[IC] TotMV:G2: The Battered Hero

The grey cloaked man stopped and noticed something as he walked back to the building; that he might need something that is a lot stronger than just beer; after a moment of deliberation The grey cloaked man found out exactly what he wanted, a bottle of vodka; he had only ever drunk vodka once before, and it was at a fancy restaurant where they add a little of it to the top of a drink and set it on fire, it was worth losing his mustache, but there was a problem, he knew that none of the shops here "sold" Vodka, or at the very least they wouldn't sell it to him, but he had a lead.

Earlier today, Leon had talked about someone named Cid, and how one would have to try and convince them to give them some whiskey; this was the only lead the grey cloaked man had, and while there was absolutely nothing that would prove that this "Cid" would have any Vodka with them, finding them seemed like a better idea than simply moping around with the engineer, the android, and the knived nut.

And so the grey cloaked man went in search of Cid.

(I randomly ask shopkeepers if they knew where Cid was)

Snow, The Lady Ashford.

Suddenly the woman exhaled, another small bit of frozen moisture escaping from her helm. "Hmm. So, that was your aim. I see."

Snow shifted ever so slightly. It be normally an unnoticeable movement but her armour gave it away. The metal rang ever so slightly, giving off a soft and oddly pleasant sound. It was as if one had lightly tapped a bell. It was strangely harmonic for armour. She was relieved it was something of such a nature, but couldn't help but mull over a new thought. Why her? Up until now Snow had really not shown much other than the layer of ice that resided over the tip of her. Typically it accomplished just what she wanted it to... keeping people at a respectable and icy distance. So, what was different here?

Perhaps it was her experience they were after, or something she didn't quite understand. But, this group was certainly full of strange and otherwise odd individuals. Perhaps she seemed the most level-headed of them. Probably couldn't be that. It was easier to just ask then mull it over and over.

"Hmmm, I understand your motivations, At least in regards to the alliance. But, why ask me? Surely there is some reason you do so."

"To put it simply, you're one of the more rational ones. Of course, you wouldn't be the only one, but I've yet to meet the others yet. But from what I can tell, many of them are too hot-headed or carefree to be reliable," Magna said bluntly. There was no sugar-coating her words; Magna wanted to ascertain as soon as possible, whether or not Snow could be a potential ally or not. "Well, in the end, it's up to you how you want to read into it. I also want more allies because it's more fun that way~"

"You don't have to give me an answer immediately. So do at least think it through," Magna encouraged. "I'll be heading on ahead to meet with Leon. See you down there~"

(Feel free to have Snow interject here, and/or to follow me to the meeting place)

Magna found her way back to the appointed meeting place, looking around to see if Kagarin or H.K. was there. She spotted H.K. sitting down, and Magna made her way over and sat beside her. "Hiya H.K.~ Make any new friends while I was gone?"

Snow, The Lady Ashford.

"I don't see why I'd refuse seeing as we are bound into helping each other already. There's not much point in refusing the offer, but it makes me wonder why offer something you know is certain." Snow said following the strange necromancer of sorts. She wasn't typically fond of their sort. Most of them tended to be rather... untrustworthy. But, she did knwo that those that weren't of that variety tended to make strong and good allies. After all if they were strong willed enough to resist the allure of the dark... well, surely their word was all the much stronger. Seeing as this Magna was here with them, she assumed she was some sort of force of good. But, what type she'd not yet ascertained. After all... the one with the books was sent here as well.

"You are a strange one. Hopefully strange in a good way, and not... like some of our allies."

Meanwhile, the grey cloaked man had been busy with his search for the notorious drunk; he knew that the chances of him finding the man, and he definitely knew what his chances of actually convincing the man to give up his liquor would be like; he imagined it like taking candy from a baby; in the sense that a very cross mother would soon appear and beat him up for said act, but he was desperate; where he else could he find a viable source of ethanol? what else would he mix with lamp fluid to make that sweet-sweet molotov cocktail? what else would keep him warm in those cold lonely nights? which is why the grey cloaked man walked towards the store; he knew that the last five stores he visited was of no help whatsoever, but a man can dream can't he?

