Raindrop Valkyrie
"I'm not going to lie and say it's not been somewhat pesky. However it nothing I haven't dealt with before. I've had to take measurements for children before. They... never stop squirming around. So, this isn't that bothersome. Besides, some people just aren't fond of contact. I figured you weren't by how much you're been jumping as I've touched you. Why I had you hold the tape. Well, that and it's actually pretty hard for me to take the measurement down if I've got a handful of your chest." she laughed a little to try and lighten the mood but she doubted it work that well. She just wanted to make sure Cadence was comfortable in this space. She was going to try everything she could to make sure she was. "I do wish you'd be more comfortable around me, but I know it's not exactly something you can help, so don't worry about it." Rayne packed up her measuring tape and looked over the numbers once again. she subtracted in her head the width of Cadence's clothes from her estimation and wrote down the new numbers. It was pretty quick process from one Cadence had only ever seen be lethargic and have her head in the clouds. She was working now, doing something she enjoyed. The focus had been brought out of her. She sat down and started on her work. However, she felt... something nagging at her. She didn't really turn to face Cadence, but she went to add something she felt was left unsaid. "Beau... is a good pegasus though. I think he's had a rough life, he was rescued by the pegasus knights and brought back to health. Poachers. But, he never really trusted people quite the same after. Before I came along my mentor told me Beau was unruly and wouldn't listen to any of the handlers. They didn't want to give upon him since he'd been through so much... but they couldn't get anywhere with his training. But... Beau saved me. Despite having no training and being an unruly wild animal as the trainers believed him to be... he saved my life."
Zetaark
Madante grabs the blade from Karik and holds it up, judging it, then smiling. "Yes, this will do quite nicely. And yes, my training allows me to use weapons like these to great effect. I could even use the weight of the blade to my advantage to strike enemies harder than most could. Though actually doing that on the move isn't really feasible," Madante laughs. "At any rate, what shall we do now? I think there's a bit more time before Xavier comes back. You hungry?" Sutoratosu
"Poachers, huh? Well, that would certainly explain a lot..." she stayed where she was, for the most part. Now that it was over, she actually felt herself calming down... Not much, but at least the tension that'd been building in her muscles was beginning to fade, however slowly. It wasn't a pleasant sensation, feeling like you were a wound up spring. Infact, it was just one of the many reasons she hated close-quarters combat... but at least on the battlefield, where there actually were threats, the instinctive response could serve a purpose: forcing her to pay attention, be vigilant both in body and mind, help her survive. But when there were no more threats, when the killing fields went silent and the fires of conflict dimmed back into mere embers... that was always the point when what had, for even a short time, been beneficial, been useful even, just reverted right back into being a problem. Cadence stared at a few of the Tailor's supplies, as the Rider worked. She wasn't much one to look over the shoulder, but there was something else Rayne had mentioned "Uh.... hey, Rayne, What exactly did he save you from though? If you don't mind..." Raindrop Valkyrie
"It's... I can't really start at the event I need to move back a bit in time. So you'll have to bear with me. " Rayne kept sewing as she was speaking it wasn't actually difficult. She did it with clients quite often. Her mother always said that one should entertain their clients, talk to them, treat them like an old friend. Well, provided they were a good client. It was all the easier when they were or became good friends. It made the work all that more bearable, more enjoyable. It was more than just a job, a task. Her mother was a strange woman. But, a smart one. There was a reason people had such high opinions of the Marigold guild. They always went out of their way for quality clientele. They went the distance for everyone no matter the money they had. The Marigolds were successful despite Lily's instance on doing things her way. Honestly... her mother had been the best thing for the guild ever since it was founded. Her mother wanted her to be the heir... but Rayne just never felt it was her calling. " I ran away from home when I was younger not 2 years ago. It wasn't because I didn't like it there, or some disagreement with my family. Honestly... I loved it. I loved being at home. My mother, she always had high hopes for me. She always wanted me to one day succeed her in the family business. She wanted me to take over the Marigold guild. But, I always felt I had a different calling in life. Perhaps... because I wa... am naive. But, I always believed I was supposed to be a royal pegasus knight~ " She said with a somewhat pained smile. She missed her family... she missed all of her sisters. Talking about it was only making it hurt more. How long she'd been away. 2 years. it'd been too years since she saw any of them... Rikken... the triplets... everyone...it'd been too long. She pushed through it though. " So... I left in the middle of the night and set out towards the capital of Versida... Ventra. I knew it was where the Pegasus Knights where based. So, i traveled there on foot all by myself... at your age actually. I only new how to sow, it was the only thing I had ever