[IC] TotMV:G2: The Battered Hero

Edmond was not surprised. I suppose that this had to happen sooner or later...

As Solomon approached him, he stood up, listening attentively. When Edmond had heard what Solomon wanted his weapon for, he almost laughed.

"Well, while I don't see harm in that, if that really is what you intend to do, I would ask whether it's really necessary? Allowing me to retain your weapon has been a good way for you to show that you have no intention of harming anyone. It might be wise to just walk."

He attempted to hide his unease, for if solomon attempted to take the ring, there was probably little he could actually do, and he woud rather rely on others as little as possible.

The grey cloaked man sighed; if he was back in his home the two of them would be having a calm discussion over whether or not the Latin translation of The Margites is superior over the English translation, over several cups of warm tea, as Solomon would finally get a chance to wear his monocle, not like he could see out of one of those of course, but it helped paint a comforting mental image.

The grey cloaked man walked about a bit, he couldn't tell whether the engineer was scared, or simply about to laugh; he was always rubbish with that sort of thing; people are a lot harder to read than books; easier to manipulate though, but still.

He finally stopped walking and turned to face the engineer again "Look, I'm going to be brutally honest right now; yes I taught that uppity kid with the pointy stick a lesson, yes I have just survived a blow to the back of the head, an impromptu ECT session, and yet another blow to the back of the head, and yes that was a helicopter composed entirely out of books, and yes you are holding a copy of a book that should technically not exist, and on my way here I had an experience that could only really be described as a particularly interesting acid trip, so in all seriousness, can I have my ring back? I really just want to go and talk to Cid now, and being able to summon any book imaginable is something that I can take advantage of".

No need to remind me...

"Again, I'm really going to need a lightly better explanation for why you need it than that. I don't see why going to see the guy that Leon mentioned had alcohol requires the ability to summon books."

In fact, some of the things which you just said make me doubt even more whether giving you your weapon is a good idea...

"And I'm Magna," she said, distracted. She was glad Kagarin was feeling better, but that didn't solve the problem. It simply wouldn't do if Kagarin was always going to be on edge around Snow. But what could she do? She wracked her brain for a solution, but was coming up with nothing. "I'll figure something out."

She turned to face Kyle, a newcomer to their group. With how large their group had become, it was hard to keep track of who had joined recently, or who was in the second group they ran into. It was even harder to put a name to a face, as she hadn't talked to most of them either. For now, gathering more information would be a good way to obtain a better grasp on their current situation.

"I haven't seen you around before, Kyle. Are you one of the local inhabitants? Or were you unexpectedly brought to this world, like the rest of us?"

Kyle starts to type something in again before sighing and putting his phone in his pocket. He lean against the door frame as he holds up two fingers, the intent obviously being to signal that he's in the latter group. He shakes his head at the ridiculousness of having to make the distinction.

"To trade with my good man, to put it simply; I have no form of legal tender on my person, and unless this Cid character is willing to receive chocolate coins as payment for a bottle of his fine liquors; then I would be forced to leave empty handed, because you see I really don't like the whole 'hero discount' thing, it's unnatural, and so I'll just say thank you in advance and hope that in twenty minutes or so, I'll be back with something dirty in a clean bottle".

"But do you really know that? Do you really know what Cid is like? you are basing all of this on a single remark; perhaps the man has all of the town's fine liquors because his way of relaxing was to curl up on his bed with a good book in one hand, and a small shot glass of scotch in the other, or perhaps his passion lies with engineering; and he spends his time in the garage trying to figure out new and interesting ways to use the materials provided to him, and he would appreciate some new research material; or perhaps I could grant him a book with a metal cover, precious or otherwise; the possibilities are infinite young man, and to be honest I'm feeling a insulted that you would think so lowly of the not so humble concept of a book."

"Actually," Alexandria chuckles, "My body was designed to fight dragons, battleships, and other such hard targets at any range while maintaining the mobility and small target profile of infantry.  But my heavy shields and skill at attracting attention make me well-suited to drawing enemies out of cover for snipers and artillery to dispatch."