The door was open; it was wide open; "Well that won't do" the grey cloaked man thought to himself as he forcefully closed and opened the door, and he ran inside while saying the same words that failed him all this time.

"Hello? Do YOU KNOW WHERE CID IS?"

(Simply put, ignore that this happened unless you're Empiricist, in which case you know what to do)

Izumi Kurosawa

What did I miss the most? Yes, I know it hasn't been that long, but I might as well get the list started. You'd think it'd be the busyness, the lights, the sound, the myriad stories intersecting, if only for the briefest of moments. You'd be wrong. Join the club. I thought so as well. But no, don't feel a thing. It's not that. It's not the lights either. And it definitely isn't the traffic. No, it's the sky, the rain, that damn drizzle. They don't have it here, not right now at least, not constantly. The sky, it looks almost empty, lifeless.

"Hey, Sif..."

"Sif!"

"I heard you the first time."

"Does it feel weird?"

"I do not understand the question."

"Being here I mean, away from h-" Nope, can't say it. "Away from your flock, or whatever they're calling it these days."

"This current circumstance is an anomaly." Like I said, duller than most bricks. Still sometimes, it beats talking to someone with an actual life. Did I say 'sometimes'? I meant to say most times. Hey, don't judge me. I talk to enough 'real' people on the clock.

"Thanks."

"You do not sound thankful." We must've had this exchange a hundred times by now. Call it an inside joke of ours if you will. Was just about to answer it as well, until-

"Izumi. No matter what happens, I will stand by you; as long as you remain useful. And I will protect you; so long as it is beneficial to do so."

"Thanks. I didn't need assurances, and you're still bad at it, but, thanks." Kinda hope he never will be good at it - don't think I'd ever get used to it. Not sure if the universe would be ready for it either.

And then, waltzed in that lunatic. Twirling her complimentary potion, the shrine maiden regards him with an icy glare and a sigh. You know, now that he mentioned him, didn't Cid have a stash of drinks? She nods to him.

"Go ask Leon, he's at the meeting area. I think I'll need to see him as well, got a feeling I'll need a drink."

She of course, neglects to mention the reason for her drinking - the soon-to-be irritating reason currently standing there, yelling like a moron in an enclosed space.

Kurosawa returns to the meeting area.

Edmond shifted against the wall, the butt of the confiscated halberd digging into his back. It briefly occurred to him that it might not be wise to sit with a sharpened blade between one's back and a wall. Not certain what to do with this implement, the likely perpetrator of innumerable atrocities, he placed it on the floor beneath his knees. He resumed his reading, but only for a moment, before he was once again distracted.

A shadow, cast by the figure of the substantial android, had fallen across the ancient work gently resting on Edmond's lap. This slight disturbance, though not wholly impeding Edmond's perusal, somewhat diminished his enjoyment. He glanced up, and was not entirely surprised to see Alexandria staring down at the book, electronic eyes scrolling over the pages.

"I presume you're capable of translating Latin, then? I don't mind you reading, but I am slightly inconvenienced by the shadow you're casting. Would you move just a few inches to the right, if you don't mind?"

After posing his request, Edmond took a moment to glance around the room; something he hadn't yet done, due to the unforseen collision between a book and his shoulder. The rather large room appeared to constitute the entirety of the building. In the center was positioned a large rough-hewn oaken table, surrounded by similarly fashioned chairs. The table was devoid of anything except dust, a few brown stains, and the illumination from a window to the left of the door. Beyond this coarse piece of furniture, was what appeared to be a rather large antique computer terminal, making idle clicking noises intermittently. An unstable bookshelf leaned against the wall of the dwelling, with a collection of exotic volumes haphazardly placed on the shelves. As Edmond's eyes drifted over a large couch to his right, he wondered momentarily why he was sitting on the wooden floor. He considered moving, but, upon further deliberation, decided not to combat inertia, as he was reasonably comfortable where he was.