done. But, I was determined to make it. Luckily... I look a lot like my mother, and the people where very familiar with my family and the things they'd done for a lot of the locals, so I got help along the way. Food, supplies... a few wagon rides to a nearby town. Little things. it wasn't until I was nearing Ventra that anything bad happened. " She paused for a moment, taking a deep breath. She fidgeted with the fabric in her hands a bit. But, she pressed on. "There was a forest I had to go through... the path cut through but it was heavy so it was all sorta of dark. The light barely poked through the leaves. The perfect place for bandits and highwaymen. Of course, they couldn't pass up the opportunity of a unarmed girl all by her own. Further they probably recognized me. I... don't know what they'd have done but I don't really like to think about it. Luckily for me though, one of them stepped on a branch on their approach so I heard them coming. I looked in their direction and saw them through the trees. I... ran. I just ran and ran. I didn't look back. The darkness however caused me to get lost and I took a turn into the woods. But, I kept running cause I could hear them behind me still. I kept hearing their footfalls rustling the leaves and spitting up dirt. And... I tripped. My foot got caught in a gnarled root and I found myself tumbling to the ground. I knew my ankle was twisted. I knew it was the end of the road. I jsut... I just... curled up into a ball. I thought everything was over... I thought they'd catch me. I felt it grow darker and I thought it was them. But it wasn't. In my panic I hadn't noticed another sound approaching. The sound of hooves. The next thing I heard was pained groans as hooves struck armour and metal. A few curses. The crunch of bone. It's all vivid in my mind. I saw standing over me, a great white horse. He was striking out with his hooves and wings and everything he could to keep them away from me. He hit one sqaure in the jaw sending him to the ground. He landed with a wet and dull thud. The rest took turns chopping at him. red was running down I could see it dripping from his wings. The pegasus was losing. Or at least I thought he was. But, he snorted angrily and charged them two men still standing. He bowled them over in his mad dash and sent them to the ground. He looked back to me when he turned. I swore he smiled with those eyes of his. Those misty yellow eyes. They got back up to their feet but he assailed them further with his hooves, keeping them at bay. it took awhile of struggle but... eventually wings could be heard. The two bandits took it as their cue to run, even leaving their companion behind. Beau had fought them off successfully. I was lucky. Apparently... Beau had run away from his handlers that day, and happened to run into me. But, instead of flee... he saved me. No one knows why to this day." Sutoratosu
"That's... quite the story between you two." It was certainly interesting, she had to admit. Perhaps it was true, what they said about Pegasi, even if Beau seemed to break the mold at first glance. It all honesty, she'd just thought it all a bunch of romanticized exaggeration about certain traits... but then again, it was easy to, when one grew up with so few around and the only real sources of information on them being old books from the church archives... "You know though... they say Pegasi can sense a pure heart, that they're drawn to it almost like moths to a flame. Maybe... that's why he risked his own self to save you that day. Maybe the contrast of what your soul was like and that of the bandits was so great, he could sense the coming struggle from miles away. Perhaps he saw in you something that he hadn't in anyone else up till then, something that let him know he could trust you, enough that he was even willing to die for you... deep down, he might've felt you were a kindred soul, someone else who was also a bit lost and out of their element, someone who might understand him for who he is and what he had been through. Or maybe it was just a fated encounter, plotted out long before any of it, and you really were destined to end up a Peg Knight instead of a guild master." Alright, even she cringed a bit at the last one. All things considered, it was a bit hypocritical to go attributing things to "Destiny" or "Fate", what with both the infernal concepts being equally as stifling and rigid forces. Still though, she meant it, that pegasus had probably done what he did for at least one of those reasons, as far as she could tell. And it certainly explained why he was still a bit... on guard around anyone but Rayne... well, that and having been chopped up a bit in the course of saving her. "Anyway... regardless why he did it, I'd say you two certainly make a good match... working together as a team, you've probably taken down more of the goons we've dealt so far with than any of the rest of us... or something close to it." She refrained, of course, from mentioning the part about how she was near certain that before the day was even out, they'd have to go and put down a few more though... wouldn't really be conducive to the mood of the room if she went mentioning the inevitability of their struggles against greedy sacks of shit and rabble. Pyon Pyon Kyuu!~
Emilee smiles, and takes a bow along with Cass. She blushed nervously, as fun as singing was she wasn't used to doing it in public. At least no in ceremonies or in the friendly environment of her old tavern. She's caught by surprise by Cass' sudden outburst. "Cass don't just throw things at people that could hurt someone!" But then she notices the neon blue as well and waves. "Oh Belros! Yeah come join us! It's like everyone is sneaking in here."

