[IC] TotMV:G2: The Battered Hero

Visrii strolled through the town, a sullen but determined place. Many walls were crumbling, perhaps damage from the Heartless. He examined the claw marks on a particular wall - it was much like a wolf's but much more vicious and deep. "And I've only got a knife to fight these things?" Visrii whistled, both impressed and excited. "That is going to be one hell of a fight." He returned to the guide (vaguely remembering the blow to the guts from earlier) and waited outside, bored.

Eon

Now that they had finally gotten to the town, perhaps he could examine some of the wares. Shopkeepers tended to either be slightly curious or absolutely terrified of him. The latter group often tended to try and pay their way out of danger, even though they weren't in any. Regardless, he would at least learn about what some of the goods made in this world are like. While in thought however, Kagari came back up to him.

"So, uh... I kind of missed the whole gold giveaway thing while I was talking to Magna. Do you happen to have any more high-purity gold? Like, as pure as possible."

"Oh yes, I believe I have some more. Catch," Eon replied as a rift opened up above, but slightly in front of Kagari with a box containing high-purity gold inside of it.

"I am a gravitational anomaly," Alexandria observes mildly, "So are Eon the dragon and It That Embraces the... thing. I do not know how they do it, but I am constructed from supernaturally dense metals."

"I meant the dragon, it's mere existence violates the square-cube law; it should be one long stream of dragon pancake, but it floats through the air, as if gravity was nothing but a suggestion, a mere guideline as opposed to a universal law, but then again I saw a drider walking around, and the hostile stranger managed to break free from the world's weakest hole in space, that and earlier today I saw a woman bring several creatures back to life while carrying a scythe and wearing a mask, and another woman hit a monster with her butt; today has been an odd fever dream for me, I'm just hoping that I won't meet a sharply dressed rabbit carrying a man portable chronometer next."

"Wonderful, you got the Alice in Wonderland reference, you know this is sort of embarrassing, but I seem to have forgotten your name, being electrocuted once and hit in the back of the head twice can do that to a person.".

The hologram vanishes in a wash of fading static. "I am Alexandria, the Primus Councillor. I have many names and many titles, but these are the only ones that matter. Well, in my own opinion at any rate."

"Well my name is Solomon, and I am a wizard!".

The grey cloaked man rushes to countertop, and says

"Shopkeeper, two glasses of hot tea, earl grey with a bit of honey abd milk in ine of them, and make sure to deliver them to me posthaste".

The grey cloaked man waits for a few moments, and the shopkeep hands Solomon two bottles filled with an odd liquid.

"This is not tea, what am I supposed to do with this?"

The shop keeper replied with "It's a potion, you drink it when you're injured".

The grey cloaked man snatches the two potions bottles while muttering a thank you, and he hands one to the robotic lady.

"Can you analyze this liquid? It might be poisoned".

"To become... a god? That seems a little... dangerous. But then again, I'm an embodiment of Death itself, so what's there to worry?" Magna chuckled, as she thought to herself. Leon had specified a place to meet when they were all ready to go. However, some of the party were already beginning to separate and act on their own, instead of preparing like Leon suggested. Even Kagari seemed to have an agenda of her own, so Magna supposed she would try and scout out potential allies in the meantime. Should the others decide to join Leon, then so would she. "The local townsfolk seem to be giving out potions to our party. H.K., would mind grabbing some for the three of us? Kagari seems to have drawn interest in the dragon."

Of course, she had no idea if potions even worked on the undead. Restoration properties were always a strange gray area for her, as she found that some did, and some did not. At worst, she could just hand it off to either of her allies who could make use of it. In the meantime, there was one who caught even Magna's attention, back in the first battle together. A knight of considerable prestige, considering the condition of the armor. Normally, she would try and not associate with knights; often times they were associated with the Church, and divinity never boded well for her.

However, something was different. It's soul, which burned fiercely, much unlike the other humans. Either this knight was someone of great accolade, or it was an entity of another kind entirely. Magna would never have considered it at first, but the existence of other sentience greater than humans caused her to think otherwise. Magna approached, her footsteps were light; for they didn't have the flesh to weigh them down. Alone, the knight was. And alone, was the perfect opportunity to approach.