A fly of some inscrutable nature droned as it drifted aimlessly about the room, first above the coarse grained table, then round the computer, and past the couch. In a fit of some suicidal or ignorant madness, the creature, perhaps growing bored with its explorations, launched an unprovoked attack at Edmond's head. It performed a series of complicated and dizzying acrobatics, rapidly circling Edmond's head, but other than annoyance, caused no real harm. Had this been any other day, any day on which Edmond had not been surrounded by a mob of conflicting personalities, any day on which he was not subject to his present flurry of emotions and apprehensions, this manic fly would likely have died an ignoble death, crushed unconsciously by the palm of Edmonds hand. Today, he halfheartedly swiped at the insect, sending it reeling. Perhaps belatedly realizing its mistake, or perhaps distracted by some odor or motion, the fly abrubtly flew off under the table, and did not reappear.

To Edmond, this insect was a comfort, a relief from the undisciplined chaos, a small proof that the mundane still existed in this bizarre realm into which he had been thrust. The fly, little knowing the impact of its actions, served as a reminder to Edmond that he was not utterly lacking in knowledge of this world, regardless of how insignificant that knowledge might be. From this realization, Edmond's initial well-concealed agitation evaporated somewhat. The fly, of course having no such epiphany of its own, and no comprehension of what relief it had bestowed upon the engineer, busied itself with the digestion of some rather appetizing cruor from beneath the table.

The grey cloaked man watched the shotgun toting woman walk away from the store, and he sighed; a beautiful woman walking away, that's the story of his life, right there, but he ignored that nagging voice in the back of his head, and he walked slowly towards the counter top, and he turned to face the shopkeeper, an average looking man with short average looking hair, and the grey cloaked man smiled as widely as possible.

"So, can we try this again? do you know where I can find a man named Cid? any help would be very appreciated, I thank you in advance for any information that you might be able to give"

Aurora

Finding them was easy, with so many different scents to follow all leading to the same place. Silken knapsack and all her stolen goods inside it on her back, she crept out of the shade and towards the front entrance of the house. All fleshbags inside it seemed- well... no, that wasn't entirely true. There was the tall metal person, and then the... strange fleshie who was not actually fleshie and smelled far too familiar for some reason, like one of those odd little blobs she'd found in the dark place with all the water long ago, before the girl and squid had finally said they were all ready to leave that place. Yes, the little ones who she'd have to compete with for who nabbed the rats first and got to eat... though most of the time, she ended winning quite handedly through basic trickery; spin a web where she knew they'd pass through, and the little fools would waste all their time trying to eat their way through it instead of simply going another route and continuing to hunt. Turned out that whatever the blobs were, they hadn't been very bright.

Regardless though, aside from those two, it was fleshies galore. And much to her dismay, neither the space serpent who let her talk without feeling like she was slowly killing herself, or the White One was anywhere to be seen. Which meant she was stuck waiting among all these.... potential pieces of meat. The odd words of the White One echoed through her addled mind even now:

[scolding: Do not eat your allies, young one.We will find sustenance for you.]

She grumbled at the thought, before remembering the ever so slight weight on her back. Well, she did manage to nab all these goods... perhaps it wouldn't be so bad a wait afterall. Without a sound, literally undetectable in her sheer silence, she crept passed the entrance and into the confined space... finding a dark corner to call her own not too long after, watching them all with those glinting beads of silver.

Katsuo

Katsuo thanked the shopkeep politely and then turned to leave and find the others.

Gwaedu spun about and then emitted a short jingle.

"getItemSound.mp4? What does that even mean? And for that matter, how do I know what you meant if I don't know what that means?"

Gwaedu gave the earring's equivalent of a shrug.

"Anyways," Katsuo said, ignoring her, "it seems that these shops are rather well stocked, considering the state of things. I guess not many people come here to buy stuff."

Gwaedu swung back and forth solemnly.

"I have no clue what you're even saying."

Gwaedu spun once.

"Humming? You can't hum without making any noise."

Gwaedu spun indignantly.

"Ultrasonic frequencies, sure, I definitely believe that."

Gwaedu spun again, this time with more urgency.

"Wall?" Katsuo said as he suddenly walked into a wall.