First one was to add a little muscle to the party, and a little intimidation factor. People see Ecquis in battle or her him roar - he doesn't do it much, by the way, I had to train 'im to do it and he still won't unless I sneak him a bit of bacon or somethin' - and they damn near piss themselves out of fear, especially if I'm up in there jabbin' em with my lance. Plus I was supposed ta' make sure the guards got ta' where they were going all right, and, well, they didn't. Sent a little carrier pigeon with me and everything, though he's gone now, of course. As fir why we headed out there in the first place, there was s'posed ta' be some trouble going on or something, ask Madante for the whole story." "Well, you're certainly doing that job well enough..." She glanced over the wyvern and saw a... wicked looking lance. "Huh, haven't seen a lance like that before. Seems a bit overly fancy." Raindrop Valkyrie
"Hmmm, perhaps. I don't really know what goes on in the mind of that horse sometimes. But he's my friend. He's only come with me cause he wants to. Even if I wanted... I don't think I could get rid of him. He'd follow me to the ends of the world." Beau was more than just a horse to her, he was very much a friend. Maybe it'd be silly to others but Rayne didn't really care. Beau did more for her than any human had. He was like... some kind of guardian angel almost. Always watching over her. He'd come at a moment's notice if she was in danger. She felt herself when she was around him. She was comfortable in his presence. She knew nothing would go wrong so long as she was. "So, your friend... the one who sewed this originally... who is he? The stitch work around the metal plates it rivals even my mother's. He can't just be any old person if he can work this well with metal." Rayne was seriously impressed at this handiwork. It was some of the best she'd ever seen. Perhaps it was the man's brilliance with metal that allowed him to understand a skill he otherwise lacked. He used his knowledge of the other to fill in the gaps of what he lacked. A skill in and of itself.
InnocentSerenity
“Eh, it’s not like Aye got anythin’ better to do.” Karik shook his legs around, a bit exhausted from all the running he had been doing. “You can lead the way, me eyes didn’t see any restaurants along the way here.” Karik turned around before leaving, looking towards the shop keeper. “Me compliments to yer blacksmith.” The Pirate swung around his new Steel Axe, weighing him down only slightly. “They make some fine weapons.” Karik held onto his axe, hoping to get used to the weight before his next Capture attempt. “I’ll make sure to tell any mercenaries I meet to come here.”
Sutoratosu
"Huh- oh, him... you mean Smitty? He's..." "somebody that I used to know. He's was given sanctuary by my grandad a few decades ago, he's basically a friend of the family... well maybe 'friend' puts his role too lightly, at this point he's kinda like... a kooky old uncle I guess." Cadence sighed, shaking her head "I'm probably never gonna see him again, after this mess... but yeah, he's a master smith in his own right, would never tell me how or where he learned the stuff, or how he actually did any of it, neither would my grandsire, infact it was hard enough just getting the fact that Smitty had saved him back when they were both young men. He... I've seen him work, a lot of times, I'm probably the only one he'd ever let watch, come to think of it. There was... something about how he worked the forge, how he handled the ore and the slag, like they were apart of his own self. Infact, just calling him a Master Smith is probably an insult, there's a lot more to it than that; the old coot has done things with metal and fire, that I can't even begin to describe. Whatever he does though, it's almost like... look, let's just say Metalwroking wasn't just some job or hobby to him, it was... it was almost like a ritual, as best I can describe it... something sacred. Usually he's a bit... eh, eccentric, not quite playing with a full deck at times, but whenever he goes to the forge, it all melted away... he was like a different man, someone who knew exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it, even if no one else did... or maybe... maybe that was really how Smitty always was. The rest of my family, they've thought he's been going senile for as long as I can recall, always looked at him with pity, but I don't know... after seeing that duality to him, how at just a moments notice, he could take the reigns and handle himself like some archaic old god of his craft, I think that deep down, he isn't really crazy... I think that there's always been some method to his madness... guess that's why I'm the only one he ever really let watch him. I'm the only one who really seemed to get it." She paused, taking another sigh as she felt something wet dribbling down her cheeks. For a moment, as she wiped her eyes, she was more than a little glad that the Tailor had her back to her working on the coat... She missed the old coot more than she even realized, she guessed. But when he'd been the one and only person around that whole