"Greetings Sir Knight, I hope you're free for some company to have a little chat," Magna began. Beneath the visor of the entity's helm, she could not see. What lay beyond the steel that encompasses? On that topic, what about the robes that conceal the body? Was there something that lurked behind a human form? Magna could only describe this as intrigue. She felt compelled to know. And, if she may be ambitious, she would penetrate past these disguises. "Magna Sigyl," she introduced. She paused a little before continuing, to see if Magna could draw out a reaction, perhaps a reply. "What do you make of the recent events?"

Alexandria pops the top off her bottle, sticks a finger in, and then inserts the wet finger into her mouth. "Hm." Having a finger in her mouth doesn't seem to impede her ability to talk. "This shouldn't harm any living being I've encountered, unless they drowned in it. But I am incapable of detecting detrimental magic. If this is a healing potion, it doesn't seem to work on me. Not unexpected. Tastes like used sock, though." She frees her finger and corks the bottle. "Still, it could be useful if I'm to spend time around this many organics. Somebody's bound to get themselves dismembered sooner or later."

The Hellfire Knight simply shrugs and walks up to the commercial area, stumping up the stairs rather slowly. After reaching the top, the cloaked figure approaches the owner of one of the item shops, and issues a short request for supplies for three people. They disappear into the back, and return quickly with three small bottles of a greenish substance and an armored brace of some sort. The Knight accepts them with a slight bow, and begins the slow process of descending the stairs without overbalancing.

Snow, The Lady Ashford.

The meditating knight breathed a deep sigh. She wasn't really expecting company. She didn't move from her position. Had she a real form, she'd have only opened a single eye, though, her sense worked as if anchored to real sensory organs. Aelia, did this to ease the understanding of the new form, though... Snow couldn't really ever say she was every entirely comfortable with it.

She tried to not lose her temper for once, she was sure she was being sought out for a reason. But, her patience wasn't going to be long. However, she found herself staring at the the one know as Magna. "The necromancer? Strange... what could she want?"

"Hmmm... firstly, might need your eyes checked if you think I'm a man, but I get it a lot cause apparently I'm too rough to be a woman. Secondly to what end do you speak? The entirely of this situation... or our... rather eccentric companions...?"

Eon

Having given Kagari the requested item, Eon decides to go into the town to find supplies. Granted, they probably didn't have something that worked specifically for him, but perhaps there were some general supplies that were around. As he was floating towards the town though, he ran into someone on the stairs. After a moment of recollection, he remembered that this person introduced themself as the Hellfire Knight.

"Oh, hello again. I don't believe we spoke much after our first encounter. How were the supplies, and are any of them potentially suitable for my use?" Eon asks, noting the potion-like items and bracer that they are holding, wondering if they would be effective at all on himself.

It, once again, took the Hellfire Knight a large amount of effort to avoid jumping, which in this case would have resulted in a nasty tumble down the remainder of the stairs. As it was, Eon was treated to a nice burst of static as the person beneath the cloak attempted to recollect themselves. "Um. There doesn't seem to be a problem with them, but I have no idea if they would work on a . . . dragon?" The voice changer masked much, but not all of the questioning tone. Certainly, Eon was an unusual sight.

"Ah, because I have access to a night infinite supply of the first, made out of any material that I could possibly imagine, except for Antimatter, the last time I tried summoning one I was fined for blowing up a moon, but anyway I have yet another seemingly benign question for you, how good is your hearing?"

Eon

Eon was somewhat confused as to the sudden burst of static that occurred before the Hellfire Knight started actually speaking. He wondered whether or not they were more mechanical overall for a moment, but decided that it wasn't a pressing issue. He did however catch a little bit of their questioning of what he was, which was understandable.

"Yes, finding things that actually work for me can be quite a hassle. And yes, I am a dragon, though I apparently don't resemble the normal dragons this crowd seems to be used to. Then again, even in my realm space dragons weren't the most common of sights. Though that's another story for another time. What about yourself? What was your realm of origin like?" Eon decided to ask, curious about the individual before him.

"Can you check for a heartbeat using your hearing? because I have some suspicions that I would love to confirm or deny, and also because that would be very useful for coordinating the usage of medical supplies."

The grey cloaked man turned to face the engineer once more, and he said

"So... are you enjoying the book?"

"Only at ranges that a human would be able to detect it. However, my broad spectrum E.M. scanner is working properly, so I can detect heat and other emissions as long as I am not near that dragon. His presence drowns out anything else I might be looking at. It's harmless, but enough."

