Damage
So I'm pretty dumb for never noticing this but I think all the gym leaders are color coded.... Like all of them. Is this some easy to notice thing, was it intentional? Can you believe its not butter? Am I over thinking a simple gimmick? Someone help me understand why this is? Veterans Zumi Posted November 12, 2016 Veterans Share Posted November 12, 2016 Pretty much all of the Pokémon games theme their gym leaders after their types, or at least reference it in one way or another. Reborn doesn't seem to be any different, so there's most likely no other reason.
Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch Posted November 12, 2016 Global Mods Share Posted November 12, 2016 Terra is the only one where I don't see the connection between appearance and type. But like Zumi said, it happens with the official series too.

Alistair
The general rule in Reborn is that gym leaders are indeed color coded, but there are exceptions. The most obvious is Terra, like ICSW said, but Hardy and Samson don't strike me as heavily color coded either. These exceptions lead me to think the color code in Reborn isn't fully intentional. I think Ame or whoever did the chara design was more or less consciously influenced by how the canon games handled it, but wasn't actually thinking "oh, let's do a color theme thing with our characters". This is only speculation though. Maybe they willingly copied canon games' gimmick for all I know. I think we can agree that most characters in Reborn are well-designed in any case. Damage
They all have great designs, unique and interesting. I just never given it thought and when I did, it was one of those "wow how did I not see that" moments. Samson strikes me to the color, Hardy is a little off color wise but relatively close given his dark hair. Yeah Terra is the obvious exception here but it makes sense as it keeps in line with her character also her name is Terra which means earth so we don't need the nail to be hit that hard. HughJ
Maybe Hardy would have steel tips like Titania if he grew his hair longer

Alistair
Appearance may not be the connection for Terra, but her name is, so there's still a connection between them. The name is a connection for Florinia, Shelly, Shade, Luna, Terra, Ciel, Hardy, Titania, probably even Saphira (I'm thinking of a book series with a dragon named Saphira) and Charlotte (charring). So, at least half of the leaders. It's kinda obvious. The topic was color though, which is even more obvious for almost all the leaders. Reborn sure loves its little themes, just like the canon games.

A poison called iocane from The Princess Bride. Serra - sierra. Noel - I think it's just supposed to sound close to normal. Radomus - Nostradomus Samson - strong person from Bible Amaria - mar is Spanish for sea Not sure about Adrienn Source where I learned some of this. (Kuro's post in there is one of my favorite posts on the whole forum btw)

The Aya and Radomus things don't work perfectly in my mother tongue, so maybe that's why I didn't see it. Thanks for the explanation tho! Damage
I think I've heard the connections somewhere before. Yeah its a pretty cool concept.