It took a surprising amount of attention to talk to Gwaedu, so even though he had been staring straight at it, he didn't notice the obvious obstacle. Coincidentally, this was also his destination. He went inside to join the rest of the group. He still needed to decide who to give the sedatives to. He had yet to sort out who he should trust. Back home he always had someone backing him up, someone who could incapacitate him if he became a danger to his allies. But she wasn't here, so he needed to find someone else to watch him. Gwaedu's only suggestion was "frozen Al," he wasn't really sure who that meant and she wouldn't elaborate. Sometimes her stubbornness was a little annoying

Eon

"I'm not too surprised. Most people don't expect a dragon's voice to suddenly pop into their head. Though like this, you can let me know what's in the shop, and I can see if anything in there is something I may want for one reason or another," Eon thought to her, glad that she was apparently familiar with telepathy. This made a few things much easier.

"Now then, when you go into the shop, I'll be in front of the door so you don't run out before you actually get the supplies you need. And if you have any questions, just communicate with me through the link and I'll try to answer them," Eon finished, hoping that the girl would be ready to go into the shop and actually finish a purchase.

"Okay" Bridgett replied in her mind to Eon as she headed into the store.

Walking around the store she opened the link again "So what are you looking for the have accessories, eyedrops,weapons...."  she continued to list of an assortment of items doing her best to keep from running  as the shop keeper watched her wonder the store.

Eon

"Accessories or consumables would be the most likely bet. I doubt they have practical weapons or armor for me," Eon responded. He didn't think that the armor this place would have would actually fit him, and accessories tended to have some magical properties...usually. This world may be different, but even then they could be used for research or something.

"Okay i will just pick up a thing of basics stuff. I Doubt that i would have the money for thing's other then what Leon said we could have." She thought back to Eon as she approached the counter. Her thoughts became a lot more worried as the man behind the counter looked up at her "Ah back for round six now are you little lady." he said with a smile.

"Ummm....Ummm..." Bridgett started to try and say something."Run, i got to run, i can't do this." Her thoughts where saying unaware that she was broadcasting them back to Eon as she started to walk backwards.

"Weren't you supposed to be buying something?" Eon brodcasted in a loud, stern voice. "You know that I certainly can't go in the store that easily, which is why I need you to go for me. Now go back to the counter and try and talk to the shopkeeper. Or if you can't, have Morning Arrows do it. It seemed to be capable of interacting with others, so use that if you must."

Theodore

Theo has been wandering at the back if the group, headphones on, minding his own business. As everyone else seems to be going their own ways, entering shops and the like, Theo decides to follow suit. He looks for a shop selling those health potions that Leon mentioned.

"EEP!!" Bridgett said in her mind and out loud as Eon's voice sounded in her mind "Is something wrong miss?"The shopkeeper asked. "Umm...No i just bumped something."  Bridgett said with a embarrassed look on her face. "Sorry...it s just hard" She thought back to Eon.

Taking a deep breath Bridgett went back to the the counter. "I...umm...n-need t-to get some b-ba-basic suppies." She said to the shop keeper her voice trailing out at the end. "I sorry what was that miss? i couldn't her you." The shopkeeper asked

Bridgett tried to say something again but her couldn't make anything come out. She almost ran away again until Mornings Arrow chimed in "My lady would like two of supplies that Leon informed us you were able to spare." it said its monotone causing Bridgett to stop moving back. "Ah..." The shopkeeper looked at the device and back to Bridgett. "Well i was told to give one per person why do you need two?" He asked

"O-one of the o-others i-is out-side. H-he can't f-fit inside." Bridgett said meekly "Ah i see well her you go." The shopkeeper said as he placed the items on the counter. Bridgett slowly approached and grabbed the items, and then quickly ran out the door not looking causing her to run into Eon. "Items gather" Mornings Arrow chimed at Eon well Bridgett was trying to slow her heart rate.

"Well done you two," Eon states in his own voice. "That wasn't nearly as hard as it seemed was it?" he asked the girl. Though really, he had expected this to be slightly harder for himself also. He was glad to see that Bridgett wasn't the type of person who constantly tried to back out of things. Dealing with individuals like those, while not impossible, certainly took a toll.