The Knight carefully descends the remaining stairs before replying. "Tempest? I don't really know how to compare it, I guess. It is divided into eight planes, and each plane is ruled by a god. All of the gods were human, and there have been ten so far. I am fighting to become the Eleventh. There isn't really intelligent life besides humans, and some AIs. A lot of technology runs on favor. . ." They trail off for a moment, standing silently for a bit. "I apologize, I do not know what to say aboit it."

Aurora

Left the her own devices as the strangers scattered, the spider had taken to scoping out her new surroundings. It was a rather easy prospect, sticking the shade and silently eyeing the fleshbags who ran the stands and buildings filled with a myriad of things, most of them she'd never seen before; odd trinkets and alien materials, strange glowing stones and vials filled with liquids of an uncertain nature. None of it kept her attention all that well though. Not like any of it was edible, and trying to take one of the fleshies from the stores was probably more trouble than it was worth in the end. Like with the strangers, there were too many. Unlike the strangers though, the one with the odd blade she'd seen before was proof enough that this place probably wasn't full of absolutely oblivious morons. They'd be far more likely to notice a scream or brief struggle in the split-second frame of time between Aurora pouncing and her actually silencing the target, compared to the deaf mutts who'd not heard a single thing right over their heads earlier.

She'd already had one of them notice her when she got too close to an open window while peering in, the girl had been taking inventory when she stopped for a break and practically pissed herself at the sight. She probably hadn't given it much thought when she chucked the nearest object as hard as she could, didn't matter how valuable it was, she just wanted the damn thing to leave, whatever the hell it was, heartless or no. Aurora found it funny even, as she simply moved out of the painfully predictable paths of the objects. All her screaming and hysterics, it felt... familiar. So wonderfully familiar... but before she'd had much time to relish in it or wonder why it felt so right, the girl had started reaching for a rod of some sort, and instead of throwing it she pointed it right at her as the air heated up. Embers were always a bad sign, and that's when instinct took over. Aurora had made herself scarce before the single bolt of flames ever made it out of the open window frame and off into the drab sky beyond.

But not before nabbing one of the many things the girl had flung... a little green vial, glowing. It smelled sweet almost, really the only reason she picked it up. Perhaps it's taste matched the smell... but there was no way she was going to stop right then and there to find out; the fleshy might've tried something stupid in all her fear, taken that rod and come outside to make sure she was gone.

And there were very few things worth braving the wrath of hot fire. She kept further from the windows after that, made sure to not leave the cover of the shade if at all possible. Because, if even more of them had the power to command fire, or worse yet the cold, then it was indeed as she had thought: these fleshies were far more trouble to pursue than they were worth.

"Thanks!"

Kagari shouted her appreciation at the dragon as he walked... flew... floated? She shouted at him as he increased his spatial displacement, then ducked into a secluded alley, hiding behind one of the houses. After looking around to ascertain that there was no chance of being seen, she quickly popped the gold into her mouth and swallowed.

"Hrmm. Tastes weird. Really weird."

Being essentially a walking, sentient mass of digestive juices, there was no need to chew. She felt a slight tingling as her body dissolved the gold, her core instinctively memorising its shape and composition. She was about to leave her cover, then she thought twice about it. Now was a prime time for her to take a second form in case an upcoming battle required it, and she wasn't all too keen on showing off her transformative abilities in front of the others. Not as long as they still thought she was human. Who knew whether they'd go EXP-crazy once they found out about her true identity?

[Kagari has attained "Gold" as a sub-form]

She considered which set of equipment would probably help her more. They had enough frontliners, so perhaps more firepower would be better. She decided on the IJN Akizuki as her rigging, and a part of her body split apart from her main mass. It spasmed and contorted, then began to take on a more defined shape, becoming solid in form and structure. When it had fully settled, her appearance had changed significantly. Her hair was now tied into a ponytail, held in place by a miniature anti-aircraft fire detector. Her abdomen was enclosed in a metal corset, her neck was covered with a similar neck guard. The corset extended outward in a manner reminiscent of a ship's twin bow, with the left side holding a Type 98 25mm twin high angle mount and the right side holding a 12.5mm triple autocannon mount. A holster on her left arm held a set of four spare barrels for the type 98, and a thigh holster on her right leg held a 31mm Quadruple Oxygen Torpedo mount.

[Kagari is now in Light Cruiser mode]

Spinning around and looking herself over, she nodded, satisfied, and moved over to the house their guide had indicated, waiting for the group to leave.
