She ran through the verdant park, busy with people enjoying the beautiful weather. There were old couples strolling down the pathways and young couples laying the grass with bright smiles on all of their faces They were happy and that made her happy. Her breathing and pace were both steady as she made her way along her normal jogging route. It had been her route for years and she found herself waving to a lot of the locals. Some might have recognised her after being around for years, others might recognise her due to her recent success. The womens hundred meter dash had been over so quickly. Years and years of training had been spent in preparation and training. Anxiety and fear had ever present in the months leading up to it. With the support of everyone she knew she had been pushed to the starting line. It all ended so quickly she honestly didn’t remember the details in between. She heard the signal and immediately after there was the ecstatic roar of the crowd, cheering for her as the victor. She had done it, she had won. The week after was pure celebration. Some of it healthy and jubilant and some of it, to her shame, was totally decadent and debauched. She stood at the top and she had enjoyed every view. Now though? Now she was jogging again. Thinking about where she had been and, more importantly, where she could be. She looked behind her. A young man was jogging behind her, slowly catching up. She picked up the pace.
