Raindrop Valkyrie
Rayne was sorta spacing out again trying to not think about how weird this situation was for her. She was never a fan of meeting new people and certainly, not a fan of being in the spotlight. She did feel a tad more comfortable than usual however. Clarisse's family home reminded her a lot of her own. They were quite well off, like her own family. Her mother was quite a bit more modest in her styling though. Not that this was a gross display of wealth or anything, it was jsut a bit more noticable than it was in the Marigold household. Still it'd didn't help to ease her much. She nearly jumped out o her skin yet again when Clarisse's mother asked who she was. The attention being focused on her again all of a sudden sorta wigged her out. This was Clarisse's Mother. What would she say to her? She wasn't really sure of what to do in this situation. She silently cursed in her head wishing she'd have thought about this more and figured things out in her head before they had arrived. But, she was here now. "Hehheh..." she let out an Awkward giggle. "Nice start me..." "Hi! I'm Rayne. Rayne Marigold. I'm with the royal guard.~ Clarisse is a friend. Juuuuust a friend of mine. Well not just a friend..." Rayne paused for an uncomfortable amount of time here. It had seemed she'd lost her train of thought or... something as she just trailed off but never finished the thought. Sutoratosu
1 hour ago, Zetaark said: -------------------------------------- After a bit of travel moving over to the other side of town, the group found a rather large tavern that appeared to be of high quality. Entering, they found a rather packed bar. The group managed to find seats directly at the countertop, where the bartender greeted them. "You look like new faces. What can I getcha?" -------------------------------------- "We're not here to drink, I'm afraid," Cade answered "We're royal guardsmen, conducting on an official investigation. Do you know anything at all about a particular poisoner's shop nestled into a back alley? Or a certain brown haired nobleman who walks around in ornate armor? Any info you could give would be appreciated..."
Anstane
Darius was shaken out of his trance by the project director. He answered his question after taking a moment to compose himself. "It...is definitely a very impressive piece of machinery, I must say."
rokubiraijuu
"The Seyrm tribe . . . ?" It's not one of the ones close to where his tribe had established their home; he barely recognizes the name. But he is surprised to hear someone else who's met a nomad. Though, if these 'manaketes' are dragons, then perhaps it's not that surprising. Dragons are said to live for an extremely long time, and he would expect that they would have seen everything the world has to offer at some point. The thought is both frightening and somewhat sad. Reaching out to take the box from her hands, he nods. "Wes? I will keep it in mind." It's an odd name for one of the nomadic people, but she had said 'supposedly', so. "You are very trusting, to have confidence that a complete stranger will deliver this for you."
Twinwolf
"...Some things happened on Irvetos, I helped her out, and I ended up traveling with her and some others. May as well do that rather than spend money on ships between each island, right?" Clarisse says.
Zetaark
"Can't say much about the poison shop. I don't tend to go around that part of town. As for brown haired noblemen with armor...there are a few people who come to mind. Well, I say that, but only one of them is particularly shady. Rumors say that he hangs about the west alleys and makes deals with some shady people. Also heard rumors of him setting up some stuff a few years ago to off a few people, though I don't know the legitimacy of that claim. Maybe if you go north you could run into the guy," the bartender replies in a somewhat uncaring tone. --------------------------------- "It's quite a feat indeed. Technically, two man crafts have actually gone a bit past prototype stage, but those are only useful for couples wanting to see the world. Though...," the director eyes the pair of mages for a bit before moving on to a different topic. "Besides the aerial transport, we've also attempted improving some of our sea crafts with similar techniques. Those have had a bit more success, and we may actually start releasing them for commercial use soon. Though they do have one little kink that needs to be worked out before then, and the issue is a bit of a pain. Perhaps you two may be able to provide some assistance?" the director inquires. --------------------------------- "Well, there are a few security measures in place to make sure nobody tries to take the inside goods. Along with...other measures. But I think you two seem like decent enough people. And hey, if you actually do manage the task, I might be able to get you something nice. How does that sound?" the woman replies with a pleased voice. --------------------------------- "I...see. Exactly what...never mind, I'll deal with that issue later," Clarisse's mom says with a rather conflicted look on her face. "At any rate, I'm surprised to see that you've befriended a member of the Marigold family. I've heard quite a lot about them. Is this a new business partnership in the making?" Clarisse's mother asks jokingly, laughing a bit as she says it. Edited May 29, 2017 by Zetaark
Sutoratosu
"I see then. This fellow have a name, by any chance? Even just his household's would be enough" She slid 100 vespers across the counter as she asked the question. Just encase the man's memory needed a bit of loosening. Whatever the answer might be, Cadence takes the others north towards the Estates, hoping to find the home of their culprit since chances are, they wouldn't be able to infiltrate the shop and the deal is probably done by now anyway. Zetaark
"Sorry, no names for you, just info," the man responds. Following this, Cadence and co move out to the northern estates. On their way they find a pair chatting about something. "That's all I managed so far. Think you can work with it?" the man asks the woman besides him. Aurorix
Belros stops the group once he catches sight of the man. "Hold up, that's definitely the man from the ally way." Belros speaks softly to the group as to not get the man's attention. "Alright, here's what we should do. You three go up and distract him while I sneak around behind him. Once I'm in position we come in for the arrest. Any questions or objections?" Belros asks the group making sure they understood the plan.