household she knew beyond the shadow of a doubt she could always count on, regardless what it was, well... it wasn't surprising. He'd been the closest thing to a rock she'd ever really had, she couldn't even say that about father... the man had tried yes, come close at times, but never as close as smitty. "He uh..." she continued, haltingly "it was always... amazing to see. When I was younger, he'd always offer to let me watch him whenever he found me sad... and just... seeing him work, it always seemed to get my mind off whatever it was bothering me. He'd start chanting as he stocked the flames and hammered the metal, and the Forge itself just... flowed and breathed like a living creature, burned with too many colors for me to describe... and the metal he processed with it, it almost seemed to mold itself under the blows of his hammer, like... like it knew what he needed from it, what it's purpose was to be. It was like... he didn't just work that forge, he worked with it. Every part of it. The Fire, the wind from the bellows, the earth present in the ore, the water he used to cool that ore, the anvil he shaped it on, even his own hammer and tongs. He wouldn't stop just because the forging process was done though, no, Smitty has work ethic the likes of which I've never seen anywhere else, he'd keep the ritual trance going the entire time, no matter what part of the process he was in- forging the parts, constructing the individual components, honing an edge like constructing the hilt or honing the edge on the grind stone... even as he installed each and every iron plate into that coat you see before you. What you're seeing is his heart and soul, poured into every bit of metal in that coat, making sure each and every one is placed exactly where it needs to be to do it's job, and accepting nothing less. That coat infront of you... it's more than just a coat. It's the physical manifestation of one friends desire to protect the other from harm, the only way he really knew how. And I'd be lying if I said I'd have made it even this far, without his gift. Through that coat, Smitty's saved my life more times than I can count, stopped or mitigated injuries that would've been fatal otherwise. It might weigh me down yeah, enough that I... can't really even move at my natural speed, but in the end... I guess that says something in and off itself. Every fight I get into, every time I lock blades with some goon, the extra weight is Smitty, standing there beside me, watching my back... in his own unique way." Aurorix
"Well I guess trying blend in with this hair was stupid to begin with." Belros sighed as he found no more point in trying to hide seeing as he's been found. He grabbed his mug, took a quick sip and joined the two, a bit reluctantly. "Well, I guess I have to join you two now. I didn't want to intrude before seeing as how it looked like something more then just sharing a couple of drinks. Raindrop Valkyrie
"He sounds like a wonderful man." Rayne said, she wondered just what h was like. He sounded, like quite the individual. She wished she could meet him. To see the man that probably made Cadence what she was. "I'd not say never, well... unless you know the ending is permanent. Life has a funny way of finding the least expected things to come to pass. You could see him again one day. I know, one day I'll see my own family again. Two souls tethered through a bond will always find one another once more. The winds will always blow them towards each, the flowers dancing to show them the way. So my Mother says. I'm inclined to believe. I've never known her to be wrong." Rayne laughed. As much as it was a joke she could barely remember a time her mother was in fact wrong, at least completely. It was like some magic power she had. 36 years now, but she had the wisdom of someone at least twice her years. Triple the work ethic of someone of her age... and quite the myriad of other desirable traits to her name. Rayne looked up to her immensely. She... hoped she'd be proud of her daughter, despite what she had done. Knowing her though... the only thing she'd be angry about was that she wasn't given prior notice. "Just be who you want to be~" Her mother's words rang out in her head. " Anyway... if this coat really is that... well I'll match it's look to it's function. I'll put my own soul into it. I'll make this man's handiwork the most beautiful thing in this world. I'll make his caring, his desire to protect his friend as beautiful as it should be. I've never been more sure of anything in my life. This will be my masterpiece, well so far. I have many more to create in my life. But, this will be the start. I'll make his heart... visible. " Rayne continued to stitching. She was getting close. After all, most of the work had been done prior, she was just shaping it to better fit Cadence's body, to compliment her form, not to hide it. One might say this work was the hardest type, changing something that was already there, but... Rayne found it easy. She found it easy to shape something to what someone truly was. After all... she always had a knack for knowing people, knowing who they truly were.
