[In the barracks]

"Ah, depth perception, how I missed you," Alexandria plugs her repaired optical sensor in with a smile, "I believe I am at optimal performance levels.  Commencing item synthesis and gauss retrofitting."

[OOC:  Anyone who wants it may modify their guns with the Gaussgun special property.  In exchange for keeping a 6013 fuel cell, which Alexandria provides, plugged into the weapon, the gun's damage dice increase in size by 1 stage.  d4 to d6, d6 to d8, d8 to d10, d10 to d12, and d12 to 2d8.  Izumi also recieves a small Shinto shrine, painstakingly machined to near-perfect symmetry.]

------------

[On the roof]

After a few moments of thought, before the hellfire barrier goes up, Lexiel ducks out of her wards, which recognize their caster and let her through.  She takes cover behind the cannon Ritsu is examining.  "Hello, ma'am.  Name's Lexiel.  It's a pleasure to meet you.  You might want to take cover.  I have little idea what's going on over there, but their containment procedures are definitely insufficient for what they're trying to do."

"Sure. I'll see what I can do." Halley took out her megaphone and left the kitchen. Immediately, she found a man fully in black, strolling through the grand hall. "Hey you, man in black! Do you wanna help out with making dinner?" The megaphone blared at Leon. The volume was turned down quite a bit, but it still pack a force. The sound could still be heard in the other rooms, although considerably weakened in volume.

Summoning up her magical power, Lexiel creates two strong wards in concentric circles, Argent, Following along, to their own beat, Conjures a Dome of Hellfire, encompassing everyone inside.  The Sweltering heat is nothing compared to the tension of this experiment.  Much like Solomon's Pork rinds, it seems that this event is getting rather spicy.

Mar takes out the obsidian and channels mana into his own skin and the obsidian, creating Arcanite Chains from it.  Theodore's Music Strengthens the chains, the Heavy Metal ringing out and resonating with the magic, when the song is finished the Chains glow a Blinding white, like metal glowing too hot, rather than any particular light magic, the light of power, rather than holiness.

Mar Links these chains together, forging the Heartless Armor Chain and the Arcanite Chain together, forming the Harness that will bind the Heartless within.  Then he places the shard inside the harness, gently, even.  and raps it with a rock, cracking it wide open, suddenly, a Churning dark cloud sweeps out of the gem, wapring as it bubbles around the chains binding it, like a balloon inflated while tied with string, it forms into the Possessor, which, hearing Theodore's Song, thrashes viciously, Mar Grabs the end of the chain, wrapping it around his arms several times, Discarding his Sword in the process, He tightens the chain's binding around his arm as much as he dares, Pulling the possessor nearer and nearer.

Solomon's Crunch of a Pork rind synchronizes with Mar's eyes hardening as he forces eye contact with the Possessor.

One could hear a pin drop as Mar looks the Heartless right in the eye, daring it to do anything.

A second Crunch rings out, and Mar starts slapping himself with his free hand, Roaring at the Heartless and Maintaining that Eye Contact, getting More and more pissed off with the rapid fire slaps to himself, He knows it's a bit sneaky, exploiting his own temper like this, but then he forgets that too, his slaps getting less and less coherent until his eyes are blood shot and slobber flecks from his mouth.  As he gets angrier, he is able to hurt himself less and less with the little love taps, but he can feel his muscles bulging nonetheless.

A thought comes unbidden, in the midst of him forgetting just what the hell he was doing, as he gets so worked up trying to scare this thing, he almost forgets the point.

Ok, now calm down.

But the monster is right there? It's waiting, It can't even move, much less defend itself.  He shakes his head again, tightening his grip on the chains.

He remembers his Medicine Bag.  He remembers why he is fighting.

As suddenly and all at once it came, his face loses it.  His eyes go back.  He grins, and possibly making it flinch, reaches over with his other hand.

"Do good for me, little sneak."

He Loosens the chains, giving it slack slowly, maintaining eye contact, but gripping the possessor with his hand now, patting it lightly.

His head turns, all but DEMANDING the Heartless follow his line of sight as he slowly looks over to an empty spot.

He walks over, sets down the empty bottle that once held his Orcish Brew, Leaving the Heartless where it was and slacking the chain more.  Upon rising back up to his full height.  He points down at the Orcish Medicine bottle.

"Go."

He says, slowly, enunciating his words like nobody else had heard him before.  The single Syllable holding the weight of a mountain.  Ready to crash down at the slightest twitch that does not please it.

Ritsu [On rooftop]

"Is that right? Hopefully whatever they're doing doesn't affect any of the ammo in these cannons," Ritsu notes, having scanned the cannons for their contents and conditions. The rounds themselves were all 420mm battleship rounds, though the mechanisms for firing were...questionable at best. Ritsu could possibly fix it given enough time and materials, but it seemed that other things were going on. Including the person besides her.