Sutoratosu
"Just make sure you don't screw up and instantly get spotted like some idiot" Cadence sighed, before turning to Madante and Myrd. "Anyways, you guys ready for this? I don't know what that woman has to do with all this, but either way we can probably take them both just fine." Aurorix
Belros nods before heading off into a nearby alleyway to climb up a small building without the prying eyes of people. Once atop of the building he kept low, getting away from the edge closest to the target as to not give away his position. Then he hops from roof top to roof top, until he's on the building closest to the two. Once there he lies low keeps watch, waiting for the right time to swoop down. He just hopes this all goes well. Stealthily climb up onto the buildings and get on the one nearest to the suspects.
Chevaleresse
"So, wait, what, we just jumpin' these guys while Bel climbs up the roof, or what?" Myrdwyn asked Cade, at her normal volume; which is to say slightly louder than strictly necessary for normal conversation. Perhaps it was a bad idea to invite someone known for unsubtlety who was already tipsy along if one planned on being stealthy,
Raindrop Valkyrie
New business partnership? Rayne knew what was said was a joke of some kind, but she found it peculiar that someone had heard of the Marigolds as far away as Z'ark. Though... she supposed the fame that her family name held spanned much further than their homeland. Perhaps it was just due to her mother's reluctance to ever leave their home city that made her feel that way. Perhaps the guild's influence was much larger than she could've ever imagined. It made her all the more glad she left. Rayne never felt she was one that should hold the title. She wasn't really one with any acumen for business. She was always amazing at tailoring and all the skills that came with it thanks to her mother, butrunning a guild never felt like something she could do. "You've heard of my Mother's guild?" she asked somewhat surprised. She turned to Clarisse. For the moment she snapped out of her nerves. Which may or may not have been a good thing. "I'm guessing your family is a line of merchants as well, Clarisse? Your home does remind me a lot of my own. Though my mother always was talking about how her style was much more genuine and down to earth than most others. She was always really adamant about keeping her home modest." Anstane
Darius shrugged his shoulders. "Sure, I don't mind if Helena doesn't mind as well. What is it that we'd need to do?" Edited May 29, 2017 by Anstane
Zetaark
Myrdwyn's ramblings are somewhat loud, which would have been fine if the crowd were more filled with people and conversation. Sadly, it was not, so all the nearby people stared at the group, concerned. Some of them started to look towards the roofs, where they would have found Belros sneaking about when Madante intervened. "You know, it's not good to say things like that when drunk. Who knows what people may think? I'm sorry everyone, my friend here is a little drunk," Madante says to the people around him. The surrounding people seem to believe what the man says, and begins to go back to their normal routine. "Sheesh, that was too close," Madante sighs -------------------------------- "I don't mind much either. What do you need?" she asks. "Well, the prototype animus engine we have at the moment powers the ship by converting magical energy to actual force, letting the boats move much faster than they currently could. This would reduce travel time quite a bit between the islands. However, two distinct magic types are needed to run it, and the magic needs to be properly attuned. That last part is the one giving us trouble. It seems like using any two of the three magic is good enough to power it, but attuning them so that the animus engine doesn't break has been...difficult. Do you two think you could try to get it to work?" the director asks.
