Autumn Rain
Planning to be a pixel artist or game developer? Curious of how sprites are made? Tired of having to watch 30 minute videos? Slow internet? Well your in luck! You found a thread containing the secrets to becoming a spriter, now directly in pictures! Tools used in this guide: MS Paint Photoshop GIMP Battle Sprite Guide http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16694 There's already a guide. Tile Sprite Guide The "squares" or "puzzle pieces" required in mapping. MS Paint: Transparent Guide For those who want to remove white backgrounds. Photoshop: GIMP: Semi-Transparent Guide For those who want to add ghosts, butterfly wings, glass flooring, illusions, etc. Animation Guide For those who want their game to look "lively". Photoshop: Reuse frames if necessary. I'd add more programs but I think there's a line limit in this post...? Anyways, that's how I do it. Alistair
Interesting read. I do not plan to do serious spriting myself, but I did make modifications of exisiting sprites on MS Paint a few times (just to make some mons fit my personal tastes a bit better). Anyway it's always good to see some "behind the scenes" stuff. Thanks!
