"Right, can we kill the shopkeepers? See, it's a profit for both sides! We put them out of their miserable existence, and we get money AND supplies. Don't know why I don't do it more often, really."

Leon abruptly whirls and drives a knee straight into this man's gut. "Do you want to run that idea by me again?"

"Oh ho ho~ It looks like I was right about what I said earlier, Kagarin~" Magna's skull chattered, as if to mimic laughing. "The others have already come to some sort of disagreement. I may have seemed a little too overcautious when it comes to trusting people, but it wasn't without reason~"

Magna had been more or less listening to Leon's conversation, and grasped the gist of what was going on. From the way he described it, occurances of otherworldly travellers were not something new. The mention of getting their group "offworld" also worried her. She took the way it was worded as being unable to return them to their original worlds. Meaning they would continue hopping worlds, at best. "A vacation it is! I've always wanted to go on an adventure!"

"Anywho~ What were you two doing before you got dragged into this mess? I was trying to enjoy a nice cup of tea and catch up on some reading, and the next thing I knew, I woke up here! And I don't sleep, so that's pretty weird!" Magna was aware she was babbling on, but it was simply a farce. In truth, she was also studying the others. With the presence of the Heartless being an active threat, it would be good to have allies to fight alongside. Typically those who hadn't formed groups yet would be easy to approach, but usually the seedy or the eccentric made the best allies. "By the way, H.K., are they any supplies you would need from the shop?"

Visrii reels, but surprisingly does not retaliate. "Right, never-mind. Kinda deserved that one."

Speak for yourself, i could use some drinks right about now to drown this absurdity you humans are fond off producing. Jesse thought to himself as the gunslinger spoke. He then comes to a halt at the sight of their guide suddenly snaps and drives a knee at this young mercenary's gut, teaching this dog a physical lesson about showing some respect.

"I told you so.." The angel said as he watched the incident unfold.

Snow, The Lady Ashford

"I'd have delivered the message if he hadn't himself. One doesn't joke about the lives of the people someone is in charge of. Lives are precious and these lives have fought hard against their foes, and I'm sure they've lost many good friends, family members and loved ones already. They'd probably sacrificed more than we can imagine trying to defend this place they call home. I respect them more than I respect skill for their valiance. In this instance I overlook merit. One that would pick up a blade to defend their home from attackers, no matter how unprepared they are, deserves and commands the respect of me. I'd not be the Lady Ashford if I did not see that."

"I apologize for the unruliness of this company an any grief thy have caused you Leon. I'm am not sure they understand your plight quite as I do. I'm sure they aren't used to watching a hoard of heartless souless monsters, the... empty shadows these Heartless are... take the people you dearly care about one at a time. They disrespect those that have given their lives to keep this village standing, and, those that give their lives to see it stand tall and beautiful as it once I had. I cannot do anything to repay you for this other than end this threat so that you may breathe easier, at least for awhile. I will do it on my word as the Lady Snow Ashford, the Queen that united the North. The Winter's Fang." she turned on her heel to leave, but not before giving another respectful bow.

"I bid thee farewell for now, I wish to take my time to prepare." really I just want 5 seconds to be able to clearly think, Aelia's Tits... these humans I'm stuck with.

That was...not entirely unexpected, I suppose.

It was a disturbing fact that Edmond was growing accustomed to these recurring clashes between the group.

"I'm sorry, but I'm still slightly confused as to what you intend to have us do..."

A moment later, he grimaced at Snow's words. It seemed likely that they weren't here simply to defend a solitary town, but rather to fight a threat much greater. If that were so, they would be witness to scenes of destruction and carnage of similar magnitude in the future. This would be nothing unusual. That doesn't mean we shouldn't care though...

Katsuo

Shops, that could be useful. Katsuo didn't carry much, or rather anything, usually he wasn't away from his base of operations long enough to need supplies. Actually, there was something else he usually had along that he didn't this time... Perhaps these people could help him come up with a temporary solution.

"Hey, is there a medicine shop?" He asked, "One that carries strong sedatives, to be specific."

Gwaedu bounced a couple of times.

"And she'd like to know if you have cable television." Katsuo translated.

"Say, do the Heartless normally command wild animals? Or was it just coincidence that we were attacked by both working together? And do they really just appear out of thin air? Or is it some kind of, cloaking?" I'd say I'm hoping it's the second one, but I still jump whenever I hear a bell.

"Alright. Now that we're clear on that. . . Thank you, Snow.

Yeah, the Heartless are basically mindless. Like animals, almost. Their only goal is to consume more hearts. They do act with pack tactics sometimes - so a lot of the times, killing the biggest or meanest one around will cause them to disperse - but they won't do a lot more than swarm you unless someone's directing them. A lot of people try to bend them to their own will, and it works, right until someone stronger comes around. These ones didn't start out organized, but their sheer numbers are a problem, and they seem to be acting with some more intelligence lately.

They don't control animals, as far as I know. They do mimic them, sometimes; are you talking about those strange ones that have been showing up lately? Do you think they might not be Heartless at all? I suppose they are really strange. . . No emblems, and no glowing yellow eyes. But yeah, they just pop up out of thin air sometimes. IT seems like there's some limit to it, so you don't get jumped by entire armies of them, but you can't really be quite sure when you're safe."