Zetaark
"Alright then. I personally haven't gotten a good look around the town, but I'm sure there's something," Madante says as the pair heads off. It took them a little while to find someplace that they wanted to eat, but the pair wound up going to "Mira's Diner". Upon entering, the pair were greeted and seated towards the center of the restaurant. To the left of the restaurant were windows looking out to the sea, and if they looked a bit more they could see a pair of mages sitting by the window. "Well, while we're waiting for our food, let's chat a bit. Have any nagging questions you want to tell me, or do you have other things on your mind?" Sutoratosu
"Thank you... you... don't know how much it really means... to both of us...if he were here right now..." "Maybe you're right... maybe we may cross paths again. But I doubt it, the estate has been his home for... decades, at least, and so long as my grandfather is alive, I doubt Smitty would ever have reason to leave...hell, even if grandad were to go first, he'd probably leave explicit orders to leave him be in his will. But no... the reason I doubt I'll see him again is simple; I'm not going back, that place, it isn't my home anymore... I've made my decision. I cannot abide by their ways anymore, their hypocrisy, their blind faith, and after... after...what she did to him...after what she tried to do to me..." She stopped, turning her back as she looked out of the cabin's sole port, fistbone white as her nails dug bleeding little trenches into her palm, already being healed by the anima no sooner than they'd been inflicted. There was a subtle change, but an unmistakable one in the air, the temperature had definitely risen by a couple degrees, and kept rising as she shook. After a moment or though, she took a breath in effort to center herself, and with it the heat seemed to drop off again... "I can't do it." She finally admitted. "I know I wouldn't be able to go back there. I don't want to go back there, ever again. As much as I might miss Smitty, or... at least two of my big sisters, if I go back there, then what? After what's happened, I'd never be able to carry on like it was all the same, hell, I fucking hated how it was to begin with... What happened to father was... it was unforgivable, inconceivable to me up till then... but... after thinking about it, after... just hearing him again, it made me realize a lot of things...things I need to learn. Things I needed to change. So... I've cast off my house's name, refuse to live under it anymore or let it define me. My home now lies on my back and in my heart- Smitty's final gift to protect me in battle, and my Father's name and memory to guide me where my household has so utterly failed... my father, and Smitty... they were always the only ones I needed... the ones that I really trusted. So who knows, even if I don't see Smitty in the flesh again, maybe... maybe this will be enough." With that said, she turned back away from the sight of the sea, turning back to Rayne. "How is.... it coming along though? You seem to be making a lot of headway..."

Aurorix
"Let's just say, not knowing is more scary than knowing." Belros whispered leaned into the two of them in a serious tone. "Can you say for certain you know everything about either of us? As we saw a couple of days ago I put everyone in danger because of my past. How do you know the explanation I gave wasn't made up? I could be a serial killer or maybe worse. In my past line of work you learn to accept these truths and to keep eyes behind your head. You never expect someone would backstab you before it's too late and I don't want to happen ever again." "But hey we're friends here right? He gently pushed his mug, still half full, away, straightened up in his seat and sat as far away from Belros as the chair he was sitting on would allow it. "Yeah...fun..." I personally was rather fond of magic myself as a child, so when I was deemed to have potential, I went to the magic academy of Alios. Its one of the two primary mage academies, with the other sitting in Versidia. That's where I began to study magic in depth and when I decided to devote myself to the practice of anima. My official studies are nearly over though, and all that's left is my grand report to the headmaster regarding all the types of magic. Which is mostly why I was around Irvetos a few days ago," Helena answers, trailing a bit with the last sentence. "Besides, making you suffer a bit first would be way more fun."
Bfroger6
Cass froze over, a shiver running down his spine, triggered by the touch of the other's elbow. What Emilee said had reassured him for a moment, but it was a very fleeting moment indeed, and as it passed, so did the obviously false sense of safety. But that was not all. As Belros nudged him, it was no problem for Cass's ass, already sitting at the edge of the chair, to slip over and fall down with a painful thud, after which Cass laid and spread across the floor. Whether or not he was knocked out was the question.
Aurorix
"Wow, I surprise myself sometimes or maybe his extreme cowardice is the thing that's surprising." Belros chuckled, showing no remorse nor worry about Cass' current condition. He starred at him for a few moments waiting for him to get up, but he laid there not moving. "Alright you, get up now or maybe you're such a light weight that you've passed out already." He began lightly tapping his shoulder with the front end of his boot to get him up.