"Ritsu Tomogi is my name incidentally. As for the group over there...exactly what are they doing?" Ritsu asks, her tail also forming a question mark.

Tesla

1 hour ago, Strider said:

Violet eyes...? That's interesting.
"Well, I'm not sure how it went for everyone else, but I woke up on the ground in a canyon not too far away. It's all rather vague, but I believe I was summoned through a dream, so it's quite possible that I agreed to this. I know it's odd, but this has been a very strange day...Back home, I was the engineer of a small squad in the LFC special forces division. We were on assignment on Tantalus-4... How did you come to be here?"

"More of the same stuff in here. Reports and such...maybe they'll focus on different things? Hopefully..."

"Don't know." she admitted, just a bit bitterly. "One minute, I'm trying to clear an escape route... well, more like blast one through the nearest wall and anything behind it... then I wake up here, with no trace of anyone I was trying to evacuate, no clue as to where the hell I even was but knowing damn well it wasn't where I should be, and surrounded by a bunch of strangers who looked just as completely confused as I did"

"oh, and don't worry about those, I already took a glance through it before I spotted the box here. Just a bunch of old maintenance checklists and notes from what I saw. Try the ones above though, didn't get to them before I found the prints"

She paused, turning back to the table. But from the look on her face, it was obvious there was something more on her mind...

"You got any kids back home, Edmond? Nieces, nephews maybe?"

Aurora

Quote

"Um, 'scuse me ma'am but could I offer ya some bacon?"

Against her better judgement, which in her state, wasn't much considering just how much of itself her mind lacked, she slowly turned to the offer, curiosity of whether he really had any bacon getting the better of her. She still found his tagging presence annoying, but if he was giving things freely, well...there was still plenty of room in the bag. And the rafters were dark, the ceiling high with just leap or two, she could be out of his sight...

Without a word, the spider nodded to the stranger follower, eyes oddly pensive with their silver gleam...

[On the roof]

"I heard possession, broken container, and some kind of sound-based subdual method.  So I slapped the strongest secondary containment I could around it and now I'm finding cover behind a large, metal thing," Lexiel explains to the best of her abilities, "I wouldn't worry about the ammo.  Cannons are generally pretty stable unless exposed to loads of fire, and whatever they're sealing isn't going to burn stuff.  You should join me.  There's plenty of room behind this cannon, and I'd not recommend being out in the open if that ritual blows up in their faces."

Andre nods and after a bit of fiddling, pulls out a package of bacon. The smell is simply amazing and the the bacon looks to be cooked to perfection. It's very, very nice and sure to be a good meal. He holds it out for Aurora to take.

"Um, I happen to be new here. Uh... So you're like, a spider person? That's uh, that's really cool... Back home I used to help tend to the giant spiders. Made most of our ropes and stuff with their silk. Uh... got bit a few times but you get used to the venom right?"

Andre chuckles awkwardly as he scratches the back of his head.

"And that is how Orc-kind handles animal husbandry."

Mar's Chest Puffs Up with pride as he stows his sword, managing this pet will be a 2 hand job.

He goes over to Lexial and the others.

"The problem is solved.  Do you need assistance?  Also, Have a look at what once was the cause of all our problems on this blasted castle."

Mar Gestures to the now Harmless Clay Bottle, Black and smokey like a little movie was painted on it.  The movie being one of a Possessor's Tall eyes Looking over and around, it's jagged mouth quivering, he won't be taking Orcish Brew on the Go for a while it seems.  But at least He got something arguably more useful in return.

"Well, would you look at that.  Nothing exploded, released huge clouds of toxic gas, or created a highly destructive thaumic anomaly.  If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't believe it."

Ritsu

"Well, I guess whatever you were doing worked out," Ritsu remarked, looking at the bottle with...some creature inside of it. She also wasn't particularly sure of what problems this thing caused to the group earlier, but she assumed they were dealt with.

"As for assistance, these cannons could use quite a lot of work. The mechanisms inside are of dubious quality, and replacement parts will likely be needed to make these remotely workable," Ritsu told the man.

Ritsu

"In that case, I believe I can procure some of the dimensions and schematics of the cannons. One moment please," Ritsu states as she spends a moment staring at the cannon. After a few seconds, the gauntlet on her left arm opens up and prints out blueprints of the cannon that had just been scanned. She lowers her chainsaw down to the ground so she can remove the blueprints and hand them over to the man.

"This should be sufficient. Also, I don't believe I've introduced myself. I am Ritsu Tomogi, but Ritsu is fine for addressing me," she remarks, handing over the blueprints.