By now, the party would have reached another set of steps, this one a bit more staggered. "The shops are up there. They'll give you the supplies we can spare. Visit me in this house-" he gestures at the one behind him, near the stair "- when you're ready to go.

((They'll give each person a Potion, which heals for 10 HP on use. The party can also grab a total of 4 Bangles, which are simple +1 res armor items. Decide amongst yourselves who needs them.))

"The animals... I believe I have seen them somewhere before," Alexandria muses, "But it was some time ago. Retrieving the memory may take a while. When you get to be my age, recalling older experiences requires a search engine and an archive trawl."

The grey cloaked man unsteadily gets on his feet, and he clutches his head in pain, the flat of the man's blade hurt, which wasn't very surprising; thr grey cloaked man turned towards the platform he had built earlier.

The stranger wasn't there, and his weapon was also missing, the grey cloaked man checked his belongings, and he found that nothing was missing, except for his ring.

And so he turned to face the rest of the group and said.

"Right, so does anyone have access to an ample amount of precious metal, a jeweler who won't ask too many questions, a rock, a shot glass filled with human blood and the tears of an extradimensional creature? Because somebody took my ring from me".

"They didn't pop up like the Heartless, they just charged out at us, and it sounds like those emblems are a common theme for Heartless. They've done autopsies on the new ones right? Found anything worth mentioning?"

"And how selective they are about popping out? Would they appear just to attack a bird? Would they delay their appearance to flank us? I can scout out ahead if no one else can, but, if they can just appear whenever, the most I can manage is finding cover and chokepoints."

I"Say..." She grins. "Drinks are on the house right?"

"Huh. Thanks. I'll be just a moment. I'd like to see if the shops have any food. I appreciate the urgency of the situation, but I need sustenance."

Edmond wandered into one of the shops, where he perused the wares available.

"So do I just take these? It feels odd to receive without paying in cash..."

As he was preparing to exit the store with his purchases, if they could be called that, the woman behind the counter quickly tossed a small vial of liquid.

"What is this?"

.........

"A potion? So it's some sort of tonic that will heal me?"

........

"Thank you again. You're very kind."

Edmond exited the shop, chewing on a strip of some manner of dried meat. He had obtained ten strips of dried meat, a similar quantity of dried fruit, three loaves of brown bread, a vial of nitric acid, a similar sized vial of hydrochloric acid, water, and a pack to carry it all in.

As he exited, he heard Solomon shouting.

"Calm down. I've got your ring, and it will be given back in due time. By that I mean very soon. We just have to prevent any bloodshed between you and the man you fought"

"...And you're a blood mage too," Alexandria face-palms at Solomon's words, "Why am I not surprised? Use your own blood and tears if you really need it. You're human, and extradimensional here. We're all extradimensional here. And if it will keep you from convincing the locals to try to lynch us I can shape the metal you require with my nano forge."

"Anywho~ What were you two doing before you got dragged into this mess? I was trying to enjoy a nice cup of tea and catch up on some reading, and the next thing I knew, I woke up here! And I don't sleep, so that's pretty weird!"

"Me? I was just preparing for my next match in the locker room when I found myself here. I mean, I'm already an S ranker and two-time Prize Queen, so one match won't really destroy my career, but I do hope they didn't wait for me, that would suck..."

When they arrived at the town, before going to the shops, she sidled over to Eon, quietly speaking to the large dragon.

"So, uh... I kind of missed the whole gold giveaway thing while I was talking to Magna. Do you happen to have any more high-purity gold? Like, as pure as possible."

She didn't really have a particular use for gold, but from what she remembered, the metal had some very helpful properties...

"When you attacked Visrii for no discernable reason and were concussed for your efforts your magical focus was confiscated to prevent you from attacking anyone else. And that blood comment? That is exactly why I am keeping you as far from the locals as I can manage."

"Oh fine then I'll just throw rocks at anything hostile".

The grey cloaked man takes a chocolate coin from his pocket.

"I am pleasantly surprised by the continuing existence of this coin, do you want one? They're made from chocolate, also what do you mean by magic?"

Snow, the Lady Ashford.

"Hmm, I'm only doing what's right. I've lead my nation through the same. You don't deserve a group you cannot trust in this matter. Sadly, I can't control what's on offer other than myself. I hope this all works out for your people. I'll use my strength as I can to help and as I see fit. I respect the leader and warrior I see in you, and I respect your people if they've fought this long and are still here to fight. There is a strength in your resolve I can feel. And as a warrior... I respect that resolve. It is the noblest thing to fight for. " She had turned to say, before she had quite left the door.

She passed, the one that referred to herself as Alexandria... was it? on the way out, and quickly whispered to her. "Keep an eye on that one for me while I'm gone. I don't trust him. These people deserve better from us and if he continues on his path... disassociate him from us. If he proves to be a threat to these people... I'll personally remove him. Or, I suppose you could do the honors. I don't truly know what you're capable of, but I'm sure that it out does anything he could by miles. He's not redeemable, as far as I'm aware. Keep an eye on him always."

"You wave your hands, and books appear to do your bidding with no detectable force connecting them. When you ignore the laws of physics for a thematic set of superhuman abilities that's magic."

"And until he proves he cannot be trusted beyond a shadow of a doubt, no one is going to kill him. Or anyone else without due cause. "