Sutoratosu
"Goddess... fucking...damnit..." Cadence muttered to herself when Myrd had, of course, blurted everything out at the volume of a town crier. Thankfully however, it seemed there targets weren't the ones who actually heard it, and the captain had managed to play it off as just the ramblings of a drunk for those nearby. And surprisingly, they'd... bought it? Well, technically she was drunk off her ass so... "Yes..." she answered in a low rumble, teeth grinding against themselves "Thats... the gist of it, myrd. Please be a bit... quieter, okay? Just let me and the captain handle all the talking and be ready to lend us some muscle if they try to run or fight." With that said, she turned to the captain, nodding "and after that near save, I suppose now is as good a time as any. Thankfully, those two didn't seem to have noticed anything..." Spoiler And then with the drunk rider and the captain in tow, she set the distraction in motion, as she approached the nobleman and his... acquaintance. "Well, here we met again, what a surprise..." she began, "I certainly hope that you had better luck with whatever you sought in the shop than I did; The clerk seemed a bit quick to throw us out after I asked just a few questions about his wares- have to make sure we were getting the best quality, afterall. Quite an interesting bit of defenses he has on the door though- stuck his shop in a back alley and still felt the need to enchant the thing... but I guess when he was busying himself discussing potential assassination plots and other bits of intrigue with you, it was just in his best interest that the door it's done behind ought to be... quite sturdy." Zetaark
"Hmm? Do I know you...oh!" he says as he recalls the earlier meet-up. "You were at that shop earlier. Twinwolf
"Yeah, we are. The Verun family's a pretty important one around here." Clarisse says. She neglects to comment on the whole 'being modest' bit, because her mom is kinda right there.
Sutoratosu
"Oh come on, there's no use trying to hide it; it's pretty obvious, man. You walk into a poisoner's den nestled away in a back alley and the door locks behind you with some pretty heavy security. Folks all over town recall you as being shady, and there's even been numerous allegations of you trying to plot a few deaths before. And regardless of if they're true or not, you certainly seem to have quite the past either way, to have earned your reputation- so it's only natural that someone would get curious as to what you were doing in that particular shop, in that particular dark alley..." Zetaark
"Shady? Me? Have I been the target of rumors yet again? Why does this keep happening..." the man trails off. The woman besides him then speaks up. "I'm sorry about all this. It's all because I asked you to check out that shop. I'm sorry, but the man here hasn't been out plotting any assassinations or anything of the sort," the woman explains.
Raindrop Valkyrie
"Ooooooooh. Interesting. I've never really been to Z'ark before... or really... anywhere outside of Versida before. I guess, I'd not really know of such things. I never really had much to do with the business end of the guild. I've only ever helped out with orders or tailoring work. I'm not sure what kind of business y'all do. I'm sure if it related to tailoring in anyway my mother would know about you though. She tends to know everyone regardless though. I dunno how she does it." Rayne mused, more to Clarisse than anyone else in the room.
Sutoratosu
"Hmmmm... asked him to check it out, eh?" she thought it over for a moment. As she did though, the anima brought up their previous words from the depths of her mind. 12 hours ago, Zetaark said: "That's all I managed so far. Think you can work with it?" "Well I suppose that does explain your discussion a few moments ago. Still raises a few questions though- just what were you hoping to find out about the shop, pray tell? If your friend here isn't really involved with anything nefarious and was just investigating on your behalf...does that store have a particular history? No one we interviewed seemed to know terribly much about it, and the shopkeep seemed like an... evasive man, at best"
Zetaark
"That's why I asked him to check out the shop. You see, I'm an alchemist by trade, and I work with various substances for either commercial use or experimental use. Poisons included, though most of those are for experimental use. At any rate, I heard about some unlicensed shop opening up in an alleyway selling poison weapons and the like. I don't know if you know this, but any shop that sells poison weapons has to be registered with a licensed supplier. I am one such supplier, but none of the others in the field know about that shop. So, I asked my husband here to check it out and see what he could find, maybe get a purchase or two if possible so I can analyze the type of poisons used. I didn't expect it to cause this much of a fuss though," the woman explains.
Sutoratosu
"I see then," Cadence sighed "Well, at least this whole thing wasn't a total bust. seems in the end, we had similar suspicions- my father dabbled in a bit of alchemy in his free time, so I decided to ask the clerk what common ingredients he used. The guy could barely answer me, kept giving the excuse that he just 'bought from whoever was the cheapest' and didn't really know what formulas were used. He was also pretty quick to kick me and my acquaintance out, when the simple questions became too heavy for him... speaking of which-" She paused for a moment, looking around the roof tops to try and spot the thief. The anima followed her gaze, and soon enough the air around Belros filled with whispered warnings in an arcane tongue. Though he probably wouldn't understand a lick of what the spirits were trying to say, he'd more than likely still get an ominous feeling that he'd be better off aborting his little sneak operation and coming back down... "I'm curious as to why someone would go to the trouble of badmouthing your husband though," she continued, once they'd delivered the message "you have any bad blood with someone, or something of the sort?" Zetaark
"Truthfully I'm not sure. A few years ago there were just suddenly vague rumors about him that got spread around. Most of the people who knew us knew they were nonsense, but it affected his business a bit. We still don't know very much about how it all started. At any rate, the two of us were going to go eat, so if you don't have any more questions we'll be on our way," the woman responds.