It shies away from the touch, if it was born yesterday, it's sample size of living things is "Scary Dangerous Attackers/Shouters/Crazy"

It obviously dares not resist, but shivers violently.

"Be careful, like all things not bred to domestication, it needs much more time to acclimate."

Izumi Kurosawa, Barracks

She turns to face the voice and- not this fucking idiot. Somehow, she manages not to sigh. She probably should've expected this to happen, he was standing there the whole time, after all, but part of her, that part being her brain, was hoping he'd leave her alone and go do, whatever it is he does. Probably something involving grenades and poor life choices, that seemed to be the theme here.

"Civil Security, the name's Izumi."

Venus

Venus gave a slight, feigned frown. Perhaps the girl was too young to be able to decipher the reasons behind that passion, but there was always something behind it that cemented it. Perhaps the girl wanted to find out herself, not knowing her true motivations, understandably so.

"One does not come into the world desiring battle," He professed. "Nor does one usually want to without reason. With all due respect, in the end, I guess I'm simply....unconvinced you did it on a whim," He placed a finger on his chin in thought. "Perhaps I'll take a guess on why you did it....affirm or deny my guesses at your discretion. Perhaps you do that to fight for your beloved? You were....inspired by something or someone, perhaps? Or perhaps yet again you are like me, and want to be strong for fame, to show the world that you're capable of much more than you are...? For fighting to be your...true face, as it would?"

"I guess I started because I was bored. I didn't really have any hobbies and I didn't need to work. Fights with Favor mechs almost never end in real injury unless the people in them do something crazy-" A brief look upward and to the side accompanies a transient look of discomfort "- so there was nothing really stopping me from picking it up. I just, um, kept going from there. I'm good at it." She sounds somewhat doubtful, as her violet gaze flicks from meeting Venus's to gazing back down at the tile floor. "I got this far, so I'm going to keep going."

Isobel had headed into the castle when other people had begun to flood into it, not having had a whole lot to do in this mystery world she'd found herself in besides ruminate on the problems that had been brought up by the appearance of that horribly, horribly wounded man -- not even by the terrible visions that she'd cowered under so much as what he'd said -- the little briefing. War, fighting monsters, saving the universe, all of that, it made sense. Everyone around her looked like some variety of magical person (though not Space Wizards at least), or a warrior, Kyle was a gangster and surely he knew how to fight, plus there had been the big metal AI woman (who had taken a grenade) and what looked an awful lot like a dragon. Even the little AI she has found herself being essentially the carrier for was some sort of tactical genius, or something like that.

So why was she here? Isobel didn't understand. She'd never taken down anyone evil or charged through any fires or cast any intricate spells or trained in swords, any of that. Sure, she'd managed to dodge a gunshot or two in her time aboard the Exodus, but... that wasn't honestly that unusual for a stationer like her, attacks or something of the sort were usually pretty much weekly. Isobel didn't know what she contributed. She was holding LOTUS when they were both summoned, so... maybe she'd just been accidentally picked up too? Was she supposed to be here? She didn't feel... worthy, she supposed, compared to how strong and formidable everyone else around her no doubt was. She was just a botanist.

Isobel took a turn into the nearest room --which as a matter of fact happened to be the Barracks, and leaned against a wall, eyes downcast and kicking lightly at the floor while LOTUS seemed to be watching his carrier, a ":/" expression plastered onto his screen.  "You're sure whatever you're moping about isn't a big enough deal to actually be affecting you?" "No... ...look, I'm okay. I'm fine." LOTUS moved his eye-dots on the screen back from their position "looking up" and instead examined what was going on in the Barracks area itself.

Izumi Kurosawa, Barracks

"Cop. Close enough to one at least. And the uniform wasn't my idea, it's one of those function over form things, the form's just that bad."

She shrugs.

"Still, I prefer taking stares to bullets, I'll say that much."

Dimitri Kuznetsov, Barracks

The first weapon, Dimitri makes in silence, carefully examining the coils and especially the fuel cells as he helps install them. His handiwork isn't exactly exceptional, but it's far from bad either, and the circuitry he handles with practiced grace. It is during the second when he begins to speak.

"These fuel cells! I've never seen anything like them! Tell me, how do you get them so small?"

Kyle nods.

"Yeah, that's why I've been wearing armor under the jacket. Well, that and because I've only just got a room a half an hour ago, y'know? So what kind of heat you packin' officer? You prefer the classic revolver, good ol' glock, or d'ya prefer a shotty?"

Kyle silently prays she's not a psycho that uses melee like some of these people. He silently notes that Alexandria gets a pass since she has all that frontal armor