"Hmm.. I see, you were design for that purpose, devoting your body on the line just to become this living vanguard in serving others, well, i sure hope you know what you are doing inviting all that hurt to yourself." Jesse said with a sly smile. "I may not have healing powers like my uncle Raphael does, but i can assure you i got your metallic back if i you got mine in this fight against these heartless." The angelic sniper said and remains in his post, eyeing the others inside the room, still waiting on this whole damn group to be complete, i swear these mortals has no priorities, always delaying what needs to be done. god...how my trigger finger is getting itchy from all of this waiting. The Hellfire Knight frowned - not that one could actually, you know, tell. "Huh? No, the Fourth God doesn't give me any power. It is all my own." Vehement, again. "I know that we are teammates, or at least that we're supposed to be. But I don't think we're here to make friends." And that's a good thing, I was never good with people. . . "Also. . . No, that's not important. So you get power from the god of your plane, then? How does that work?" The evasion of the start of a question was painfully obvious - something that made her wince underneath her cowl - but it was better than being rude. But did it matter if she was rude? Someone called the Hellfire Knight wouldn't be expected to be polite, but a scared little girl would be. . .

Snow, the Lady Ashford

Snow was still concerned about this "Fourth God". It sounded an awful lot like Pyron... well maybe it's just cause he was at times referred to as the Fourth God. Fire was the last, the fourth element, to be lain into the body of a living being. Earth the first with it the body. Wind the second, with it the Mind. Water the third, with it knowledge the ability to retain memory. And finally, Fire, the one that sparked life. The ignition of the Soul. Perhaps this god had some similarities to Pyron. Perhaps... none at all. It couldn't be Pyron himself. Only Seeker had the power, the knowledge to Transcend. As far as Seeker let on anyway.

"You put on a really cute tough act... but you're not fooling me. I don't know what you are behind that suit of armour but you're using it to hide something. I've had millennia to practice, so I know the tricks when I see them. Not that I really need to hide, it just comes in handy." Snow shifted too a much more confident stance. One you could almost imagine a smirk behind her visor. If there was anything behind it... there wasn't though. Even if there was though Snow's face had not have shown the coy smile.

"Anyway, You're words might have meaning to another, but you should already know by now I'm not here to make friends. Thought I made that one clear." She sighed. It sounded... strange though, almost as if it was rattlin' in an old tin can. "To answer your question though. Yes... but also no. My physical merits and the entirety of my fighting style down to the magic is all me. However, I am not human. I've ascended." She paused for a moment. Not sure how far she'd be want to go, but she'd probably never see these people again, and just one of them knowing probably wouldn't matter...

"My form is directly tied to my goddess. I am one with her in some ways. We can even commune within the same mind. We are separate beings, and yet at times one in the same. Being on a separate plane from her makes the connection... fuzzy. Distant. While I am weaker than when I am in Graterras... I'm still more powerful than most heroes of legend regardless of the fact. I was once a hero of legend myself. A long time ago... so long I doubt many here were alive then. However, unlike many of them... I ascended due to my feats and my power. I became the chosen warrior of Aelia. I am not tied to a mortal form." She lifted the visor of her helmet for but a split moment. The Hellfire Knight was probably the only one that could see inside from where she was standing. And, there was nothing save for a soft pale mist that floated in her armour. Otherwise the suit held... nothing. While it was open the frigid air escaped. It surged outward, a misty pallor, a surge like that of dry ice. She shut it, causing one last puff to emit from her helm.

"So... in short, yes... but also no."

Solomon caught the ring, and slipped it onto his right ring finger, and he flexed his muscles... so to speak as the book Edmond had been carrying floated to the air and turned into a stack of much slimmer volumes, which flew through the air and made a half circle as they seemed to be tossed back into the sky by an invisible juggler, after a few moments of this, the books flew back towards Edmond, landing softly on his right hand; before turning back into a single Latin translated copy of the Margites.

the grey cloaked man smiled "You know I usually don't go around giving those away for free, but to be honest; you look like the sort of man to appreciate it's worth; that and today has been really weird; a good book can help make things feel more normal; I'll see you later".

The grey cloaked man walked slowly outside, and he turned to Theodore "Let's go, I've got what I needed from this place".

