large focus on serving his Master. Despite his attachment to his Karen, he rather enjoys giving time to help others. A boy with short blonde hair, dressed in attire fitting of a servant.

His combat skills are at least somewhat better than Karen’s, due to years of acting as xyr guardian. As xyr Nightmare, he is able to pull mundane weapon (Swords, Lances, Axes, etc.) from Karen’s dreams, in a similar manner to xyr Nightmare Summoning. Despite his large scope of weapons, he can’t wield many of them, preferring to stick to his weapon of choice: the shield. While he certainly can’t throw shields in a boomerang-like fashion, he is able to easily pull new ones from dreams, if needed.

Weapon of Choice: A slingshot, handcrafted from trees created by Lightgivers with abilities in plant-related Lumen works. Because of this, the weapon was able to stand the test of time, and still find use as Karen’s personal weapon. As for ammunition, Karen likes to collect decently-sized rocks whenever they’re outside, and has a pouch for them.
