Conjuring memories of mini me playing Sonic on my big sis' Megadrive... didn't see that coming. Back then I found the game a bit hard (then again I was a clueless toddler). Actually I spent much more time on Sonic 3, which was one of the BIG games of my childhood. Anyway it's always cool to see the classics being kept alive, thanks FireStar!

no problem! I actually thought it was to be a cool idea, as Sonic Mania will be arriving in stores within a few months or so (can't rememebr the release date; Spring 2017?). I may end up releasing more videos today though. stay tuned!

An Apology in advance: I've been having some data issues with my computer lately, so I lost the last minute or so of Spring Yard Zone. Oh well. as they say, "Shit happens."

Again, if there's a Sonic General Discussion thread, do tell me by posting the link. But all in all, enjoy the videos!

I hate Marble. I've always felt Sonic was all about speed and quick reactions, so it's a terrible zone in my opinion. Even today patience isn't my biggest quality, so you can guess how well 6 years old me fared back then XD

I think I never actually beat act 3. I watched Spring and I didn't remember anything... It's discovery time from now on. Keep doing this mate!

oh god... the only real good zone in Sonic 1 is Green Hill Zone

THAT is the only Zone that really is about speed... al the other zones are like... twirly and random... and... slow...

Labyrinth Zone is the perfect example... not only is 80% of it underwater - which equals slower movement and the dreaded *dun dun dun dun* when you're about to drown... no it is also the most VERTICAL stage... you now... Sonic runs fast! - Running is a HORIZONTAL Movement, not vertical!

gah!

Marble Zone is just slow with this insta-kill lava and the moving platforms...

Springyard is just to random with this casino-like spring segments, where you have to hope to get bounced into the right direction.

There is StarLight Zone, which kind of puts a balance on speeding and puzzling through the stage. It's still kind of sad (but rather brilliant) that 2/3rd of the whole game is about managing patience and speed. But otherwise, of the three games, I find Sonic 1 to be the most interesting platformer, while Sonic 3 is the funnest (and Sonic 2 the most infuriating).