He noticed the.... death mage conversing with the vid actor, and he wondered what they were talking about; but he simply went past them; they didn't have anything he wanted, and he could never really get along with those Scythe and black robe carrying, bind spirits to the bodies of the dead and let's destroy the world types.

and besides; it's not like they had any Vodka on their person, but this Cid character; he seems... promising.

Kyle coughs awkwardly before quickly typing out a message.

We can talk easier in side if you want.

With that he enters and after a second heads over to the man in an opera mask. He could understand wanting to conceal one's identity. He waves.

Venus

Venus examined the man that waved at him, looking to be at about an age around 4-6 years his senior. He seemed to interact through a certain device that Venus assumed was....computerized, for lack of a better word to describe it. Mute, I see, the artist surmised, as he gave a responding wave, a plain smile hidden from view by the collar of his cloak. He would interact with him later, perhaps, but his attentions currently focused on another, as he noticed Katsuo at a corner, waiting much like he did.

Katsuo wasn't Venus' first acquainted confidant, but he had to admit he was the one who at this time had the firmest grasp of his interest. Plain, perhaps, at a glance.  He entertained himself with the cogitation a certain someone in his life had told him, finding a mix of humor, nostalgia, and sadness in the sentiment; that one person whom he once held dear had told him that people were like oysters; pearls existed beneath the tender contents concealed within their rigid, unappealing shells, a quote in which he would always remember, not once putting it off his mind. It enabled him to appreciate the true value of things.

He turned to his injured finger, his best finger, his painting finger. Not once had he granted it the luxury of rest since his first painting, having injured it twice to craft masterpieces for Alexandria and Eon. At the same time, the hammering behind his head to continue drawing seemed stubborn as it gnawed his mix of thoughts and cogitations, further drowning him in the many stupors of art he had, for the umpteenth time, succumbed to. Not but a waste of time he took as he tore off more pages from his scrapbook. This time, he allowed the blood to flow through his elbow, lightly cutting it with a knife as he filled the middle of the pages with blood, before waiting for them to partially dry. It was then in which his pen did the work, forging a few pieces of artwork -- one of them being Katsuo in his exact likeness. Venus had always been a master in rendering, and beneath the hue of solid red was a piece made in the young boy's exact likeness. Finishing various other pieces from more flora to other things that crossed his mind, he gratified himself yet again for being exceptionally productive.

Approaching Katsuo, Venus handed over the portrait of him he had made. "Here," he said, an unconcealed simper brimming widely, "A token of our acquaintanceship."

"Well, if you say you're going to be okay, I'll take your word for it, Kagarin. I'm going to head inside, but feel free to take your time if you need to. I'll make sure to grab you if Leon starts his briefing," said Magna. To be honest, she was still a little worried for Kagarin, but for now Magna would give her some space. She headed back inside to where Snow and Hiroki were, just as Snow started looming over Hiroki. "Whatcha up to, you two? Peering into each others souls?" she joked. Quite a few people have already gathered in this building. At this point, she couldn't tell who was missing or not. "Kagarin's just out to get some air. She tends to get these weird bouts of claustrophobia, do forgive her~"

The grey cloaked man smiled widely "It went almost as well as the meeting with the beautiful man, she seemed.... Interested in the quest, or at the very least in you, it's very hard to tell these days"

He starts walking towards the garage where Cid was said to be located "That was a nice song by the way"

"Well to be honest, all I could really tell was that she was interested, very very interested in you, but then again" Solomon smiled even wider "Maybe she was just afraid that we'll set the place on fire, all I know is that I won't be walking there" a platform of books appeared and Solomon clambered onto it, "So are you coming? Or do you not want to fly on a helicopter?"

Solomon and Theo went on a magical adventure involving this Cid character, is what Solomon would like to say, but in truth they had simply gotten lost and finally went back to the meeting hall; at least they had a bag of Pork rinds and three more bottles of beer on the wall though....

Solomon turned to face Theo as the helicopter landed in front of the meeting hall "Sorry about that, I guess the garage didn't want to be found? at least we got something out of it though."
