[SPOILER] Are some pokes shiny locked?

brianwee2012

Question

I've always like reborn shiny sprites and have tried to get the shiny for some event pokes.  But are some event pokes shiny locked?  I've SR at a certain event poke for over 3hrs now but i still have not found the shiny for this pokemon, so i wonder if some event pokes are shiny locked.

As for this poke, it is

Spoiler

treecko

So have anyone got the shiny pokemon from that event, or am i just purely unlucky...

There should be no reason for this 'mon to be shiny-locked, and I have never encountered a shiny-locked 'mon in Reborn before.
I did, however, once spend multiple hours resetting for a shiny Eevee, so yeah, it's possible to simply have rotten luck like that.

Spoiler

It'd be pointless to shiny-lock this 'mon when it's possible to obtain it as a shiny if you start with it.

If I remember correctly the Reborn Shiny rate was something like 700/6500. This means that statistically speaking you should have 95% chance to encounter a shiny Treecko over the course of 30 encounters.

Perhaps you're simply super unlucky. Though perhaps Event type Pokémon may either be locked into being non-shiny, or after encountering it for the first time it locks it into that trait (can someone confirm/deny this?).

You could try to just breed Treecko, and you'll have yourself a Shiny Mon pretty quickly.

I think its the luck of the draw, with the espurr event, I SR over the course of a couple of hours with one save file and didn't get one, but in my latest file I SR once purely to get the female, low and behold it was shiny, with a modest nature and the hidden ability

Do you have your heart set on a shiny one?
